What does the Bible say about the parable of the pearl of great price?

The parable illustrates the immense value of the Kingdom of Heaven, exemplified by a merchant who sells all to obtain a singular pearl.

In Matthew 13:45-46, Jesus shares the parable of a merchant who, upon finding a pearl of great price, sells everything he has to buy it. This parable symbolizes the Kingdom of Heaven, revealing its unparalleled value. Just as the merchant recognizes the worth of that singular pearl, believers are called to comprehend the worth of Christ and His Kingdom, understanding that true salvation involves a total commitment to follow and love Christ above all else.

Matthew 13:45-46

How do we know God's love for us is true?

God's love is demonstrated through Christ's sacrifice, highlighted in Romans 5:8 where it states that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The truth of God's love for humanity is profoundly illustrated in Romans 5:8, which tells us that God showed His love for us by sending Christ to die while we were still sinners. This act signifies that God’s love is not contingent upon our merit; rather, it is a sacrificial love. Moreover, the reciprocal love that God's people express stems from the understanding that He first loved us (1 John 4:19), establishing a relational foundation built on grace. Thus, God's love is evidenced through the actions of salvation and the ongoing work of believers in responding in love and service to Him.

Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:19

Why is love important for Christians?

Love is the foundation of the Gospel and essential for unity among believers, as demonstrated in Ephesians 4:15.

In Christian theology, love is paramount as it forms the basis for the Gospel and true Christian fellowship. Several scriptural references highlight this, such as Ephesians 4:15, which states that speaking the truth in love leads to growth into Christ. Furthermore, 1 Corinthians 13 elaborates that without love, all other spiritual gifts are meaningless. Love not only drives believers' actions but also fosters unity within the body of Christ, making it essential for the Church’s life and witness. A genuine relationship with Christ compels believers to cultivate love for one another as a reflection of Christ's love towards them.

Ephesians 4:15, 1 Corinthians 13

What does it mean to sell everything for Christ?

Selling everything for Christ signifies a total commitment and prioritization of Him above all earthly possessions or relationships.

The act of selling everything to gain Christ, as depicted in Matthew 13:46, is an illustration of the absolute commitment and devotion required from believers. It entails a willingness to forsake all worldly ties, ambitions, and idols in order to fully embrace Christ as one's greatest treasure. This radical reorientation of life reflects the believer’s understanding of the surpassing worth of Christ, reminiscent of Paul’s declaration in Philippians 3:8 where he counted all things as loss for the sake of knowing Christ. Thus, entering the Kingdom of God demands a heart transformed by love that prioritizes Christ above all else.

Matthew 13:46, Philippians 3:8

Kingsport Sovereign Grace Church,
located at 905 Yadkin Street in Kingsport, Tennessee, would
like to invite you to listen to a message of sovereign grace
by their pastor, Gabe Stoniker. And now, Pastor Gabe Stoniker. If you would like to follow along
with me, I will be speaking to you today from Matthew chapter
13. Matthew chapter 13. In this chapter, our Lord is
giving parable after parable after parable. There are many
parables in this chapter. He gave the parable of the sower.
He gave the parable of the wheat and the tares. He gave the parable
of the grain of a mustard seed. He gave the parable of the leaven. THE PARABLE OF THE TREASURE HID
IN A FIELD AND THE PARABLE OF THE GOSPEL BEING A NET. AND EACH ONE OF THOSE PARABLES
IS SUCH A WONDERFUL ILLUSTRATION OF THE GOSPEL. THAT'S WHAT A
PARABLE IS. IT'S AN EARTHLY STORY SPEAKING
OF SPIRITUAL THINGS. AND ALL OF THE WORD OF GOD IS
THAT WAY. WE HAVE EARTHLY STORY AFTER EARTHLY STORY. AND ALL
OF IT IS SPEAKING OF SPIRITUAL MATTERS. IT'S SPEAKING OF MATTERS
PERTAINING TO THE GOSPEL AND TO SALVATION. AND IN TWO VERSES
HERE IN MATTHEW 13, HE GIVES THIS PARABLE RIGHT HERE. IF YOU
LOOK AT VERSES 45 AND 46, OUR LORD SAID AGAIN, THE KINGDOM
OF HEAVEN IS LIKE UNTO A MERCHANT MAN SEEKING
GOODLY PEARLS, WHO, WHEN HE HAD FOUND ONE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE,
WENT AND SOLD ALL THAT HE HAD AND BOUGHT IT. ALRIGHT, NOW,
DID WE HEAR AND ENTER INTO THE PARABLE? LET'S READ IT ONE MORE
TIME. HE SAID, THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE UNTO A MERCHANT
MAN SEEKING GOODLY PEARLS, A MAN SEEKING PEARLS, WHO WHEN HE HAD
FOUND ONE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE, WENT AND SOLD ALL THAT HE HAD
AND BOUGHT IT. NOW, I PRAY THE LORD WILL OPEN
THIS UP TO US. BEAUTIFUL. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL PARABLE. THAT'S A BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATION
OF THE GOSPEL. AFTER SEARCHING AND SEARCHING
AND SEARCHING, THIS MAN, THIS MERCHANT MAN FINALLY FOUND WHAT
HIS HEART DESIRED AND HE JUST HAD TO HAVE IT. HE HAD TO HAVE
IT. SO IT SAYS HE SOLD EVERYTHING
THAT HE HAD IN ORDER TO OBTAIN IT. ALRIGHT, HE SOLD EVERYTHING. THE GOSPEL AND SALVATION IS BUILT
ON LOVE. IT TRULY IS. IT MOST DEFINITELY
IS. JOHN 3 16 SAYS FOR GOD SO LOVED
BECAUSE GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THIS WORLD THAT WE SINNERS LIVE
ON HE HAD A PEOPLE OUT OF THE SCRIPTURE SAYS EVERY TRIBE NATION
KINDRED AND TONGUE ON EARTH AND BECAUSE GOD LOVED THEM HE GAVE
HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON FOR THEM THAT WAS FOUNDED ON LOVE BUILT
ON LOVE. JOHN 15 VERSE 13 SAYS, GREATER
LOVE HAD NO MAN THAN THIS. HE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS
FRIENDS. YOU KNOW WHAT HUNG THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY? LOVE DID THAT. LOVE. ROMANS 5 VERSE 8 SAYS GOD COMMENDED
HIS LOVE TOWARD US IN THAT WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED
FOR US. SO THE GOSPEL AND SALVATION IS
BUILT ON LOVE. BUILT ON LOVE. THEREFORE THE
EFFECT OF THE GOSPEL AND THE EFFECT OF SALVATION IS LOVE. THAT'S WHAT IT PRODUCES. IT PRODUCES
LOVE IN THE HEART. THIS BECOMES A HEART ISSUE. IT
TRULY IS A HEART ISSUE. SALVATION IS A LOVE ISSUE. IT CAUSES GOD'S PEOPLE TO FALL
IN LOVE WITH CHRIST WHEN GOD SAVES, WHEN GOD QUICKENS, WHEN
HE BRINGS SALVATION TO ONE OF HIS PEOPLE, THEY FALL IN LOVE
WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. IT'S NOT ABOUT LAWS AND DOCTRINES
AND JUST COLD DEAD THINGS. IT'S ABOUT LOVE FOR THIS MAN.
LIKE THAT WOMAN AT THE WELL SAID, SHE THREW HER BUCKET DOWN AND
RAN INTO TOWN CRYING, Come see this man, love for the
Lord Jesus Christ. If you want to read with me over
in Ephesians chapter three, it says in verse 17, that Christ
may dwell in your hearts by faith, that you being rooted and grounded
in love. MAY BE ABLE TO COMPREHEND WITH
ALL SAINTS WHAT IS THE BREADTH AND LENGTH AND DEPTH AND HEIGHT,
AND TO KNOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST WHICH PASSES UNDERSTANDING THAT
YOU MIGHT BE FILLED WITH ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD. THE LOVE OF CHRIST, FILLED WITH
THAT LOVE. EPHESIANS 4, VERSE 15 SAYS, BUT
SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE, that you may grow up into him in all
things which is the head, even Christ. FROM WHOM THE WHOLE BODY
FITLY JOINED TOGETHER AND COMPACTED BY THAT WHICH EVERY JOINT SUPPLIETH,
ACCORDING TO THE EFFECTUAL WORKING IN THE MEASURE OF EVERY PART,
IT MAKETH INCREASE OF THE BODY UNTO THE EDIFYING OF ITSELF IN
LOVE. THAT'S WHAT BEING A MEMBER OF
THE BODY OF CHRIST PRODUCES. LOVE. LOVE. BE YE THEREFORE FOLLOWERS OF
GOD AS DEAR CHILDREN AND WALK IN LOVE, AS CHRIST ALSO HATH
LOVED US AND HATH GIVEN HIMSELF FOR US AN OFFERING AND A SACRIFICE
TO GOD FOR A SWEET-SMELLING SAVOR." Love. Love. I love Psalm 133,
verse 1. It says, AND HOW PLEASANT IT IS FOR BRETHREN
TO DWELL TOGETHER IN UNITY. AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT PRODUCES
THAT UNITY? LOVE. LOVE DOES. EPHESIANS 5, VERSE
25, IT SAYS, HUSBANDS, LOVE YOUR WIVES, EVEN AS CHRIST ALSO LOVED
THE CHURCH AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR IT. PEACE BE TO THE BRETHREN AND
LOVE WITH FAITH. FROM GOD THE FATHER AND THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST. GRACE BE WITH ALL THEM THAT LOVE
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN SINCERITY. AMEN. WE COULD JUST KEEP GOING
ON AND ON WITH THAT. WE COULD READ SCRIPTURE AFTER
SCRIPTURE THAT SPEAKS OF LOVE. ALL BEING BUILT ON LOVE, EVERYTHING
PERTAINING TO THE GOSPEL AND THE SALVATION, BEING BUILT ON
LOVE. PAUL TOLD THE CORINTHIANS, THE
APOSTLE PAUL TOLD THE CORINTHIANS, HE SAID, LOVE FOR CHRIST IS EVERYTHING. IT'S EVERYTHING, AND IT IS. IT'S
EVERYTHING. HE SAID IN FIRST CORINTHIANS
13, HE SAID, IF I HAVE ALL THE OTHER GIFTS that a man could
possess, but I don't have love. He said, if I have the gift of
tongues and if I have the gift of faith and I have the gift
of knowledge and I have all these other things, but he said, if
I don't have love for Christ and love for the saving blood
of the Lord Jesus Christ, he said, I don't have anything. And he said, I am not anything. I'm nothing, he said. If God
does not create a love in his people for Christ. Not their knowledge of things.
That's a self love, not the amount of faith that they have. That's
a self love. Not the amount of doctrine that
they know and believe and hold to. That's all a selfish. Self-righteous
love. If God does not create a love
for the person. Of the Lord Jesus Christ, the
man himself. You know, there's a difference
in wanting to go to heaven. And wanting to be with Christ.
There's a difference. There's a difference in falling
in love with the thought of mansions and golden streets and gates
of pearls and things like that and falling in love with Christ.
When a man and a woman are married and truly in love with one another,
it's not about what they have. It's about being with each other.
A woman who truly is in love is not in love with her husband's
bank account. She's in love with him. And that's
how it is with Christ. God's people fall in love with
the Savior, not just salvation, but the Savior himself. AND IF
GOD DOES NOT CREATE THAT GENUINE LOVE FOR CHRIST, THEN THERE IS
NO EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE SALVATION BECAUSE THAT'S THE EVIDENCE.
LOVE FOR CHRIST. LOVE FOR CHRIST. WHEN LIFE COMES
TO A SINNER, A HEART TO SELL OUT COMES TO A SINNER. And that's
just so, a heart to sell out. Once God reveals Christ to be
the pearl of great price, the one thing needful, that sinner
will sell everything that he has in order to have that one
pearl. That sinner will see Christ to
have won the total value. LIKE THE APOSTLE PAUL TOLD THE
PHILIPPIANS, HE SAID, I HAD ALL THESE THINGS. I COUNTED MYSELF
TO BE ALL THESE THINGS, BUT NOW AFTER I'VE SEEN CHRIST, I COUNT
ALL THAT TO BE DUNG. I COUNT IT ALL LOST. I THROW
IT ALL AWAY THAT I MAY WIN HIM AND BE FOUND IN HIM. I HAVE TO
HAVE HIM. IF GOD EVER REVEALS THE VALUE
OF THE BLOOD OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST THAT PERFECT COVERING OF THE
LORD JESUS CHRIST. THE VALUE AND THE WORTH OF STANDING
BEFORE THE JUDGMENT THRONE, BEING COMPLETELY COVERED IN THE WORK
AND THE PAYMENT AND THE SAFETY AND THE PROTECTION AND THE ACCEPTANCE
AND THE REDEMPTION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. ONCE A SINNER SEES
THAT, THAT'LL BE ALL HE NEEDS. THAT'LL BE ALL HE WANTS. HE OR
SHE. IF GOD EVER REVEALS THE VALUE
OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE FOUND IN CHRIST, THEY WILL SAY, HE
OR SHE WILL SAY WITH THE APOSTLE PAUL, EVERYTHING ELSE IS DUNG. EVERYTHING ELSE IS LOSS. EVERYTHING
I'VE EVER HAD, EVERYTHING I'VE EVER DONE, MEN AND WOMEN LIKE
TO STACK UP THEIR GOOD DEEDS IN THEIR MIND, AND THE THINGS
THAT THEY'VE ACCOMPLISHED AND TICKED OFF, ALL THOSE THINGS
THAT THEY EVER THOUGHT WERE OF VALUE TO GOD, AND THAT THEY EVER
THOUGHT WERE OF VALUE FOR SALVATION, THEY WILL COUNT IT ALL DUNG,
AND THEY WILL GLADLY SUFFER THE LOSS OF IT. THEY'LL SAY, ALL
OF MY RIGHTEOUSNESSES ALL MY DEEDS ARE WORTHLESS, THAT I MAY
WIN CHRIST. I WANT TO WIN THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST AND BE FOUND IN HIM. THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID, NOT HAVING
MINE OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH IS OF THE LAW, BUT THAT RIGHTEOUSNESS
WHICH IS THROUGH THE FAITH OF CHRIST, THE RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH
IS OF GOD BY FAITH. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT, PAUL?
HE WENT ON TO SAY, THIS IS WHAT I MEAN, THAT I MAY KNOW HIM.
that I may know him and look to him. That I may know him and the power
of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings being made
conformable unto his death, if by any means I might attain unto
the resurrection of the dead. Paul said, I cast my all upon
him. I put all my eggs in one basket. I SINK EVERYTHING I HAVE. ALL
OF MY HOPE IS IN THIS ONE THING. HIM. HIM. CHRIST IS ALL. THAT'S WHAT A
SINNER WILL SEE. THAT'S WHAT A SINNER WILL SAY.
CHRIST IS ALL. CHRIST IS MY ALL. HE IS MY PEARL
OF GREAT PRICE. I'VE GOT TO HAVE HIM. I MUST
HAVE HIM. I JUST MUST. That's what happens when salvation
comes to a center. That's what happens when life
is given, when the spirit of God brings life to a center and
reveals the gospel to a center. When a center truly sees the
gospel, the center sees Christ. He is the gospel. He is the good
news. CHRIST. THAT SINNER SEES THE
GLORY AND THE VALUE OF THE PERSON OF CHRIST. AND THAT SINNER WILL
SAY, I HAVE TO HAVE HIM. I JUST HAVE TO. THAT SINNER WILL
SELL EVERYTHING HE HAS IN ORDER TO HAVE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT SINNER
WILL BREAK TIES WITH EVERYTHING THAT HOLDS HIM TO THIS WORLD.
EVERY RELATIONSHIP THAT STANDS BETWEEN HIM AND CHRIST, HIM AND
THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE. EVERY TIE THAT STANDS BETWEEN
HIM AND THE ONE HE OR SHE LOVES, IT WILL NOT STAND. IT WILL NOT
LAST. LOVE FOR CHRIST WILL REIGN. ALRIGHT, NOW, THAT'S SO, BUT
LET ME SHOW YOU SOMETHING THAT'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. That's, this
is wonderful. This is lovely. That's the word
for it. This is lovely. Look with me
if you would. First John chapter four in first
John four, verse 19, it says, we love him because here's the
reason why we love him because HE FIRST LOVED US. THAT'S THE REASON WE LOVE HIM.
GOD'S PEOPLE LOVE HIM BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US. VERSE 10 RIGHT
HERE SAYS HEREIN IS LOVE, NOT THAT WE LOVED GOD, BUT THAT HE
LOVED US. Oh, it's easy for a sinner to
love a perfect, holy, righteous, spotless God who owns everything
and controls everything. But look at us. That that very
God would love us. Herein is love. Not that we love
God. BUT THAT HE LOVED US AND SENT
HIS SON TO BE THE PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS. WE CAN WONDER AND
WE CAN GLORY IN OUR LOVE FOR HIM, BUT THE REAL WONDER AND
THE REAL GLORY IS IN HIS LOVE FOR US. THAT'S AMAZING LOVE. THAT'S THE
AMAZING THING IN SALVATION. THAT'S THE AMAZING PART OF GRACE. WE SING AMAZING GRACE, HOW SWEET
THE SOUND THAT SAVED A WRETCH LIKE ME. THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT
AMAZING. HE LOVED US SO MUCH SO THAT HE
SENT HIS SON TO BE THE COVERING, TO BE THE APPEASEMENT. THAT'S
WHAT PROPITIATION MEANS FOR OUR SINS. THAT SALVATION WILL CAUSE EVERY
SINNER THAT GOD HAS SAVED TO FALL IN LOVE WITH CHRIST. THAT'S
TRUE. BUT THE GLORY OF IT ALL IS THAT GOD'S SALVATION CAUSED
CHRIST TO FIRST FALL IN LOVE WITH THE SINNER. THAT'S THE AMAZING
THING. THAT'S THE GLORY. IT'S THAT GOD'S
SALVATION CAUSED THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO FIRST FALL IN LOVE
WITH THE SINNER. NOW, THIS IS A FAVORITE STORY
OF MINE OVER IN GENESIS 29. IT'S THE STORY OF WHEN JACOB
MET RACHEL, HIS WIFE RACHEL. HE WAS... HE WAS ON HIS JOURNEY
AND IT SAYS IN GENESIS 29, VERSE 1, JACOB WENT ON HIS JOURNEY
AND CAME INTO THE LAND OF THE PEOPLE OF THE EAST THERE WAS
A FIELD THERE AND SHEPHERDS WERE BRINGING THEIR SHEEP TO BE WATERED
AT THIS WELL THAT WAS IN THE FIELD. AND IT SAYS THAT JACOB
WAS STANDING THERE WATCHING ALL THE SHEEP AND THE SHEPHERDS AND
ALL THAT AND IT SAYS RACHEL CAME LEADING HER FATHER'S SHEEP TO
BE WATERED AND IT SAYS THE MOMENT THAT JACOB SAW RACHEL, HE FELL
IN LOVE. ABSOLUTE LOVE. AND IN VERSE 15,
GENESIS 29, VERSE 15, LABAN SAID UNTO JACOB, THAT WAS HER FATHER,
SAID TO JACOB, BECAUSE THOU ART MY BROTHER, SHOULDEST THOU THEREFORE
SERVE ME FOR MY... NOT, TELL ME WHAT THY WAGES SHALL
BE. JACOB SAID, I WANT TO WORK FOR
YOU. AND HE SAID, WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO PAY YOU IN RETURN?
Verse 16, and Laban had two daughters. The name of the elder was Leah
and the name of the younger, Rachel. Leah was tender-eyed,
but Rachel was beautiful and well-favored. And Jacob loved
Rachel and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel,
thy younger daughter. And Laban said, it is better
that I give her to thee than that I should give her to another
man. Abide with me. He said, you served me for seven
years and I'll give you Rachel, my daughter. Now look at verse
20. It says, and Jacob served seven years for Rachel. And if
you know the story, you know that it was 14 years. He served seven and her father
gave him Leah and said, I can't give my younger daughter before
I give my older daughter. He said, you're gonna have to
work seven more years for Rachel. So it ended up being 14 years,
but verse 20 says, Jacob served seven years for Rachel and they
seemed unto him but a few days for the love he had to her. Is
that not beautiful? A few days. Our Lord Jesus Christ
served. That's a picture of Christ. LOVING
HIS BRIDE. OUR LORD SERVED. HE WORKED. HE FINISHED THE WORK. HE REDEEMED. HE DID WHAT WAS REQUIRED TO REDEEM
HIS BRIDE. AND IT TOOK HIM A FEW DAYS. IT
SEEMED TO JACOB JUST A FEW DAYS. IT TOOK OUR LORD A FEW DAYS,
THREE TO BE EXACT, THREE DAYS OF THE CROSS, His resurrection, His ascension.
Why did He do that? Why did Christ endure all that?
He did it for the love He had to her. The love He had for His
bride. He did it because His bride,
a chosen number of sinners that the Father gave to Him. He loved
her. OH, HE LOVED HER. NOW, WITH THAT
IN MIND, LOOK BACK WITH ME AT OUR TEXT, WHICH IS MATTHEW 13. BACK IN MATTHEW 13, LET'S READ
THIS AGAIN. NOT FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF
THE RESULT OF SALVATION, WHICH IS OUR LOVE FOR HIM. LET'S READ
THIS FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE CAUSE OF SALVATION, WHICH
WAS HIS LOVE FOR US. CHRIST'S LOVE FOR HIS OWN. MATTHEW
13, VERSE 45, IT SAYS, AGAIN, THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE
UNTO A MERCHANT MAN. THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE
A MERCHANT MAN. THAT MEANS WHEN YOU LOOK UP THE
DEFINITION OF THE WORD MERCHANT MAN, THAT MEANS A MAN ON A JOURNEY,
A MAN WHO TRAVELED. THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKENED
TO A MERCHANT MAN SEEKING. WHO DOES THE SEEKING IN SALVATION?
WHO DOES THE FINDING IN SALVATION? WHO DOES THE PURCHASING IN SALVATION? WHO HANDLES THE WHOLE TRANSACTION?
HERE'S THE ANSWER. THE GREAT MERCHANT MAN. JESUS
CHRIST THE LORD. VERSE 45 SAYS THE KINGDOM OF
HEAVEN IS LIKE UNTO A MERCHANT MAN SEEKING GOODLY PEARLS. GOODLY MEANS BEAUTIFUL, VIRTUOUS,
DISTINGUISHED, WORTHY JEWELS OF PRECIOUS VALUE. VERSE 46 SAYS
WHO WHEN HE HAD FOUND ONE PEARL HIS BRIDE HIS LOVE, HIS ONE GREAT
DESIRE OF HIS HEART. VERSE 46, WHO WHEN HE HAD FOUND
ONE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE, GREAT VALUE, NOT GREAT VALUE IN AND
OF HERSELF, BUT GREAT VALUE IN AND OF HIM. GREAT VALUE TO HIM
BECAUSE OF WHAT HE WOULD DO FOR HER. HE WOULD MAKE HER SPOTLESS.
VERSE 46 SAYS, WHO WHEN HE HAD FOUND ONE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE,
WENT. THAT MEANS CAME TO. LEFT WHERE
HE WAS AND CAME DOWN TO WHERE SHE WAS. VERSE 46, WHO WHEN HE
HAD FOUND ONE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE, WENT AND SOLD ALL THAT
HE HAD. I MEAN ALL THAT HE HAD. IT COST
HIM EVERYTHING. HE WILLINGLY GAVE UP EVERYTHING
FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM IN BUYING, REDEEMING, PAYING
THE PURCHASE PRICE FOR THE ONE HE LOVED. VERSE 45 SAYS THE KINGDOM
OF HEAVEN IS LIKE UNTO A MERCHANT MAN SEEKING GOODLY PEARLS, WHO
WHEN HE HAD FOUND ONE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE, WENT AND SOLD ALL
THAT HE HAD AND BOUGHT IT. BOUGHT IT. HE DIDN'T TRY TO BUY
IT. HE DIDN'T GO BACK HOME UNSUCCESSFUL. HE BOUGHT IT. AND NOW IT'S HIS. AND THE SONG OF EVERY SOUL BOUGHT
WITH THE PRICE IS, REDEEMED, HOW I LOVE TO PROCLAIM IT. REDEEMED
BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. REDEEMED THROUGH HIS INFINITE
MERCY, HIS CHILD AND FOREVER I AM. I THINK OF MY BLESSED REDEEMER. I THINK OF HIM ALL THE DAY LONG.
I SING FOR I CANNOT BE SILENT. HIS LOVE IS THE THEME OF MY SONG. UNTO HIM THAT LOVED US, SO MUCH
SO THAT HE SOLD ALL THAT HE HAD AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR US. THE LORD CHOSE TO MAKE US HIS
PEOPLE BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE. HE DID WHAT HE WAS PLEASED TO
DO AND IT PLEASED HIM TO SELL EVERYTHING HE HAD, LEAVE HEAVEN,
GIVE UP ALL OF HIS GLORY AND HONOR AND COME DOWN HERE AND
GIVE UP HIS LIFE. to purchase his people to himself,
though he was rich. Yet for the sake of his people,
he became poor, that they through his poverty might be rich. That's
love. That's the foundation of the
gospel. It's all built on the love of Christ for his own. May
God make that to be a blessing to our hearts. You have been
