How do we know Judas Iscariot was not a true believer?

Answered in 3 sources

Judas Iscariot was not a true believer as evidenced by his actions, motivations, and ultimately his betrayal of Christ.

Judas Iscariot's life and actions provide clear evidence that he was never a true believer. Despite being chosen as one of the twelve disciples, Judas is characterized as a thief who cared more about money than about the Lord Jesus (John 12:6). His betrayal of Jesus for thirty pieces of silver (Matthew 26:15) further illustrates his lack of genuine faith. In discussing Judas, one must recognize that despite being included in the apostolic circle, his heart was not aligned with Christ. This fulfills the biblical teaching that not all who are called are chosen, as seen in Matthew 7:21-23 where Jesus states that not everyone who calls Him 'Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven.
