What does the Bible say about man's creation and purpose?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible states that God created man with a living soul, which is referred to as the candle of the Lord, enabling us to understand and discern right from wrong.

In Genesis 2:7, the scripture reveals that God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, making him a living soul. This 'living soul' represents our ability to reason, understand, and know God, as described in Proverbs 20:27, where the spirit of man is likened to a lamp that searches the inward parts of the heart. This creation reflects God's intention for humanity to engage with Him and comprehend divine truths through our spirit, which was initially alive to Him.
