Let's take our Bibles and turn
with me to the Gospel according to John chapter 6. John 6. This morning I'd like for us to look
at verses 38 to 40. John 6. 38 to 40. And before we begin, let's ask
our Lord a question. Our Father, how thankful we are
for this day, the day that you've given us, the Lord's Day, to
be able to come and to sit and to hear and to worship. We ask you today, help us to
worship, help us to hear, help us Lord, I pray that today, Lord, would you be pleased to save
your people. I pray for our kids, our grandkids,
parents, our loved ones, spouses. Lord, have mercy. Thank you for
Christ's sake. Amen. found in the glorious scriptures
that we'll consider this morning. The compressive truths that are
only known as the Spirit of God reveals to His people. By the Spirit of God's blessing,
the Word of God, we understand and we know. There's come a time when every
person, scriptures we looked at this last Wednesday night,
is appointed unto man once he dies. And in that day, what's going to matter? Say one
thing, what thing? Give Christ. That's it. Nothing else. What do you think
of the Lord Jesus Christ? I pray that the Lord bless this
word. I was talking to Brother Clay
Curtis the other day and he said something that I told him. I said I heard someone say almost
the same exact thing concerning me. He said that someone came
up to him and asked him this. He said, do you have any other
material than what you preach? And I told Flutty, I said, I've
had someone tell me that. You know, what we do, all the
apostles say is that we preach Christ and He'll crucify us. I was thinking about this this
morning as I was going over the notes. I'm just going verse by
verse, taking just exactly what Almighty God is saying, verse
by verse, just the way that the Spirit of God had it to be written. And the message never changes.
It doesn't matter if you're Genesis, Proverbs, Revelation, The message
never changes. In that sense, what will a man
have as his hope for what God has to say? I do pray that the
Lord bless this service today. Bless these messages today. Oh,
that God might be pleased to call the lost out of darkness.
He might be pleased to bless His Word to the foundation of
the center. Can't be glorious. We finished last Sunday with
this verse, verse 37, John 6, verse 37, and this is what the
Lord Jesus Christ has to say, all that the Father giveth, me. You know, we believe that God
has given the Son of people. Don't we believe that? We believe
that God has chosen a people and has entrusted them to the
Lord Jesus Christ. We know that. We believe that
Almighty God has before the foundation of the world chosen to show mercy. All that the Father giveth me,
listen to the surety of this, shall come to me. How are they
going to come? They're going to come believing,
made willing in the day of His power. That's how they're going
to come. I'm not talking about walking down an aisle, that's
it. I walked down numerous times,
down aisles, following men. All of my family, precious, don't
you want to go down and give your heart to Jesus? This is what God says. All that
the Father giveth me shall come to me. who the Father has given to the
Son. How do I know? I'll tell you
how I know. Based on His Word. Before that
person leaves this world, they believe Christ. And they forsake
every other false hope. It all becomes done to them.
They come to Christ. Coming to Christ evidence of
God's electric grace in him that cometh to me notice that there's
that ETH again he that cometh to me God's sheep don't look back to
some point in time oh I know I know we do think I mean I think
to myself there was a time in my life I remember a period whereby
I began to hear that point in time when it seems like to me
the Lord began to deal with me concerning the gospel of God's
free grace in Christ. I remember, but I, somebody say,
can you give me the date and time, the hour, the moment? He
said, no. I remember a time, but I can
tell you this, I do know this. I realize that Almighty God calls
his people out of darkness into light. I do know that there's a time
when man begins to believe. God knows. But here's the issue. Are you coming now? Are you coming
right now? You think back on a time, and
I'm telling you, You'll have to guess yourself all day long. As I said before, that's water
under the bridge. What do you believe right in front of you?
Today is the day of salvation. What do you believe right now?
He that cometh to me, continually coming, continually coming, continually
looking, continually striving, continually coming to Christ, always, Preserved by the power
of God. Kept in Christ. Because God said where God puts
a man, that's where He keeps a man. He that cometh to me,
I will in no wise cast him out. The Lord's promised. He refuses
none that come to Him. Those that come to Him are made
willing in the day of His finally. They come. They come for life. They come for hope. They come
for safety. They come to Christ. They come
to their refuge. I remember an illustration. I've
used this here before. It just came to my mind. I thought it was good. It was
a farmer standing out in the field. Saw a little pond being
chased by a pack of dogs. Hey, you know a little pond. You try to get around it. There's
a deer or something like that. They're going to run from you.
I hear it's a pack of dogs chasing this little fawn. That little
fawn running just as fast as he could, got real close to the
man and leaped into his arms. You know, safety. And that man
began to fight those dogs off. He's never going to let that
little fawn perish. He said, okay, he can help it. You know, that little fawn doesn't
feel his strength. How much more? Those that are
made willing in the day of God's power, come to Christ, cast themselves
upon the mercy of God. Lord, save me, I'm going to perish.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that
cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Now this morning, I'd
like for us to consider concerning this issue of salvation. This
is the message, the glorious message of God's salvation in
His Son. What does the Lord Jesus Christ
have to say concerning the salvation of His people? Well, here's what
verse 38 says, For I came down from heaven, not to do my own
will, but the will of him that sent me." Now this is what I
know concerning salvation. Almighty God, in order to save
a sinner, must come into this world. The Lord God Himself,
to accomplish salvation, to accomplish His will, in the salvation of
his people, God himself, must come into this world. I came down from heaven. The I Am, the Word himself, in
the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God and
the Word was God. And only God himself can satisfy
God demands for righteousness before himself. Only God can
supply that. Only God can accomplish that.
He alone. God, man, BHR. I came down from heaven. Not
to do my own will. Not that the will of the Lord
Jesus Christ is something separate from the But what he's saying
is this, this is not my will only. My will, the Father's will,
the Spirit's will, one will. I came down, not to do my own
will, but the will of Him that sent me. This is why all false
religious, impotent thoughts, of being able to accomplish salvation
by the works of a creature, one created, is
hopeless. There is no possibility that
a man, born in iron, can accomplish salvation. He can have no part
in it. no part whatsoever. Almighty
God alone can save a sinner. Therefore, the Lord Jesus Christ
says, I came down from heaven not to do my own will, but the
will of God, the will of Jehovah, the will of my Father, accomplishing
as the federal head maturity, mediathon, of God's sheep, the
Lord Jesus Christ took upon Himself the form of simple flesh. He knew no sin. God Himself,
I'm going to deal with, Lord willing, with this next message
concerning His body. He said, Body, hath thou prepared
me? He came into this world and took
upon himself, never relinquished deity. He's God. Almighty God. And God himself is man. He absolutely walked before God. Man, Christ Jesus, the Son of
Man, and by faith he obeyed God. He walked by faith. Lived by
faith. He trusted. He said, I do always
only those things that please my Father. He knew the Father's
will. And he came into this world as
the absolute, surety, federal head of all that the Father gave
him, and thereby earned in human flesh a righteousness as man. And that righteousness is the
righteousness that is imputed, charged to. His righteousness
was charged to us. His righteousness imputed to
us. And Almighty God looks upon us
in Christ. Faithful. As I've told you before, I can't
even pray faithfully. I can't even keep my mind consistent. It's just like I just fight with
myself. I know what I ought to do. That's
what Paul says. That which I would, that I don't
do. I know, I know in my heart, I
know the right thing. I know what's right. I know that
absolute faithfulness is right. And I can't do it. Grief. You just know it doesn't,
doesn't grieve you. I came not to do my own will,
but the will of Him that sent me. What was the will of the
man that sent the son? What was his will? That he might
seek and save that which was lost. Live for them. Establishing righteousness for
them. Going to the cross for them.
Being made sin for them. Being made what they are. And he hung upon that cross.
He hung there as the absolute substitute. Paul said, I was
crucified with him. Why? Because Paul, just like
every other man born in Adam, is nothing but sin. You know why we sin? Do you know
why we're sinners? Because of what we are. Sin. Guilty. That's what Christ has
made, a curse. Delivered us from the curse of
the law, being made a curse for us. You go look up that word and
find out what it means. I'm telling you, He came down
to do the will of the Father. What's the Father's will? people. Here is the Mediator,
the High Priest, Almighty God, our Savior. Marvelous truth. Here's God's
will revealed. It's certain, established. What is the Father's will? Verse 39, this is the Father's
will. Well, you know, isn't this wonderful? People talk about, you know,
I want to do, I want to know, I'd like to know what God's will
is. Well, here's, I'm going to tell you what God's will is here.
How do you know what God's will is? God sent what His will is.
This is the Father's will, which has sent me, that of all which
He has given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it
up again, That's the last day. This is the Father's will. This
is what Almighty God has established, set forth, decreed. God has a desire. God has an intent. God has a
determination. God Almighty has a decree. And
it's going to be done. Isn't that good news? Isaiah 46, 9, 10. Remember the
former things of old. For I am God, and there is none
else. I am God, and there is none like
me. Declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying,
My counsel shall stand, I will do all my pleasure. I'm going to save my people. The Lord Jesus Christ came into
this world to accomplish the Father's will. of all that were
given Him. Giving Him the blessing grace. Not only did the Father choose
Him in Him, but He gave Him power to accomplish that which is the
Father's purpose. That's what John 17 says. Thou
has given Him power over all flesh that He should give eternal
life to as many as Thou has given Him. And God's will that I should
lose nothing. John 18, 9, this is what the
Lord Jesus Christ said of them, which thou gavest me, I've lost
none. None. None. You know, when I think
of men, they argue and fuss and fight. But by God's electing
grace, Listen, if Almighty God had not
chosen the people in Christ, if Almighty God had left mankind
to itself, to exercise its own free will, if Almighty God had
left men to do what men wanted to do, this whole world would
have perished. But God so loved the world, the
arrangement, the order that he gave his only begotten son. And
when you think about election, and you look down your nose at
it or something, or somebody looks down their nose at you,
something like this. If the Lord had not lent us a
remnant, Paul said we'd have all been like Solomon tomorrow. Thank then the God that God chose
you to be. Oh, the mercy of God that God
chose to show mercy and didn't leave men to this. That Almighty
God, His will is going to be done. Proverbs 19, 21, there
are many devices in a man's heart. Nevertheless, I tell you what, I just started
naming a few devices that I know of, of rebellion, resentment. There are many devices in a man's
heart. Nevertheless, the counsel, the
purpose of God, that shall save us. Of all which he hath given me
I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day. And this, verse 40, is the will
of him that sent me. Of every one that seeth the Son,
and believeth on him, may he have everlasting life. And I
will raise him up at the last day. I shall, I will, this faith
in Christ. ever of eternal life given believe
this. They believe what God has to
say. This is God to you. This is God
Almighty. The Lord Jesus Christ said, you've
seen me, you've seen the Father. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
all of the fullness of the Godhead, wildly looking at Him. There's Jehovah
talking. That's what Jehovah has to say. Everyone that seeth the Son. God is Spirit. No man has been
the father at any time, but the Lord Jesus Christ has. Save the
Son. And he to whom the Son shall reveal
Him. He that seeth the Son. Abraham saw Him. I'll tell you. Abraham saw Him as the Satisfier
of God. He that seeth the Son. and believe
it. Trust in Him to the exclusion
of anything else. I'm telling you, it is a miracle
of God's grace that God gave man a woman of heart and belief.
Trust Him, and not trust any works of righteousness that we've
done. I'm telling you, standing before
God Almighty with any trust in yourself, I'm telling you, is
damnation. I'm telling you. He that seeth the Son, and believeth
on Him. This is what this means. It means
not believing anything else. Not trusting anything else. Not
looking to anything else. He that seeth the Son, and believeth
on Him, may have everlasting life. Eyes to see, ears to hear. John 12 says, saying, He that
seeth Me, seeth Him that sent Me. The One that sent Him. What do
we see concerning the One that sent Him? We see what He says
about Himself. That's what we see. He that seeth
Me, We see as Him that sent me. And what do we see about the
one that sent Him? Well, verse 37 says, all that
the Father giveth me. We see Him as the sovereign electing
God. Him that cometh to me. What do we
see about Him? We see that Almighty God is going
to call my Son. He shall save his people. And him that cometh to me, I
will in no wise cast out. What do we see of the one that
sent the Lord Jesus Christ? They're preserved. Sovereign. To see and believe the Son is
to see the one who is the accomplisher of salvation. I'm not making
salvation possible. Let me tell you something. I'm
telling you, this is the only message that is absolute. This is it. Everything else is based upon
whether or not a man will possibly give his heart to Christ or can
be condemned. I'm telling you, the gospel of
God's grace is absolute. I will, I shall, you shall. All of a sudden the father came
to me. The father's will is that everyone
that seeeth the son and believeth on him and trusteth their very
soul, his chair may have everlasting life. And I will, I will, I will,
I will raise him up in that last day. You know what a believer
believes? He absolutely believes this. God Almighty, God chose, God chose to show me mercy. He gave me to his son. He was not going to trust me.
He puts no trust whatsoever in his servants. Angels are carried, followed
workers. Stars are not purely his side. He will have mercy. We've got
to have compassion. It's a just God. It's a faith
God. Being just, he's going to deal
with sin. Not going to sweep it under the table. A man sinned
against God. And a man is going to pay the
penalty. His son came into this world,
and his son was made sin. An eternal judgment. Now you think every man and every
woman that leaves this world believing in themselves will
suffer eternal judgment because they sinned against an eternal
God and eternity will never pay the debt that they owe to the
rebellion before God's law. They are eternal in nature. The
Lord Jesus Christ paid the eternal debt of all that the Father gave
Him. That which God Almighty will
spew out eternally in judgment. That eternal judgment for all that the father gave
him and in one sacrifice he satisfied God's justice he satisfied the
wrath of almighty God and from his words he said this
it's finished judgment is finished There's
no condemnation to them that be in Christ Jesus. None. There is the question of God. If he was not made sin, why did
God kill him? If he was not made sin, as some
men say, why did he die? How could he have died? He was made sin. The Holy Heart
was not a sinner. He wasn't made a sinner. A sinner is a disobedient one.
He was obedient unto death. He was dead on the cross for
you. He who knew no sin was made sin
that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. I'm telling you,
God satisfy himself in justice. I'm a just God and I'm a savior.
I didn't sweep it under the rug. Christ paid our debt to accomplish
the will of God. And we have no sin to answer
for. The presence of sin is here.
Yes, it is. I know it is. And because He's
just, He forgives us, because Christ paid the debt of it. But
not only has He paid our debt, put away the guilt of God's law,
demanding at our hand an answer for a broken law. There's no
answer for us. Christ has answered for us. And
He's rogues us in righteousness. So now, standing before God,
we stand justified. No charge. No charge. No record. No charge. And they stand holy
in Him. To hear Him say, well done, my
good and thankful son, enter in to the kingdom prepared for
you for the foundation of the world. May God bless these four
star horses and give us some comfort for Christ's sake.
