How do we know that God is not the author of sin?

Answered in 4 sources

The Bible teaches that while God permits human sin, He is not its author, as humans act according to their own will.

It is essential to understand that God is not the author of sin. As noted in Acts 1:16-20, Judas' betrayal was part of God’s divine plan, fulfilled through the actions of Judas himself. The principle upheld is that God allows individuals to act according to their own sinful desires while still executing His sovereign will. This does not imply that God instigates sin but rather that in His sovereignty, He permits human actions to manifest, whereby His ultimate purposes are accomplished. Each person's rebellion is a direct result of their fallen nature, and they choose to sin based on their own desires, holding them responsible while God remains holy and just.
