Philippians
What does the Bible say about living for Christ?

The Bible teaches that to live is Christ, meaning that Christ is the very essence of life for a believer.

In Philippians 1:21, Paul states, 'For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.' This reveals that a believer’s life revolves entirely around Jesus Christ, who is their hope, purpose, and joy. Living for Christ means that every aspect of life is aimed at glorifying Him, and that our identity and desires should be rooted in our relationship with Him. This brings comfort and confidence even in trials, as living for Christ aligns us with His will and power in our lives.

Philippians 1:21, Colossians 3:1-2

How do we know that suffering for Christ is meaningful?

Suffering for Christ is a shared experience among believers, providing evidence of our faith and ultimate joy in Him.

In Philippians 1:29-30, Paul expresses that it has been granted to us not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for His sake. This suffering serves as an evident token of salvation, demonstrating our union with Christ in His sufferings. It is a privilege to share in His afflictions, as it deepens our faith and reliance on Him. Furthermore, when we suffer for righteousness, it aligns us with Christ's own experiences, producing endurance and hope, ultimately leading to joy and glory in His presence.

Philippians 1:29-30, 2 Timothy 1:7

Why is it important for Christians to focus on Christ?

Focusing on Christ is essential because He is the source of our life, strength, and eternal hope.

As elaborated in Philippians 3:8, Paul regards all things as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus. For Christians, Christ is not merely a part of life; He is life itself. This focus enables us to align our desires and actions with His will, fostering a deeper relationship and commitment to glorifying Him in every aspect of our lives. When Christ is truly our focus, we securely anchor our identity in Him, allowing us to endure life's trials with confidence and hope of eternal life with Him.

Philippians 3:8, John 14:6

Every phrase in God's Word, every
word could comprise a sermon, couldn't it? It's glorious. Let's read verses
20 to the end. Paul says, It's my earnest expectation
and my hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed. But that with all
boldness, as always, so now. He's in prison, as you know.
So now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by
life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ,
and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this
is the fruit of my labor. Yet what I shall choose, I do
not know. I am in a strait betwixt two,
having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far
better. Nevertheless, to abide in the
flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I
know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance
and joy of faith, that your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus
Christ for me by my coming to you again. Only let your conversation,
your life, your conduct, your speech, your walk, your talk,
be as it becometh the gospel of Christ. That whether I come
and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, the
affairs of this life, that you stand fast in one spirit, with
one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel, and
in nothing terrified by your adversary, which is to them an
evident token of perdition. or unbelief, but to you, of salvation,
to have adversaries. And that of God, salvation of
the Lord, unto you it's given in the behalf of Christ, not
only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake, having
the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear to be in me. Paul said, I hope is that I will
not be ashamed That's how it started. And then he said, whether
I live or I die, I don't know. It's the Lord.
But he says, for me, verse 21, to live is Christ, and to die
is gain. What does that mean? My, my.
And this has to be in every single child of God over there. Not
a child. Because he said, didn't he, you'll
have the same conflict, you'll have the same feelings, because
you have the same faith, you have the same Lord, same desires,
same mind, same everything, same Holy Spirit. So he says to live,
for me to live is crying. To die is gain. And he said,
I don't want to be ashamed of the gospel. And he told this
to young Timothy, and he tells it to us. Go over to 2 Timothy.
Just a few pages over. 2 Timothy chapter 1. 2 Timothy 1. And he says this throughout
the whole first and second letter to a young preacher who apparently,
Timothy was a little bit, what's the word? shy or something like that, as
Paul kept encouraging him to be bold. In 2 Timothy 1, verse 7, it says,
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of
love and of sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed
of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but be
thou a partaker, partaker of the afflictions of the gospel
according to the power of God. I know how Timothy must have
felt. He felt so sinful. He felt so unable, so unworthy. Who am I? That's what he felt.
But Paul said, no, it's not you. It's the gospel. The gospel is
the power of God. And look at chapter 2, verse
1. My son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus." Everything
he's saying to Timothy, he's saying to us. The things you've
heard of me, commit to many faithful men. Verse 3, endure hardness
as a good soldier of Christ. Every believer is in this warfare,
right? Verse 9, look at verse 9 here.
He said, I suffer trouble for the truth's sake, as an evildoer.
But verse 10, I endure all things for the elect's sake. It's a
faithful saying, verse 11, if we be dead with him, we shall
also live with him. If we suffer, we shall also reign
with him. If we deny him, he'll deny us. So Paul said that, and it's given
to us to not only believe, but to suffer. He'll suffer, be ill-treated
and maligned, and our Lord said, they'll say all manner evil against
you falsely for my sake." Just declare the truth. Just declare
the truth. Just tell the truth about God.
Holy, sovereign, just. Yes, angry. And His wrath. And watch people get mad at you.
And all you're doing is just trying to declare the truth of
God. Just tell the truth about Christ's work. It's not man's at all. It's God's
will, not man's. Tell the truth about man, what
man really is before God. Filthy, vile, wretched, unworthy,
not deserving salvation, but needing mercy. And that mercy
is sovereign. It's totally, completely up to
the Lord to show it. And nobody deserves it. So if
anybody gets it, God gets the glory and it's wonderful isn't
it? Now they are object of his sovereign mercy. Just tell that
to people. That's the truth. Isn't it? That's the truth. Just tell it to people and watch
them get mad at you. Why? Because man doesn't believe the
truth. It offends him. He doesn't know the living and
true God. So what our Lord said, rejoice. Our Lord said rejoice
if this happens to you. And look at verse, in our text,
verse 28. Don't be terrified. Don't back
down. Don't do it. That means you don't
really believe what you say. But stand for the truth of God. That's an evident token of salvation. It's an evident token of salvation
because it's given to all who believe to suffer for the truth's
sake. Suffer for the truth's sake.
And if there's no offense, there's no gospel. Right? Gospel's called an offense. If
there's no persecution, there's no truth. Our Lord even said
this, and this is striking. Woe is unto you if men speak
well of you. That's what the Lord Jesus Christ
said. Meaning, you must not be telling the truth. You must be
compromising the truth, or people wouldn't speak well of you. But if you tell the truth, They're
going to malign you, they're going to hate you, and they're
going to say all manner of evil against you falsely. Peter wrote
throughout his letters, both of them, 1 Peter especially,
about suffering for Christ's sake. He said, don't suffer for
your own meanness or rottenness or sinfulness. If you take that
patiently, you deserve to be healed. But now if you suffer
for righteousness sake, God's righteousness. If you suffer
for the truth's sake, for Christ's sake, you say rejoice. Blessed
are you. Blessed are you. It's an evidence
that you really do know and believe the true God and the truth and
will lay down your life for Him in the face of anybody. You'll
stand up against your family. You'll be willing to lose favor,
to lose influence, to lose all of these things. Like Paul said, nothing to me.
That has to be, that is in every single child of God. Can't deny
Him. Can't deny Him. Our Lord said,
deny yourself. Deny yourself. Well, then He
says here, for me to live is Christ. As He said in Colossians,
Christ our life. Colossians 3. When Christ our
life shall appear, then shall we also appear with him in glory. Set your affection. If you have
risen with Christ, seek those things above where Christ is
seated. This is in every child of God.
Christ is their life. He is not a part of their life. No child of God could say that. There is no such thing as a part-time
Christian. There's no such thing as a part-time
married person, is there? This is called a marriage. Look
over a few pages, back one page, Ephesians 5. Back one page, Ephesians
5. There's no such thing as a part-time
Christian. Christ is life. Like a husband
and wife, right? You live together. You dwell
together. You love each other. There's not a day goes by that
you don't think of that person. There's no such thing as a part-time
marriage, an uncommitted husband or wife. No. If that's the case, they're not
really married. They're just trying to save face
to keep from being embarrassed at what will people think if
we divorce. No, no. Marriage is love. Marriage is a union. Marriage
is you want to be with that person. Marriage is you talk to that
person. Marriage is your friends, your confidants. You don't think
of doing things without them. You think of their welfare. You
serve them. That's marriage. Well, look at Ephesians 5 verse
31. For this cause, verse 30, we're members of Christ's
body, of his flesh. We're members of his body. There's
never a time my little finger says, I ain't going to show up
today. And my body is going to worship. And my little finger says, I'm
going to stay home. That can't be. That just can't
be. If it's severed, it's not a member
of the body. We're members of his body. And
all the members of my body serve what? The head. The head gets the glory of it.
It's the only thing, really, that's revealed, that shows. It's the only thing worth showing. For this cause, verse 31, shall
a man leave his father and mother. Our Lord said, Any man love father,
mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, His own life, I might say. Because it's marriage. Now this
is just a fact. And the preacher can't make someone
fall in love with Christ. There's a sign over one of these
so-called churches that says, fall in love with Jesus. You
can't make yourself fall in love with Jesus. Did you make yourself
fall in love with your husband? Your wife? Did you make yourself
do it? It happens. And you can't do that. And a
preacher can't do it. You can't make yourself do it.
Who can? Who does? The Holy Spirit. It's
like Abraham's servant. Remember the story of Abraham
sending his servant to find the bride for his son Isaac? That
whole picture of Christ. The preacher of the gospel is
that old servant. And Abraham told that old servant, the angel
shall go before you. That's the Holy Spirit. He's
going to go before you. And don't beg her. Don't beg
her. You're not going to bring Isaac
down to her. No, sir. No, sir. You're not going to
bring him down to her level. She's going to come to him. She's
going to fall in love with him. Don't you beg her. My son's not
a beggar. You just go down there and you
tell the story about me and my son, about the Father and His
glorious Son has given him all things. And so the servant did.
He went down to where Rebekah was. And he just told her the
story. And that's it. And after he told
the story, he said, will you go? She said, yes, when can we
leave? She'd never seen this man. But
the Holy Spirit, you see, had worked on her heart and made
her fall in love with Isaac, whom she had never seen. be willing
to go to a place she's never seen, to leave her family, to
leave her kinfolk, to leave everything in this world, and travel a long,
arduous, difficult, laborious journey with an old man, to follow
this old man, an old man. And I'll get off of
that story. We could stay a long time, couldn't
we? That's what the Spirit of God does. Look at verse 31. For
this cause, marriage to Christ, shall a man leave his father
and mother, woman, and join unto his wife. They too shall be one
flesh. This is a great mystery, but
I speak concerning Christ and the Church." See that? So, all right. What is it? to live, what does
it mean for me to live as Christ? Paul could say that from the
bottom of his heart, without reservation. For me? And every single child of God
must be able to say that. Like when the Lord asked Simon
Peter, though he didn't act like he even knew him at one time,
though he denied him, though he reverted right back to that
old man, and was so ashamed of it, when the Lord asked him point
blank, face to face, Simon, son of Joseph, lovest thou me more
than David's? And Simon, without hesitation,
without reservation, from the bottom of his heart said, Yes,
Lord, you know I do. Well, that's for sure. He does
know. He does know. How does he know?
He's the one who gave it. Because they belong to him. They're
his and he's theirs. For me, I love, there's so many
phrases in the Psalms, David says that, but as for me, like
Joshua, as for me, in my house, I'm going to serve the Lord. How about you? Can you say that?
If you can, God bless you. God has blessed you. 1 John 5, let me just read it
to you, you don't have to turn, it says, He that hath the Son
hath life. And he that hath not the Son
of God hath not life. They may have many things, but
they don't have life, eternal life. But he that hath the Son
hath life. All right, let me, let me, let's
go back to the beginning. Let's see if you have life. Let's
see if you have the son. Let's see if you, for you to
live is Christ. Okay. You want to examine yourself?
That's what the scripture said. Let us examine ourselves. See
if we're of the faith. Meaning, is Christ in us? By
faith. If any man loved not the Lord
Jesus Christ, he's going to be cursed when the Lord comes. That's
what the scripture said. All right, let's examine ourselves.
by the word and see if we have this love of Christ for you to
live. Is he? Is Christ your God? Alright? Alright, now Ephesians 2 says
this, and you, have he quickened who were dead and trespassed
in sin? Children of wrath, even as others,
children of disobedience, dead and trespassed in sin. There
was a time when you, when I, never gave him a thought. There was a time when he never
had a problem with sin. Sin wasn't a temptation, it was
a desire. There was a time when he had
no need for God's Word, no need for this gospel, no need to come
and worship the Lord. Like some, they're not here. He only thought about the world,
You only thought about yourself, but God. There came a time, God
in great mercy, took in you. Gave you ears to hear something
you didn't have ears before to hear. Gave you eyes to see the
unseen that you never see yourself. See yourself for what you really
are. You never saw yourself like that. You used to love yourself.
Now all of a sudden, you hate yourself. You used to love this
world and love sin. And I know, I know, the old man
still does, but there's this new man that just hates sin and
loves holiness and wants to be just like Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God comes, gives
you a need, like the woman at the well. She came to the well
every day, every day. Same thing, same thing. Trying
to find happiness. Well, I'll marry this fellow.
I'll marry that fellow. I'll marry this fellow. I'll marry that
fellow. Keep getting married. Well, one of these days, that right
fellow is going to come along. And in the meantime, I'll just
keep going to the well, taking my water pot, you know, just
day in and day out. One day, somebody was waiting
on her. That's exactly what happens to every single child of God. And several of you came to this
place, this well. There were many wells in Jerusalem. But you came to this well where
Christ is prayed, and all of a sudden, the Lord Jesus Christ
Himself speaks to you. You'd never heard His voice before.
Now all of a sudden, He's talking to me. And He creates a need. This woman had created a need
in her. She said, sir, give me this water. She wasn't thirsty
before. Give me this water. He created
conviction, talking about revealing her sinful past and present. And then he revealed himself.
She said, what? When Christ is coming, he said,
I am. She dropped her water bottle. You know, like, well, this is what the Lord does for
every single child of God. This is what He does. Convicts
them of their sin. They hear His voice. They hear
the gospel. They see Him by faith. They see
His glory. They see the beauty of pride.
There was no beauty in Him before. There was nothing in this gospel
before. There was nothing about worship they desired before.
If they came, they just couldn't wait to get out. Couldn't wait
to get out of that door and go back to what they really love.
But God. Comes a day. Was this you? Is this you? Has it diminished? Read Martin Lloyd-Jones' article
on the bulletin. Read it. Has your love for your
spouse diminished? If it's true love, it'll grow,
won't it? And same with this word. This
is life. This is life. He'd have to have
a son. That's life. And, you know, I
said, I think it was Wednesday night, I made the comment, it
doesn't get any better than this. On this earth, it doesn't get
any better than that. And I looked in the face, as now, I look in
the faces of some, and it resonates in their... Yeah, you're right,
it doesn't. There's nothing I'd rather do. Some, it doesn't resonate. It just doesn't. The Gospel is called a saver
of life to life. His face enters the face into
water, so the heart of man and the heart of man. If you love
Christ and a man stands up preaching Christ, you'll love to hear it. Well, to live is Christ. Look at Philippians 3. Go back
to Philippians 3. What a wonderful book this is.
Isn't this your favorite book right now? That's so it is. So with whatever it is you're
looking at at the time, this is glorious. This is wonderful.
As I said, you know, when the Lord puts this love of God in
your heart, and by the way, the love of God is shared abroad
in the heart of man, is number one, a love for his son. God
loves his son supremely. God created the whole universe
for his son. And when God puts this love in
your heart, you love your son. You love everything about him.
He's an altogether loved one. And the more lovely he is, It
becomes to you as the time goes on, the more unlovely everything
else is becoming. And the more you know Him, the
more you want to be with Him. The more you know Him, the more
you want to speak with Him, walk with Him, and walk like Him,
and talk like Him. In your conversation, you want
to do things for His glory and honor, not to bring reproach
on Him. That's what He's talking about, a conversation that becometh
the gospel. Like loving your Father and not
wanting to stain His name. and loving your spouse and not
wanting to bring reproach upon them. Now, Philippians 3 says
this, Paul says this in verse 5. He says, I used to be, I was
more in a stock of Israel, tribe of Benjamin, Hebrew of Hebrews,
Pharisee, zealous, persecuting the church, touching the righteousness
of the law, blame of moral upright, I thought. What things were gained to me,
those I counted lost for Christ. In other words, he was very religious
before. He was proud of his religion.
He was proud of himself. He liked his religion. He liked
his church. He liked the people. He liked himself. He liked his
profession. He liked his works. He liked
his righteousness. He liked what all he'd given
up for the Lord. He liked the fact that he was
now a good man following the Lord and doing all that. But
when he met Jesus Christ, And he did, didn't he? He didn't
come to a knowledge of the doctrines of grace. You'll never hear a child of
God say that. Here's what you'll hear him say,
when the Lord revealed himself to me. When the Lord reveals
himself to you, you have come to a knowledge of the doctrine
of Christ. His sovereignty. Paul didn't
come to a doctrine. Christ came to him and revealed
Himself to him. And so now Paul hates himself.
He hates everything he'd done that he thought was good. He
hates his religion. He hates everything. He'd been
telling a lie all those years to everybody. And now he wants
to undo everything he'd done. He said, everything that I thought
gained me favor with God, I realize. I was getting the glory for it.
And, oh, I don't want to stand before God in my righteousness. It's filthy rags. Look, read
on. He says, I count all my past,
everything I've ever done, lost, waste of time for Christ. Yea,
doubtless, I count all things but lost for the excellence of
the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. See, here's the difference
between a man who's in love with Christ and a man who's in love
with doctrine. Lots of people are in love with
doctrine. Lots of Calvinists, lots of people who love the Puritan. They get more excited when you
talk about the Puritan than when you talk about Jesus Christ.
Oh boy. I don't think they know him. Paul was in love with doctrine
for a while. He still loves the doctrine of Christ. But now he's
in love with a person. And when he talks about salvation,
he doesn't talk about doctrine, he talks about a person. A person. Yeah, when I came to knowledge,
no, he says, when Christ came to be, when it pleased God to
reveal His Son in me. Now, Paul has Christ. And to
have Christ is to have all knowledge. All understanding. Read on. He said, I count everything
done. All knowledge that I may win
Christ and be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness,
which is of the law, but that which is through the faith, how
does it read? Of Christ. I keep stressing this. You know why? Four times in the
scriptures it says that just shall live by faith. And it begins
in Habakkuk. All right? Four times. You know
what the first one says, the just shall live by his faith. Whose faith? You're going to
stand before God because you believe. You're going to stand
before God because Jesus Christ believed. You're going to stand
before God because he as a man lived by faith, because the just
must live by faith. It's required. You must have
perfect faith. You must love God with all your
heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your strength.
Who can say that? You must believe God with all your heart. Do you?
Jesus Christ did. He had to live by faith as a
man. Why did he do this? To show us how? To do it for
us. You must glorify God. You must
not rob God of His glory. Any act of pride, any proud look
is robbing God of His glory. Jesus Christ never had one proud
look. Meek and lowly. A complete servant
of God. He lived by faith as a man. And He did it for His people.
He's a substitute. And we're saved by the faith
of Jesus Christ. And yes, we're saved by faith
in Jesus Christ. On Jesus Christ. But that faith
we have is the result of his faith. The faith we have is not
of ourselves, it's the gift of God. Everyone for whom Jesus
Christ lived and died for, established a righteousness, and paid for
their sins, and right now lives to make intercession for them,
the Holy Spirit comes in time and gives them this faith. You didn't drum it up. You didn't
decide to have it. You didn't make the decision.
God gave it to you. It's a gift. You must have faith.
The just shall live by faith. You've got to have this. And
it's just another name for life. It's just another name for Christ.
The just shall live by Christ. Does that pair that up? Brethren, because there are days
when you don't act like you believe anything. Right? There are days when I don't act
like I believe God at all. What's your hope? Your faith?
Christ. Christ. Is that your hope? It
better be. It is. All of God's people. Paul
said, oh, that I might know Him. Paul, don't you know Him? Better
than most. Yes, he did. He knew Him better
than most. But he said, oh, I don't hardly
know Him at all. Don't know Him like I want to. The power of His resurrection,
the fellowship of His suffering, and I want to be made conformal
unto His death, crucified with Christ. By any means, read on. I'm still in Philippians 3, verse
14. I press, verse 13, I forget things
behind. Forget your past religion. Forget
your profession of faith, your baptism. Forget it all. Forget
it. I pressed for the mark for the
prize of the high calling of God. What high calling? To go
to heaven? No, to be with Jesus Christ.
To be in Jesus Christ. Here it is, Hosea 14.8. Let me
just quote this to you. Hosea said, Ephraim said it in
the book of Hosea. He said, Hosea, where is it? Right before Joel. Right before
Joe, he said this, Ephraim said, What have I to do anymore with
idols? I've heard him. I've observed
him. I'm not going back to my old
religion. It wasn't about him. It was about
us. About man. What you can do and
what you can be and what you can become. What God wants you
to be. That's old religion. when you hear Christ. Alright, look at this. Go back
to our text in Philippians 1. For me to live is Christ. To die is gain. And Paul said, I have a desire.
And this is the desire. It not only must be, it is the
desire of all of God's true people. Like a husband wants to be with
his wife, and the wife wants to be with her husband. He said,
I'm going to stray, whether I will stay here or go. And he said,
for me to stay here is what? For the brethren. As a member
of the body. For the presence of the kingdom. Paul didn't own anything. It's
not for me to accumulate and have fun. It's to be a part of
the kingdom and help my brethren on the road. Like we talked about
marriage being You both inherit the grace of life. You've both been given this grace
of life. Two believers married together. It's not to build a
nice house and have children and just have fun. Two believers, like two brothers
and sisters, to help each other on this road to glory. Christian
and faithful in Pilgrim's Progress. To help one another, to build
up one another when it comes to holy faith. Because in heaven
there's not going to be any marriage, no relationship like that. So
this is preparation for there. And it's to help each other. So Paul says, this is my strength,
I want to be here with you. to help you and all, but oh,
I'd rather be with Christ. Verse 23 says, I have a desire
to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Far better. Listen to this, if I can find
the book. This confession of this young
Moabite woman, to her mother-in-law is the confession of every child
of God to Christ, okay? This is what every single child
of God says to the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer. And treat me
not to leave thee, or to return from following thee. I don't
want to go back to my old gods like my sister-in-law. Where you go, I'll go. Wherever your gospel is, that's
where I want to be. Where you lodge, where you dwell, I want
to lodge there, dwell there, stay there. My people, they're
my people. Your God, that's my God. That's not my God down the road
there. Not my people, but you're my people. Where you die, oh
Lord, I'm crucified with you. I'll die. There will I be buried.
And may the Lord do to me, if anything but death, that he join
us. Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Nothing and nobody. If it's there, then nobody is
going to separate you. And that was Ruth. That was Ruth
said that to Naomi. And then she went on that long,
arduous journey with that old woman. Did it get better? Oh, diddy, that son she saw,
Boaz. She didn't leave anything. She
didn't leave anybody. She didn't lose anything. She
gained. Talking about being with Christ
in glory. Everybody wants to go to heaven.
People want to continue their carnal way in heaven. Want to
be with dad and mom. Everybody wants to be with dad
and mom and their loved ones in heaven. But only God's people
want to go there because Christ is there. It wouldn't be heaven
if He wasn't there. And so it is, those who don't
want to hear Christ, they don't come where Christ is preached.
They preach other things, and that takes up their attention,
and that's what they want to hear. But not God's people. Why? Because they're in love with
Jesus Christ. That's how you know. They want to be with Him.
And to die is gain. Here's my last point. I need
another apple. To die is gain. Eye hath not
seen, ear hath not heard, and you're not going to hear it now,
by just a little bit. To die is gain. To gain true
life, you have to die. You have to die. There's so much
I could say about that, dying to self. all of that, sin and
crucified with Christ. But to lose this life, what you're
losing, you're leaving, is a life of sin. Does that appeal to anybody? Anybody want to leave sin, be
done completely with sin? To go to a place wherein dwelleth
righteousness, no temptation, no guilt, no shame? Anybody? Corruption, to leave
corruption, to leave lusts. Never have any lusts. Never be
angry. Never have any wrath. Never have
any bitterness. Never have any envy. And leave
a life of pain and sorrow and loneliness. Never be alone again. Leave a life of fear and worry
and doubt. Leave a life of labor and sorrow
for eternal joy. and peace, and rest, and be with
someone. Take the people we love, not just
our family, but God's people. And those in whom Christ most
clearly shows forth are those that we love. Meekness, humility,
beautiful characteristics. really meek and mild and humble
and Christ-like. You just love them, don't you?
You really want to be like them. Well, you take all of the wonderful
attributes that you think of in someone. All the love, all
the mercy, all the grace, the beautiful countenance, the smile,
the pleasant words and all that. There's some of you that laugh. I love to hear you laugh. Brightens
up the room when he faces good countenance. Take all of that
and multiply it a million times. And you've got Jesus Christ. No man's spake like this man.
No man's countenance was like this man. His eyes like dove's
eyes. Cheeks a bed of spices. All together
lovely and beautiful, kind, sweet. And this is what the Lord does.
He makes you fall in love with the Lord Jesus Christ. You just
admire Him. You just love Him. You just want
to be with Him. You want to talk to Him. Do you talk to Him? God's
people do. Because they know Him. It's a
relationship. They talk to Him. And the more
you talk to Him, the more you want to talk to Him. The more
you read about Him, the more you want to read about Him. The
more you want to hear Him. And the more you'll fall in love
with Him. Until finally you say, I can't wait to leave here. To
see Him. I can't wait to see Him. And
your people, like the Lord said, all the people of God are just
waiting on Him to come. The Bride. Waiting on the Bridegroom. And when they hear that word,
the Bridegroom coming, He's here. Does that appeal to you? Didn't
say anything about doing anything in Heaven. About any material
thing. Because it's about righteousness
and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit and joy in the Lamb being
with Him. That's heaven. Does that appeal
to you? If that's not in you, ask the Lord to put it in you.
If that's not in you, if Christ is not your life, if you don't
have a desire to depart and be with Him, this is no altar call,
but I'm telling you by the Word of the Lord, you ask Him right
now, Lord, please, reveal Yourself to me. I want this. Sir, give me this water. Okay? Alright.
