He gives me every food of my
own, and food of my mother's own. Oh, may I see the end of
all, the great beginning, Thank you. That was written by John Newton,
a man after our own heart. All right, Song of Solomon. Song of Solomon. Perhaps this
should be properly titled Song of Jesus Christ, because it speaks
of And this is truly the word of a greater man of sovereignty. All right, it says, a psalm,
verse one, the psalm, the psalm of sovereignty, which is a psalm. A psalm. This is a psalm of Christ. some about him, a song from Christ,
some from him, to his church, and some of his church unto him. They sing back and forth. This
is a song. Now, like most of God's Word,
this is written to God's people. This is written to God's people.
It's very intimate. The language is very intimate
language, as you notice. God is jealous of his work. That's
what he's saying. It's not good for everyone. And I hate what men do to the
Word of God, but this is a precious word to God's people and from
God's people concerning Christ. That's intimate language that
belongs to... Do you have any love letters
from your wife or your husband? Do you keep any love letters?
Do you want everybody to read them? Why not? Because I was reading some of
my father's love letters to my mother one time. And they're
always wonderful. I know why he keeps every letter
with him. And that's what this is. A love letter. It's private. It's not meant for everyone.
Song is song. It's song. If you like music,
you like a song, you do a song. I don't think there's anyone
in here who doesn't enjoy a beautiful song. A song, you know, is a
powerful thing. Isn't it? A beautifully written
song, the words coupled with beautiful melody and so forth.
It's a powerful thing. It shares the emotions. And sometimes
it leaves very deep lasting impressions that you cannot get over. I was telling my daughter that
I hear some music that I've heard years and years ago and it brings
back memories that I can't put my finger on. A certain song
will make me feel melancholy. I want to spend time on going
through a song. Or whatever, you know. You feel
that way? Things bring up emotions within
you. Songs is a deep, there is a powerful
thing that surges emotions and they run deep and has lasting
effect. But this is called a song, a
song. This runs much deeper than the
question of emotions. This is a spirit, this is a spiritual
song. None like it. This is a psalm,
a psalm, and sung by Christ himself through the heart. It serves
as a deep and lasting emotion. It says it's Solomon's, penned
by him. Solomon would claim it. I mean,
Solomon would say, yes, I believe this. I wrote this saying, yes,
they were the depths of my heart concerning But now this is not
Solomon's word, this is Christ's word. He's the author of it,
and he's the subject of it. Solomon's psalms, which is Christ's.
All right? Verse 2. Now, verses 2 through
7, so you'll know whom is speaking. Verses 2 through 7 is the church,
is the believer, speaking of Christ. confessing or professing their
love for him and what he means to them and to Christ. Verses
2-7 is the believer speaking of Christ and speaking to Christ.
And then verses 8-11 is Christ speaking back to her. This verse is 12 through 17,
and it's the church of the believer again speaking tonight. You're
going to have to pay attention if you're going to get anything
out of it. All right. Verse 2. Let him kiss me with the kiss
of his mouth. I have a better mind. Just as a
song is one of the most powerful things we know of, a stirring
thing, bringing strong emotion, a kiss. A kiss is the most insolent
and powerful display of human emotion and love. That is the
way that you really express You're in love with someone, and it's
intimate between a husband and a wife. You just don't kiss anybody
on the mouth, do you? Kiss those truly near and dear
to you. Kiss. Well, the church, the believer
says concerning Christ, it's intimate, personal, intimate. As the psalmist says, say unto
my soul, I have found salvation. Every believer wants Christ personally
to speak to him or her very personally, very intimately and say, You're
mine, and I'm your husband. He's our husband. That's what
Solomon's saying. Every believer desires Christ
and desires that Christ would speak very intimately to them. Say that to me. He says, thy love is better,
the believer says, thy love is better than wine. Never mind these prudish people,
you know, that have an aversion to wine. Fine. Let them go on. Scripture speaks much of wine.
Much of wine. It says things like this concerning
wine. Wine makes gladness of heart.
Makes gladness of heart. Wine. The Scriptures, as a matter
of fact, tell us to utilize it, to use it, to have an additional
effect. Paul told young Timothy to use
it for stomach sake. So wine is spoken of in the Scriptures,
making glad the heart and soothing the stomach. It's a good thing. God made it. Our Lord drank it
with his disciples. And he compared, Elizabeth compares
the fellowship of Christ, the gospel, with Christ himself as
better than wine. It makes the heart glad. Truly, doesn't it? The gospel,
truly, the gospel drunk makes the heart glad. And I can't sit
up here and say that. You'd have to drink. I can't
sit up here and convince you how good this man is. He don't
know me. But the believer says his love
is better than wine. It makes glad the heart. It settles
you. The most sedative thing, the
gospel, is the only thing that settles these nerves in the heart. Yes, it is. Nothing will make
us truly glad except by assurance of Christ's love, too. You know,
the believer goes through all the time, and we go, we're up
and down. And nothing will soothe us and
make us more glad than coming and hearing the gospel and you
feel like he's speaking to you personally and assuring you personally
of his love for you. Huh? He'll go out of him, I do,
a glad, glad arm and say, glad that's so. All right, verse three,
he says, he or he says, the bride says, Because of the Savior, Thy name is as ointment. Thy name is as ointment. The
name of our God and Savior is as ointment. You use ointment?
I know you do. You women do. Every time I shake your hand, I get a drip. Ointment. You women love ointment. It's
a woman thing. Us men, we just don't. I just
don't like greasy hands, do you see? But ointment is good. Ointment is salve, so it is. The salve will soothe, the salve
will soften. The salve has, what do they call
that? What do they call that? Aromatherapy. The ointment is a sweet savor,
and it softens and soothes. His name is an ointment for the poor.
The Lord. I hate to hear people say, you
said that. It's too high and lofty and too
wonderful to call it. She loves the sound of that name,
Shepherd. That's the Shepherd. Oh, and
she looked up, Savior. Savior. We always despise the
name of Jesus. His name means Savior. It is
a beautiful name, John Newton. Those who really know it, how
precious it does sound to the believer here. The reason we're
so hesitant to use it, because this world is so abusive, and
the Jesus they speak of is another one. But now the name of Jesus is
precious. Oh, how sweet. Hope of earth
and joy of heaven. Jesus. Christ. Christ. Shepherd. Redeemer. Redeemer. Intercessor. Iethal. Substitute. Son of God. Holy One of Israel. Huh? Jehovah-Jireh. Somebody like that? That's a
sweet name, the Lord will provide. Jehovah-Rapha. If you're sick, that means something
to you. Jehovah-Nissi, the Lord our Father.
Jehovah-Shalom, the Lord our peace. Jehovah-Rehah, Jehovah-Sid-Kenned. I don't know, there's a smile. If I saw a smile on somebody,
it must be a sinner. Jehovah-Sid-Kenned, the Lord
our righteous. We're Jehovah's Witnesses. That
name means Jehovah-Shaman, the Lord Ever-Present. His name is
like sweet ointment. Those who just eat it, they're
all precious. And we might mention that every
name is to be exalted, not to be used commonly. Use my name,
use Dan's name, use Henry's name, but don't use the name of the
Lord unless it's careful. His name is an ointment. Thy
name is an ointment for the poor, therefore do the virgins love
thee. The virgins. Scripture calls
all of God's people virgins. This is a paradox, isn't it?
They like Gomer. They were hard and wouldn't play
foul with him. But then he goes... He's so completely changed himself.
And he, he, he thinks of them as if they never had anybody
near them. That's what the Scripture says
about, in the Revelation, that they're all, all the people of
God are as virgins, betrothed, because they're betrothed to
one man. Whenever Christ comes to them and expresses His love
to them and and sheds upon the love of God in their heart, then
from that day forward, they're betrothed to one man. That's why they're called virgins,
and they don't have eyes to anybody else. You understand what I'm
talking about? I'm talking about the Christ
description. I'm talking about Jesus Christ the Lord. The true
Christ. Once the Christ is revealed to
you and you have a love for His person, you don't like to hear
of anybody else. Any other than Jesus. You don't
want anything to do with Him. You're betrothed to Him from
that day forward. You love Him only. And you wait
to be joined with Him someday. You're not going to give yourself,
anybody, anything completely, you're waiting to go with Him. That's what I would call a person. You see? Now, humanist species,
if you fall in love with the right man, if he's a good man,
fall in love with the right man, Nobody else will do it. What
are you looking at Ed for? Ah, I agree with you. You've got a good point. He outmarried
himself. And vice versa. So this is When you hear Christ,
you don't want anything. You don't want any other gospel.
It's all in love with the right man, and knowing none other will
do. None other will do. Our Christ
is better, isn't Him. Our gospel is better than anything
else. They can't just love more than
we love Jesus. He didn't have this, they call him their savior,
but he just stands on the sidelines and lets them perish. He didn't
have Him. Our Christ. Verse 4, every believer
says this, draw me. Draw me. It's personal. Draw me. Draw me to yourself, draw me
to the courts of love, the courts of a man, the courts of Christ. Draw me. Now look at this, but
he said, and we will run after this. What's my desire, your
desire. What's your desire, my desire.
What's my desire, thy desire. All believers have the same desire.
And you know what I desire for me, I desire for you. This is
the reason our Lord said, don't praise just yourself. Oh yes,
pray, Lord, forgive me, but also pray, Lord, forgive us for our
sins. You see, the language of Scripture
is so perfect, isn't it? And we'll run. All of us. Draw me. What I desire, you desire. Draw me. But don't just draw
me. Draw them. Lord. Draw them. Draw this man. Help him. Lord, help him. Now, remember this. Lord. Now this is just the way
the Lord operates now. If you pray for other people,
this is you. We don't do it for that reason.
We pray for others because we love them and are concerned about
them, but this is the way the Lord operates. You pray for others,
He'll bless you. That's the way He does it. Christ
is a strange example of that, is He not? He never asked for
His own help, nor did He help others. And God blessed Him and gave
Him a name of the Spirit. Draw me, yes, and we'll run after
you. We will run after you, all of us together. He, verse four,
hath brought me into his chambers. He hath. Oh, blessed is the man
whom thou choosest. And it's all the same approach,
isn't it? I have loved thee with an everlasting
love. He said, therefore, with loving
kindness have I drawn thee. I've drawn thee. Blessed
God, I have been brought and drawn into this chamber." See,
that's talking about his secret bed chamber. You share his secrets
with your wife, or your husband, who? Sure you do. I've heard
a lot of it here in America. You share secrets with your intimate
companions. You don't share with others.
So is with the Lord and His people. He's hid these things from the
world, from the wise and prudent, but to His bride He's revealed
them. He's brought us into His inner
chambers and revealed unto us deep secrets. Deep secrets. He's brought me into His chambers,
intimate fellowship, a hidden thing for me to get. Who has?
Who is this we're talking about? This is the king. The king has brought me into
his chamber. The king. Ladies, do you wonder why so
many women would marry one man like Solomon? You ever thought about that,
Melvin? Why all these women? Would you do that? Would you
join 699 other women and marry Winslow? I mean, Winslow's a
nice guy. Boy, I don't know about that. Solomon must have been a Solomon. Right? He must have been something
special. God didn't bless him with above
every man up to that point, did he not? With some, he must have
been a little tender, kind. Well, the scriptures, I've already
quoted it, are greater than Solomon. Much greater than Solomon. 700 women? He had 700 hundred
women. And none of them were jealous
of the other. And none of them feel left out. He's that wonderful. The King. Yes, Solomon must have
been a special man. He must have been. I'd like to
have known him. But, uh, I'm grateful to Solomon. The King brought me into his
chambers. We, we, we, all of us, all of us had enough wine,
yes, for God's joy. Yes, we will. We'll be glad and
rejoice in what? Who does the bride rejoice in? Early days, golden streak. No, Him. We'll rejoice in Thee. See, He's the cause of our rejoicing.
We will remember. This is what we're going to remember.
John, this is what we're going to be singing about throughout
all eternity. We'll never forget it. We'll remember God. unto him
that hath not loved us, me." Loved us and washed us from our
sins. Who will remember thy love more than one? Well, the upright,
it says, the upright love thee. Our margin says, they love thee
uprightly. They love Him, you see. This
is what it is to love upright, to love right, to truly love
from the heart. It's to love His person. It's
to love Christ and Him crucified. No, you can't get out of Him.
That's not love. What if you were to marry that
man? What if that man married you for your money, Allison?
I said, no, that's not true. No, no, no. You're speaking to
somebody. Anybody here with money. Nobody here's a qualified one.
So, we must have been beloved. Right? And one of us lived in
a trailer or something when we got married. It wasn't love. It was a very, very huge problem. It was a huge automobile issue. Terrible. She still hasn't gotten
what she said to Cooper yet. Ah, boy. And so this is upright
love. You see, this is the right kind
of love. You love Him because who He is. That's the reason you can't wait
to get married. You can't wait until you get
a big mansion and all the big stockpile of money. You're not
marrying money. You're marrying a person. And
the believer that comes to Christ and hears the gospel and is enamored
with it and falls in love with Him, not that they need a new
job and leave all this stuff. You see, that's upright love.
You see that? That's what that means. Upright love, they love
the upright love. Verse 5, but this every believer,
here's the amazing thing that every believer wanders at and
will never get over. So every believer is amazing. You know, people saying that,
I resent people singing Amazing Grace. I resent that. I know
John Lutheran would. He's a man that knew something
about amazing grace. The grace that we believe in
is amazing grace. It's not just a pretty song we
sung about a wooden nest and all these sentimental gospel
singers. The grace that we believe in,
a sovereign mercy and grace and a saving, electing grace to the
unlovely, to the undeserving, is amazing. And we'll never get
over it. It's amazing. And this is what
we say in verse 5 about ourselves. I'm black. Oh, and He loves me. Some believe this is a woman,
a Shulamite woman, a black woman. Solomon was rather many women,
I should say. Red, yellow, black, white, silver,
brown. That's a good picture, isn't
it? Christ, he has a people of every tribe, kindred, nation.
You know, that may be why he had 700 wives. I keep coming
up with these reasons. to have one of their tribe kindred.
This type of Christ is not. This woman was a black woman.
She said, why did you love me? She looked over there at this
beautiful woman from wherever. The word used to look at her,
and she's, you know, just plain, slain or whatever. And he said,
I'm glad you choose me. Could have any more, any more.
Why would he take me? Is that what you said? Huh? Is that what
you said about yourself? Did you say, I'm the black sheep
of this family? Huh? Why would he have me? I
don't understand why he had Margaret, in fact. She's as sweet as she
can be. I don't understand why he had
some of these sweet people. Why me? Why would he have anything
to do with me? I'm black. See that? But, my Lord, I'm but a commoner. Here's the paradox of it. I'm right but a commoner. I'm
the chief of sinners, yep. If He married me, I'm accepted
in the beloved. I'm righteous and proud. I'm
the chief of sinners, but somehow I'm holy. in him. Paradox. Read on. It says, uh, uh, O,
ye daughters of Jerusalem. Do you feel that way, O, ye daughters
of Jerusalem? Hmm? You feel like you're black? He goes on to say that as the
tents of Kidar, these are old smoke-filled, smoke-covered Egyptian
tents that these fellows drove around all over the country.
You can imagine what an old tent would look like out here. That's what he's comparing himself
to. He, I'm not going to beat up
him. I'll be well with him, with me.
But now look, I'm as the curtains of Solomon. On the inside, it's that new
creature in Christ, created under two good works that he's put
on the inside. This is paradox, you know that?
Believer is a paradox. It was the tents of Kedar, but
the curtains of Solomon. I am completely to blame for
my sins, yet I'm unblamed. I am no good. In my flesh there
are no good things, but I'm without a spot of good. Thank God he looks on Christ
and that new man created in his image. And then the believer
says this as if he or she is embarrassed for the Lord to look
on them. Verse 6, Don't look on me, look
not on me, but because I am black. Look not on me, look on Christ.
But not on me, because the Son hath looked upon thee with sin,
this world with sin, and ruled over it, and hath scorched my
flesh, and in my flesh doth another. Are you with me?" And he said,
she says, my mother's children are angry with me. The man's
supposed to be in the midst of me, supposed to be his own household,
a believer. I agree with them. They made
me the keeper of the vineyards, off-showering servant, and my
own vineyard I haven't even kept. I've been negligent of my own
self. But, the believer says, I long
for fellowship with Christ. I don't want to be left out,
though I don't feel like I belong. in Christ's church and with his
family. I don't feel like I belong with
the rest of these beautiful sheep. I'm the black one. But, verse
7, it said, tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, every believer
cries unto Christ, tell me where your feet is, for that's where
I will be. Tell me where your flock is, going to rest, where
they're going to rest at noon, And why should I be the one to
turn it inside and out of the box that I am? I don't want to
be left out. Do you see what I'm saying? Don't
feel like you ought to be inquisitive. Hmm? Feel like you're missing
the least of all the saints, don't you? Feel like you're the
chief of sinners, the worst one in here, and the Lord can do
without anybody but me. But you say, I don't want to
be left out. Lord, don't leave me now. Tell
me where you're at, and I'll just take you back. Where you're feeding, tell me
where you're feeding. Where your flocks are, that's where I want
to be. That's where I want to be. The cry of the Lord. I don't know why you should love
me or want me, have me, but I don't want to be left out. Now here's
Christ talking to His church, beginning with verse 8. Are those
the feelings of your heart of God and Jerusalem? Huh? Do you feel that way about Christ? I know you do. You love Him. I want to be turned aside.
I want to be a companion of those who fear thee." Verse 8, and
he says, "'Tis thou knoweth not, don't you know?" I don't know if I don't believe
that or not. You don't? Don't you know? This is what
he says, "'Tis thou knoweth not, don't you know?" Do you remember
what our Lord said to Philip? Philip said, Lord, show us the
power, and that's how. All of them were upset, remember?
Thomas said, we don't know where you're going, we don't know the
way, Sidney, we don't know. He started with Peter, he said,
Peter, you're going to deny me, but I'll pray for you, let not
your heart be troubled. Do you believe in God? As a pilot, he said that you
believe in God. You do! I don't know. Christ said that to his people.
You believe in God. Because he put it there. He knows
who believes in God. Because he put it there. You
believe in God. They all told me. In my father's
house and many mansions. If it were not so, I would have
told you. He's truth in that. He is the truth. He can't lie.
Everything he said is truth. He said, I go to prepare a place
for you, and if I go away, I'll come again and receive you myself.
Come back. And the way where I go, you know
the way I know, Father. I said, where are you going?
He said, you do. You do know the way. You do know. Don't you know? I sure hope I'm
a she. Do you like what you've heard
so far? Do you like this dress? Ghosts don't bite. Let me tell
you a tin can. If you won't eat it, sounds good
to me. Sounds pretty good. Pretty good
evidence that you're a she, don't you know? You're here, aren't
you? Why are you here? Why'd you come
here? I mean, sure you listen to beautiful
music and all that, isn't it? We're not doing anything here
but we're preaching Christ. Why are you here? Why'd you come?
That's pretty good evidence, isn't it? That's pretty good
evidence. If you don't know why you're
here, Yep, you're here. That's what it is. You know,
Christ is really outgrown. Outgrown. Tell me. If you know not, then here's
what you do, verse 8. If you really don't know, if
you really don't know if you're a sheep, you don't know if you
really believe Christ or love Christ, if all of this is not,
you know, if you don't know, O thou fairest among women, Verse
8, he says, Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock,
feed thy kids beside the shepherd's tent. In other words, you just
stay right there with the flock until, you know, just keep eating, keep hearing,
keep rubbing shoulders with the sheep, until it finally dawns
on them. Remember that scripture? Until the day dawns, the day
starts, dawns, in your heart you realize It's good, isn't it? I love this. I love these people. I love being here. And I'm not
here because I don't want to be here. That's not natural.
That's just not natural. It's natural for the place to
go home and around. But when God puts His love for Christ
in you, you fall in love with it.
He didn't. He followed up with his people.
And everything about it, it's just a good place to live. He's
just straight right there, he said. He followed the footsteps
of the flock. He followed them and they're
following the flock. Look at verse 9. I like this.
I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses and fair
old shirts. Now, there's just a few of us
in here that can really appreciate this. Do you have a portion? I think they're one of the most
beautiful preachers that's ever made. My God, it's just gorgeous. You have to be around those gifts. I really, really appreciate that.
You don't realize what a servant a man horses can be, what God
created when He created the horse. How did He add them? He got right
on the woman's back, right out of the garden, and man could ride on them and
plow on them, and they've been their servants ever since. He compares his people. You may not like being compared
to a beautiful horse. But now, back then, back in the
Middle East, man, men loved the horses more than their wives. Well, it's not even done just
in the Middle East. The old west! I told that good old boy, Kelly,
you know, he didn't have no old woman, he had his horse. But
our Lord here compares His people to beautiful horses belonging
to a great and illustrious king, Pharaoh. Solomon was a friend
of Pharaoh, married one of his daughters, and many more. Solomon
was a lover and admirer of horses. He had 40,000 horses. And he got them all to meet you,
but in error, every one of them. You reckon they was holding knives
and shovels? You reckon he got them at the
auction? Coach, he paid a hundred and fifty shekels apiece. Forty thousand. Nobody's as good
as Matt. I figured that out pretty quick.
I've already done it. It's equivalent to about a billion
dollars. Okay. In other words, the king paid
a princely sum for his king. He hand-picked them out of Egypt,
chose them for his own service, put them in school, and they
were known to be the barns of man. They wanted a place to live. They were in the king's service. I compared them to other beautiful
horses. I hadn't shown them. They had,
you're bald with pride, John. John Davis, 157 pounds. At least. Hand-picked, they're
called in the scriptures a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation of peculiar people, bearing the name of their God.
This is in verses 10 and 11. It talks about how He adorns
these horses. Thy sheep are cuddling with rows
of jewels. Have you ever seen horses in
full harness with all the decamite? Especially over in Italy. Have
you ever seen them? Dynamic chains of gold, borders of gold with
studs of silver. Folks, we shall see to that in
this, in our society. Have you ever seen both wives
of Clydesdale, Clydesdale folks? Now I, maybe y'all haven't. You've
got to see them in the back, up close. They're just wonderful. Are the southern states getting
some of this great virtue on them? silver and black and, ooh,
man, that just chills us to the spine. Beautiful, decked out
with all those ornaments and all that. All of them, harnessed
together, costly, harnessed together for the McCain flag. You see, get the imagery here.
God compares His people to beautiful horses, bejects, with the name
of God on their foreheads, robed in Christ's righteousness, with
a marriage of truth and spirit, clothed together. And the church in love is a sight
to see. It's a sight to see. Solomon's the one who wrote this
too. He said, Oh, how beautiful, how pleasant it is for brethren
to dwell together in unity. Some of you have been in these
so-called churches where all they did was fuss and fight.
Huh? I remember, I'll never forget
old Joe Park telling me about being a part of some religious
group here locally. All they did was fuss and fight
and fuss and fight and argue over the curtains and carpets
and stuff. It was stupid. And if you didn't get spanked
on the full bit, that's all you got to talk about. And Joe, he
told me, a man, he told me that one day after the service he
went home and sat on his bed and just wrote down a prayer
and said, it's got to be something better than this. But I assure
you it is an answer. I assure you. We ain't had it
for us in the past 13 years. It'll be 13 years soon. I can't
wait. And it's not due to me, it's
because we're all united together. King horses, all the king horses,
and all the kings. Join together, pull it together. We've got one wagon we bear,
one load, one burden we're bearing. Huh? We're marching as one. Christ, Christ. All right. Now,
here's the church talking back to him, very quickly, and I want
to just deal with all of it. Verse 12. Here's the church,
the believers, talking back to the Lord. While the king sitteth
at his table, my pastor sendeth forth his men. While the king
is running and sitting at the table, It's just, it's nice, it's good,
it's pleasant. If the king's not right, it's
not very good. Like old Milt Fisher, huh? When King David was gone away,
Milt Fisher didn't wash himself, didn't anoint himself. Old times,
David was gone. And when the king came back,
all right. Just back at that table. Even
when you're away from the gospel a little while, it's a miserable
time. But when the King goes up to
the table, That's what this gospel, that's what we're doing right
here, you know? We're gathering around the table. Do you know
of anything you enjoy more than getting around a table with brothers
and sisters and good food and good fellowship? Is there anything
more to it? I love it. I love it. That's
not just a sign of old age. It's, it's a, well, maybe it
is. Or what we really look forward
to is just sitting around a table, eating good food, fellowship
with the League. We get excited. I hate the League. And we did Sunday, not just Saturday,
Saturday before 10. That's what we're going to do. He's prepared us a table in the
midst of our meeting. He's taught us that. He's prepared
us a table. And when the king comes in himself and sits and
says, it's good. It's good. When he himself serves
us up, it's good. The king sits and says, well,
why don't you say my scripture? My spiker would send the pork
to smell well. Well, you remember the woman
in the New Testament for Christ to sit in there with the Pharisees. You remember the woman came in,
a great sinner, came in weeping. She had a box full of spikers,
a costly one, but she set it up just for him and opened it
and poured it on his head. And it says, Jerome filled the
room. So the believer, when the king sits at his table, the believer
comes in, and all of their praises and all of their enjoyments and
all of their thanks and all that they do there is unto him. It's
unto him. It goes forth unto him. We were talking today about herbs,
and if you don't ever plant anything in your garden, any herb in your
garden, plant basil. I know what I'm talking about.
I've got a garden full of herbs. It's the most... Well, you didn't
even have to smell it. Wouldn't you, man? After a rain,
especially after a rain in the summertime, just plant it just
so you can smell what I'm talking about. All right? Just go get
your little pot and put it in your garden somewhere. And come
summertime, after a little rain, you go out there, it's wild. There's nothing like it. And
that's the thing that I can, the bundle of whatever that I
can, the best I can come up with as far as something we can smell,
a bundle of myrrh, that's the most pleasant thing of all. Well,
everything that embodies Christ, all the sources of Christ, the
bundle, Everything that goes together to make another person
work, this bubble, this is like murder, this whole thing. I wish
I had the ability to, I don't. It's by the Spirit. The Spirit
of God has to make it pleasant unto you. And this betwixt my
breast, that's Christ in the heart. Christ in the heart. Once He's in the heart, everything's
fine. We're having all of you by us,
on your heart. Verse 14, My beloved is unto
me as a cluster of camphor, and the vineyards are engaged. I
looked, I started to worry about it, and I don't know if there's
any pure camphor. Camphor for me is supposed to
sustain such good scent, you know. That's one reason you can't
get a big bottle of it, you know. But your grandmother, your mother,
and maybe you used it when you were a kid. It's a pungent, aromatic,
closest thing we could have to this is eucalyptus. There were
all of our cough drops and things that go into that. I wanted my
big salve, all that stuff. It said, well, it'll open you
up, clear you up, straighten you up, perk you up. Huh? I wanted to have a bottle. I wanted to just try to open
it while you were in here. I guarantee you it's broiler
back there in the summer. You know, just move it up. It's
so pungent, so aromatic. Such is the gospel, the gospel
of Christ. For beauty, for aroma, cleansing,
It'll open you up, and it'll clean you up, Jerry, it'll clean
you out. You love that psalm, and I'll
tell you about it next. It's the word clean. Clean. Verse 15, I've got to hurry.
Behold, now this is the believer talking about Christ. Thou art
fair, my love, my companion. Thou art fair. Can't you say
anything more? Well, no, we're going to go on
to five pieces of this prayer. This prayer. Thou hast dove's
eyes. Dove's eyes to innocence. Have
you ever looked at a dove? Hmm? The eyes of a dove. Have you ever looked at the light
of a dove? Innocence. Clarity. Pure. Hmm. The eyes of Christ. Don't you know how it was when
he looked on a different one? Looked right at me. I've been old. Verse 16. That's how it was there. This is pretty nice. Because
the triune God. It's fair. Fair means just perfect. Mindful of it. Yet pleasant.
Now, he's pleasant. Everything about him is just
pleasant, pleasing. Pleasing doesn't look pleasant to me.
I like the sound of that word, pleasant. There's a verse of
scripture that says, I love this, that all the subjects of David,
it says, they considered him worth more than ten thousand
to them, and it says everything the king did, Do you remember reading that
to him? Everything that the king did, he said, he completed it.
He was such a good king. Now, the lines that follow these
are pleasant. Right? He chose my inheritance
to perform for me. Go on. And I bet his dream, ever
laying out in a green field of grass, It doesn't like it. It doesn't like it. Well, try
it. Give it a hint. Give it a hint.
He ain't never smelled it. If he hasn't ever smelled it,
what does he smell? It's an herb. Basil! You need to smell it. If you
haven't ever laid in a lane, however you say that, in a big
old tall field of green grass, you need to do it before you
die. Just one look, you can't look at the sky, the stars, the
blue sky, you'll hear what I hear. It's the wind. And these grains,
this bed of grains, huh? These scriptures of grains. And
here's something else. Read on. Beams of our houses
are cedar. And our rastas are fir. Ever smell of cedar? Huh? Now, Rasmus III is a beautiful
florist of wood, pure grain, beautiful to look at. He's trying to build this theater. This house, it's about half. It's a beautiful place. It smells good. It's full of
beautiful people. It's right there, isn't it? Aren't
you? I don't know if this smells good,
too. I don't know if I can stand it. And our Lord, we thank You for
Your Word. It is aromatic indeed. It is sweet smelling savor Christ
Himself and the fellowship, sweet savor, sweet fellowship we have
around Him with Your precious people. Thank You for each one
of them. And thank You, each one of us
personally, thank You for including us in this. In the family of
Jesus, we thank you for everything that you've done for us in Christ. Thank you for having me.
