What can we learn from the burnt offering about identifying with Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The burnt offering teaches believers about their identification with Christ, as they are spiritually united with Him in His sacrificial death.

The act of placing one’s hands on the head of the burnt offering signifies identification between the individual and the sacrifice, which mirrors our union with Christ. As explained in the sermon, when a believer trusts in Christ, they identify with Him: "I am crucified with Christ" (Galatians 2:20). This union means that what Christ accomplished through His sacrifice—His atonement, victory over sin, and resurrection—is shared with every believer. Therefore, Christians are assured of their acceptance before God because they are seen as being in Christ, who is fully acceptable to the Father. The identification with Christ in his suffering and resurrection offers assurance and hope to believers as they face challenges in their own lives.
