How do we know God does not want like humans do?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the concept of 'want' applies only to humans, as God lacks nothing.

The use of the word 'want' in Scripture is always in reference to humans who are lacking or in need. In contrast, God, being perfect and self-sufficient, has no needs; as stated in Scripture, He does not want in the way that humans often express desire or need. The word itself appears numerous times in the context of humanity's experiences of lack, while God's plans stand firm and are executed perfectly as He desires. Psalms 50:21 exemplifies this by mentioning how people mistakenly assume God is like them, forgetting His majesty and perfection which leave Him devoid of need or want.
