How do we know that justification is through Christ alone?

Answered in 3 sources

Justification is solely through Christ as He is the one who 'justifies the ungodly' (Romans 4:5) by His grace and sacrifice.

The doctrine of justification asserts that individuals are made right before God solely through the work of Jesus Christ. Romans 4:5 states, 'But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.' This biblical truth emphasizes that it is not our deeds or righteousness that justify us; rather, it is Christ's atoning sacrifice that brings about our justification.

In addition, this justification is rooted in God's sovereign grace, meaning it is an act of God's mercy rather than our merit. As the sermon delineates, it is not about our memories or emotional experiences but rather about the gospel's truth and the efficacy of Christ’s blood, which secures our righteous standing before God. Thus, we are justified by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, aligned with the core tenets of historic Reformed theology.
