I've entitled the message for tonight, The Doxology of Private Prayer. Now, if you open your hymn books on the inside of the cover, we have what's called the doxology, and I love it. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise him, all ye people here below. Praise him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. This could be sung at the end of every public worship service, and in some places it is. And we can see where that would be a good thing, but it's not a commandment in the scripture. But here we have the doxology of private prayer. Thine is the kingdom. Thine is the power. Thine is the glory. forever. Amen.

When you pray, pray in your closet. There is a place for public prayer. I'm thankful for that. It's difficult. When you're praying publicly, it's hard to shut out people other people listening, and it's a whole lot more beneficial in my mind to pray in your closet. Don't pray to be seen of men. And when you pray, don't try to use a lot of speech to manipulate God, to impress God. That's the way the heathen pray. They think they shall be heard for their much speech. Well, if I speak enough, he'll answer me. No. After this manner, therefore, pray ye.

Our father. He's not everybody's father. What a blessed privilege for us to say, our father. And if he's my father, that means I'm his child. An actual child of God where he owns me as his child. I'm his child by adoption. He adopted me and I'm his child by birth. birthed by God, a true child of God. Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Oh, we worship him for who he is. Holy is thy name. Other is thy name. There's no one to compare to you. Other is thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Oh, we're members of a heavenly kingdom, not the kingdom. You know, the Lord said, my kingdom is not of this world. I'm not interested in the kingdom of this world, but oh, we're the member, a subject of his heavenly kingdom. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done. And we mean that. It's not just words. I really want His will to be done. I want His will across my will because I don't want my will to be done. I want His will to be done. On earth right here just like it is in heaven.

Oh how I need my daily bread. That means I'm dependent upon Him for everything. I'm dependent upon Him for my next meal. I'm dependent on Him on all things material. I'm dependent upon Him for all things spiritual. I need my daily bread, the bread of heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ, the man that came down from heaven. I need him to continually feed me and enable me to feed off him.

Forgive us our debts. Sin is a debt against God. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us. I mean, that's in our, Prayers. We're aware of our sinfulness. Forgive us of our sins. And we believe we're forgiven sinners. He's forgiven us for Christ's sake. Isn't that a glorious thing to think I'm forgiven? And we're forgiving sinners. If we've been forgiven, we will be forgiven.

And lead us not into temptation. I don't want to be tempted because I know how weak I am and I know how easily I'll fall before temptation. You think if I was a believer for so many years, I'd be stronger after all this time? Well, I'm not. And I have to pray continually.

Lead me not into temptation. I can't handle it. Deliver me from evil. Deliver us from evil. That's the way we start to pray. You notice the personal pronoun, I or me. Not you, deliver us from evil. Deliver us from the evil one. I'm no match for him. Deliver us from this present evil world. I'm no match for the present evil world. Deliver us from the evil me. I'm the one I need delivered from because I'm my own worst enemy and I know that. I need to be delivered from myself. Then he gives this great doxology for thine is the kingdom. Thine is the power and thine is the glory forever, eternally, amen.

We give a heartfelt amen to this. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking about Lord willing, preach a message next week just on this one word, amen. What a word, amen. It's the most recognized word in the human language. And it's all, that's the way it's said in Hebrew and every other language translates it that way too. Amen. And think of how well this doxology goes with every one of these requests.

Our father, which art in heaven, thine is the kingdom, thine is the power, thine is the glory forever. Hallowed be thy name for thine is the kingdom, thine is the power, thine is the glory forever. Amen. Give us this day our daily bread for thine is the kingdom. That's an argument for it.

Thine is the power. Thine is the glory. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors for thine is the kingdom. Thine is the power. Thine is the glory forever. Amen. Lead us not into temptation for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Deliver us from evil. Thine is the kingdom. Thine is the power. Thine is the glory forever. Amen. That's an argument used in prayer for all of these petitions. We're asking these things because Thine is the kingdom. Thine is the power. Thine is the glory forever. Amen. The doxology of private prayer, because I think true prayer. Now, I'm thankful for public prayer. I don't want to say anything against public prayer. You know, the disciples watch the Lord pray, listen to him pray.

I think it's very interesting that he never called on them to pray. They listened to him pray, but he didn't call on them to pray. He didn't ask them to give thanks before that he's the one who prayed. And the only time he did tell them to pray, they fell asleep. Remember there in the Garden of Gethsemane, he said, couldn't you watch with me for one hour? They fell asleep while he told them to pray. But this is the believer's private prayer, and we might not even use these words the whole time we pray. It might be totally different words, but it must be the same things that we're asking in this prayer.

Thine is the kingdom, the kingdom of God, the kingdom of heaven, Kingdom of Christ, the kingdom of which we pray, thy kingdom come. We really want his kingdom to come, even so, come Lord Jesus, we are longing for his return. The kingdom that he said is not of this world. I love that he said that, don't you? My kingdom, not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight. You guys wouldn't beat me, I'd beat you. I'm the king, but my kingdom. He's not of this world. It's not of the kingdoms, plural, of the world that Satan attempted to tempt Christ with.

He says, all these are mine. It's given to me. This authority is given to me, and whomsoever I will, I give it. You know, you think about this. He's the god of this world. He's the prince of this world. He's God's devil on God's chain, doing God's will, working God's purposes. I don't know that he knows that, though. As a matter of fact, I doubt that he does. Satan tried to tempt him with the kingdoms of this world. All this will I give thee. The king of kings exercises sovereign authority over those kingdoms, though they don't know it. He's the king over those kingdoms because he is the king of kings. Now this is the kingdom that the thief and every other believer looks for.

Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Isn't that prayer real with you right now? Lord, remember me. Remember me when you come into your kingdom. This is the kingdom of which the Lord said, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The kingdom that cometh not with observation. I love the way he said the kingdom of God cometh not with observation. To where you can point to something visible and say, well, there's the kingdom of God. No, you can't even see the kingdom of God in that sense. But this kingdom is eternal. It has no boundaries. It's the kingdom prepared from the foundation of the world.

It's the future kingdom of which the Lord said after drinking the wine he instituted at the Lord's table, I will not drink henceforth this fruit of the vine until the day I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. Think of the touching nature of that. I'm going to drink it with you in my father's kingdom.

Now, several translations say, thine is the reign. I like that. Thine is the reign. Reign is actually the verb form of the noun kingdom. And this is most certainly what his kingdom is, the sphere of his reign, which is universal. He doesn't only reign in the universe, he reigns outside the universe too. He doesn't dwell in the universe, although he's here, he dwells outside the universe. He reigneth over all. And I love to think of the reign of his grace.

Moreover, the law entered that sin might abound. If you see God's law, if you really see it, Here's what you're gonna conclude from that. Sin abounds in you. And if you don't see that, you've never seen his holy law. Moreover, the law entered that sin might abound, but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. that as sin hath reigned unto death.

How much reign does sin have over you or how much can you, what can you do to prevent dying? Absolutely nothing. That's how much power and reign sin has over you in that sense. You can't prevent dying. That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so, in the precise same manner might grace reign. Just as you can't prevent death, you can't prevent grace. There's nothing you can do to prevent His grace.

That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness. Oh, it's a righteous grace. Unto eternal life, it honors and magnifies God's righteousness. Makes a way for him to be just and justify the ungodly. Even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thine is the kingdom. Oh, we amen to that. Thine is the kingdom. And here's why the kingdom is his. Thine is the power. Psalm 62, 11. God has spoken once, twice have I heard this, that power belongeth unto the Lord. Now understand this, there are no powerful people. Only he has power. And people only do what he causes them to do. Only the Lord has power. He's a powerful man. No, he's not. She's a powerful woman. No, she's not. There are no powerful people.

Power belongeth unto the Lord. He has a monopoly on it. Only he has power. His powers is omnipotence. I love to read in Revelation 19 of the mighty thunderings and the roar of many waters. Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Is anything too hard for the Lord? He has unlimited power to do all that is consistent with his attributes. Unlimited power. His power is seen.

Well, in creation. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. In the beginning, there's time. That's when time began, when he created the heavens and the earth. He created the heavens. There's space. He created the earth. There's matter. None of that was in existence. until He spake it into existence and the rolling vastness of the universe was created, simply as an act of His will. What mighty power and how His power is demonstrated in Providence and everything that happened, He's in control of.

There's not a sparrow that falls to the ground without him. There's not the flight of an insect without him. There's not the raising up of an empire without him. Falling down of an empire without Him, He controls everything, and it's not difficult to Him. It's not hard. It's not like, oh, I've got to cover all my bases. No, it's not hard. He's God. He controls everything in providence.

The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord. And His power is seen in salvation, the power to put away sin. I've committed sins this day that have already been put away, and they're gone. And that comforts my heart. He put them away. He has the power to justify the ungodless. to make it to where I stand before God with a history of one who's never sinned and has always been perfectly obedient. That's what justification is.

He's got the power to take this ungodly sinner and make me stand before him justified without guilt. He has the power to give a dead sinner life. The same power that was exerted in his own resurrection is given in raising a dead sinner to life from the dead. And you hath he quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins. And he's got the power to preserve that sinner all the way to the end. If I was not kept when I got right to heaven's door, if he didn't keep me and preserve me, I'd go straight to hell from there. but He keeps us all the way to the end.

He's got the power to glorify me and to make me to be perfectly conformed to the image of Christ. Now, what mighty power! Believing His power is the stuff of faith. Now, let me give you some examples of this in the Scripture. First of all, He said to those two blind men, Do you believe that I am able to do this? Yay, Lord. Do you believe he is able to come to you where you are? Not where you should be, but where you are and save Do you believe He is able?

Now, let me show you from the scriptures how this is the stuff of faith, believing His power. When we say, thine is the power. Paul said in 2 Timothy 1, 12, I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded. I have been persuaded. When God persuades you, you're persuaded. I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed to Him. Against that day, I'm persuaded in His ability to keep what I've committed to Him. Now, what have you committed to Him?

You know, it's, I don't know if unfortunate is the right word, but people use that Scripture talk about how you need to be committed. You know, Paul was committed. Well, yeah, Paul was committed. There's no question about that, but that's not what that's talking about. What's commitment mean?

I have committed every aspect, the whole thing to him. If he doesn't do it all, I won't be saved. Now, that's what he's saying. If he doesn't do it all, I will not be saved. I have committed all my salvation to him. and I'm persuaded he is able to keep that which I've committed to him against that day.

What was said of Abraham? He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, being fully persuaded that what he had promised he was able to keep. also to perform. This is faith. Believing his ability. I love it when the disciples saw that rich young ruler leave and they looked at that man and thought, if he can't be saved, who then can be saved?

With men, it is impossible. That's pretty conclusive, isn't it? With men, it is impossible. Not with God. For with God, all things are possible. Lord, if you will, you can. You have the ability. to make me clean. Do you believe what the leper did? Do you believe that? If he wills, he has the power to make you clean.

Now unto him, Jude 24, now unto him that's able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless. before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." He's able to keep you from falling and He's able to present you, me, faultless. Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. I love it when He said to that paralytic, those four men, broke up the roof and let the bed down with that man crippled.

And he says, son, be of good cheer. Thy sins be forgiven thee. And the Pharisees, who is this blasphemous? Who can, who has the ability to forgive sins but God only? Well, they were right. Son, be of good cheer. I declare, thy sins be forgiven thee. Nobody else will make that declaration.

Ephesians 3.20, now unto him that's able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us. God is able to make all grace abound toward you.

Hebrews 7.25, wherefore he is able, he is able to save them to the uttermost. to the furthest extent. You can't even imagine it. I can't imagine it. He's able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

I love John Newton's poem, Come my soul, thy suit prepare. Jesus loves to answer prayer. He himself has bid thee pray. Therefore will not tell thee nay. Thou art coming to a king. large petitions with thee bring, for his grace and power are such, none can ever ask too much." Oh, this doxology, thine is the power.

I've got to bring out this one scripture. God who commanded the light to shine out of the darkness has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, weak jars of clay. Oh, we have a treasure, but it's in an earthen vessel that the excellency of the power might be of God and not of us. That's why you have this glorious treasure. You have this treasure. You got it in an earthen vessel and you're painfully aware of that.

And we know this is the reason that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us. It's his kingdom because it's his power. Thine is the power. Don't you love, power belongs to the Lord. I just, I love that. And then lastly, he says, thine is the glory. Thine is the kingdom, thine is the power, and thine is the glory.

I love the way Stephen opened his message In Acts chapter 7, before he was stoned, the God of glory appeared to our father Abraham. Don't you love his name, the God of glory? It's his kingdom because of his omnipotence, and because of his omnipotence, the glory is all his. The psalmist said, not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name. give glory for thy mercy and for thy truth's sake. His glory is his majesty, his splendor. There's none like him and he saves sinners for his own glory.

I am a trophy of his grace. I'm going to be the biggest example of just how much salvation is by grace. And I guarantee everybody here is thinking, no, I'll be. I'll be. Saved to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved. Now, His glory. Does anyone share with Him in the glory of creation?

No. No. Why, that's ridiculous. Nobody was even around. Does anyone share with Him in the glory of salvation? That's even more ridiculous. As ridiculous as the first is, this is even more ridiculous. No, it all goes to Him. I love God's way of saving in a way that He gets all the glory. Oh, how the Father is glorified with an act of a sovereign will. He chose a people to be saved. To God be the glory. Oh how He's glorified when the Lord Jesus Christ, I love Hebrews 1 3, when He had by Himself purged our sins.

He had no help. He had no assistance. We didn't contribute. He gets all the glory. And think of the glory of God the Holy Spirit and regeneration when He gives us Life from the dead, spiritual life. And He preserves it, He keeps it. We don't become more holy by our works because that would be giving us glory. He does it all. He gets all the glory in every aspect of our salvation. To God be the glory, great things He hath done. When our Lord said, it is finished, It wasn't half finished. My salvation was completely finished. And he gets all the glory.

For by grace you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, even that faith you have is not of yourselves. It's the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus and two good works. To him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifies the ungodly. Now, I love that very simple definition of a believer.

You don't work. You know you can't work. You know if salvation's been on your works, you'll go to hell. You know that. To him that worketh not. You're convinced of that. You can't be saved by your works. To him that worketh not. But believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly. You believe that what Christ did made you justified before God, even though you're ungodly in yourself. You believe that. To him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

We know that if he didn't do it all, we would never be saved. And you know, the only thing that would prevent a man from delighting in his glory is self-righteousness. That's the only thing. We love him getting all the glory and salvation because that means he did it all. If he doesn't get all the glory and salvation, there's something depending on me to do. And that's where things get, that's not good. That's not good at all. But oh, how we love him getting all the glory and salvation because that secures my salvation.

I love that scripture in Acts chapter 12 where Herod gave an oration before the people. King Herod in Acts chapter 12. Previously he had James' head cut off. You can read about it in Acts chapter 12. But he gave the oration before the people and the people said, it's a God, not a man. What happened? Immediately the angel of the Lord smote him because he gave not God the glory. and he was eaten of worms and gave up the ghost. God's glory is important to him. And it is to me too. Thine is the kingdom. Thine is the power. Thine is the glory. Eternally. Forever. It's always been that way. It's that way right now. And it always will be that way eternally. Amen. Amen.
