How do we know Jesus' work is sufficient for salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

Jesus' work is sufficient as it fulfilled the demands of God's law and was accepted by the Father.

The sufficiency of Jesus' work for our salvation rests upon the fulfillment of God's justice and righteousness. Christ's perfect obedience and sacrifice were accepted for all eternity, which guarantees that all for whom He performed this work are justified before God. Hebrews 9:26 affirms that He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Thus, we can be assured that His death and resurrection were wholly sufficient to atone for the sins of His people.

Furthermore, it is through the acknowledgment of the doctrine of total depravity—the understanding that humanity cannot contribute to their own salvation—that we see the necessity for such a perfect Savior. No man can establish righteousness on his own, but through Christ, who fulfills the requirements of the law, salvation becomes assured for those chosen by God. This assurance is foundational to the Gospel of grace.
