How can sin and free will coexist according to Reformed theology?

Answered in 1 source

In Reformed theology, humans are seen as responsible for their choices while still being bound by sin, which limits true freedom.

Reformed theology posits that while humans make choices freely, these choices are influenced by their sinful nature. The concept of free will in this context does not imply that individuals can choose good or evil without being under the influence of sin. Instead, it acknowledges that all human beings are sinners by nature and, in their natural state, cannot perform good without God's grace. Therefore, while we act according to our desires, those desires are inherently flawed and self-serving because of our sinful nature. True freedom, according to this view, comes from being liberated by God's grace, allowing individuals to choose righteousness.
