Global Warming the Big Hoax

Genesis 8:22

Global warming is not just a scientific consideration, but biblical principles should be applied. God has made promises concerning our world, and He has full sovereign control over all things having to do with His creation, including the environment.

Let me explain something before
I read the text and before I tell you my subject. That is, I have
long thought about speaking on this matter, just speak on it
and let it go. I think this might be the perfect
time because it has a relation to what we studied this morning,
God's creation of the world, and also I believe that there
is a Christian principle that is involved in this matter. I believe that the word of the
Lord is involved in this matter. Now let me tell you, I want to
speak this evening on the subject Global warming, the big hoax. Global warming, the big hoax. If you'll turn in your Bible
to Genesis chapter 8, I might speak on this subject because
there are some Christians who believe it. Some Christians are
greatly disturbed about it. Many in the world are fearful
because of this issue. And so let's look and see if
we can gain any light from the word of our God on the matter,
starting with Genesis chapter 8 and verse 20 through verse
22. And Noah built an ark unto the
Lord, and took of every clean beast and of every clean fowl
and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled
a sweet savour, and the Lord said in his heart, I will not
again curse the ground any more for man's sake, for the imagination
of man's heart is evil from his youth, neither will I again smite
any more every living thing as I have done." Now watch the 22nd
verse particularly. "'While the earth remaineth,
seedtime and harvest, cold and summer and winter, and day and
night, shall not cease." Now again, I'll say, someone might
ask the question, why in the world a sermon in church on a
scientific issue like global warming? What has this to do
with my Christian life or my Christian profession? This is
an issue of science, someone is bound to say, therefore it
should be left to the scientists who are able and qualified to
understand the issue and all that is involved. Leave it to
scientists, you say, would that be the same scientists who tell
us that evolution is a fact and that the world has evolved? So why a sermon on the subject
of global warming? Well, first I would say because
it seems to flow rather naturally out of our study of this morning
why God created the world. It has to do with the world that
God created for the habitation of men. It is a follow-up unto
that, so that this, I believe, if ever, is the proper time and
the proper place to consider whether the world which God has
created can then spiral out of control and be destroyed by global
warming or the actions of men. Secondly, I speak on the subject
because I believe that the doctrine of global warming is a gigantic
hoax. I believe it is a con game. I believe it is a power grab
by the elite. It is an unsustainable claim
to limit freedom and impose all manner of unnecessary regulation
and taxes upon the back of the citizen. It is a means of control. And in dealing with global warming,
you should do one thing, and that is you should follow the
money. Who is it that stands to make
billions from the doctrine of global warming and these carbon
offsets that we hear about? When I ask that question, I ask,
Does the name Al Gore or George Soros come into your mind? Those that are pushing the hardest
stand to gain the most financially out of the matter of global warming. If someone should ask me What
is the biggest hope that you have ever experienced in all
of your lifetime? What is the biggest hope that
has been perpetrated upon the public? As of right now, I would
say that this global warming, save the planet movement, is
the biggest hope of our lifetime. Thirdly, I speak upon this subject,
and this is the main theme concerning this issue, because there are
biblical principles that are involved in this matter. And I want to say it again. There
are biblical principles that are involved in this matter. It is something that has a bearing
upon the teaching of the Word of God. It is something that
we must weigh in relationship to God and to the Holy Scripture
and what they say about this matter, wherein we must ask,
how does this square with the teaching of God's Holy Word or
the Bible? For the Scripture, friends, is
our only sure guide and compass. So let's drop back to the sermon
a minute on why God created the world that we looked at this
morning, and realize that in the conflict between creation
and evolution, again, it is a biblical principle that is involved. In that evolution says one thing,
the Bible says something completely different or the opposite. So that no true Christian can
believe in the doctrine of evolution. The reason is the Bible teaches
us that God created the world and all things. He did not do
it by a protracted process of evolution, but he did it in six
days and rested upon the seventh. Now, I want to drive that home,
that there are biblical principles that are involved in these things. Now the same thing holds true
on other societal issues, such as abortion. No Bible believer
can swallow the reasoning to justify and to legalize abortion. Nobody swallows the idea. The
world is a dangerous place. The world is endangered by overpopulation. Have you ever heard the reasoning,
look, abortion needs to be available because we don't want to bring
an unwanted child into this world. So how do they solve that problem?
By murdering it in the womb in a legal manner. Throwing it in
the garbage. and classifying it as medical
waste. The same for homosexuality. It is a biblical issue. It is not a philosophical one,
and it is not simply a scientific or medical one, because the Bible
condemns it, calls it wrong, and that settles it for the child
of God. This explains, therefore, why
global alarmists and abortion supporters and the homosexual
lobby are willing to throw the Scriptures aside and be done
with them and cast them away. Now, here's how we will come
at our study this evening. Number one, we will examine the
text that we have read and see what we can glean from it. Consider
the implication of what were said in our text. Then number
two, we will consider some of the beliefs and some of the goals
of the global warming agenda and the effects that it has upon
us. Number three, we will consider
the Christian view upon this matter. Now, we read Genesis
8, 20 through 22. This is an interesting passage
of Scripture, for it concerns the present heavens and earth,
2 Peter 3, 7, which are kept, or they are reserved. And there
is a contrast over in 2 Peter 3, verse 6 and verse 7. In the 6th verse it said, the
world that then was overflowed with water are flooded. And in
verse 7, the present earth which is kept, or is reserved, and
that by God, reserved by God. Now the Genesis passage relates
to the time after the flood, when it had dried up, and when
Noah had exited the ark with all of those that were in it
with him, and in verse 20, He built an altar and made sacrifices
that were very pleasing in the nostrils of Almighty God. And the Lord did two things there
in response to that. Number one, the Scripture said
he smelled a sweet savor or an aroma of the sacrifice that Noah
had made. For that sacrifice was typical
of the great sacrifice of Christ. In fact, Paul uses those words
in Ephesians 5 and verse 2. Secondly, the Lord did something
else. The Lord decreed in his heart
that he would never again destroy all living things as he had done
in the flood. And let's look again at the 22nd
verse, which we want to consider, that says this, seed time and harvest, cold and
heat, summer and winter, and the day and the night shall not
cease." Now Calvin wrote upon these verses the words, quote,
"...the deluge," that is, the flood, "...had been an interruption
of the order of nature," unquote, "...and all in whom was the breath
of life died, Genesis 7, 21 through 23. But God's determination was,
as Robert Candliss wrote in his Genesis commentary, there was
to be no more violent shock unto the earth of this magnitude. There wants to be no more universal
destruction of life as had occurred there in the flood. You look
at the first part of verse 22 again. While the earth remains,
the margin has it, if you may notice, as yet all the days of
the earth, meaning, all of the appointed time, as long as God
has appointed the earth to stand, so long as it lasts, so long
as it endures. Its course is to be no more disturbed
in the way that it was by the flood. There was to be a settled
order. There was to be a regularity.
There was to be a constant revolving of the season. There wants to be the alternation
of day and of night, summer and winter, the cold and the heat,
the seed time and the harvest. the planting and the reaping. And as is said, all the days
of the earth, these shall not cease. These things, in verse
22, shall continue in their ordered revolution. And from then until
now, it has been so. It has been as God said. The order has remained some 6,000
years. The biblical view of the world
is this. God made the earth. He will sustain
it as long as he will. That's his word and his promise. So this is what our scripture
tells us in part this evening. But now let's consider the environmentalist
view of the world that God has made. You might hear the term
such as global warming, climate change, protecting the environment,
saving the planet. Terms like that in connection
with a movement. And out of this has come a special
day, and that special day is known as Earth Day. It is a day in which they honor
the earth, and they call emphasis to the earth, how fragile is
its ecosystem. But it is built upon lies and
atheism and junk science, I am convinced. This global warming
hysteria is another example of the old adage or the old saying
that if you tell a lie often enough and repeat it enough times,
pretty soon people will start to believe that it is true, especially
if they hear it from what they consider to be a prominent person
or person. People somehow tend to believe
a lie if it is printed up in someone's book, or if they see
it over and over again on TV. Global warming, or man-made global
warming as they spin it, has put the planet in great danger. and everyone that lives upon
it. So, I want to start with a little
bit of history, a little bit of background, and then look
at a few of their positions. Someone has called a man named
Maurice Strong, the father of the modern environmental movement,
that global warming, number one, was real, and number two, he
said, that it was caused by man and the activity of man. Now, if you remember back a few
years, we laughed and chuckled at these people when they first
started preaching the reality. of some sort of global danger
to be destroyed. They were perceived as eccentric
nuts who did not have their elevator go all the way to the top, but
was stuck yonder down in the basement. It's not funny anymore,
my brothers and sisters. as laws are being passed. Policy is being conducted based
upon this so-called global warming. Even your vehicle must be environmental
friendly. I think, just off the subject
a little bit, that the day will probably come, maybe in our lifetime,
when a car that fumes too much will be taken right on the spot,
confiscated and hauled off onto the junkyard. You should know
this about this movement and these people, and that is the
first Earth Day, as I remember, was 1974. I think that's the first year
that actually got together for Earth Day. And the people who
did, the people who called the meeting, were preaching another
ice age. When they met in 74, they predicted
an ice age would come and engulf the world. Now it is the threat
of overheating. They have gone from ice to overheating
in less than 35 years. Here's the most important thing.
that you should know about the environmental movement that best
puts it in proper perspective, that it actually has religious
overtones. This movement, don't be deceived,
it actually has religious overtones. It wouldn't be wrong to call
it the green worship. These people are nature worshipers
that are pushing this agenda. They worship nature. They worship
the creation. rather than the creator, as Paul
sets out in Romans chapter 1. But they're driven by a devout
and zealous fanaticism in their pursuit. They are people on a
mission. Their mission is to save the
planet, to save the planet from the people who are destroying
it, and to get people to quit committing sins against the earth
and against our globe. The religious mission of the
Green Movement is to save the earth from being destroyed by
greenhouse gas emissions and plastic and pollution and air
conditioners and lawnmowers. and barbecue pits. Oh, and yes,
from cutting down virgin timber and rainforest, as they like
to call them. The Holy Green Church has a missionary
who goes forth to preach the gospel of earth redemption or
earth salvation. Their message is, repent of the
sin that we are committing against Mother Earth before it is too
late. Cleanse the Earth of her pollution. Stop robbing her. Stop robbing
her of her precious resources. Stop punching holes in her to
extract fossil fuel. Be kind to the planet. because
she is our mother. And I have to prove to you that
that is their view. You hear them talk about Mother
Earth. Here are a couple of points,
thanks to a preacher friend in Kansas City. Something that he
picked up. The first one is, he came across
a pledge of allegiance to the Earth. It was somewhere in Oregon
or Washington at a state fair. But there was given an allegiance
unto the earth and it said this in part. Quote, I pledge allegiance
to the earth for she is sacred. I pledge allegiance to the flora
and the fauna, that is, the plant and the animal, and the children
which she supports, one planet in the visible," unquote, a pledge
to the earth. Another, a quote from Al Gore's
book, page 259, He quotes a man who says this, quote, Will you
teach your children that the earth is our mother? The earth does not belong to
man. Man belongs unto the earth. Now the green religion, like
every religious movement, has this in common. First of all,
number one, their hypocrisy. There's always hypocrisy in any
movement. Number two, they're fanatics. They're always those fanatical
ones. The hypocrite in chief of the
Green Movement is Aldor. Hypocrite, I say, because his
house uses ten times the electricity of the other citizens in Tennessee. And he flies around in a private
jet, yet chides us for leaving the lights on in the house. I think you should know that
Aldor stands to make literally millions off of a global warming
hoax because of his investment. Pay attention, if you will, to
the commercials on TV, the large companies advertising on TV,
saying that they are doing, what they're doing, quote, is good
for the environment, unquote, protecting the environment. they
say in their ad. And yet they put our purchases
in millions of plastic bags every day to be carried out and thrown
away. They say it's harmful to the
environment. There's a little hypocrisy there. Again, I would remind us that
the green religion has its zealots and its fanatics. Has those who
will resort to violence. for the sake of the cause. Some examples are they have driven
nails in trees to ruin the chainsaws of the lumberjacks as they were
harvesting lumber. Some have chained themselves
to trees that they might not be cut down. Others have climbed
up in the tree and said they won't come down, but I say you
can go ahead and cut the tree down anyway. A few years ago,
Someone right out here at Humboldt went into a new car lot and smacked
all the windows out of the gas-guzzling vehicles on that lot. They stopped
cutting timber in the northwest because of a spotted owl that
lived there in those woods. Earlier I mentioned junk science.
that they are not following the evidence, but they are attempting
to manufacture evidence. Perhaps you heard recently of
what was called climate games. That was some e-mails and some
memos that were made public accidentally. They didn't intend for them to
get out. And in those e-mails and memos,
there was evidence as they talked to one another that they were
being dishonest in their claims of global warming. I ran across
this quote from a scientist by the name of Gavin Schmidt. I believe he's a German. Quote,
if you ask me as a person, if you ask me as a person if the
Russian heat wave is due to climate change, the answer is yes. If
you ask me as a scientist, the answer is no, at least not yet."
Now they want it both ways. We're told that floods and droughts,
high temperatures, are caused by global warming and by climate
change. Well, strange, this past winter,
just this winter past, there were record snows in the northeast,
there were record low temperatures that were recorded It was such
a good thing, Congress could not get to work for two days. And that was a blessing out of
that. But you know, the environmentalists
didn't give up. They said that snow, that record
snow, was the result of global warming. So you see how hypocrite
they be. You know, of course, that our
government has set up an agency called the EPA, the Environmental
Protection Agency, and has given it much power and much finances
to make it to work. And it rides rough jobs over
many people. I would say to you, don't let
water stand on your property. Don't let a puddle of water stand,
or they might declare it a wetland and give it to the birds and
take it away from you. Don't get oil antifreeze or chemical
on the ground, or you'll be known as an earth murderer. You must remember, environmentalists
usually love animals more than they love children. Many of those
animals are on the endangered species live and are protected. You can't hurt them or harm them. In California, water was shut
off to the almond growers because of a minnow-sized fish that lived
in that water and was getting caught up in the pump. halted
because of the spotted owl was timber cutting in the northwest. During a forest fire in the west,
firefighter planes and helicopters were not allowed to get water
out of a nearby lake and river to put the fire out because of
a fish that lived in that water. People have been forbidden to
build a house on their own land because a frog or a bug or a
rat lived on that piece of property. Outside of Austin, Texas, a few
years ago, a shopping center was not allowed to be built because
a bug called the cave beetle lived down in the cracks of that
ground. The religion of environmentalism,
the green shirt, calls for great sacrifice in the saving of the
planet. If you must ride, then carpool
or use public transportation. It would be even better if you
walked. or rode a bicycle. And just this
week, no less authority than the great Prince Charles suggested
that people take less baths to save water. I'm not making this
up. Makes me wonder who will give
up their place on the planet to help save it. Which one of
these people will be willing to volunteer to make the ultimate
sacrifice to get out of here so that the earth can be saved? Even some apostate preachers
and churches are now supporting the Green Church. A website had
an article describing a church with this on its sign out front
of the church, quote, saving the world one light bulb at a
time. And I could go on for another
hour with examples. one after the other. But the
question is this. What will the scripture tell
us about the earth and its relationship to men or to God? Now, the Christian
doctrine is this. God created the earth. He preserves
it by his power and his providence. Colossians 1.17, Hebrews 1 and
verse 3. Would you listen to Nehemiah
9 and the 6th verse? You, even you, are Lord alone. You have made heaven, the heaven
of heaven, with all of their hosts the earth and all therein,
the sea and all that in them is, and thou preserveth them
all, and the host of heaven worships you." Listen again to Psalms
102. And verse 25, "...of old you
have laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the
work of thy hands." God formed the earth to be inhabited by
man, and he gave man a preeminence and a dominance over the animals
and over the earth, and yet God told men they could eat animals. Genesis 9 and verse 3. Here is a point not to be missed
in this discussion. I think environmentalists will
never hit upon it and don't believe it if they hear it. And that
is this point that the earth has been cursed by God for the
sin of Adam. That the earth lies under a curse
on account of the sin of Adam. Genesis 3. 17 through 19. Cursed is the ground for thy
sake. In sorrow shall ye eat of it
all the days of your life. Thorns and thistles shall it
bring forth to you. Ye shall eat the herb of the
field. In sweat shall ye eat of it."
That's part of God's sentence upon the man Adam. See what Paul
writes. in Romans chapter 8, 19 through
22. He writes about that, I believe.
Paul uses words there like vanity, bondage, saying in the 22nd verse,
the whole creation groans and travails together in pain until
now. Until now. Until the present
time when Paul was writing, God would not let Fallen sinners,
sinful men, live upon a pristine earth as Adam did before he fell. Instead of submitting to Adam
as before the fall, the earth then resisted him and gives him
briars and stickers among the food that he eats. Grudgingly
now, the earth yields up fruits for his sustenance or his living. How differently is the earth,
once blessed, then cursed? And notice, the earth, or the
ground, though innocent of any wrong, of having any part or
any participation in the sin of Eifert's parents, is nonetheless
cursed as a part of Adam's judgment. What could be clearer? Cursed
is the ground for thy sake, that is, on account of you, because
of you, for your sin, because you listened or you gave heed
to the words of your wife. Therefore, the earth would no
more be a paradise or only things that are pleasant in his sight
and good for food would be found, but now thorns and thistles and
briars," for as Calvin summed it up, And I think this is a
good point. God varies the condition of the
world with respect to men according as he would express his anger
or show them favor. Remember, God is not punishing
the earth, but he is making the earth to provide a part of the
punishment of man's sin. And because the earth worshiping
Environmentalists do not know or believe this. They futilely
seek to save the earth by recycling, saving water, driving less, bathing
less, not knowing the God that created it subjected it to bondage
because of the sin of mankind. And there is a like analogy in
regard to mankind, because the world will not admit that the
human family are both sinful and sinners. All have sinned
and come short of the glory of God. Because they won't accept
or believe that, they apply false cures to save man. or to improving,
such as saying, oh, we just need to educate him. We need to expose
him to some real culture. We need to send him to a psychiatrist
to have his head examined. We need to get him counseling.
We need to get him some professional help, lift his self-esteem, lift
him up out of his poverty. They treat him like a dysfunctional
person instead of treating him as a sinner in the sight of God. Trying to save on those grounds
is a failure, and trying to save the earth upon false grounds
will also be a failure. Now as Christians we don't believe
that man can thwart God's plan or purpose or overthrow his will
for whatever he has willed and that extends even unto the earth
that we live upon. I will close again by reminding
you, you must get this, these people worship nature. They worship nature and worship
the world rather than the God who made the world.
