'If a son then an HEIR OF GOD through Christ.' - Gal.4:7
Who are these 'sons' and 'heirs of God', and what is their inheritance?
What does the Bible say about being an heir of God?

Being an heir of God means you are no longer a servant but a son, receiving inheritance according to God's promise.

The Bible indicates that being an heir of God signifies a transformative relationship with Him, as evidenced in Galatians 4:7 which states, 'You are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God, through Christ.' This implies that only those who are true sons of God, who are called and adopted into His family through the redemptive work of Christ, are eligible to inherit the promises of God. The inheritance is spiritual and includes all the blessings promised to those in Christ, signifying a profound relationship with the Father.

Galatians 4:7, Romans 8:14-17

How do we know we are heirs of God?

We know we are heirs of God because we are led by the Spirit of God and acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.

The assurance of being heirs of God is rooted in the work of the Holy Spirit within believers. Romans 8:14 states that 'as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.' By this leading, believers come to recognize Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, affirming their status as heirs. This includes receiving the 'earnest of the inheritance' as stated in Ephesians 1, which showcases the assurance of our sonship and the blessings that follow from this relationship. Ultimately, it is through divine grace that one comes to know their position as an heir.

Romans 8:14, Ephesians 1:14

Why is being an heir of God important for Christians?

Being an heir of God assures Christians of their identity and inheritance in Christ, instilling hope and purpose.

The importance of being an heir of God for Christians lies in the profound identity and security it provides. As heirs, believers are assured of their place in God's family and the spiritual blessings that accompany this status. In Romans 8:17, it emphasizes that 'if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ.' This inheritance encompasses not just future promises but also the richness of mercy, grace, and spiritual wisdom in the present life. Understanding oneself as an heir transforms how Christians live, offering hope and encouraging them to share the gospel, knowing they are eternally secure in God's love and purpose.

Romans 8:17, Ephesians 1:3, Psalm 16:5-6

We sang that hymn mostly because
of the verse that speaks of children of the heavenly King. Children. That's our subject. Sons of God. Galatians chapter 2. Go to Galatians
chapter 2. I'm sorry, Galatians 3. Read, look with me, verse 29. It says,
If you be Christ's, then are you Abraham's seed and heirs,
according to the promise. And verse 7 says, You are no
more a servant, but a son. And if a son, then an heir of
God. through Christ, an heir of God,
son and heir. Now, once again, I'm going to
speak things too wonderful for me. The fact is, I thought about
this, whatever subject we take that deals with God is just too
wonderful. Too great for a poor human being
to try to declare. The half has never been told. Never. Never will be by a mortal
man. And what we're looking at this
morning, what we're going to look at is what it means to be an
heir of God. An heir of God. Now, the Scripture says, eye
hasn't seen. Ear hasn't hurt, neither have
entered in the heart of man the things that God has prepared
for them to love him." So this is an impossible task, really. But with God, all things are
possible. This message will be a great
revealer, be very revealing of all who hear it. The truth always
is. The truth always reveals the
truth from error. The gospel always separates the wheat from
the chaff. The truth separates the sheep
from the goats. It separates God's people, his
sons, from the sons of Adam. It always does. Your heartfelt, our heartfelt
interest in this subject will reveal the state of our heart. That's how revealing this is,
actually. Now, an inheritance. An inheritance
is something left to you in a will. Someone who has an estate, and
they die, and before they die, they write out this will. And
they say in that will, who is to receive all of their estate? The inheritance. The one who
receives the inheritance is an heir. An heir. Okay? All right, very simply. Who is an heir of God? Talks
about an heir of God. receive according to a will,
according to God's will, they receive everything in that will.
Who is it? Who's the heir? Not everybody.
All right, what do they receive? What is their inheritance? That's
very simple, isn't it? Who's the heir? Who's an heir
of God? And what do they inherit? It's
going to be very revealing. Alright, who is an heir? Verse
7 says, again, in Galatians 4, says, Thou art no more a servant,
but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God. You must be a son of God to be
an heir. Very simple, isn't it? Well,
turn back to Romans 8 with me, okay? Romans 8 that we read.
A while ago, Romans 8, God is called the Father, the Heavenly
Father of who? Not mankind. Not all mankind. No, sir. God is not the Father
of all men. Isn't that what everybody says?
It doesn't matter if everybody says that. Scripture says, Let
God be true in every man, a liar. What does God say? Well, they
are not all the children of God. Romans 8, verse 14, says, As
many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of
God. Isn't that what it says? They are the
sons of God. There are some that are clearly
led by another spirit. Right? Right. Nothing plainer from Scripture.
There's nothing plainer from Scripture and nothing more denied
by false preachers and false believers than this. Very clear
from Scripture that there are sheep and there are goats. Very clear. Our Lord himself
said that, that he will separate The sheep from the goats. Come,
ye blessed of my Father. Chosen, foreknown, Romans 8. See, I wanted to read it all.
For whom he did foreknow, that means love. He did predestinate. Whom he did predestinate, he
called. Whom he called, he justified. Whom he justified, he glorified.
And it goes on down in verse 31 to say, If God be for us,
who can be against us? Well, that's not talking about
everybody, because he just told us who they were. Those of us are those he foreknew,
predestinated, called, justified and glorified, received the spirit
of adoption, led by the Spirit of Christ. They are the sons
of God. If God be for them, and he is,
nothing can be against them. And he goes on to say, Nothing
shall separate them from the love of God. The last verse of
Romans 8 is in Christ, the well-beloved, only begotten Son, the elect,
which we will get to in a minute. They are the sons. There is nothing
clearer from Scripture than that they are sons of God and sons
of God. Our Lord looked at some men one day and said, You are
of your father the devil, didn't he? Sammy, why don't preachers and
people believe that today? Why do they go around telling
everybody that? Because they're liars. And what they're doing
is calling Jesus Christ a liar, aren't they? Because Christ said
that. He looked right at some religious
fellows who called God their Father and said, God were your
Father. Remember this? If God were your Father, meaning
He's not. If God were your Father, you'd
love me. And we're going to see this in
a minute, that they're all taught of God, and they come to Christ. Because he that hath seen me,
Christ said, hath seen the Father. Well, nothing clearer. This Holy
Spirit, they're led by, we read there in verse 14, they're led
by the Spirit of God. What does he do? What's his office?
What's the Holy Spirit do? A lot of people have an opinion
of it. A lot of people say a lot of things. Oh, we're spiritists,
anointed preachers, anointed churches, anointed. They're a pack of liars. The Spirit of God, Jesus Christ
said. In John 14, John 16, he went
into great depth, didn't he, to tell what the Spirit of Christ
does. That's what he's called. The
Spirit of Christ. What does he do? Ed, you know
these things. You must be one of God's sons.
He teaches them all this. The Holy Spirit, Christ said,
takes the things of mine and shows them to you. He won't speak
of himself. People won't walk away talking about the spirit
this and spirit that. They'll be talking about Christ. Holy Spirit anointed preachers
and people are those who are rejoice in Christ Jesus. That's
right. Take the things of Christ. This
is the earnest of the inheritance. You understand? This is, in Ephesians
1, says, this is the earnest of the inheritance. This is how
you know you're an heir. This is how you know, part of
it. You know who Christ is. And he's everything. If children
of God Verse 17 of Romans 8 says this, if children of God, then
heirs, heirs of God, joint heirs, joint heirs with Christ. You see, there's one heir, one heir. Look with me to Hebrews,
Hebrews chapter 1. There's one heir. There's one son, only begotten
son of God. God has one son. One son. And everybody else is
adopted. You see that? One son, express
image. That means he's him. That means
he is God. Not just a son, like we're a
son. Look at Hebrews 1. Look at this. It says in Hebrews 1, I've got
to find it. Hebrews 1, verse 3, says, He
who Christ be in the brightness of his glory, the express image
of his person. That means they're one and the
same. the exact person. Express image. God, who made
the worlds, God in the beginning said, Genesis, He said, Let us
make man. Didn't God say that? People have
trouble with the Trinity, don't they, Sherry? God's people don't. I mean, they don't understand
it completely, but they believe it. God said, let us make man
after what? Our own image. Image? I thought God's a spirit. No, he is. But he also has an image. And apparently he had this before
the world began. An image, the Son, the offspring,
the bodily in Him, that is Jesus Christ, dwelleth all the fullness
of the Godhead. I said it right, didn't I? The Godhead bodily. There's a world of people out
there who have trouble with that. He can't be God, he's a man. Well, he is. Yes, Jesus Christ is God. How
important is this? Our Lord said, Brother Henry,
John 8, 24, you know that verse. He said, If you believe not that
I am, you will die on your sins. I am what? God. He that cometh
to God must believe that he is. Who is? Christ is. What? God. and not just a son of God. Not just a son of God. Now, listen
to me. I'm going to try to, as my pastor
always said, try to make good on this. I'll camp here a while. I used to say that. Look at Hebrews
1, verse 2. God hath in these last days spoken
unto us by a Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things. And by whom also he made the
world. Express image of God. And over in Romans 14 it says,
Christ is Lord, dead and living, sovereign ruler, Jesus Christ. We're talking about Jesus, Jesus. That man that walked this earth,
and none other than God Almighty in the flesh, and that means
he's sovereign. He's a ruler, a despot, disposing,
that is, of whom he will, what he will, why he will, because
he will, despot, doing as he will. He's not Lord in title
only. He's not Lord because people
let him be. He is. He is Lord in person, in power. And he's not just a man. He's
not just the Son of God. Not just a man, he is God, he
is equal with the Father. Isn't he? Do you believe that?
Now, listen, there's a world of people that don't believe
this. They don't believe this. Our
Lord Jesus Christ is not gentle Jesus, meek and mild. He used
to be. He's not now. He's not now. He's consuming
fire. He is not standing outside everybody's
heart's door in the rain, hoping they'll let him in, because there's
no handle on the door and he can't do anything like that.
No, sir, he's sitting on the circle of the earth. Now he is. Scripture says we
shall see him as he is, not was, is. Paul said this in Hebrews,
he said, we see Jesus made a little lower than the angels, That is
a body. Angels weren't confined to a
fleshly body. He was. Why? For the suffering
of death. That's why. To be a propitiation,
a bloody sacrifice, to be God's Lamb, flesh, to take our sins
in his flesh, bear our sins in his flesh, in his own body on
the tree, had to. the Lamb of God, he came, he
did it, made of a woman, made under the law to redeem them
that were under the law. Christ came, a kinsman redeemer,
substitute, made of a woman, made under the law to redeem
God manifest in the flesh, but he's not that way anymore. I don't understand this completely
as a glorified body. Oh, he's the same Jesus, yet
he's not the same. He's infinitely glorified, and
he's seated on the throne of glory. He's not standing outside
anywhere. He's in the Holy of Holies. Right? Seated. He is the seat, the mercy seat,
and covered with gold. over the cherubim's cry, Holy,
Holy, Holy of this Lord God of hosts. That's who they're talking
about, Jesus Christ. When Isaiah said, I saw the Lord,
capital L, capital O, capital RD, that's Jehovah in the end. Who'd he say? Jesus Christ is
Jehovah. I am a Jehovah's Witness. I am. You are, too, if you believe
He is. They shall all be taught of God,
our Lord said. Taught who Christ is, the Lord. How important is it? How vital is it? It's proof if
you're a son. All sons know this. They all
know this. They know He's Lord. They don't
say it with their lips when their hearts are far from it. No, they
know in their hearts. that he is sovereign owner and
ruler over all things. He is the Lord God. He's the
one that created everything. He's the director. He's the one
that kills and makes alive. He's the Lord. That's what it
means. A lot of people say that, but they don't believe that, that he's Lord.
Lord, they don't even know what the term means. Lord means sovereign,
controller. I'll tell you how ignorant people
are Their own mouths condemn them.
There's a guy, there's a so-called preacher in this very town who
wrote an article in the newspaper that said this, and I quote,
he said, we control the one that controls us. That's what he said, verbatim.
And he's got a big following of people that follow him, a
teacher, a ruler in Israel, a master in Israel. He doesn't even know
what Lord means. Either are you or not. If somebody
controls you, you can't control them. How idiotic. When we say Lord, we mean it. Here's what Eli said when his
sons died. Both his sons were killed. Who
did it? The Lord. That's what Eli said. It's the Lord. Because God said,
Jesus Christ said, I kill and I make alive. I wound, I heal. I make peace, I create evil. I cast down, I lift up. I, the Lord, do all these things. God the Lord will work. Who's
going to let Him? Anybody that says, let God do
anything, doesn't know God. Do you? Do you say that? No,
you don't. You wouldn't dare say such a
thing. You know His Lord. He must be a son. You see? I wrote a woman this week and
I said, you know, just because people all get together and agree
on something doesn't mean it's so. A person can believe something
all they will, it doesn't mean that. You know, I believe I can
fly. I believe, that guy wrote that
song, I believe I can fly. We can believe it all day long,
it doesn't mean you can't. Right? I believe, you just, man's
got a free will, you can believe it all you want to, but it's
not so. We brought this out last week, didn't we? Man can't ever
say, I will do anything. Man does not have a free will. That means you do exactly what
you purpose to do, and you do it and nobody can stop you. Right? I cannot say. with absolute certainty,
beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I'm going to breathe the next
minute from now. I will breathe. You might and
you might not. God in whose hands your breath
is, Daniel said. When does someone die? When God
kills them. When does somebody live? When
God gives them life. In Him we live and move and move. and move and have our being. Man cannot
say, I will do anything. All he can say, Ron, is I hope
to. I want to. God's people say, if the Lord
wills, I shall. And anybody on the top side of
this earth that runs around saying that man has a free will doesn't
know God. It's as plain as that. Oh, but
he's what? They'll all be taught of God,
Samuel, God, that God is God, Lord. Not with a mouth, they
don't believe that. The heart. The heart. He's Lord. Jesus is Lord. Don't you love what the wise
men, those who are wise unto salvation, when they followed
his star, God sent a star, they wouldn't have known where he
was, they wouldn't have known who he was, unless God shed light
on it. And they were chosen, John Worthy,
chosen out on the hillside, shepherds, wise men from the east. Because
you're from the east doesn't mean you're wise. They were wise
men because God made them that, from above, wisdom from above.
And how do you know they're wise? They came looking for Christ.
What did they say? Where is he, this boy? We come
to make him king. Is that what they said? We come to make him Lord, to
crown him Lord. What did they say? Where is he, this born king? You're king by birth. You're king by inheritance. You may think you are. Do you
remember that story over in 1 Kings of one of David's, one of these
fellows that stood up and said, I'm going to be king. Do you
remember that? I forget what his name was. He stood up one
day and said, I'm going to be king. And he got a bunch of people
around and said, yes, you are, aren't you? And he paid them
more money. And they said, yes, you really
are. You're king. Keep paying me and I'll put you
in my court. I'll make you one of my rulers
with me." So they all decided that this fellow was going to
be king. Now hold on. David was still alive, still
king, and he heard about it. And he said, we'll see about
this. He said, call my son Solomon. Call Solomon. Bring him in here.
And it says, John, it says, David bowed himself to his son. Does that sound like Hebrews
1.8 to you? Unto the son, the king says,
you're king. And he will ever and ever bow
to you. It doesn't matter if the whole world is getting together
to make this fellow king. It doesn't matter if he thinks
he is king. He's not! You're king. And there he was,
Kelly. And they all found out about
it, buddy. And he called them in and started cutting heads
off. Now who's king? You're king! You're king! That's right, every knee will
bow and every tongue will confess what? Good Lord. Always has been. Where is he that is born again? Firstborn. What about old Simeon
in the temple? Simeon in the temple, he held
a baby in his arm. He never talked about a baby. He never looked at that child
as being a baby in his hands. He never said, I'm going to make
this child my salvation. I'm going to make this child
my Lord. I'm going to let him into my heart. No, what did he
say? He said, now mine eyes, he said,
have beheld thy salvation. Never said a thing about a baby. What he meant by that, John,
what he knew was This child really is not in my hands at all. I'm
in His. I'm in Him. He's Lord, Lord our God, Lord
our Righteousness. Ain't Jehovah Sid Cano in Him?
Jesus Christ is the Lord our Righteous. There is none. I don't
care what people look like. I don't care how black they make
their clothing. Or how broad they make their phylacteries.
Or how they give their bodies to be burned. God is well pleased for one man's
righteousness. One man. There's been one man
that live on this earth God's approved of. Right, John? One
man, God said, I'm well pleased. You've earned heaven. One man,
God said, open these gates. Open his everlasting gates. Open
up heaven. Here's a man. He's earned it.
He's worked his way into heaven. One man. But look behind him. Look, look, look, hanging on
to his skirt. Covered with his skirt. A whole
train following the bridal veil. They're hanging on to the Lord
and they're righteous. Coming in the glory. How? Following. Hidden. Covered. They ought to
know that. They all know that. They all
know that. Every one of them. 1 John 5. Go over there real
quickly. 1 John 5. I've got to hurry. 1 John 5. Look at this. I'm talking about Christ being
God, not just the Son of God. He's the only begotten, that
is, bodily offspring. In Him dwells the fullness of
the Godhead in a body, but He's equal with the Father. He is
the Father. Call His name that. You know
what Isaiah said? Call His name that, the everlasting
Father. I can't explain it. They're separate
persons, but they're not. They're one. I'm not trying to explain that.
It's just so. You can't worship God unless
you worship the Son. And the Holy Spirit is the one
that teaches you that. But 1 John 5, look at this. 1 John 5, verses 19 and 20. We
know John said we. Who's he talking about? He's
talking about God's people. This whole letter is written
to his people, sons of God, he talks about the sons of God throughout
this letter, doesn't he? And he says, we know that we
are of God, born of God, chosen of God, and the whole world lieth
in wickedness, whether it be open immorality or religious.
Outside of Christ, Irene, it's wickedness. It's all wickedness. In fact, religious iniquity is
worse. You know the degrees of punishment
in hell? You know who it's going to be more tolerable in the judgment
for? Harlots in public are going to be more tolerable in the judgment
for harlots than it is for preachers. That's what Christ said. That's
what Jesus Christ said. That's what Jesus Christ said. What? He's true, the everyman's
liar. And the whole world lies in wickedness. Outside of Christ, verse 20,
we know that the Son of God is come and hath given us an understanding
that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that
is true. Even in His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God. Who? The Son. and eternal life. Thomas said,
My Lord and my God. And the Lord did not correct
him, did it? He didn't correct him. You know,
you heard about that woman that said to my wife at times, she
was trying to say how that we all believe the same thing. After she told my wife that she
hated her God, the God who does as he will with whom he will,
the God who kills, the God who elects a people and passes by
others, the God who has mercy on whom he will, that God, the
God, the only God. She said she hated him, her God. Brother Henry, she didn't know
it, but he's her God too. Well, after that she wrote her
a letter trying to apologize, trying to find some common ground.
And she said to her, well, we both agree on this. We both believe,
we both agree that Jesus is the Son of God. Well, listen to me now, listen
carefully. Baptists, every good Baptist, every Methodist, every
Episcopalian, every Presbyterian, every Catholic, every Mormon,
every so-called Jehovah Witness says that. They all say that. We just read it there. He has
revealed unto us, given us an understanding that we might know
him. Who? The only true God. That he's
God. Listen to me. That Christ is
God. He's the only God there is. If folks really believed
him that is true, if folks really believed Jesus Christ is, call
him the Son of God, call him God, they would know he's holy. They would know he's sovereign.
That's what we said a while ago. They would know he's sovereign.
They really believe. You see, God has made him the
heir of all things, made him ruler over all things, committed
all judgment under the sun. All judgment. You don't understand. If a person doesn't understand
that Jesus Christ is running this planet, they can call him the son of
God all they want to. But they really don't believe
He is. God is spirit, but God became a man and He's running
this show. Absolutely. Say all you want
to about believing that, but if people really believe, if
they really believe who He is, they would fear Him. They would
fear Him. They'd be scared to death to
use His name. Ah, people don't have a clue
about what sovereignty is. Back in the old days when there
was a king on a throne, I mean an absolute sovereign, a despot,
like David, a real king, you did not call him by his first
name. You didn't have a picture of
him as a baby in your house, would you? That's bringing him
down, isn't it? Isn't it? He's not a baby anymore. Thank God he did humble himself. become a child. He's not a baby
anymore, Ed, is he? He's not a baby. We don't worship
him as such. Anybody that does, they don't
know him. They don't know him. Do you have a picture of me as
a baby in your house? Wouldn't that be demeaning to
me? Huh? That's not how I am. You see
what I'm saying? If people knew him as a son of
God, They wouldn't be carried on with all this crap around
Christmastown and so forth, making over a baby and everybody dressing
up. The fear of the Lord, fear Him. They wouldn't blaspheme
His name. If people really knew Him, they
wouldn't blaspheme His name. They'd glorify Him. If people
really knew Him, if their people really believed, they'd worship
Him. I mean worship Him. They wouldn't go through all
this religious stuff. I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't
dare do it. Anything to blaspheme it. I ran into a fellow at the
building supply, and he knows I'm a preacher, and he said to
me, what did you all do for your kids on Halloween? You know,
back last Wednesday, all these so-called churches had all this
stuff. fun and games and candy. He said,
what do you do for your kids? I said, we got a worship service.
That's what the church does. They meet together to worship.
What do we do for our kids? We preach the truth to them.
I said, oh, you've got to get them in somehow. He said, God
doesn't need gimmicks to bring his people in. I didn't holler
at him like that. I wanted to. I wanted to shake
him. I said, God doesn't use gimmicks and business tactics
and have to bribe people and all that. So he said, I'll say
to the north wind, bring them in. God's Bible doesn't do things
like that and God's church don't do things like that. If they
knew Him, if they believed in the Son of God, they would worship
Him. And that's it. They get together,
they worship. That's all they do. Isn't that
right, Samuel? If people really feared God and
knew God and worshipped God, that would be all they do. Burn the gymnasium. Our Lord came into the temple
and they were doing all this stuff. They had programs for this and
programs for that and buying this and selling that. And then
there's a bunch of big country clubs. He said, get rid of it.
You clean house. He said, my house. God's house,
the church, is a pillar and a ground for what? Truth. You know, the
truth is sets you free. God's people, all they need to
worship is God. It's a great revealer. Who's
going to come worship God? Those that love God. That's right. I don't have to
bribe you to come here. I'm going to say, all I've got
to do is say, I'm going to preach God tonight. Come back Wednesday night, I'm
going to declare God to you. She'll be here. Barring something happen. Who's
going to come worship Jesus Christ? Those that love Him. It's a great
revealer, isn't it? A great revealer. That's how
you know Him. That's how you know. If I said
we're going to have a meeting Thursday night at 8 p.m. and we're going to talk about
Isaac Williams, who would be here? Jenny Williams. Why? She loves the sun. And if I stood up here, Jenny,
and talked for six hours, she'd be on the edge of her seat. And she might even say, let's
do this again next Thursday. Wouldn't she? Facts. Isn't that
a fact? Next week, we're going to get
together and we're going to talk about Roberta Soar. We're going
to honor Roberta Soar. Who's going to be here? Henry
Soar. He loves her. If they knew God,
if they knew Christ, if they really knew who He was and believed
who He was, if they feared Him, if they loved Him, that's all
they would do. Right? They know who God is,
the power, the greatness of His power, and it's the power that
God works on them from, Sammy. They know, I don't need, we don't
have to have these tricks and gimmicks. God didn't trick me
in here. Did He you? Did God have to bribe
you to bring you here? What kind of God do they have
anyway? What kind of God do they have? That's not my God. That's not their God. He doesn't
need stuff like that. God doesn't need anything. Well, I'm supposed to be wrapping
it up. Let me quit with this. Go back to Psalm 16. We're talking
about God's people, God's children. Christ said, They will all be
taught of the Father. Every man hath heard and learned
of the Father, they come to me. And they suffer, they're persecuted,
they're hated for the truth's sake. Christ the Son was hated, wasn't he? God's son. He was hated. And
they killed him. Why? The truth. Not for good works. The truth.
His sovereign claims, Nancy, that's why they killed him. You
say. It's what you say about yourself. And we don't believe
that. We will not have you reign over. We'll let you be a baby.
We'll let you be humanitarian. We'll let you give us what we
want. We'll let you have your way, maybe, and we'll let you,
let you, let you, let you, but don't be talking about you being
sovereign over all, giving things to whomsoever you will. No, we
will not have that. We're going to kill you. But
they did what God determined for them to do. And Christ said, You shall be
hated. If you're a son of God, you're
taught of God, You're taught who Christ is. I mean, you're
taught. You fear. You love him as son. You love the son. If you're God's
son, you love his son. That's just so. All the children
in my family love one another. And the eldest son. And you will
be hated. As he said so, you will suffer.
You will be hated. Why? For my name's sake. Look at Psalm 16. What do we
inherit? Psalm 16. Who are the heirs? Well, they
are the sons of God, and that is partway how you know them. What do we inherit? Here is David.
David is writing this. He is a son of God. God said
he was. In verse 5, David said, The Lord
is the portion of mine inheritance. Verse 6 says, and he said, and
the lions have fallen unto me in pleasant places. I have a
goodly inheritance. The Lord is my portion, my inheritance.
This is what I inherit. This is what God gives me. This
is what I'm an heir of, Jesus Christ. And he said, I sure do
have a good inheritance. Now, as I said, this is a great
revealer. If you talk about things, you
can talk about a new earth, and we could fill this building up.
If I put on the radio or newspaper that we're going to have an end-time
session and talk about the new earth, new creation, and all
of that, we could fill a building up. Uh-huh. Talk about the new earth, talk
about new bodies. Nobody's sick anymore. Brand
new bodies. And people sick in body. That
sounds great. Talk about no more sickness.
Talk about no more sorrow. Those who live sad lives will
show up. That's wonderful. That's great. Can't wait. Talk
about family. About a family reunion. Will
the circle be unbroken? No. No, it all won't be there. You're going to see mama and
daddy. And fill this place up. Fill it up. Get a crowd. But now Paul wrote in Ephesians
1, verse 3, he said, Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings
in heavenly things, where? In Christ. Meaning, here's the
first thing that God's people hear and just love the sound
of it. Mercy. I mean, well, God says, it doesn't
matter what you've done, where you've been, who you are. Mercy. Complete, total mercy. All manner of sin forgiven. And everything you have, are,
and shall, forgiven. Pardon. Full, free, unconditional,
eternal pardon for the guilty. Open the windows. We've got a
full pardon there. Who needs it? They don't need it. Not guilty. Grace. We've got grace. We've got gift from God. We've
got righteousness here. We've got righteousness. Complete
covering. A perfect covering. You'll be
presented before God holy, unblamable, unreprovable in God's sight.
Somebody is smiling right now when I said that. They must know
something. God must have taught them something.
Huh? Do you ever even hear those things?
John, have you ever in the last twenty years on the radio heard
anybody but me around here saying those things? But better yet, And David said
this in Psalm 73, 25, he said, Whom have I in heaven but thee? And he said, Really, there is
no one on earth I desire beside you. One thing have I desired,
and that will I seek after. All right? Here it is. All who, all the sons of God,
get to be with God forever. Be with Jesus Christ. Actually
get to hold and be held. See and be seen. Touch and be
touched. Talk to and be talked to. Walk
with and be walked with. The Son of the Most High God.
Your mama might not be there. Your daddy might not be there,
but he's there. Does that appeal to anybody? Who would that appeal
to? Christ lovers. I hope I see my father and mother
in glory. I love them, my brothers. But if I don't, the altogether
lovely ones there. That's what makes heaven, heaven.
Abraham, God said, Lot got the well-watered plains of Sodom. And Abraham was God had to remind him. He said, Abram, I am thy exceeding great reward. You get me. Psalm 119, thou art my portion,
David said. You see, there are two sons that
represent all mankind, Jacob and Esau. Jacob and Esau. Two sons that represent all mankind,
all religions, don't they? Those two boys, Jacob and Esau.
God said, Jacob have I loved. How do you know? Jacob loved
God. He loved God. Esau? How do you know he's not a son
of God? He sold the birthright. Have you been with me? The inheritance. Isn't that interesting? If you had told Esau that he
was going to be in the happy hunting ground all his life,
he'd just do nothing but hunt and eat bean soup. He said, I
won't sell that for nothing. Things, pie in the sky and a
sweet bun, buying with mama. Because God was his belly, Kelly. God was his belly. And he proved it. How? He sold
the birthright. His inheritance. That's what
the heir gets. You can have that. I don't want
that. You can have that gospel of sovereign grace. You can have
all that. I don't want that. Man, God's
people, God's sons say, you can have everything else but that.
Right? I won't sell it for nothing. That's how you know. Heirs of
God. Joint heirs. Christ gets it all,
and we get what He got. Equal. What? God. Eternal life. More abundant. Okay.
