The Bible teaches that Christ is our righteousness through His sinless nature and obedience.
According to Scripture, believers are seen as righteous because they are united with Christ, who is our righteousness. In His perfect nature, Christ did no sin, making Him the perfect representative for His people. Through faith in Him, we receive a new nature, allowing us to approach God without condemnation. The Father, having accepted Christ as our representative, sees believers not in their fallen state but in the perfection of Christ's righteousness (Romans 4:24-25).
Romans 4:24-25, Psalm 32:1
Christ is vital for Christians because He embodies all we need for salvation and sustenance.
For Christians, Christ is of utmost importance as He is the embodiment of everything they require for salvation, righteousness, and daily strength. In Him, believers find their identity and assurance of acceptance with God. As the sinless one, He provided the ultimate sacrifice for sin, securing forgiveness and reconciliation with God. Christians are called to rest in Christ as all-sufficient, trusting that He not only meets their spiritual needs but also supports them in their struggles and sorrows (John 14:6, Philippians 4:19).
John 14:6, Philippians 4:19
Christ's sacrifice was sufficient because it fully satisfied God's justice for the sins of His people.
The sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice is affirmed through the completed work on the cross, where He bore the sins of His people in full. The Scriptures assure us that Christ's sacrifice not only bore our sins but also eradicated them wholly. God has accepted this sacrifice, evidenced by Christ’s resurrection, which confirms that justice has been satisfied (Isaiah 53:5-6, Hebrews 10:12). Our sin is washed away, and God's wrath towards us is appeased; thus, we can know with assurance that we are forgiven in Him.
Isaiah 53:5-6, Hebrews 10:12
We worship Christ because He is our Savior, and only through Him do we find grace and redemption.
Christ is the focal point of Christian worship because He is the source of our grace and redemption. His love and sacrifice demonstrate a depth of mercy that is beyond human comprehension. As believers, when we reflect on His attributes and His sacrificial role, we are led to a place of awe and reverence. Worship is a response to the realization of what He has done for us, as it enables us to acknowledge Him as our Lord and Savior, deserving of all honor and glory (1 Peter 2:9, Psalm 95:6).
