How does Nehemiah 10 highlight the relationship between law and grace?

Answered in 1 source

Nehemiah 10 shows that the law reveals human sinfulness while grace provides the means for redemption and restoration.

The covenant made in Nehemiah 10 represents a communal acknowledgment of sin and a commitment to uphold God's law. However, it also exposes the inadequacy of relying solely on the law for righteousness. The people’s recognition of their need for grace amidst their failures is crucial. The law serves to reveal sin (Romans 7:7) and thus points to the necessity of grace for redemption. This relationship is further clarified in the New Testament when Paul explains that Christ fulfills the law on behalf of sinners. Therefore, while the law demands perfection, grace offers forgiveness and a renewed relationship with God through Christ, enabling believers to fulfill the law not out of obligation, but out of love and gratitude.
