How do we know that man died spiritually due to sin?

Answered in 1 source

The spiritual death of man is evidenced by his separation from God and inability to discern his own condition after sinning in the garden.

After Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden, they did not die physically but experienced spiritual death, which is defined as a loss of that living soul's ability to know and relate to God. This is supported by the observation that following their rebellion, they hid from God, indicating a severed relationship. Romans 5:12 clarifies that through Adam's sin, death entered the world, signifying that all humanity inherits this spiritual deadness. Consequently, individuals are born without the innate capacity to seek God or recognize their guilt, highlighting the dire need for regeneration by God's grace.
