All right, go back to Mark chapter
five with Mark chapter five. There are two stories here, and
I. I want to deal with both of them, but I believe they're intertwined. Story of a man with a sick daughter.
daughter at the point of death and story of a woman with an
issue of blood. And the reason I want to deal
with both is because I'm certain that both of these are here present
this morning. A man or a woman with a dying
daughter or dying son. Or a man or a woman with a blood
issue. I'm certain that both of these
characters are in here this morning. And there's only one hope for
both of them. You know that? Same hope. Only one. There's one cure for all. The
Savior of sinners. All right. The Lord was on his
way back from healing that demon-possessed fellow. He was on his way back.
Here's a little footnote to Wednesday night's message. Do you know
what they went through to get back to the, or get over across
this ocean? When they got in that boat, Brother
Henry, and they started in that boat across, I bet they wondered, you know,
what are we going to go through? But the wind picked up, maybe. Maybe
it did. A few waves. What do you think
they thought? They had a little more courage
than they did. coming across this. Just a footnote
to Wednesday night's message. Add that. Edit that in. Our Lord was on His way back
from healing this demon fellow. Our Lord left one place. He left one shore and went all
the way across this vast gulf to get to save this one fellow. He got in a ship and went back.
One man traveled all this way, went through all of that. That's
exactly what our Lord did. He left the Father's throne,
the other side. That's where we're at, the other
side. He left that and came here through this stormy place to
save the likes of a few of us. Everything our Lord did was in
the direction of saving His lost sheep. Every step He took, no
random step. Everything was purposed by God.
Every step he took was in the direction of one of his lost
sheep. He went looking for them to find
them. Well, can our Lord do both of
these at the same time? Can He take care of my issue
and also save my son and daughter too? You know, there may be somebody
in here that's both of these in one. Yes, the Lord can, and he does.
The Lord can and does take care of both these things. Verse 21, here in chapter 5,
verse 21, it says, When Jesus was passed over again by ship
unto the other side, much people gathered unto him. Down in verse
24, it says, Much people followed him and thronged him. Everywhere
our Lord went, He attracted a crowd. They followed Him, they thronged
Him. Now, most of the time in the Scriptures, it says that
the Lord did not commit Himself to them. Most of the time, these
big crowds of people, the Lord did not save them all. Much later at Pentecost and another
time, but before that, no. And it says that he knew what
was in them, he didn't commit to them, huge crowds followed
him because they mostly followed him. As sightseers, they were
he was healing and and casting out devils and feeding people,
and they were. They followed him. thronged them. As now, people looking for sightseers
and miracle-seeking and job-seeking and this and that and the other
seeking, but in the midst of this great throng of people,
a vast crowd of people, there were two persons, two needy,
really needy, that really had a need, two beggars. Two seekers, two that came, they
needed Christ. Verse 22, the first fellow, Jairus,
becometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name.
And when he saw Christ, when he saw the Lord, he fell at his
feet. Jairus came, he saw, he fell. Jairus came, he saw, he fell. There's a picture of salvation,
you know. Everyone who comes to Christ, you come to Christ,
you see him as he is. You're the one in whose hands
you are, and your daughter is, and everything about you is in
his hands. The very breath you breathe, you see who he is, you'll
fall. You'll fall down and greatly
beseech him. You've got to do something for
him. Well, it is speak, worship, plead,
plead with the Lord. Verse 23, He besought him greatly. You know, if you have a great
need, you will plead greatly. A great need requires a great
plea, doesn't it? He besought him greatly. He had a real need. He wasn't playing. games. He wasn't going through the motion.
He sure wasn't coming to the Lord with his lips. This man
comes from the heart. He had something that was...
He had to have it or die. Great plea. A great need requires
a great plea. And he said, verse 23, My little
daughter, lieth at the point of death, I pray thee, I beg
thee, I beseech thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she
may be healed, and she shall live." Like the next story, you know
this man tried everything he could, don't you? You know he
called upon many. You know he did. He called upon
the doctor first, I'm certain of that. called upon friends
and tried every home remedy and so forth, he tried himself. And
I know that he was thinking, I've tried everything and everyone,
and unless you lay hold of her, she's going to die. And Jairus is in here this morning. Lord, I've tried everything I
can with my son or my daughter. I've taken him or her to everybody
I know. I've asked this person, that
person. I've tried my son or my daughter,
my husband, my wife, my mother, my father, Lord. If you don't
lay hold on them, they're going to die. If you don't lay hold
on them, they're going to die. You're the only one that can
do it. I know that now. I've tried everything. If you
don't do something, lay hold, she's dead." Well, the Lord went with him.
Verse 24, the Lord went with him. Well, in the meantime, now this
is wonderful. Why did this happen like it did?
This is wonderful. The Lord's Word is just perfect. I wouldn't have wrote this story
like this. I'd have gone ahead and told the story. No, but there's
a little intermission. There's an interruption. Verse
24, Christ went with him, and much people followed him and
thronged him. They crowded around him, a big
crowd. Here's this fellow, the Lord's going with this fellow,
and he's walking with the fellow toward his house, and a big crowd
just gets around and just smothers him. And this fella gets kind
of pushed to the side. Old Jairus gets pushed out of
the way, you know. Everybody's crowding around the
Lord. Seems like the Lord here was
sidetracked by people and things. See, this fella came to Him,
Lord, You don't do something quick. She's going to die. She's at
the point of death. Hurry. Come home with me now. Hurry.
Please, now. I need this done now. Huh? But he got sidetracked. People
and things. Or was he? And I know, in the course of
it, he lost, Jairus lost sight of the Lord. Oh, no. He was coming
home with me. He lost him in the crowd. And
I know he started getting upset and distraught. But this delay was necessary. Our Lord had other pressing issues. Are you listening? There were
other pressing issues. You see, we don't have a right
or a priority to God. Do it. My son, my daughter, my
husband, my wife, my family, me. I don't have a right or priority
upon God. What if you don't do something
now? Well, he's going to do it in his good time. It's not according
to my time. And I'll get all bent out of
shape if he doesn't do it now. You know that Jairus was, oh
no! He was coming with me, now he's
not. Looks like he's going to do something.
He looks like the Lord's working. He's moving. What happened? Huh? Is anybody with me here? I thought he was going to do
something. Sure looked like it. Things have gotten in the way.
But know this for your comfort, folks, that we don't have priorities. with God. He has His priorities. Everything is known unto God
are all His works from the beginning, and everything is going according
to His all-wise, sovereign purpose and will and good pleasure. The
wheels of God's sovereign providence are rolling right along. Believe
me, you don't want to move that wheel any faster. It throws things
out of whack. What if the man, what if he had
gone right on? There's a woman that needs him
back. What if he'd hurried on down?
There's a woman that missed him. Huh? You ask old Jairus later on,
are you kind of glad he delayed? There's a woman that got what
she needed. Yeah, I sure am. You see, and our Lord does what
he does for his greater glory. Like Lazarus laying in the grave
four days, stinking. Boy, he's dead now, isn't he?
There's no doubt about it. Why didn't the Lord come heal,
raise Lazarus after one day? Well, they'd have called it a
fluke. Two days. Well, he could hold his breath two days. Three
days. Four days, he's dead. He's stinking. Everybody knows it. Now watch. for his greater glory and for
our patience. You know that? Our Lord does
these things for our patience. And let me ask you the same thing.
We ask old Jairus, could you be happy if the Lord would delay
dealing with your child or whoever it may be to take care of some
old woman, some poor woman's issue? Huh? Would you be willing? Would that
make you happy? Would you be just as happy? Would you be just as happy and
just as thankful if the Lord would heal somebody else as opposed
to your daughter or son? Would you? I hope so. Just pretty much count on it.
He will heal you if that's your attitude. That's the way he does
things. All right, well, there was a
certain woman. Verse 25, a certain woman. Not just any old woman, a certain
woman. Our Lord deals with, He saves
certain ones. Yes, they're called His elect.
They have been, Scripture says, foreknown, predestinated, called
and chosen. Certain people. Certain ones. He knows them all. He came to
save every one of them. And He did it. She had an issue
of blood, verse 25, a certain woman which had an issue of blood
twelve years. She had a blood, either a blood
disorder or severe monthly cycles that left her weak and sickly
so that she could not function normally. She was a ill, frail, anemic, dying woman. She couldn't take this much longer.
Twelve years, can you imagine? Got an issue and it was a blood
issue. Problem in her blood. This is
by design. This story is by design. You
see, that's our problem. That's the issue with us. We
have something in our blood that's killing us. What is it? Sin. We got an issue and it's in our
blood. We got it from our daddy. We got it. We've got Adam's blood
in us. We have AIDS. We have spiritual
AIDS that's killing us all. And it's only one hope. Yes,
the issue is sin in all our bloods, and we can't stop the flow of
it. We can't stop the flow of sin. Unless the Lord does, we're
gone. If the Lord doesn't deal with
us in mercy and grace, we'll die in and from our sin. Well,
verse 26. It says that this woman had suffered
many things of many physicians. She went to these fellows who
thought, who told her she'd feel better. No, she suffered at their
hands. These fellows who had told her,
told her many things, many things to do. You know how
these old Those old ignorant physicians used to be years ago.
They did some crazy things, people. You remember how they used to
bleed people? Or, you know, they used to close
a room up, close all the windows, not let any fresh air in a room.
They didn't want germs to get in. What the person needed was
fresh air. You know, they actually honestly, this is true. Years
and years ago, they didn't believe in really washing somebody up.
Didn't want to. There was a protective coating
of dirt or something to keep the germs. I'm serious. These
were the learned medical scholars of their day. Am I telling the
truth? Some of you ladies have studied Rebecca. That's true.
They didn't believe. Don't wash this person. Germs
will get through. The very thing they needed to
do. But these experts and people hung on their every word, Brother
Henry. They hung on their every word. What do you say, Doctor?
Bleed them. Let nearly all the blood out
of their body. They need blood, Barbara. Don't take it out. They need blood. Boy, if that
isn't a picture of modern religion. Let's take the blood out of it. It's the whole problem. Take
the blood out. No, they need blood. They need
more blood the better. Well, I never forget hearing
old brother Jack Shanks preach from this years ago when I was
just a young believer. While this may be clever, these
things may be clever to you when you hear them, there's a note
of truth in this. There's truth behind this, all
right? This lady went to many quacks,
many pretended experts. She went to old Dr. Easy-Believism. Dr. Easy-Believism. Just believe. And she tried that. Just believe. But she found in
herself unbelief. She couldn't just believe on
her own. So she went to old U.B. Baptized. Old Dr. U.B. Baptized. And he was practicing in practice
with a fellow named I. Will Duncan. And they did this a lot. And so if you'll do that, lady,
all your troubles will be over. She did that. They dumped her
and dumped her and dumped her. Well, she went to old Dr. B,
a church member. That'll do it. Join us. And we got it. They don't have
it. We have it. You come, you'll get it. Get
it? Well, he didn't work. Church
membership didn't work. So she went to old Dr. F, you
quit that. If you quit that. And he was in practice with a
Mr. T.O. Newley. Dr. T.O. Turnover Newley. If
you just quit that, quit that, quit this, quit that, don't do
this, do that, you'll be fine, lady. She did not help her. She
tried to quit that. Tried to quit this and that. She did quit that. But something
else came up. She went, old doctor, you better
keep the law. Well, doctor, you better keep
the law. She tried that. None of them. Suffered at all
of their hands. Tried all of them. And it says
here that she was not any better at all. Suffered many things
of many positions. She spent all she had. Isn't
that significant? Every one of them required a
big fee. Pay. Pay. None of them made house
calls. And every one of them required
a big fee. You'll pay me so much, I'll help you. Spent all she had, and was not
better, on the contrary, but rather, she grew worse. She spent a lifetime, folks.
You know, there are many folks, many folks spend a long time,
year, twelve years, twenty years, thirty years, looking, searching
for peace, happiness, something. And they go turn to religion.
They turn to anything. Turn to the world. They turn
to religion, especially religion. And they're no better. Religion
will make you worse. I'm telling you the truth. Just
religion will make you worse. Because listen to me. Listen
to me. There's no one more miserable,
no one in this world more miserable than a religious but lost person. You see, now they've quit everything
and now they can't even have fun. They're lost and now they're
plumb miserable. Can't do anything. Got to sit
around and be miserable. I'm telling you the truth. Religion
will not only make you worse, it'll make you self-righteous,
make you think you're good when you're not. It'll keep you away
from the great position. Religion will keep you away from
the great position. See, this illness, this abiding
sickness, this constant plague that was in her is what finally
drove her to Christ. It's the only one that could
help her. It didn't keep her away. Her sins didn't keep her
away. It drove her to Him. Finally, there's only one person
that can help her. But if she'd have got a little
better, and they all treated the symptoms, you see. Every
one of these doctors treated the symptoms. They may have given
her a little bit of relief. Give her a drug, you know. She'd
take this drug. I'd feel better. Hey, that works.
And it did for a while. Till she'd go to sleep and it'd
wear off and she'd wake up and she'd still got this issue. You see? All these different
fellows, and they treat the symptoms. Not a one of them can take care
of the disease. Only one can. You see, it's not our sins. I'm
too bad to come to Christ. There ain't no such animal. There
ain't no such creature. Ask a thief on the cross. It's
the man hanging on the cross. He didn't do nothing but an out-and-out
devil. He was literally hours away from
facing God, a murderer and a thief. Just a moment ago, he'd been
cussing Christ. But God, who is rich in mercy,
for His great love and mercy and wondrous purpose and sovereign
grace, looked on that rotten, no good, hell-deserving thief
hanging there and said, Son, Lord, man, if there is hope for
that guy, there is hope for any old devil in here. Our sins don't
keep us from Christ. It's our goodness. Self-righteousness. Long as she had a little bit
of relief from her... See, this is people's problem.
Why don't people come to church? They're not sinners. Why don't people come to worship
God? Why don't people need this gospel that we're preaching?
Because they don't need it. Huh? Man, if a fella, the Lord
ever brings somebody to the end of themselves to see what they
are, then they'll run to Christ. They'll crawl to Christ. That's
what this woman said. I'll crawl if I have to. Ain't nothing and
nobody going to keep me from Him now. I've got one hope. Oh, I hope there's one with an
issue out there. I know there is. I just hope you know it. She heard of Christ. She heard
of the Lord Jesus. Verse 27, when she had heard
of Jesus. Oh, my. Everybody in here has
heard of Him. Oh, we will have to hear from
Him. Well, anyway, somebody told her, some person had told her
about the great physician. There's a fellow. There's a man.
Who? Oh, I've seen him heal the worst
lepers. He actually healed a man who
was absolutely covered with leprosy. I saw him heal a man who was
sick of the palsy. I mean, he was shriveled up,
lying on his bed. He was a goner. No hope for him. I saw him leap up and stand and
walk. I saw him heal a blind man. Yeah,
I just saw him. A man who was absolutely blind. He couldn't see anything. And
the next moment, I know, he was seeing. And on and on the stories went.
And she heard about this and thought, I'm too bad for him
to heal. Oh, no. Faith cometh by hearing, hearing
of Christ, hearing the Word. Christ the Word. We don't just need to hear the
Bible preached. You need to hear Christ speak
to you. A lot of Bible out there. We ought to take that back. Anyway, she had been told what
she needed to do. Up to this point, people had
been telling her, do this, do that, do this, do that. Go here. Go there. Don't do this. Don't
do that. Try this. Try that. Isn't it
significant, folks, that you see that a lot? Try everything.
Try God. You don't try God. That's not salvation. It's coming
on your hands and knees and begging God. It's not try God. If He
doesn't work, try something else. He ain't a cough remedy. He's the one in whom we live
and move and have our being. I'm going to quit apologizing
for talking about this stuff today. I'm going to quit apologizing.
It is blasphemy. It absolutely, they are blatant
and brazen and bold to blaspheme our God, and I'm going to be
bold to denounce them. So put up with it. I'm going
to quit apologizing. I put up with all that stuff
I can handle. I really have had it up to here
with this religious generation. Blaspheming my God and my Christ
and this Word. Dragging it through the mud.
I'm tired of it. Call a wolf a wolf. Don't apologize. You're saving the sheep. Well, they told her, do this,
do that, what to do, what not to do. Finally, somebody said,
what you need, what you really need, all you really need is
to get to Christ. That's it. Not this other stuff. I don't care what everybody else
has told you. You've got one hope. It's Jesus Christ. And that's when we'll come to
Him. We finally come to Ourself. Verse 27 and 28. So when she
had heard of Him, she came in the press behind. Touched his garment. She said,
if I can just touch his clothes, I'll be whole. She came up behind. She'd have
come to a worship service. She'd have sat on the back row,
came up behind the press, behind the crowd. She didn't feel worthy,
you see, to be up front. She had an issue. Everybody knew
it. She knew it. She didn't come
to be seen anyway. She wasn't coming to be seen
or be heard. She wanted to touch Christ. And she thought, I'm not going
to go up there in front with all those good apostles. She thought in her mind that
the great master doesn't need me, but I sure need him. The sovereign Lord doesn't need
me. I'm not worthy to be seen or heard, but I literally. And she did. She crawled
through this crowd. Verse 29, it says, straightway, right away, the fountain dried
up. The issue was gone. This overflowing issue could
not be stopped by any man. It was gone. It was gone. All of it. She's
had it twelve years, John. That's all she's ever known.
It's gone. I tell you, ever, Christ, when
you come to Christ, He says about that sin issue that's plagued
you all your life, it's gone. It's gone. And it says, look at it, this
is interesting, verse 29. And her blood was dried up. Now,
this was an inward thing, was it not? This was an inward problem. That's significant. It wasn't necessarily, although
it did manifest itself outward signs. I'm sure she was pale
and thin and weak, but yet this was an inward problem. If we
could take care of this inward problem, the outside would take
care of itself, wouldn't it? Huh? That's our problem. And it says
that immediately, verse twenty nine, when she touched Christ.
She felt in her body. She was healed. When she got
to Christ, she touched his clothes. She felt in her. Something's happened. And while
it may not have immediately manifested itself out, I believe it probably
did, Tammy, I believe probably the color came to her cheek.
I know a smile came to her face. I bet a sparkle got in her eye.
I bet her step picked up a little bit. She was hunkered down lowly,
and when, boy, when she, virtue came out of cry, I bet she hopped. She felt it. She felt it then. Now listen, this is important.
Don't wait for a feeling to come to Christ. Don't wait for a feeling
to come to Christ. Well, I'll feel this. I'll feel
that. Don't even wait to feel sinful enough. You'll never do
that. You'll never feel sinful enough.
As a matter of fact, you feel more
sinful as the years go by. After you come to Christ, you'll
start feeling more sinful. I can't explain that. It's just
so interesting. But here's the thing about it.
Don't wait for a feeling. Come as a needy sinner. Just
come, and feelings will follow. Yes, they will. Come to Christ,
and the peace will come then. Then the joy follows. Salvation
follows. The only need we need to feel,
the only thing we need to feel is our need of Christ. You know,
that's the only thing we need to feel. Do you need Christ? We don't know how bad we need
him. But if you need this, what I'm preaching here, what's going
on here, like this woman, that's all you need to feel. And you
need to come to Christ. Just touch the hem of his garment.
Just touch the hem of his garment. What's that? What is that? Garment. Huh? What is that garment? That's
that robe that Christ was wearing, that seamless robe He wore all
His life. Until they stripped Him of it. Remember? They stripped Him of
it. That's Christ's righteousness.
When He was made sin on that cross, they stripped Him of that
robe. That robe went to an old sinner. Just touch it. He's got the righteousness of
every sinner indeed. Just touch it. Well, verse 30 says, Christ immediately
knowing in Himself that virtue had gone out of Him. What saved
this woman? Was it her touch? Was it her
calling? Was it her endeavor? Was it her
need? Oh, no, it was virtue that came
from Christ. That's what saved this woman.
Virtue came out of Him. Folks, we are saved by virtue
of the Lord Jesus Christ. By virtue of His righteousness
clothing our nakedness. By virtue of His blood paying
for our sin. His blood. He didn't just say,
I forgive you. He paid for those sins. Our blood
issue is a blood issue. The issue with us, Jenny, is
blood, and the only way it's done away with is blood, the
blood of Christ, paid for our sins. So we're saved by virtue
of Christ, what comes from Him. Verse 31. Immediately, he knew virtue had
gone out of him, turned about him about in the press and said,
Who touched my clothes? Who touched me? Verse thirty-two.
And he looked around about. Verse thirty-one. Disciples. The disciples said, Why, Lord? Everybody's touching you. Everybody's
around you. Groping and grappling for you.
You know they were touching him and handling him, swarming around
him, bumping up against him, throwing their arms around. Huh?
Hey, disciple, what do you mean, who touched you? Everybody's
touching you. Isn't everybody touching you?
No! Somebody touched me. Somebody laid hold on me. Somebody really needy had to have me. And it said, he knew. Why was
he asking this? Who touched me? Why was he asking
this? Again, he wasn't asking. The
king doesn't ask things. He commands. He's commanding
that whoever it was that needed him, that came to him, that touched
him, tell everybody. Demand it. Confess it. Who touched me? Who needs me? Who is it out there that came
to me as a poor, needy, helpless Who touched me? Tell everybody right now. But the woman, verse thirty-three,
he looked round about to see her. You see? Isn't that, in God's word, perfect?
Isn't it wonderful? He looked round about. Who's
he looking for? Why, he's already looking at
her. He's got his eye on her. He always did have his eye on
her, Sherry. Who touched her? He's looking. He knows. He scanned
the crowd, and she said, He's looking at me. I remember, I remember when the
Lord first, the gospel first lit on me. I remember being one
of the face in the crowd. The people that sit in here actually
right now try to hide behind the person in front of them.
Seriously. Literally, sit. He doesn't see me. Yeah, I do. I see you. Why'd
you come here if you don't want to look at me? I see him do that. I did that for 20 years. Maybe
he won't see me. He looked around the crowd to
see her. And he scanned that crowd. You
know, he just scanned right by her and she said, he's looking
at me. He's talking to me. Isn't it
so? Is it so with you? Was it so
with you, Stephen? Was it so with you, Mary? He's
talking to me. Nobody else but me. You see, he looked around the
press to see her. Isn't that beautiful? God's Word. God's power. God's power, God's Word can speak
to a whole mass of people and an arrow sticks right in one
person. God's arrow, He can fire in a
crowd and miss everybody but the one He intended. They'd be
hiding behind the person in front of them. Shoot right through
that person. It'd go right through the person
in front of them. They'd not hear a thing. Who touched me? Verse 33, the
woman fearing. What's the first reaction of
a saved sinner? I still don't deserve to come
up front. I still don't deserve to be on
the front row. I'm still a nobody, fear and
trembling, but knowing what was done in her. Are you with me,
woman? Knowing what the Lord had done
for her. I've got to tell it. I've got
to tell it. And it says she came up and told
all the truth. Told everybody. Well, verse 34, Our Lord, this
is the first thing he says to every one of his people. Daughter,
thy faith has made thee whole. Go in peace, peace, peace, peace. Be whole of thy plague. Be whole. You know, the believer in Christ,
that one who, like that demoniac before her, he was only in his
right mind when finally he came to Christ. Then he was in his
right mind. And you know, a person is only whole, a real person,
a real man, a real husband, a real wife, a real citizen, a real
person when they come to Christ. You know that? They'll be a whole
person. In body, mind, soul, and spirit,
a whole person. They won't lack anything. The mind of Christ, the walk by faith,
the purpose of life now, they've got a purpose. God's put me here. Didn't know where I was headed
or what I was doing or where I was going for. Heading down a cliff.
But now, I'm walking with Christ. And I don't know where He's putting
me, uh, taking me, but I know who's leading me. Huh? Purpahole! Led by the Spirit, led by God's
Word. Before, we were led by the pigs.
First, pig feeders are Every wind or whatever it was, that's
what we went after. Now, what's our guide? What is
our lamp? Well, by God's grace, I know
what I'm supposed to do. Well, look now, there's another
fellow. He's waiting. There's another
fellow. He's waiting over there. He's
watching. He's listening. Jairus. Did you forget about
Jairus? The Lord hadn't. He hadn't forgot about Jairus'
daughter either. He had another daughter to take care of. Well, down in verse 35, look
at this. I can't quit here, folks. Your
daughter's life depends on this. Verse thirty-five, While he yet
spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain
which said, Your daughter is dead, don't trouble the master
any more. She's not worth troubling him. She's dead. What good is she?
She's dead. Don't trouble him. Don't bother
him. She's dead. Is there anybody worth the trouble? Is there anybody in too much
trouble? Is there anybody the Lord won't
stop to deal with? She's just 12 years old. What
do you need with a 12-year-old dead girl? Don't trouble Him anymore. Well,
the Lord didn't listen to them. and told the man not to listen
to them. Verse 36, as soon as Christ heard the word that was
spoken, he said unto the ruler of the synagogue, don't be afraid,
believe. Anybody got a dead daughter,
dead son? Twelve, eighteen, twenty, twenty-five,
thirty, thirty-five, dead husband, dead wife, dead father, mother,
dead whatever? They're worth the Lord's trouble.
And they're not. Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid
to believe. Huh? But you don't know him. He's my brother-in-law. My brother-in-law,
he means a thing. He treats my sister like dirt. I wish he was dead. He is. That's
his problem. But you don't know what a mean
fellow he is. You don't know what... Yeah, but I do know who
can heal him. And you just won't believe who
he is and the difference. He'll go from dead to alive. Change will be drastic. Believe? Why not believe? Why don't we
believe, huh? Why don't we? Folks, I guarantee you, you're
looking at one fellow that years ago everybody in 13th Street
thought, don't worry about him. Ain't no sense in messing with
him. You might as well quit praying for him. He'd be the last one, Lord said. I believe anybody be saved but
him. Huh? You can't believe that, can you,
Dan? All you've ever seen me is like this. You can't believe it. But believe it. Believe it. The Lord saves prodigals. Prodigal
sons and daughters. Prodigal sons and daughters. Verse 36, to leave. Verse 37, He suffered no man
to follow Him. Say, Peter, James, John, the
brother of James. Our Lord has chosen disciples. He has His chosen men. And see, He suffered no man to follow.
Get out of here. Leave us alone. There's a bunch
of fellows, people around to leave. You know, it is good to
shelter your children from religious myths. I would tell every one
of you, don't let your children go to these other places to a
seemingly harmless sleepover or lock-in or Bible school. Don't do it, folks. shelter them. Our Lord didn't.
He didn't allow anybody but His chosen preachers. Did He? Is
that right? Nobody but the Father and the
Mother. And He introduced the Father
and the Mother to these three faithful men chosen of His, Peter,
James, and John. These are mine. They're with
me. They're my hand chosen. They'll do you good. They ain't
in this for a name for themselves. They're not in it to chalk up
your daughter as one of their conquests. They're not in it
to get a name for themselves or glory for themselves. They're
with me. They're really interested in her, not her soul. They're with me. You listen to them. Not anybody
else. You see that? Get out of here,
all the rest of you guys. Peter, Jay, John, you're coming
with me. You're going to be associated with me. They're going to see
that what I do, you do. What I'm in, you're in. The mind
I have, yours is mine. He's sanctioned them right there,
you see. Before the eyes of these parents. But don't turn your
kids over. I'd just as soon as you turn
them over to drug pushers. I'm serious. I'm serious. Don't put them in the hands of
somebody that doesn't know your God. Don't you dare do it. Like that woman, they'll be worse.
They'll make a profession. They won't ever need Christ. I'm telling you the truth as
a faithful pastor. Don't let them go out there.
I'd rather them wallow in the gutter. and to go in one of these
Baptist places and make a professional living. I tell you the truth. Now you listen to me, or I ain't
worth a spit. My parents faithfully, growing
up, how strong is your God anyway?
My parents didn't shield me from the world, and it didn't completely
turn me over to it. But nevertheless, I went out
to public school, friends out in the world. What other friends
am I going to have? Huh? No kids my age. Save. Go out
there in the world. How strong is God anyway? Is
my God strong out there? He's got to hide me in a cave? Our Lord didn't shield His children
from the world. He put them out in it. God's God out there as much as
He is in here. But I tell you one thing, they
would not let me do it. They wouldn't let me go to another
so-called church with anybody. But Dad, it's, you know, everybody
goes there and it's just a camp. Yeah, camp, and there's wolves
in camp, and they're waiting on you little ones, and they're
going to play the burning hell on video and scare the hell out
of you, and you'll make a profession, and you'll think you're all right,
and you'll trust it the rest of your life. Now, this needs to be heard. Well, shield them from... You
see that? God's Word is perfect. He had
three men. He said, these are my men. Mom,
Dad, these are my men. They're with me. Not the rest
of these. These men. And you can tell them,
can't you? Oh, you can spot them in a minute. I've got to go on. He cometh
to the house, verse 38, of the ruler, and seeth the two mulch,
and them that wept and wailed greatly. And when he was come
in, he said unto them, Why make thee this to do? And weep. Danzel's not dead, but sleepeth."
Folks, every one of his people is chosen. They never die. Do you believe that? He that
believeth Christ, all of God's elect, will never die. You know
that? They will never die. Never. Not one of God's people
have ever died. You say, Adam, what are you talking
about? I didn't say that. Christ did. They didn't understand
him either when he said it. Martha, he was talking to Martha,
or Mary, and Mary and her husband was dead. He was in the grave,
and he said, Mary, He that believeth in me will never die. Do you
believe that? He's a free man. He wouldn't begrudge him sleep,
would he? No. He don't want to wake him up.
Sleep's good. Everybody needs sleep. Rest. He's rested. Do not disturb. He's asleep. Well, they laughed.
They laughed. Verse 40, to scorn. I don't believe
that for a minute. She's dead. But when he put them
all out, see that? Get out of here. He took the
father and the mother of the damsel and them that were with
him, and entered in where the damsel was lying, took the damsel
by the hand. He laid hold on this dead daughter
and said to her, and only he has the power to
say it. I wish I could, but I can't. And I'm not talking in tongues.
Palapecuma, which is be an interpreter. Damsel, Christ lives unto you. Right. That's straight way. She did.
But Damsel arose and walked. Twelve years of age. Can a twelve year old walk with
Christ? Well, I haven't seen it in my lifetime, but yeah,
I can. I can. And who saw that? Our Lord did. And they were astonished, with
a great astonishment. And He charged them straightly,
immediately, no man should know it. Don't make a big to-do of
this. And commanded, now here's the
first thing He said she needs. She's alive now. She's alive. She's walking. She believes. Walking by family. What does
she need? Look, join this. Join that. Let's do this. Ask
that woman. Maybe that woman was standing
outside. The woman with the issue. And fellas, yeah, you need to
start taking this now. The reason you died is because
you weren't drinking this or doing that. The woman with the issue said,
honey, don't you listen to them at all? You listen to Christ. Whatever
He says, you do it. What did He say to do? Eat. You just need to eat. The more
the better. That and that. God's Word. I just know there's a gyrus and
a woman with an issue in here. Well, maybe it's the opposite
way. A gyrus woman and a Man, we're an issue. I just know it
so. I know it is. There's only one
hope. All right. This thing of closing him. And
I couldn't stop. I preached too long, but you
see how they're joined together, these stories? I couldn't quit. I couldn't quit. All right. Brother, Steve, I
forgot the number. 235. Come up if you would, please.
Let's stand as we sing 235. Let's sing 1st, 2nd and 4th verses,
OK? Leave out the 3rd. 1st, 2nd and 4th
verses. Ask me not, O gentle Savior. I'm sorry. uh...
