How do we understand faith alone within Reformed theology?

Answered in 1 source

Faith alone is the means through which we receive God's gift of salvation, described as believing in Christ’s righteousness.

In Reformed thought, faith alone signifies that our assurance of salvation does not depend on our actions or feelings, but solely on belief in Jesus Christ. Romans 4:5 states that to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness. This teaching emphasizes that true faith is not just intellectual assent but trust in Christ for all aspects of salvation. The historical Reformed understanding rejects any notion of works contributing to salvation, affirming that faith and grace are intrinsically linked, without which, salvation would not be possible.
