How do we know that God uses evil for good?

Answered in 2 sources

We see throughout Scripture that God sovereignly ordains even evil actions to achieve His greater good and purpose for His people.

The doctrine of God's sovereignty includes the belief that He can utilize even the actions of wicked individuals to bring about good, as illustrated in multiple biblical narratives. A prime example is seen in the life of Joseph, where his brothers' evil actions against him ultimately led to God's plan of salvation for many during a famine (Genesis 50:20). This reflects the greater truth that while evil exists due to human sin, God remains sovereign over all events, working all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

In the context of suffering inflicted by wicked men, like the Assyrians in Isaiah 10, God employs their actions to discipline and refine His people. He views their actions as a rod for His anger, effectively using them for His divine correction. This indicates that evil, though contrary to His nature, does not thwart His ultimate plans. Instead, it becomes a means through which God brings about restoration and sanctification in the lives of His children.
