How does false teaching about the rapture affect believers?

Answered in 1 source

False teaching about the rapture can lead to misconceptions about salvation timelines and diminish the urgency for believers to live faithfully.

The teaching that Christians will be secretly taken out prior to the tribulation creates a climate of false hope, leading many to believe they will escape trials unscathed. As indicated in the sermon, this idea undermines the urgency for believers to prepare themselves for potential hardships and remain steadfast in their faith. Instead of fostering a robust discipleship that encourages believers to grow as devoted followers of Christ, it can result in complacency and a lack of readiness. Moreover, the expectation that the church will be absent during periods of tribulation may mislead the unconverted into thinking that they have time to repent after the church is taken away, which the Scriptures do not support, thus reinforcing the urgency of the gospel.
