The Holy Spirit is essential for opening our eyes to faith and bringing us to belief in Christ.
The Bible emphasizes the necessity of the Holy Spirit in the process of salvation. In John 16:7, Jesus indicates that it is expedient for Him to go away so that the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, can come to aid believers. Without the Spirit, we would be incapable of understanding spiritual truths or having faith (1 Corinthians 2:14). The Spirit plays a crucial role in convicting us of sin and leading us to acknowledge Christ’s sufficiency for our salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). As seen in Acts 2, the arrival of the Holy Spirit was a powerful testament to the Spirit's role in effectively bringing life to believers.

We know the Holy Spirit is at work when we recognize our sin, believe in Christ, and have a shared passion for the gospel.
The work of the Holy Spirit is evidenced in our recognition of our sin and our understanding that our biggest problem is unbelief (John 16:9). When the Spirit moves in our hearts, we begin to see that our righteousness is found only in Christ, and we depend wholly on Him for our salvation. Additionally, when the Spirit is present, believers will exhibit unity and one accord around the gospel message (Acts 2:46). This unity manifests in a shared understanding of God's sovereignty in salvation and a collective desire to exalt Christ above all else. Such characteristics show that the Holy Spirit is actively working within us.
John 16:9, Acts 2:46
Unity among believers fosters a powerful environment for growth and the work of the Holy Spirit.
Unity among believers reflects a manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s presence in a congregation. In Acts 2:1, the early church was described as being of one accord, which resulted in the powerful working of the Spirit. This unity is vital for the church as it ensures that all members align with the truth of the gospel. Without unity, the church becomes fragmented and ineffective in its mission to proclaim Christ. The Spirit empowers and harmonizes believers, leading them to work together in extending God’s grace and love to the world. Furthermore, when believers are of one accord, they testify authentically to the transformative power of the gospel.
