In this message salvation is presented as a sovereign, divine work entirely initiated, secured, and sustained by God alone—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—emphasizing its origin in God's eternal purpose, its foundation in Christ's atoning sacrifice, and its application by the Holy Spirit. Rooted in Scripture, salvation is described as eternal, unmerited, and universally shared among God's elect, yet deeply personal and transformative for each believer. The sermon underscores that salvation is not earned, nor is it subject to human merit or hierarchy, but is a gracious gift bestowed by God's sovereign will, resulting in everlasting redemption and unending worship. It is a great salvation, surpassing human sin and need, and culminating in the eternal praise of heaven where all nations declare, 'Salvation to our God, which sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb.'

The doctrine of Holy Scripture, that salvation is a work of God alone, is all through the scriptures. The name of the message is Descriptions of Salvation. We're gonna contemplate a few descriptions of salvation. Now the work of salvation is a work of God alone, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

It's a gracious work. It's a gracious work done for sinners by the sinless one. And God himself has wrought out our salvation, and God the Holy Spirit wroughts our salvation in us when we're born again and given faith to believe on the Holy Spirit or believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. This gracious work is wrought in and for chosen sinners without our aid, without any merit, without any assistance from us. This great salvation is through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through his blood and righteousness, he shed his blood to redeem us from all our sins. And it's the precious work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the God-man, God in the flesh.

And it's worked in us by the gracious goodness of God, the Holy Spirit, who comes to those for whom Christ died. And because you are our sons, Galatians says, God sends the spirit of his Son into your hearts, whereby you now cry, Abba, Father. It's all the work of God.

It was planned by God, it was purposed by God, and it was executed by God. Salvation for sinners, that's how it is. So let's consider some biblical descriptions, Bible descriptions of salvation in and through the Lord Jesus Christ alone, and by his perfect sin-atoning work alone, through his precious blood alone. May we read them carefully, may we meditate upon them this week, may we consider them honestly and carefully, And may we always compare scripture with scripture, which will bring us to the truth that salvation is of the Lord. It's all Him. It's all Him, or it's not God's salvation. And I say it's not God's salvation because the first point is that salvation is of God. It's His salvation. It's His.

Well, how do we know that? Well, in Genesis 49, 18, the scripture declares this. I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord. Thy salvation. God's salvation is in a person. It's his. It's God's salvation because the word of God, the second person of the trinity, became a man. It's God's salvation. He gives it to him, whoever he's pleased to give it to. And he doesn't need our assistance, and he doesn't ask for our help. It's God's salvation. Salvation belongs to God. It is his prerogative and his work alone. He is the author of salvation, true salvation, and he is the finisher of true salvation, and everything in between.

It's all God's. Jonah summed it up real easy for us, and it's wonderful. It's absolutely, salvation's of the Lord. And we say, hallelujah, don't we? Oh, we praise his mighty name. Oh, and you know, he's the author and the finisher of our salvation, and he gives it to whom he pleases to give it to. And he also withholds it according to his sovereign will. Praise God is the song Jill sang on Sunday. Praise God he included me. Oh my. Praise God it was his sovereign will to give me salvation in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. My.

The second point is God's salvation is eternal everlasting salvation. Listen to the scripture in Hebrews 5 9. In being made perfect, he became, that's Christ, the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. See, salvation is an eternal work of God, beloved. It was planned by God. It was secured by God. It was predestined by God. It was purposed by God. And in the mind of our great God, In the mind of our great God, it was performed, finished, and perfected in the covenant of grace in eternity, before the world began. How do we know this? Well, Romans 8, 28 and 29, or 29 and 30, I'm sorry.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called. And whom he called, them he also justified. And whom he justified, them he also glorified. And then, over in Revelation, it says this.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. See, Christ is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Oh my, and then it says this in Isaiah chapter 45, 17, but Israel shall be saved in the Lord. But Israel, the Israel of God, not the little nation over there, the Israel of God, God's people, God's elect. But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation. That's how we know it's speaking of God's elect, the Israel of God. Ye shall not be ashamed and confounded, world without end, Isaiah 45, 17.

God's salvation is eternal. In two ways, it's from everlasting to everlasting. It was planned and purposed in everlasting, and it's to everlasting. It's eternal because it's God's salvation, and he gives it to whom he wills. For by grace you say it through faith and not of yourselves. It's a gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. It's beautiful.

Number three, God's salvation is common salvation. And I don't mean it's commonplace. That's not what Jude means. When Jude writes that, over in Jude, in verse three, he says this, Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and to exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Now, this common salvation, this common salvation, He's simply telling us that all God's elect receive, experience, and possess the same salvation. You know what? There's no levels in heaven. No. People think, oh, I'm going to have more crowns than this other guy. There's no level. There's no levels in heaven. None. No. It's amazing.

God's people receive, experience, and possess the same salvation. Because think of this, all the blessings of God's grace are in Christ. Are in Christ. Listen to this. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

Brother Chris, I was reading this to Zane and Chris last night, and Brother Chris said, there's no levels in heaven. I said, I'm going to use that, brother. There are no levels in heaven. No, look at that. My. The fourth thing is God's salvation is for his people, and it's our salvation. It's personal. I can't save you, you can't save me, but if God saves us, it's our salvation, isn't it? Listen to this. Wherefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Philippians 2.12. Well, look at that. Isn't that wonderful? If you are saved, the salvation you have is your salvation. Now, you didn't do anything to earn it. You didn't do anything to merit it. God didn't need any assistance from us, did he? No, but it's ours. It's ours, because Christ saved us. It's personal. It's personal.

Think of this, God the Father planned it for you. And for me as a believer. Because we were all chosen in Christ, right? Before the foundation of the world. Mine. And then Christ purchased it for us. For me personally, for you personally. He purchased our souls. And then think of this, the Holy Spirit bought it to you and applied it. You must be born again.

Oh, by grace you're saved through faith and not of yourselves. It's a gift of God, not of works, as any man should boast. God graciously applies it to us. But it's my salvation, isn't it? It's your salvation. It's in Christ alone, isn't it? Not in anything we do. Oh, no, no. And you know what?

It's ours forever. It's ours forever. If you trust the Lord Jesus Christ, all that is included in the word salvation is your personal property and your possession forever. And it belongs to you from God as a gift. Oh, it's amazing. Number five, God's salvation is so great salvation. Listen to this. How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him?

Hebrews 2.3. Now, you and I are great sinners, aren't we? To our shame. Oh yeah.

But this salvation is a great salvation. It's great because it comes from our great God. Oh my, planned and purposed by our great God. And here's the incredible part. It comes through the merits of the great substitute, the Lord Jesus Christ, who died in the room and place of his people to save us from our sins through the shedding of his blood. It's wonderful.

And it comes to us, the salvation comes to us by the power of the Great Spirit, God the Holy Spirit, who regenerates us. We're born again, given faith to believe. I'm the Lord Jesus Christ, and I'll tell you what. This salvation's so great because it brings such a, since we're great sinners, it brings such a great bounty of forgiveness and pardon to us, as all our sins are forgiven in and through the perfect sin atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ. We say hallelujah, what a savior, my. Lastly, God's salvation belongs to God, and we're proclaiming that truth. Salvation is to our God. Salvation belongs to our God, and we're going to praise Him for that, acknowledging that it's His salvation that's being given to us. Oh, listen to this. Listen to this. Revelation 7, 9 to 12. Oh, my.

After this, I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and tongues, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb clothed with white robes. Oh, the white robes are the righteousness of Christ, beloved, and palms in her hands.

And they cried with a loud voice, salvation to our God, oh my, which sitteth on the throne and under the lamb, my beloved. That salvation which belongs to God and comes from God shall return to God in everlasting praise from his people. We're saying, oh, salvation's all of God. It's all of the Lord. He saved my soul. Oh, hallelujah. What a Savior!

And we who are His blood-bought people, we'll be singing praises to our great Redeemer forever, as we worship Him and adore Him who washed us from all our sins by His precious blood. We'll say praises be to the Lamb. Oh my, we're going to sing this. Salvation to our God, which sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb. Amen and amen.
