Testing one, two. I sure am happy
to be with you all. I tell you, I really do love and esteem this
church. I esteem your pastor. Count him,
I reckon, my dearest friend. And I'm just glad to be here.
Todd's Road Grace Church, it is Todd's Road. I didn't call
it that because it's Todd. She thought that was an indication
that we ought to get that lot because it was on Todd's Road.
She thought that's a sign. We got another preacher's mother
here, and they have a tendency to have unduly high views of
their children. Did Paul ever tell you about
the time Paul and I were preaching in a conference together in Ashland? And in this particular conference,
Pastor Mahan had assigned topics. Romans 5, the book of Romans. He assigned me Romans 5, and
he assigned his boy Romans 8. And my mother said, can you believe
he gave him Romans 8? Anybody can preach out of Romans
8. He gave you the hardest one in the whole chapter. I said,
well, yeah, I know. Well, that's a mother for you, isn't it? She
said she was just kidding, but I guess there's probably a lot
of seriousness to it too. Galatians chapter 1. Galatians chapter one, I want
to speak to you this evening on the subject, the reason for
faith, the reason for faith, why a man
believes, why a believer believes. One day recently, I was reading
in the book of Acts In Acts chapter two about the day of Pentecost. And on that day, three thousand
people were literally converted. Truly saved. Scripture tells
us that. I don't mean Billy Graham trickery. I'm not talking about
just getting a bunch of people down the aisle. I mean where
three thousand people actually came to a knowledge of the Lord
Jesus Christ. And I thought that is incredible.
These people who just shortly before had hated Christ now loved
him. These people who shortly before
had crucified Christ now trusted him as their only hope of salvation. These people who surely before
they didn't believe he was God, they saw him hanging there up
on that cross, they didn't think this was the mighty creator of
the universe. Now all these men and women genuinely
believed that he was nobody less than God Almighty. Isn't that
amazing? What's the reason for these people's
faith? Now, I think that's incredible.
I mean, these these folks, not too far back, hated Christ. Now,
all of a sudden, they loved him. What's the reason for their faith? Well, it wasn't simply because
Peter was able to talk them into it when he was preaching on the
day of Pentecost. Something much more than that
took place that caused them to believe. While I was thinking
about these people, I thought about the Apostle Paul's explanation
for his faith. And in Galatians chapter one,
he tells us the reason for his faith. Now, I've noticed a lot
of preachers, for instance, James Kennedy, you all heard him on
TV or the radio. He's got a book entitled The
Reason I Believe. And he gives all these intellectual
arguments for why he believes. I heard Jerry Falwell say this
once. He said, I believe in Jesus Christ, or I believe in the devil,
just like I do Jesus Christ. Now, what he meant by that is
I believe in Christ intellectually, just like I do the devil. I believe
in the devil intellectually, just like I believe in Christ.
In other words, he's convinced intellectually that there is
a Christ. It's not a true believing on Christ. Now, that's not what
I'm talking about. I'm not talking about just intellectually believing
there was a man by the name of Jesus Christ who was crucified. I'm talking about faith. Now
look in Galatians chapter one. Paul says in verse six, he says,
I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called
you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel. Which is
not another, but there be some that trouble you and would pervert
the gospel of Christ. But though we or an angel from
heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we preached
unto you, let him be accursed, damned, sent to hell. Now that's what that means. As
we said before, so say I now again. If any man preach any
other gospel unto you than that which you have received, let
him be accursed." Now here, Paul makes a seemingly exclusive,
some would say narrow-minded, bigoted, some would even say
unloving statement. He says, if anybody preaches
any other gospel to you exactly than the one that I preached,
Let him be sent to hell. I got to thinking about that. If you're going to say somebody
doesn't preach the gospel, say this along with it, let them
be accursed. That's why you're better be careful
when you say he doesn't preach the gospel. Be careful, because
if you say that, say the other part, too, because that's what's
going to happen to him. Let them be accursed, sent to
hell. Now, before you get mad at Paul
for being so dogmatic and unbending, before your righteous indignation
overcomes you when you see somebody who thinks their way is the only
way, when we see that boy, and that's the way Paul seems, doesn't
he? Boy, he's so dogmatic about this. Remember who inspired him to
say this? God, the Holy Spirit. If any man preach any other gospel,
let him be sent to hell. Now look in verse 10. For do
I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? For
if I yet please men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Paul says, who do you think I'm trying to please in the first
place in preaching this message? Men or God? Now, I want you to
believe what I say. I really do, and I want you to
be pleased with what I say. Paul would preach, we want folks
to be pleased with what we say, don't we? I mean, I don't want
folks to get mad at me. I want them to appreciate what
I say and so on. But, you know, I'm a whole lot
more concerned that God be pleased with what I say. You see, I'm
seeking to honor Him. What I say, there's an audience
that's much more important to me than you, as important as
you are. I want God Almighty to be pleased
with what I say about His Son. Paul says that's who I'm seeking
to please. I'm seeking to exalt and glorify and honor the Lord
Jesus Christ in what I say. And if what I say pleases God,
it'll please you too. You'll like it. That's what you
want to hear if you're a child of God. Everything that exalts
Him, that gives Him all the glory, you say, Amen, I like that. Our job, and this is very important,
our job is not to gain converts, it's to preach the gospel. That's
what Paul meant when he said in 1 Corinthians 1 17, he said,
Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not
with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made
of none effect. Now, anytime I have a motive other than the
glory of God, I'll change my message. We've seen so many people
do that. Paul goes on to say in verse
11, but I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached
of me is not after man. Now, there's no doubt about this,
the gospel which was preached of me, the gospel that he says
you seem to have left, that at one time you seemed to love,
but you don't seem to love it anymore. That's what he's saying
to these Galatians. He said, I marvel at you that you're so
soon removed from him that called you to the grace of Christ unto
another gospel. Now, this gospel which was preached of me is not
after man. It was not derived from any human
source. Now, the obvious question that
comes to our mind is what is the gospel that Paul preached?
He said the gospel which was preached of me, that gospel that
he said if you don't preach this exact gospel, you're to be cursed
and you're to be damned. What is this gospel that the
Apostle Paul preached? Well, over in 1 Corinthians chapter
15, I think we have the closest thing to a formal definition
of the gospel that we find anywhere in the Bible. Look in verse 11. Paul says, therefore, whether
it were I or they, so we preached or so we preach, and so you believe. Now, Paul says in that 11th verse,
Here's what we preach. Here's what you believe. Now,
if you believe the gospel, Paul defines it here in these verses
before what he says in verse 11. This is what we preach when
we preach the gospel. And this is what you believe if you believe
the gospel. So look on up in this chapter,
verse one, he says, Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you
the gospel, the gospel, which I preached unto you, which also
you've received and wherein you stand, by which also you're saved. If you keep in memory what I
preached unto you, unless you believed in vain, For I delivered
unto you, first of all, that which I also received, how that
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that he
was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the
Scriptures. Now, I believe this is the clearest
definition of the gospel anywhere in the Bible. Not just that Christ
died for our sins, everybody says that, but it's how that
he died for our sins according to the scriptures. Now, what's
that mean? Well, go back to the Passover. That's how the Christ
died for our sins, according to the scriptures. The Passover.
Was that blood over everybody's door or just the Israelites? Just the Israelites. Was anybody who had the blood
mark over their doorway damned anyway, even though they might
have been extra wicked people? What if it was the worst one
of the bunch? the most wicked Israelite of the bunch. If the
blood was over his door, he was still safe, wasn't he? It's the
blood that makes the atonement for the soul. Who had to see
the blood? You ever thought about that? God said, when I see the blood,
I'll pass over you. You know, sometimes I can't see
it. Sometimes I can't, but thank God he always does. It's important
that he sees. He said, when I see the blood,
I'll pass over you. Could you be saved if you were
to put something else up instead of the blood? What if you said,
well, I'm going to put up some gold up? What would have happened?
You wouldn't have been saved. What if you refuse the blood? No salvation. That's how the
Christ died for our sins, according to Scripture. What about the
Day of Atonement? That high priest went into the Holy of Holies,
into the very presence of God. Did any old body come in there?
No, just one person, the high priest. What did he offer up? The blood, the blood of the sacrificial
lamb. What about that scapegoat? When
the high priest put his hands on the scapegoat, that scapegoat
was driven into the wilderness. They didn't see it anymore. That's
what happens to the sins of God's people. That's how Christ died
for our sins, according to the scripture. What about over in
the book of Numbers when the children of Israel had been complaining
and the Lord told Moses to put that serpent on the pole? What
happened when somebody looked at that serpent? Everybody that
was bitten, when they looked, they were healed. You know, this
thing of looking, it's such a simple thing. You can be blind and look.
Did you know that? If Bartimaeus, he was, he couldn't
see Christ when he first started coming to him, could he? He was
moving in that direction though. And that's, he was looking, looking
that way. Now the gospel is a message about
Christ crucified, how that he died for our sins according to
the Scriptures. How did he die for our sins according
to the Scriptures? This is the most precious thing to me, and
I know it is to you, too, if you're a child of God. When he
died on Calvary's tree, he didn't just make me savable. He didn't
just make my salvation possible. My surety took care of all my
sins, and they're gone, and there's no way I'm going to have to give
an account for them. Christ took care of. That's the gospel, according
to the scriptures. That's the gospel that Paul preached.
Now, stay in 1 Corinthians 15. Look what he says in verses 10. He talks about how the Christ
was seen of witnesses and so on. Look what he says in verse
10. This is the motto of every child of God. But by the grace
of God, I am what I am. Now, you can say that from your
heart if you're a child of God. I don't give my works any of
the credit and salvation. I don't give my efforts or my
desire or my free will or anything I tend to do any of the credit.
By the grace of God, I am what I am, His sovereign, electing,
redeeming grace. There's only one of two options.
Either you say, I am what I am by something I've done or by
what He did for me. Now, every child of God says,
I am what I am by the grace of God. They know that. They experience
it. Now, that's the gospel Paul preached.
So we preached, verse 11. Somebody said that's so-so preaching. So we preached and so you believe. Now let's go back to our text.
I hope that's clear. I know it is. I know what your
pastor preaches. That's the gospel Paul preached.
He says, the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. It's not derived from man. It's
not invented by man. It's not for the glory of man.
It's not even primarily for man. It's for the glory of God. The
gospel that was preached of me is not after man. Verse 12, For
I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but
by the revelation of Jesus Christ. I didn't receive it from man.
I wasn't talked into it by man. That's what it is. That's all
that means. I wasn't just convinced of it by man. A fellow came up
to Roland Hill once, and he was drunk. And he said, Mr. Hill, I'm one
of your converts. He said, yeah, I can tell you're
one of mine. Obviously, you're not one of
God's. This fellow got talked into it
by man. Also, as I didn't receive the gospel, I believe for man,
neither was I taught it. I didn't decide to be a Christian
because of intellectual arguments where you make a decision to
become a Christian. You know, you don't decide to
believe. I mean, it's not a decision you
believe because you don't have any choice. I mean, you've got
to have Christ, you know. Can you imagine that fellow when
he was running to that city of refuge, running as hard as he
can? Can you imagine him stopping there and saying, well, am I
going to go in or not? It didn't work that way, did it? He knew
he had to. Two plus two equals four. Well,
am I going to believe that or not? You don't have any choice.
Faith is not a decision. Faith is, you don't have any
choice but to believe. If you don't have Christ, you're
going to be damned. It's not, well, am I going to believe or
not? Of course. If you see your need of him, you've got to have
him. You've got to have his mercy. Paul said, I never received to
the man, neither was I taught it. And here's the reason for
faith, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. That's the reason
for faith. Revelation, we're going to see
a few more, but here's the first one I want you to see the revelation
of Jesus Christ. My wife, I can tell a story since
she's not here. It's not really a story, it's
an illustration. I wouldn't give it if she was here, so you all
don't tell on me. But one of her complaints about
me is that I don't make myself known to her enough. You know,
kind of these things, you know, and she really makes herself
known to me. She tells me everything. Sometimes I almost say, I wish
you wouldn't tell me the things you tell me. But she tells me
everything and she says, you know, how can I know you if you
don't tell me what's in your heart? And I got to thinking
about that. You know, The only way you can know somebody is
if they make themselves known to you. You can tell them everything
about yourself. Paul, I can tell you my, I wouldn't
dare do it, but I could tell you my inmost thoughts and all
my desires and fears and so on. You'd know all about me, but
I still wouldn't know you. I'm totally dependent on you to make
yourself known to me. That's what revelation is. It's
God making himself known to you. Turning the lights on it. Revelation
simply means an uncovering. He uncovers himself. I can't
see him. I can't know him until he's pleased
to reveal himself to me. Why did those 3000 on Pentecost
believe? Revelation. Not education, not
intellectual arguments, not a decision. God turned on the light and there
was a time in my life Where God said, I'm going to open my heart,
I'm going to make myself known. That's when I believed, when
God revealed himself to me. Verse 13, for you've heard of
my conversation in times past in the Jews religion. have it
beyond measure. I persecuted the Church of God
and I wasted it. I profited in the Jews religion
above many my equals in my own nation being more exceedingly
zealous of the tradition of my father's. I was doing right well
in religion, he says. I mean, I was doing better than
anybody else. I was somebody. But, I love the
buts in Scripture, don't you? But, when it pleased God who
separated me from my mother's womb and called me by His grace. When will you say, Paul? When it please God. You know, people are always talking
about an experience they had that gives them assurance of
salvation. What makes you think you're saved?
Well, way back when I believed, I repented. You know, I don't
have any confidence in anything that happened to me even yesterday.
I really don't. I mean, I don't know what I was
thinking when that happened. You say, when will you say, well,
when it please God, there's an answer I can give. Paul said,
when it please God. Now, this is the ultimate reason
for faith, the pleasure of God. The reason for the revelation
of Christ can only be found in the good pleasure of God. Turn
with me to Matthew 11. It's one of my favorite passages
of Scripture, Matthew 11. I know you're all familiar with
it. The Lord says, verse 25 of Matthew
11, At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father,
Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things. What things? The things of salvation. He hid these things. And Christ
thanked him for it. He did, didn't he? As a matter
of fact, in Luke's account, did you know this is the only time
we ever read where the Lord rejoiced? At that time, the Lord rejoiced
in spirit. We don't read it. We read a lot
where he was a man of sorrows, where he wept and so on. But
this is where he rejoiced. He rejoiced. He thanked the Father.
How come that he's hid these things? from the wise in their
own eyes, the prudent in their own eyes, and has done what?
Revealed them unto babes. How come? Here's the only reason
I can find for faith. Even so, Father, for so it seemed
good in thy sight. Matthew 16. This is where the Lord had said
to his disciples, whom do men say that I, the son of man, am?
And they said, well, they say pretty good things. Some say
you're Elijah, some Moses, some Elisha, Jeremiah, one of the
prophets. And he said, whom do you say
that I am? And Peter said, thou art the Christ, the son of the
living God. And look what the Lord says to
him. He says in verse 17, And Jesus answered and said unto
him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona. For flesh and blood
has not revealed it unto thee, but my Father, which is in heaven."
Now that's the reason for faith, the pleasure of God. I could
tell you, I don't want to take the time to do it, but read Romans
9 when you get a chance. You talk about, I know you've
all read it, Jacob and Esau. God loved Jacob. He hated Esau. He saved Jacob. He passed by
Esau. How come? Well, who are you to
reply against God? Is it unfair for God? Well, you
know that. Why are men saved? Why do men
believe the sovereign pleasure of God? Now, let's go on reading
in our text in Galatians 1. He says, But would it please
God who separated me from my mother's womb and called me by
His grace? Now, Paul goes on to give an
record of how he was saved. And, you know, if you're saved,
I'm sure every one of us are thinking as we were seeing the
reason, the scriptural reason for faith. Now we're asking ourselves,
do I got it? I see the reason for faith. I
see it's the gift of God's grace. I see we're dependent on the
sovereignty of God. Do I have it? Do I have this
faith? What is that's what I want to
know. Well, Paul gives us a record of how he was saved. And if you're
saved, you're saved the same way he was. Exactly, you'll experience
the same things. Paul said over in 1 Timothy 1.16
that he was a pattern. God saved him to make him a pattern
of how he'd save sinners. And if you are truly a child
of God, you will have experienced the same things Paul has. Now,
I'm not talking about seeing a bright light on the road to
Damascus. I'm talking about you'll believe the same things he did.
Paul said, I am what I am by the grace of God. You say, it's
me too. Same way I've saved. Now look what he says. Now here's,
Paul gives us his salvation account. He says, would it please God
who separated me from my mother's womb? He's talking about God's
electing grace. And he called me by his grace. Now whenever God separates somebody
in election, he calls them by his grace. Now remember, election's
not salvation. Paul didn't just say I was elect
and stop there. He said he called me by his grace. The question that naturally arises
in my mind, have I been called? You ever ask yourself that question?
Have I been called? Well, those that have been called,
notice Paul said, he called me by his grace. Have you been called
by works or by grace? Do you give your free will the
credit? Do you give your efforts the credit? Do you give your
natural native spirituality the credit? Or do you give grace
the credit? Now, see, this is something a
child of God, this is not just high theological platitudes.
This is just something we expect. If you're a child of God, you
know it was his grace that called you. You know you never would
have called on him if it wasn't for his grace. He said he called
me by his grace. Have I been called? You know, there's no doubt there's
a general call. And there's a special call. The Lord said, many are
called, but few are chosen. When has one experienced the
special call? I can tell you exactly when one's
experienced the special call. When he sees he has to have Christ. You think about that. When it's
no longer a choice. But a matter of necessity. If
I'm not found in him, I'll be dead. I've got to have him. That's
the special call of God's grace. And that happens when it pleases
God. And look what he goes on to say. He says, when it pleased
God and separated me from my mother's womb, he called me by
grace to reveal what? To reveal his son. Now that's what God reveals when
he reveals the gospel. He reveals his son. You didn't
start feeling bad about yourself and then start seeking Christ.
No, you saw something about who God is and who Christ is. That's
when you started feeling bad about yourself and started seeing
your sinfulness aside of him. You can talk to people about
depravity all day long and they won't know what you're talking
about unless they've seen Christ. He said he revealed his son, and
that's the revelation of the gospel. It's revealed Christ,
that he's everything in salvation, that he's all to God, he's all
to me. It's a revelation of Christ.
He revealed his son, but look what he says next. To reveal his son to me? That's not what it says, is it?
It says he revealed his son in me. What in the world does that
mean? You know, I used to always get
troubled by that when I think about it. Colossians 127, Christ
in you, the hope of glory. I agree with that. There's no
doubt about it. I agree with that. But what in the world does
it mean? Christ in you, because every time I think about Christ
in me, I have a tendency to think, well, if he's really there, I'd
feel this way or I'd start doing this or I'd start believing this
or I wouldn't have these bad thoughts. Or what is this thing
about Christ being in me? Seems like if he's in me, I wouldn't
be the way I was. You ever thought that when you
thought about that? Christ in you, the hope of glory. So what's
that mean? Christ in you, the hope of glory. But there's no doubt it's a mystery.
Paul called it a mystery. He called it this mystery in
Colossians 127. This mystery, Christ in you,
the hope of glory. How can I tell if Christ is in
me? Well, Paul said, look, let's stay here in Galatians 2 and
look at verse 20. Paul says in verse 20, I am crucified
with Christ. He's talking about his identification
with Christ. When Christ was crucified, I
was too. My sins were paid for at that
time. I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. I was crucified
at that time, but I'm alive right now. I live. Yet not I, but Christ
liveth in me. And the life which I now live
in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me
and gave himself for me. I live, but not I, but Christ
liveth in me." Now, you know what he means by that? I believe,
but it's not me, it's Christ in me. I can't give myself any
of the credit. It's His work in me. I repent,
but it's not me. It's Christ in me. That's the
only reason I do it. I know I wouldn't do it apart
from His grace. Anything performed spiritually by me, it's not me. It's Christ in me. I know that because if it was
just me, I wouldn't do it. I know that from experience.
It's Christ in me. I give His grace all the credit. I, but Christ liveth in me, I
am what I am by the grace of God. That's what Christ in me
means. Now, I thought about that. My
soul, I thought, well, if he's in me, if he's in me, seems like
I do this and I think this, well, I should. I'm not taking anything
away from that. But Christ in me, if I start
looking for something in me to make me think he's there, I'll
always come up with the conclusion that he's not. That's not the
way to look for Christ in you. You know that Christ is in you
if you see him as your only hope. That's him doing that in you.
That's Christ in you, the hope of glory. The life that I now
live, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and
gave himself for me. He goes on to say in verse 21,
I don't frustrate the grace of God because if righteousness
came by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. I don't seek
righteousness in any way by my own personal obedience to God's
law, because to do so is to say that Christ's death was meaningless.
Now, those who have Christ in them recognize by God's revelation
that He is everything. It's not me, but Him in me. You know that if you're a child
of God. You don't have any problem with
free will versus free grace. You just don't do it. It's him
in me. And if I do not see this, I'm
afraid he's just not in me. And let me show you a scripture
to back that up. See here in Galatians 4. Look in verse 19. My little children. Of whom I prevail in birth. again until Christ be formed
in you. I desire to be present with you
and to change my voice for I stand in doubt of you. Why did he stand
in doubt of him? He says, tell me you that desire
to be under the law. Do you not hear the law? You
see, they were they were thinking there's I can do this. I can
do that. I can obey this. I can obey that. Paul said, I
doubt you. I prevail until Christ is formed in you because if he
is in you, you know, it must be him. You're just sure of that.
Christ in you, the hope of glory. How can Christ be in me? That's a mystery, isn't it? I
can't begin to explain it. Nobody can. That's something
to be believed. It's not understood, but you
know, you throw an empty bottle into the sea, an empty one. Now, if it has
anything in it, it won't work. But if you throw an empty bottle
into the sea, the sea will be in that bottle. And that bottle
will be in the sea. Hold it. That's justifications. Justification is you in Christ,
that bottle in the sea. Sanctification is Christ in you,
the sea in the bottle. How can Christ be in you? Well,
you've got to be empty to yourself, don't you? That's the only way
he'll be in there. Christ in you has medicine taken
into the body. Now, you can know medicine will
heal, but if you don't take it yourself, it won't do you any
good. Christ in you has medicine taken. You actually trust Him to save
you. You let go of everything else
right now. By His grace right now, you let
go of every other hope and trust Him alone. Christ in you by faith. Faith
is described as an eating Christ and a drinking his blood, except
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood. You
have no life in you. When you eat something, it was
outside of you, but now it's in you and it becomes part of
you. When you eat something, nobody can take it away. You
are what you eat. Christ in you as food eaten. Christ in you by conquest. The army conquers when it gets
in the city, doesn't it? And when Christ comes in you,
look what Paul says, and stay in our chats, we'll close with
this. Paul said, to reveal His Son
in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen. When Christ
comes in you, You'll turn into a preacher. Maybe not a public one. Not what
I'm doing here. But you'll still become a preacher.
Women, you'll be preachers. Every one of us. Witnesses of
the Lord Jesus Christ. To reveal His Son in me that
I might preach Him. That's our message. Him among
the heathens. Your great concern will no longer
be centered around you, but how you can serve him. He said, Follow
me, and I'll make you fishers of men. Don't you want to be
that? If you follow him, you will be
a fisher of men. That goes along with the promise.
You follow me, and I'll make you fishers of men. Now look
at this last thing he said to reveal a son in me that I might
preach him among the heathen. Immediately, I conferred not. with flesh and blood. Now, if you experience this,
you don't need to consult flesh and blood to know it's true,
do you? You know this is the truth of
God. And you won't need to have a
watchdog over you to tell you what to do. Religion has so many
rules and regulations on the outside because Christ is not
on the inside. If he's on the inside, you'll
follow him. And if you don't follow him,
he's not on the inside. I'm just sure of that. There's
no such thing as an uncommitted believer. No such thing. They're all committed to him.
He said, I conferred not with flesh and blood. Well, Paul,
what's the reason for your faith? Well, here's the reason for faith.
Divine revelation. The only way I can know him is
for him to make himself known to me. Well, I'm glad it's that
way. I didn't figure this thing out.
It was his revelation. What's the reason for faith?
The pleasure of God. What's the reason for faith?
The call of invincible, irresistible, almighty grace. That's the reason
for faith. Now, I don't know about you,
But I've experienced the same thing Paul did. And I know you have, too, if
you're a child of God. The Lord blessed you. Preach
Christ. Number 40. And this was the theme
of what he was saying. Great is his faith. Number 40. Stand with me and we'll sing
the first and last verses together. Praise Thy faithfulness, O God
my Father. There is no shadow of turning
with Thee. Thou changest not, Thy compassions
they fail not. As thou hast been, thou forever
wilt be. Sing the third verse now. Pardon
for sin and the peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer
and to guide. Strength for today and bright
hope for tomorrow. Blessings all mine with ten thousand. Now the chorus. Great is thy
faithfulness. Great is thy faithfulness. Morning by morning, new mercies
I see. All I have needed, I have provided. Great is my faithfulness, Lord,
unto Thee. Thank you.
