Thank you. It says, you're fake. It jumped
out at me, because this is why Paul was writing. Look at verse
2. He said, I sent Timotheus, our
brother and minister of God, fellow laborer in the gospel
of Christ, to establish you and to comfort you concerning your
faith. And verse 5, he said, I couldn't
wait any longer, I sent to know your Faith, in verse 6, when
Timothy came from you unto us and brought us good tidings of
your faith, it overjoyed in verse 7. Brethren,
we were comforted over you and all your afflictions and distress
by your faith. And verse 10, we love to see
your face, he said, and perfect that which is lacking in your
faith. So he's talking, he's writing
to people that believe. They have the faith of God's
elect. Scriptures calls it. The faith
delivered to the saints. Given to the saints. By grace,
you're saved. Through faith. Now if you're
saved, it's a gift of God. But faith is a a gift of God
according to the working of His mighty power, to make someone who never gave
God a thought to now believe with all their heart. Let me
ask you a few questions, okay? Do you believe God is? Hebrews 11, 6 says, He that cometh
to God must believe He is. meaning that He is God. Many people don't believe there
is a God. They certainly don't believe
the God of the Bible, do they? God is as He describes Himself. God is God. He's not trying to
be God. He is God. The name means Creator,
Sovereign, ruler, controller of all things, working everything
according to His will. Do you believe God is God? And not because you let Him.
You would barely believe that. No. He comes through the Gospel,
through the Word, and reveals Himself to His people that He
is God, like Isaiah 43. You have I chosen that you might
know and believe me, that I am He. Before the day was, I am
He. There's no God with me. I am
God. Do you believe God yet? He's
the rewarder, that verse says, of them that diligently seek
Him. Do you seek His face? Do you seek His favor? Do you
seek His mercy? Do you seek His grace? Those
who come to God believe God is, and since they believe God is,
they seek His mercy, they seek His favor, they seek His face,
they seek His presence, they seek His word, they seek His
wisdom. Do you believe God? We're talking
about faith. I'm asking to see if you have,
if this is your faith. Do you believe God? There's a
difference between believing in God and believing God. Do
you believe all that God says about Himself? That's what it
means to believe God. God wrote a book. Do you believe
this is God's Word? Not the words of men. No scriptures
of any private interpretation. But holy men spake as were moved
by the Spirit of God. Do you believe that? Do you receive
this Word Not as the words of men, Paul, Peter, but as it is in truth,
the Word of God. Do you? Every word as being the
Word of God. That's your faith. That your
faith is in the Word of God, the promises of it. Is it? Is
that what you believe? I see some heads nodding. I'd
love to see every head in here nod, but I don't know. All men
don't have to. Do you believe what God says
about you? And I remind you, in God's Word,
truth is offensive to man. It offends man's pride. It offends
man's sense of self-worth. It offends man's sense of his
own wisdom and all of that. It offends man. Does anything
in God's Word offend you? Do you believe what God says
about man, about you? Is that what you believe? You not only believe it because
he said it, you believe it because you feel it, don't you? Alright? Do you believe what God says
about Jesus Christ? Do you believe that salvation
is completely, 100% of the Lord Jesus Christ. It's
completely in Him. It's nothing from you, of you,
by you, but it's all from Him, of Him, by Him, to Him, with
praise of the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you believe that? Do you believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ? And I don't mean with the head. At an early age, as a young man,
I was convinced in my head of these truths, but there came
a time God, through the preaching of the gospel, spoke to my heart,
which created conviction and need, need for mercy, need for
Christ. And then when that man preached
Christ to me, I laid hold of him, I think, and still do. It
wasn't a one-time thing, it's a lifetime thing. He lay hold
of the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. There's a difference in believing
in Him and believing on Him. Do you hang your soul on the
Lord Jesus Christ? In other words, do you hang on
His Word? Do you believe that Jesus Christ
is very God of very God? That that man who walked on this
earth. He was born in a stable and grew
up as a child and was in a carpenter's shop for years. Do you believe that is the creator
of this world? Do you believe that he is the only mediator between God and
man, the only prophet, that prophet of whom Moses spoke? The woman
at the well, she was religious like everyone is. She was a sinner
and didn't know it. Our Lord came to Samaria. He must needs go through Samaria
because she is one of His elect. She didn't know God. She didn't
know Christ. She didn't know the truth. She
didn't know herself. But God sent His Son to her with the
Word. of salvation. And he was waiting
on that well for this woman. And she came. And the Lord began
to speak to her, began to convict her of her sin. Began to create
in her a need, a thirst for the water of life that she didn't
know what it was. And Christ revealed unto her,
hide in the water of life. Alright, but she said, she was
religious. She said, our fathers worshipped here, and you Jews
worshipped here. And the Lord said, you don't know what you
worship. True worshippers worship the
Father in spirit and truth. What is the truth? Christ is
the truth. They worship Him by the Holy
Spirit taking Christ and revealing Him unto you. So Christ began
to speak to her and she said, well, when Messiah is coming, He'll tell us all things. And
He said, I that speak unto thee, am."
Dropped her water pot. Went running into town. She now
knows the Lord Jesus Christ. And told everybody she could
tell, come see a man. This is the Christ. Do you believe
that He's that prophet? Priests, some in here, some of
you were in the Catholicism. And you were told that you need
to go confess your sins to a priest. You need to confess your sin
to a priest, and he did just that. Well, one day, a few of you,
some of you, heard the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, how
that he is that priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
That he's the true, great, high priest of God, the only mediator
between God and man. One person, the man, the Lord
Jesus Christ. And if you confess your sins
to him, he'll not only hear your confession, but he'll absolve
you of all of those sins. Put them away, blot them out,
completely, forever. The handwriting of ordinance
against you. And by his own blood, pay for
every sin you've ever committed past, present, and future. There's
some in here who heard that, and then they finally found out,
I don't need that sinful man in that little booth. I'm not going to confess my sins
to another sinner. I've confessed them and continue
to confess them to the Lord Jesus Christ who sits at the right
hand of the majesty on high and the Father hears him and he absolves
me of all my sin. Do you believe he is the priest
of God and King? He's the King. Do you believe
that Jesus Christ so reigns and so rules that all power and all
authority is given unto him in heaven and earth so much so that
the King's heart, the President of the United States, his heart is in the hands of Jesus Christ
to turn him whether so ever he will. Do you believe that? If you do, then Quit listening
to the news, okay? I'm telling you the good news,
okay? When Manasseh reigned over Israel,
who reigned over Manasseh? The most evil man ever on this
planet was Manasseh, the Lord's censor. You know what? Jesus
Christ turned his heart. He's able to. Do you believe? Is that your faith? Do you love
God as God? It's not just to believe in your
head. Not just to be convinced of these
things. Do you love the truth? Do you
love? It says of some in 2 Thessalonians
2 that they receive not the love of the truth, and so God gives
them strong delusion to believe a lie. But those who receive
the love of the truth, not only do you know the truth and believe
the truth, but you love the truth. Do you not love that God reigns? Do you not love that salvation
is up in the Lord Jesus Christ? Do you not love that? If you're
a sinner, you love that. If you're a sinner, you love
that salvation is not conditioned on you, not dependent on you,
doesn't have anything to do with you. You love that. Those that love His salvation
say, let the Lord be magnified. Is that what you say? Thank God
for His sovereign love and salvation. Do you love His people? Do you
love His church? Is this life to you? When you talk about Christ being
alive, you're talking about His church. You're talking about his worship,
you're talking about his word, you're talking about the things
of God. This is life to his people. Like Peter and the apostles,
some people went away, and our Lord said, will you also go away?
Where did everybody go when they left, those disciples, when they
went back and walked no more with him? What did they go back
to? Back to the world, back to their pursuits, back to the things
that they were pursuing before, that never left their hearts.
And the Lord turned to Simon Peter and the apostle said, will
you also go away? And Simon Peter said, to whom?
Where? Why? What? What could possibly? What will we go back to? You
see, they knew that they had been rescued as beggars from
a dung heap. That they had been taken out
of a pit like the children of Israel in Egypt, rescued from
the slime pits. And now they're on a highway headed to the promised land.
Oh no, no, we'll go back. Like Hebrews 11 said, if they'd
have been mindful of where they came back, they might have gone
back. But no, they looked for a better country. Is that you? Is that your faith? I wanted to know. I wanted to
know your faith. Just like Paul. And it gives me great joy. By glory in our God who gave
you such faith. This is faith. This is evidence
of unseen thing. Unseen God. Unseen Kingdom. Evidence
of unseen thing. Have you confessed Jesus Christ
in believers baptism? Have you believed that Christ
is your hope? He commanded it. He said, he
that loveth me and keepeth my commandments, he it is that believeth
me. And our Lord said, he that believeth and is baptized shall
be saved. So he that does not confess me
before me, I will not confess him. He said, He that is ashamed
of me in this wicked and adulterous generation, I'll be ashamed of
him. Have you confessed the Lord Jesus Christ and believed what
I did? All who love Him, confess Him.
And if not, why not? If so, you believe. Why not?
Now, when I'm talking about confessing Christ, I'm talking about this
Christ that I just described. The Christ of the Scripture,
not another Jesus. Some in here confessed that other
Jesus. You were in false religion, and
you believed in Jesus like everybody else. He was standing outside
your heart's door, and you let Him in one day. And the preacher
told you you didn't need to be baptized, and you did. And you
confessed another Jesus. But then when you heard the truth,
you heard the gospel. That he's not that Jesus at all,
that he's the Lord Jesus Christ. Like Saul of Tarsus, he thought
he was just Jesus, and he found out he didn't even know who he
was. And when Saul of Tarsus, can
you imagine how humbling it was for Saul of Tarsus to get in
the baptismal pool? Huh? That leader of men, that
preacher, that theologian. He had to tell everybody, I wasn't
saved before. I didn't know God. I didn't know
Jesus Christ. I didn't know who He was. But
now He's revealed Himself unto me. And I'm just thrilled. Unworthy
to confess Him. So he said, where's water? I
said, let me be baptized. And He was. Have you? He commands it. If not, why not? Why not? You ain't gonna feel
it. Faith is not feelings. Faith is faith in Christ. Faith
is not faith in your faith. Faith is not faith in your goodness,
in your works, in your... Progression or your... Faith is not... You're not confessing
yourself. You're confessing Christ. You're
telling everyone, I believe He's the Christ. I believe that He's
the only Savior. I believe that I need a Savior.
And He said, confess Him. And I want to be saved. I don't
know if I am saved, but I confess that if I am saved, it's going
to be by Jesus Christ. And so, that's what baptism is. That's what it is. It doesn't
change anything, however. All the people in Pentecost,
it says after they confessed Him in baptism, it says the Spirit
of God came upon them and gave them great assurance. Well, for those who have this
precious gift that I've been speaking of, and faith is a gift, I am sent, and like last week,
I sent unto you a dear young man named Eric, like Timotheus. And a couple of weeks I am sending
a man named Walker, Mike. Sending after that a man named
Walter, Pendleton. And on and on it goes. Verse
2 says, our brother, the minister of God, Servant of God. How do you know them? Like the
radio messages more. Like the second chapter. How
you know them is they're preachers sent from God because they preach
God. They preach Christ. They preach
the Gospel. They preach God's Word. They're
not man-pleasers, but God-pleasers. That's how you know. Timothy,
like Eric. He's our minister of God, a brother,
a fellow laborer in what? What does he do? The gospel of
Christ. And he said, I sent Timothy,
Timotheus, to establish you and comfort you concerning your faith.
My purpose in preaching this morning is just that, to establish
you and comfort you concerning your faith. Your faith. Your
faith. Your faith. Your faith. Your
faith. I've seen so many heads knock your faith. You seem genuine. You seem sincere about your faith. And I want to establish you and
comfort you concerning your faith that God gave you faith. I remember
one time Brother Bruce Crabtree preaching on this and he said,
it's my faith. God gave me faith. I have this
faith and it's my faith. Although I didn't come up with
it, I didn't conjure it up, I didn't decide to have it. God gave it
to me. It's a precious gift. He said, it's mine, and I wouldn't
trade it for anything. He went on and on about that.
He said, you can't have this. I'm going to sell it for the
world. And it's not an if. It's just trust and belief in
a person in the Lord Jesus Christ. These men are sent, I'm sent,
to establish you. Now, the word establish is used
so many times. I looked it up. I love to do
word searches. Some of you do too. The word
establish is used so many times in the Scripture. You can't believe
how many times. What's the root word of establish?
Stable. I don't mean a horse. I mean
something that is solid. Something that's unmovable. Something
that's unshakable. Something that's settled. Like
a building on a firm foundation. Like a building on a rock. Now
you know what he's talking about. I'm sent and the preacher of
the gospel is sent to establish you, to settle you concerning
your faith that Christ is indeed that rock. That God laid this
foundation, that other foundation can no man lay than that which
is laid, which is Christ Jesus alone. And God Almighty put all
of your salvation, all of the salvation of all of His people
on Christ the salvated rock. He sent Christ. He sent His Son. It was like that rock that followed
the children of Israel and went before them. That rock which
was smitten and out of it came the water. Christ the smitten
rock, out of his side came water and blood. Justification, sanctification,
salvation is all in the Lord Jesus Christ. The smitten rock,
the rock of ages, cleft for me. Let me hide myself in it. Christ
is that rock. And God put in Christ, upon Christ,
all the salvation of all of God's people. And He came down here
to do the Father's will. And this is the will of Him that
sent me, Christ said, that everyone that seeth the Son and believeth
on Him should have everlasting life. And He said, I will raise
Him up at the last hour. I will. He said that. He can't
lie. And He cannot. And that rock
is Christ. The one that God made Christ. The one upon whom God built His
kingdom and His church. And the gates of hell will not
prevail against it. Do you believe that? You know the first time the word
established is used is in Genesis chapter 6 verse 18. The very
first time established is used was when God spoke to Abraham. And he said, with you have I
established my covenant. Now Paul in Hebrews, I was going
to have you turn, but I've spent more time already than I intended.
But Paul in Hebrews and Romans talks about a covenant. He talks
about Abraham. And he says in so many words,
he said, now God really wasn't speaking to Abraham so much that
day when he said, I'm going to bless you and you, all the people
of the earth are going to be blessed. Because Abraham is just a man.
When he said, thy seed, who he's talking about that he made a
covenant with long before Abraham was Jesus Christ, whom Abraham
represented. Jesus Christ, that God said of
Christ, all the people of the earth will be blessed because
of you. And your seed will inherit all things, be heir of all things.
The faith of Abraham was this, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said
that. He said, your father Abraham
rejoiced to see my day. He saw it and he was so glad. So the oath and covenant which
God made with Abraham was a type or a symbol or a picture of a
covenant that was made long before Abraham ever came. You see, really,
the first covenant was not the covenant with Abraham or the
covenant with Moses, but was the covenant with Jesus Christ.
It was the everlasting covenant, the eternal covenant, made with
Christ before the world began, ordered in all things and sure,
and given into the hands of a covenant head, Jesus Christ, to come down
here and fulfill that covenant. Now, I've said all that, and
I'm going to illustrate. It's like that little girl said
of my pastor's preaching. I love his preaching because
he preaches a while and then he'll tell you something. Well,
Christ is the surety of the everlasting covenant, meaning that God put
all things into His hands. Salvation of His people. God
said to Christ, He made this oath and this covenant. If you
go down there and you become their payment, if you go down
there and become their righteousness, I will impute it to them. I will
charge it to them. And I'll not charge them with
one sin. If you pay for all their sins, their sins are gone. I'll
separate them from them as far as the east is from the west.
I'll blot out all the handwriting and ordinances against them.
If you agree to be made sin for them, to go to that cross and
bear my wrath and punishment in separation from me for them,
if you do that, I'll receive them unto myself forever. And
their sins will never be brought up. And Christ said, I will. In the volume of the book it
is written to me, I come to do thy will. Oh God, did he do it?
Yes he did. Now you have God's oath and you
have his covenant and what else? The blood. The blood of the everlasting
covenant. It's good news. It's the best
message I've ever heard. It's the same message we hear.
Alright, I want to tell you something. Talking about a covenant head,
assurance head. In the Old Testament, the story of Jacob, Joseph, you
know that whole story. It made me want to go back and
preach that again. But, where am I? Alright, Joseph
was on the throne. This is a picture of God. And,
Joseph demanded, Joseph's a picture of God. But Joseph demanded of
his guilty brethren that they be held in captivity. And they confessed their sins
and were made guilty. And then he set them free. But
he kept one. in captivity. Simeon was the
first one. He kept him there. He was in
captivity. And then Joseph made this command
to the children of Israel, the sons of Jacob. He said, you'll
not see my face again until your brother Benjamin be with you.
I want you to bring that youngest son. They said we have a younger
son at home. He's the father's The apple of
the Father's eye. And Justice said, well, bring
Him with you. And this is how I'll know you're
true. Bring that Son of the Father to me and let me see Him. And
if I see that Son, I'll let this captive go free, your brother
go free, and I'll believe that you're a true man and I'll receive
you unto my Son. If you don't bring that Son to
me, I won't receive you unto my Son. Alright? Judah went home to the father
and he told him this. He said, the man said, he swore
with an oath that you'll not see my face until Benjamin, our
brother, come back with me. Oh father, you must send the
young son or he'll not receive us. And the father said, oh no, I
can't do that. Well, Judah said, Judah said, He said, Father,
if I don't bring that Son back to you, hold me accountable. Hold me
responsible. I will bring the Son back to
you. I'll be the surety. If I don't bring Him back to
you alive, then you hold me accountable. Put Him in my hands. Give the
Son to me, and I'll present Him to the Lord over all. And if
I don't bring Him back to you alive, hold me accountable. Judah
was a surety for Benjamin. Do you know what tribe Jesus
Christ came from of the sons of Jacob? What tribe? Somebody
tell me. Judah! And that's on purpose. Because
Christ is the surety. God the Father, the Holy God
says, you'll not see my face and live unless you come to me
by the sign. Then I'll know you're a true
man. When you truly know that you cannot come into the presence
of a holy God except one way, by the Son of God, your righteousness. You'll not come before me. And
if you do, come with me that way. If you do, I'll receive
you unto myself. All that come unto me by Him. Christ is that surety. Christ
is the Son. Christ is Benjamin. Isn't it? Christ is the one on the throne.
Christ is all of that. Do you believe that? Who could
have wrote that but God? So that's Christ. But look at
this, and let me close. It says, I'm sent And these preachers are sent
to establish you and comfort you concerning your faith. Verse
3, that no man should be moved by these afflictions. You yourselves
know we are appointed thereunto. What affliction? Verse 4, we
told you before that you would suffer tribulation that has come
to pass. What tribulation? He's talking
about being hated for the truth's sake. That's what that was. That's the suffering they were
going through. Oh, they went through the typical trials and
troubles that everyone does, you know, sickness and sadness
and sorrow and this and that and the other trial, but the
suffering, the afflictions that he's talking about here is look
at chapter 2, verse 14. Your brethren, you became, you
brethren became followers of the churches of God in Christ
Jesus who also have suffered like thanks of your own countrymen.
Peter said this, he said, if you be reproached for the name
of Christ, happy are you. Spirit of glory and of God rests
upon you. On their part, he's evil spoken
of. On your part, he's glorified. Oh, if any suffer as a Christian,
and that doesn't mean for good works. No man suffered for good works.
Christ didn't suffer for good works, did he? He said, for what
good work do you stone me? And he said, we don't stone you
for good work, but you're just a man, and you say you're God. Alright? Every one of God's people
will suffer for that same reason when they say, He's not just
Jesus, He's God. This is not a Jesus you accept
or reject, He's God who must accept or reject you. But it's not by goodness that
you do, because there's none good. It's only by the goodness
of Christ imputed to you. And people don't like that. I'll
have you know I'm as good as the next man. Yes you are, and
that's no good. Because there's none good. And
if you get to heaven, it doesn't matter how moral you are, how
good you are, whether you quit, whatever you quit, or whatever
you've never touched, or tasted, or handled. It doesn't matter.
Because sin is not in a bottle or a box, it's in the heart,
and it's in your heart. And unless Jesus Christ does
something for you to God, you won't be in God's presence someday.
You believe that? Well, you tell people that. Is
that hard? Am I being hard? Did I say that in a hard way?
Well, these are hard sayings to most people, aren't they? Is it hard to you? And
if you tell people that, even your family, they won't like
it, will they? And they'll hate you for it.
But he said, be happy. It's a token. It's evidence. You have the truth, because so
suffered your brethren before you, the prophets and our Lord
Himself. So I'm sent to comfort you in all your afflictions and
trials concerning your faith. Don't be moved by this. Don't
be moved by this. Now let me illustrate. We talk about the Ark of Noah
quite a bit, don't we? Our Lord spoke of it. Scripture
speaks a great deal of it. Noah. Noah was a preacher of
righteousness. Noah was a preacher. 120 years he preached righteousness.
Whose righteousness? God's righteousness. Now you
know Noah lived 700 some years. Do you not think God told him
what that ark represented? Come on now. He's a preacher
of righteousness, sister. He knows what God's righteousness
is. It's Jesus Christ. He didn't know his name was Jesus,
but he knew that Christ was coming, the Messiah, who is going to
be our righteousness. And he looked to him that was
to come. And he preached Christ for 120 years. He preached God's
holiness, God's justice, God's wrath, God's anger against sin.
And yet he preached God's mercy, God's love, God's grace, God's
forgiveness of sin, God's salvation, one way. One way. He told everyone, it doesn't
matter what the world is saying about God, it's one way. There's
one Lord, there's one faith, there's one way to escape this
wrath of God, and it's going to be in this ark. And if you're
not in this ark on that day, You're going to be swept away.
That only the love of God is in this ark. Now, come! Don't
you think he said that? Come! Everyone that came by out
of curiosity, what are you doing? No, I'm building an ark because
God is holy. God is angry, but God is merciful. He's told us of this ark which
represents the Christ to come. Now, neighbor Jim, come on now. Get in this ark. No one. God's not that open. I believe there's other ways.
There's other faiths. No one. There's other ways over
here. They're sincere. You mean to
tell me these people over here have never heard of this ark
that God's going to destroy? Oh, they've heard of that. 120
years. They've heard. They've heard all over the world. They've heard. Alright? Noah suffered persecution
for that. You know it? And his sons, and
their wives, and his wife. You believe that nonsense? That
God is angry and going to destroy this world. Do you really believe
that? That's what they said to Noah, didn't they? Alright, the
hardest time of all was after 120 years was over. And the ark
was finished. And rather than I'm here to tell
you salvation's finished, Jesus Christ did the work of salvation. It's finished. It just remains
to be seen who's found in Him. And I'll tell you right away
who's going to be found in Him. Those whom He chose and called.
That's who was found in that ark. Nevertheless, the door of
that ark was open for seven days. Seven days, the door of that
ark was open. Come! Come! Whosoever will, come! And they would not come. The door was open. Whosoever
wanted to come in could have come in, couldn't they? What's
the problem? They didn't want to. Our Lord said this when He stood
on this earth. He said to a multitude, You will
not come unto me, but you lie and lie. But he said this, All
that the Father giveth me shall come unto me. Now brethren, if
you've come to Christ, and if you keep coming to Christ, I'm
here to tell you, you may be able to buy a father to Christ.
Or you wouldn't have come. If you're found in Christ in
that day, it's because God chose you. He gets the glory. Alright? Everybody in that hour, eight
souls. The door's open. And that last seven days, can
you imagine how tough that was? Sun shining, not a drop of rain
falling, not a cloud in the sky. And they're all sitting in that
ark, waiting, waiting. Hard to do that, waiting. Hardest time of their life. There's the door. Jim, will you
go? The door's open. Go on out. Chim, Japheth, Ham, their wives,
Mrs. Chim. Huh? Mrs. Japheth? There's the door. Leave, if you can. And they all,
to a man, to a woman, said, we're not going anywhere. We'll stay
right here. Why? And give it a state. We believe. Like Simon Peter
said, we believe and are sure of the power of Christ. That
this is the truth. This is the gospel. And we're
not going anywhere. We're going to be right here
until He comes. Until that door closes. And Christ
said through Paul in Colossians, He said, Whether you be partakers,
if you be not moved away, but are grounded and settled.
And then one day, bless God, it's true. One day, the door
of that ark closed. And it was over. It was over. But I'm saying,
to those who, to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, to establish
you and comfort you concerning your faith. Do you believe? Do
you believe? Will you go away? What's your
answer to that? To whom shall we go? This is
life to me. Christ is my life. Bless God
you have this faith, this faith. All right, let's sing in closing,
what, 224? 224. 224, which says, I know whom I have believed and
persuaded he is able to keep that which I have committed unto
him against that day. 224. Let's stand and sing. I know not why God's wondrous
grace to me He hath made known, nor why unworthy Christ in love
redeemed me for His own. But I know whom I have believed
and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I committed
unto Him against that day. I know not how this saving faith
to me He did impart, nor how He learned me.
