What does the Bible say about temptation?

Answered in 30 sources

The Bible teaches that we should count it all joy when we face various temptations, as they test our faith and produce patience (James 1:2-3).

In James 1:2-3, believers are instructed to count it all joy when they face divers temptations. These temptations are not temptations to sin, but trials and afflictions permitted by God for our growth. The purpose of these trials is to test our faith and to work patience within us. In God’s providence, these difficulties serve as a means of refining our faith and drawing us closer to Him. It is important to remember that these trials are part of God’s sovereign plan for His children, meant to lead us toward maturity and completeness in our faith.
