It enables us to do that, doesn't
it? Not very often. Most of the time in vain we tune
our formal songs, don't we? But sometimes, sometimes we are
able to sing and understand what we singeth and singeth from the
heart. That's when you will. Hebrews
11. We now come to the last of this
three-part study on faith. Examples of faith found here
in Hebrews 11. Scriptures are full of stories
of men and women and young people just like us. As we've noted, and need to keep
in mind, that we might miss a blessing if we
don't look at the actual story. We need to see Christ. We need
to see Christ. That's why it was written. That's
the principal reason, chief reason. Like the story we just saw in
the Bible study. Somebody's coming. That's the
end. And we need to see Christ. He's
the object of our faith. That's where all this began in
Hebrews 1. But we miss a blessing if we
see that these are real people, real men and women, real young
people just like us, and real stories of how they
lived, how they walked and talked, and how they died by faith. That's how we live. We live by
faith. We live by faith. We've studied Hebrews 11 more
than any other chapter together. Many, many, many times. This
is the chapter on faith. You want to know something about
faith, turn to Hebrews 11. Some men have called this the
Hall of Faith. Hall of Faith. God Almighty wrote
this. Didn't it? God commends faith. Faith honors God. Faith takes
God at His Word. Faith, Barbara, proves God. Yeah,
faith. God gives it. It honors Him. It's the gift of God for people
to do what they did. Nobody can do that but God. With man it's impossible, not
with God. This proves God's faithfulness.
Faith. And God commends those who honor
Him. God honors those who honor His
Son, doesn't He? God wrote this whole chapter.
about these loved ones of his, his beloved. I love that story
of Stephen, how that the Lord who is seated at the right hand
of the majesty on high, isn't it? He's seated right now. And when Stephen was stoned,
it says Stephen looked up and he said, I saw the Lord standing. I love that. The Lord is not
unfaithful to forget your works of righteousness and labor of
love. That's what Paul wrote. And God writes this hall of faith.
It brings Him honor. It brings Him glory. The glory
of His power. The glory of His Spirit. And
He honors His loved ones as you do. As you do. Faith, it says in verse 1, is
the substance of things hoped for. What do we hope for? Well, eternal life. That's the
things. This is not talking about material
things. That's not the things. The things we hope
for, that faith looks for, is mercy. These are our great need. Mercy, grace. We want God to
love us, don't we? God's angry with the wicked every
day. The wrath of God abides upon some. I want God to love
me. Love, pardon. I need pardon. I need peace. I need wisdom. I want to go to heaven. A city. Don't you? They look for a city where God
dwells. I want to live with God. I want eternal life. Don't you?
Well, faith is the substance of the confidence of these things
hoped for. How can we believe, how can we
have any confidence that we'll have these things? Faith. Look
into Christ. Look into our God. Faith is the
evidence, it says, of things not seen. Evidence. Proof. Faith
is a proof. Scripture says, he that believeth
on the Son hath life. That's why he believeth. You see, faith doesn't give life,
it's proof of life. Which comes first, when little
old Elizabeth I'm going to have a hard time saying it. Olivia
Elizabeth. I love the name. Which came first? Her realization
she was born? Or, I mean, which came first? Life? Or was she alive when she
found out about it? Life happened when that seed
was sown, when conception began. She was passive in it. Well,
she didn't exist. But her father and mother. And
then now she's born into this world. Boy, I have mixed emotions
about that. Oh boy. Man is born a woman's
a few days and full of trouble. And as soon as she came out,
she left the warm, cozy confines of the womb. And bam, here she
is out in this cold, cruel world, warm and wet. And then it comes
out, no wonder they start crying. But faith is the proof of life. Faith is proof. God has given
life. And it goes on in verse 2, the
elders, talking about these that went before, obtained a good
report. That is, they gave good evidence
that they knew God. That God loved them, knew them,
revealed Himself to them. They gave evidence that they
knew and believed God. They gave evidence. A good report.
A good report. Now he begins, through faith. Through faith we understand that
the worlds were framed by the Word of God. So that things which
are seen were not made of things which do appear. Through this
God-given faith, we understand that God made everything. This is where he begins. Why?
Because that's where everything began. He's going to talk about
faith. Where does faith begin? Verse
6 says, He that cometh to God must believe he is. The first
thing we know and believe and understand, God teaches They
will all be taught of God. The first thing we understand
by this faith is God is our Creator. God created all things. In Him
we live and move and have our being, that God Almighty is our
Creator, therefore He's our Owner, therefore He's our Judge, therefore
we answer to Him. We live and move and have our
being, therefore it should cause us to fear Him. You see why He
began? He began here because in the
beginning, God. And so it is with salvation.
It's that way with creation. God spoke, and it happened. Don't understand it, but I believe
it. And the same thing with salvation.
God spoke and it happened. So that's where it all began.
That's it. That's where faith began. Faith begins where it
all began. In the beginning, God. Alright,
now he gives some examples of this faith. Verse 4, by faith
able. It begins with able because Adam
and Eve When they were created, they didn't live by faith, did they? They ended up having
to. But they walked and talked with
the Lord by sight, didn't they? It begins with Abel, because
Abel is a first martyr. The first one who dies. It says,
these all died by faith. Abel is the first one to die.
And it was over the truth. Now, Adam and Eve told both of
their sons, Cain and Abel, told both of their sons the story
of where do you think they began? Where do you think Adam and Eve
began when they began to talk to their son? Creation. Who God is. Creation. Then they told their sons about
the fall. They told them both what happened
in the garden And they told them both, Abel and Cain. Adam and Eve told Cain and Abel
what God told them in that garden about a woman's seed. And they declared Christ unto
them, the coming Redeemer, the coming Messiah, the coming Substitute,
the coming Deliverer, the second Adam. Yeah, they did. Yes, they
did. Adam lived 930 years. You think he knew something?
You think he learned the truth? Sure he did. He was the brightest,
wisest man that ever lived. Until Solomon. Wasn't he? Oh, he knew. God taught
him. And he taught his sons. Told
them where all things came from, why all things are the way they
are. Those thorns. Cane that you're getting pierced
by in the garden. All this harp. Sin. Able. Blood and all that. Wolves. Sin. And they told them,
boys, there's one way. God has told us there's one way
to come to Him. the blood, the blood of an innocent
substitute, sacrificed. And they told him, them, this
blood, this lamb was Christ. Again, the Messiah. They both
heard this, didn't they? They both heard this. Well, Abel,
by the grace of God, why did Abel believe and Cain didn't? Abel believed The word he heard
from his parents, the word of God. The Lord was speaking, still
speaking. I believe he was still speaking
maybe to Abel. He believed. Why did he believe?
Well, it wasn't of himself. It was a gift of God. It was
the working of God. Because Cain didn't believe.
Why didn't Cain believe? God didn't give him that. And Abel brought this blood and
his brother, and he told his brother, God rejected Cain. You know the story. All religions are found under
these two sons right here, Cain and Abel. Those who try to come
to God and appease Him and please Him by what they do and what
they are will be rejected. That's what Cain did. And Abel
over here brought what God demanded, what God provided, the lamb,
blood, Christ. Abel believed God, what God said. He didn't understand. What's
this blood? He might not have understood. Okay, he brought
it. Did he understand? And he brought
it. To religion. Well, Cain, Abel
told his brother Cain this. Why are you? Don't don't get
mad. This is just the truth. And God
told him, if you do well, won't you be accepted? Meaning? By faith. Bring the blood. This is the work of God. Don't you be accepted? And Cain
got mad at his brother for telling him the truth. Cain got mad at
God, so he was mad at Because God didn't accept his good works. And Cain rose up and killed his
brother. The first death on planet earth,
the first human death, was because of religion. It's because one
man told his brother the truth about God. And he didn't like
it. And he killed him. Anybody in
here like Abel? Anybody? Huh? Did somebody hate
you for the truth's sake? Doesn't it astound you that people
get mad at you for just saying what God's Word says? Huh? I don't think I can ever get
over it. I wonder why, why all I'm trying to do, all we're trying
to do is just glorify God, give God all the glory. Isn't it?
Huh? No ulterior motive. All we're trying to do is lift
Christ up to get all the glory, isn't it? Isn't it? Isn't it?
That's all we're trying to do here. Why do people get mad?
All we're trying to do is say what
God's Word says, Roy. That's all we're trying to do,
isn't it? Just quote them what God's Word
says and watch them get mad at you. Well, who makes us the different? Faith is not of yourself, Roy.
Were it not for the grace of God, you'd hate this message
too. But God, who is rich in mercy and for His great love,
wherewith He loved Roy Baldwin, chose him, called him by His
grace, gave him a heart to believe that love is true. Enoch, verse 5. By faith, Enoch. Enoch was translated. That means
he didn't die. Enoch right here represents every
believer, actually. That he should not see death. Enoch lived. Now, it says he
pleased God. Over in chapter 5 of Genesis
is where the story is. Enoch, it says, walked with God.
He walked by faith. Enoch walked with God. Enoch
lived and worked in a wicked world. It's right before the
flood. Chapter 5 in Genesis is right
before the flood. God begins to describe the world
at that time, how bad it was. The wickedness of man was on
the evil continually. Enoch lived and worked in that
wicked world. But Enoch walked with God. Why? How? How? This one man and
so many. Wicked is one man among many,
God. God, gift of God. He believed
God. Enoch believed God. He didn't
have a copy of Scripture. Scripture what? None of it was
written yet. That's why God was still speaking.
That's why God was still speaking. And Enoch walked with God. He believed God. He loved God.
He spoke to God. God spoke to him. He worshipped
God. Have you ever thought about this? This is why I said what
I said in the beginning. Enoch worshipped God with Adam. He lived with Adam. They all worshipped God. Faith
comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. Somebody got
up and preached to him. Adam and Eve got together. Enoch
got together. Seth, Jared, Methuselah. He was around. Around a long
time. Methuselah. They all got together.
They were located in the same general area. They got together
and worshipped, didn't they? Enoch, that was a highlight of his week.
You know it was. Don't you, Enoch? It was a highlight
of his week. Somebody preached. They prayed.
Sang. Worship God. Enoch had a large
family. He lived 365 years, Enoch. How many children would you have
in 300 and some years of childbearing? One time we thought of the horror
of this, that Enoch could have had about 25 teenagers in his
house at one time. Truly. Maybe a hundred. You think you've got problems? Laura, I'm sorry, but that's
just the way it is. I'm not saying you're causing
trouble. Some do. I did. I did. That was a heartache to my parents. They could have had a hundred
of them. Right? How'd they survive? My thing. Lord, help. I can't do this. Give me wisdom
from above. He believed God. He had a large
family. How many jobs? Oh, Patrick worked
so hard to provide for his family, didn't he? Works two jobs. That's
what man's supposed to do. That's what a man's supposed
to do. In the very beginning, God said, you're going to get
your bread by sweat. So that's what you're supposed
to do until you die. Work hard. How many jobs do you reckon Enoch
had to hold down? Worked hard. Large family, lived
in an evil world. It vexed his righteous soul.
All that he saw around him vexed him. And he was hoping, and he was
praying, and he was wishing, and he was wanting, and he was
waiting for the day to get out. And one day he walked out of
his house and walked into glory. And the same thing, John Cheesler,
the same thing is going to happen to you. Yes, sir. That's right. Everybody that walks with God
will not die. God said so. Christ said so. You're not going to die. You're
going to be translated. Translated. That word is metamorphosis. Change. Scripture says, Oh, I'll
wait till my change comes. In a moment, a twinkling of eye,
we'll all be changed. He that believeth and believeth
in me, Barbara, shall never die, Christ said, who can't lie. Believest
thou this?" We may not go to heaven on a
chariot like Elijah, but chariots are coming. His angels are coming. Oh yeah. This is not a fairy
tale. This is the Word of God Almighty. He that liveth, this is Christ's
Word, shall never die." He never did say when his beloved was
dead, he said, they're sleeping. Don't fear sleep. We fear death, don't we? Our
Lord delivers us from this bondage, this fear of death. Enoch said,
I want out. God said, okay. One day. Now, we, you know, Henry,
75, 77 years, oh, it's time, isn't it? It's time. I want,
my dad's 81, he wants to go so bad. But Enoch lived 365 years in
the same world. How did he survive? He lived
by faith. The same grace undergirded him
for another 280 years. Think you could live another
280 years, Brother Henry? Yes, you could, by the grace
of God. Enoch proved it. His grace is
sufficient. My father-in-law was no stranger
to trial. Went through some horrible trials.
We were talking about great, horrible trials. One time he
said, I don't think I can take any more. He did. He did. God's grace is sufficient. It's sufficient. God took him. Noah. Look at the next one. Noah.
I'm going to really have to hurry. I knew this would happen. We've
been 18 years studying this chapter. What makes me think I'm going
to... Don't worry, I'm not going to deal with every one, alright?
Kids, nobody's ever died in one of our services. Really. Noah, I thought I had when I
was young. I thought I was going to die.
Noah, Noah, look at this. This is great. Verse 7, by faith
Noah being warned of God. See, this is what God does to
all his children. He just doesn't go, love you,
love you, that's all good, good, good. It's going to be all just
wonderful. God is a wonderful, but no, no. Is that what you
do to your children? Then you're treating them wrong. God's law has ten commandments
in it. Most of them are, thou shalt
not. Warnings. Don't we, our children,
as soon as they come out, we say, no, no. What are we doing,
Melanie? Warning them. If they're not
warned, they're going to destroy themselves, or somebody's going
to destroy them, or whatever. Somebody's going to kidnap one.
Warn them, don't warn them. This is what God, our faithful
Father, does to all His children. Warns us. Paul said, I cease
not to warn you day and night with tears. Warn. It's uncomfortable, isn't it?
We don't like to listen to stories like we did this morning, do
we? It makes us uncomfortable. It
ought to make us real thankful. that God would open our eyes
so as not to be praying. Noah being warned of God. And it says, being warned of
God, he moved with fear. Warned of God. Buddy, if God
warns you, you'll move. People ignorantly say this of
their little God. They say, God's trying to tell
me something. God doesn't try anything. God has never made an attempt
at anything. If God has purpose to tell you
something, you will be told. If God speaks, there's a psalm
that talks about the voice of the Lord. The voice of the Lord
is powerful. What does it say? It makes the
hens to calve. It makes the trees to uproot. It makes the earth to quake.
God's voice? God's trying to tell me something.
Well, your God, their God, not your God. Their God may be trying
to tell them something. When our God speaks, we hear
it. My sheep shall hear my voice."
You heard that, didn't you? How much more God? Huh? The God of the Bible doesn't
try anything. Christ didn't come down to try
to save anybody. If that's the Savior you have,
you don't have one. Our God is God. Enoch's God was
God. Noah's God was God. That's what
old Pharaoh had to finally admit, wasn't it? Moses, God is God. Our God, we made Him. Noah was
warned of God and moved with fear. Look at it. He moved with
fear and prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by the which
he condemned the world, became heir of the righteousness which
is by faith. Noah believed God. What was the
first thing he believed about God? Lord, he believed that God
was angry. Am I right, Dan? Did God tell him that he loved
everybody? Noah, I've come to tell you that
I love the whole world, but they just won't let me be their God,
and I'm so disciplined. Huh? Is that what God said to
Noah? Love casts out fear. He moved with fear. He's warned
of God. What? I'm angry with this world
and I'm going to destroy it. Make an arc, but I'm merciful
and I'm gracious and you found grace in my eyes. Noah, Noah,
Teresa, I'm angry with this world every day and I'm going to destroy
it. Teresa, there's an arc. And that ark is Christ Jesus
the Lord, the sinner's only refuge when the overflowing scourge
of God's wrath comes nigh. If you're in the Christ, it will
not come nigh you. Teresa, get your house in the
ark. There she is. Good. She's sitting there. Noah moved with fear. He had
his children. He had Shem, Ham, and Japheth when they were five
years old. Boys, get up. I don't want to get up. Get up. We're going to go work on the
ark. I don't believe that. I do. Huh? It's a real man. It's a
real story. Get up, son. We're going to work
on the ark today. God is angry. He said, this is
it. We're going to do what God tells
us to do. God commandeth all men everywhere to repent. That
means our children. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
and thou shalt be saved. I don't want, I don't like this.
Get up! Is this serious or what? Just
a little story time? No sir. Life or death for our
children and us. That it might be well with us
and our children. These words are not vain, they're
our life. Every day, 120 years, Noah with
a pound of his hammer, judgment's coming. Judgment's coming. And
he had his family there. That's a man that believes God,
isn't it? He had his family there. And it says, by faith he prepared
an ark. That ark is Christ's. By which
he condemned the world. He condemned the world. Sons,
Tim, Ham, Japheth, God is not happy. God does not love everyone.
No, He does not. God is angry. God is going to
destroy this world. But God is merciful. But God
is gracious. But God is love. God does love. And those whom He loves, He saves.
That's why God came to us and told us this wonderful... If
He was going to destroy us, He wouldn't have told us these things.
He wouldn't have showed us these things. Like old Manoah. Boys, God is love, but He's only
love if we're in that ark. That ark is Christ. Christ is a refuge. Christ is
the center's Savior. And He told His family, and He
had them with Him while He worked on that ark. And He condemned
the world, telling all that came in contact with Him, There's
hope, there's only hope in one. Noah found grace. Why did Noah
believe? He found grace. What's the chief
grace? What's the great grace? What's
the faith? The gift of God. He believed
God, believed Christ, told his family, got in the ark. The toughest
time of all, dear Bruce, the last seven days. The last seven
days. The whole world was laughing
at him. Anybody here like Noah? I mean,
Noah's in here? Abraham. By faith, Abraham called
to go out. What was Abraham called to do,
Vicki? Go out. Save yourselves from this untoward
generation, Scripture says. Go out. We have here no continuing
city. Why do trials come? He's bringing
you out. bringing it out of you, the love
for these things, and they're in there. Oh, they're in there.
God's got to get them out. Got to get us out. Christ said
they are not of this world, mine. Father, I pray not that thou
should take them out right now. They have a purpose for them
here. They have a purpose. But keep
them from it. Save them from it. And when God
Almighty went to get Israel, what was He doing with Israel?
Taking them out of Egypt. Bringing them up and out of that
land. How did He do it? What did it
take? Huh? Their cooperation? A strong arm. Isn't that what it said? I love
that. He brought them out with a strong arm. Like old Lot. He's coming out. Oh, my. Coming out. Abraham, when he was called.
Here's another example of an effectual call. Noah, when he
was warned, he was warned. Abraham, when he was called,
he was 75 years old, an idolater. He had a former religion. He
had his thoughts about God, didn't know the living and true God,
didn't know God. Thought he did. He was sincere. 75 years he was
devout with his father and mother in a pagan land, Abraham, heir
of the cow duke. But God chose him, loved him,
called him out, said, you're coming with me. You're not going
to perish with them, you're going to live with me. You're coming
out. Where am I going? Don't worry about that. You just
follow me." He came out, not knowing where he was going, but
knowing who called him. Not knowing when he'd get there,
but knowing who called him. God called him out, out of the
world. Abraham believed God, believed Christ, Abraham and
Sarah. The story of Sarah, his wife.
They lived as strangers and pilgrims looking for a city whose builder
that has foundation that will not be moved. Whose builder and
maker is God. You with me? Anybody like Abraham and Sarah
in here? Any husbands and wives? And it says all these died in
faith. It is vital how we live in it.
Live by faith. The just shall live by faith.
What's even more important is to die that way. Die by faith. These all died
in faith. All but Enoch, that is. They
all died believing God, looking to Christ. And it says in verse
13 here, this chapter, it says they received the promises What
are the promises? The Word of God. That's what
you've heard this morning. The Word of God. Received it. They
believed it. God's Word. Loved it. They were
persuaded. Verse 13. They were persuaded.
I can't persuade anybody of anything. You know, people want me to talk
to this person, talk to that person. And I want to talk to
a different person. There are times when I want to
talk to them. I can't persuade anybody. Who does? The same one that took
this young rebel one day, Kelly, and persuaded him. Infectually. Once persuaded, I was persuaded. And here I am. To stay, I believe, I hope. Persuaded. They were all persuaded. Who
persuaded Abraham? 75-year-old man. God did. Who
persuaded Noah? God did. Who persuaded Paul,
a 40-some-year-old idolater, self-righteous Pharisee? Who
persuaded him? Paul said, I know whom I have believed and am persuaded. Christ did. Embraced, verse 13. Embraced. Laid hold on. Not only persuaded,
but do you love this? Love the truth? Not only just
persuaded, yeah, I believe that, but, oh, this is my hope, this
is my, oh, my life, oh. Huh? That's what embrace, something
embrace, I mean, hug. Somebody in here, the hugger,
there's a lot of huggers in here. But somebody in particular that
squeezes you like a bear. And it ain't a man, it's one
of these women. You know you've been hugged by
this person. That's what embraced me. My daughter,
when she was a little baby, I took her into a Catholic building up in Detroit. I don't know why. I was too young
to know better. Tourist place. Everybody goes and says, I won't
do it now. I want to see those idol houses. No, sir. Brother Walter Gruber
is going down to Mexico. The oldest so-called church house
in North America. is on that soil there, downtown
Merida, and it's a Catholic idol place, and Walter will not set
foot anywhere near that place. He doesn't want to be seen near
there, wisely. But you know, all us dumb tourists
parade through there, look, ooh, look, ooh, look, ooh. We ought
to be going, That's what Christ did. He took
a whip. Anyway, where was I? Why did
I say that? Oh, my daughter. When she was
really young, about maybe a year and a half old, two years old,
she was with us. She's a little older than that
one. Detroit, Michigan is where I was. Three? Young. We agree on most things all our
lives, Anyway, I took her in this place and it was dark and
candles and gargoyles. Why? These devilish looking creatures
all over the wall. Because that's what it's all
about. And all these gargoyles, it's dark and damp and the eerie
sound. And my daughter just grabbed
ahold of my neck. I said, let's get out of here.
Went out of that dark place into the sunshine. And she was still
embracing me. Daddy, don't let me down in that
evil place. And that's what the believer
does when they hear this Gospel. Lord, don't let me go. Don't let me die in this evil
place. embraced and confessed that they're
strangers and pilgrims seeking another country. If they'd have
been mindful of it, they'd have come out. But they weren't. They
were looking for another place, a better country, a heavenly
country. And God's not ashamed to call
them. Do you notice that? Did you notice that? What it
says here? God is not ashamed to be called their God. My, my. Moses. Moses. What about
Moses? Oh, we don't have enough time.
We've come to years. Forty years old. Moses. Let's
go on down real quickly. Chapter 12, verse 1 says, seeing
we're encompassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses.
My, my. People just like us. Just like
us. Same world. Same world, same
trials, same afflictions, same God, same faith. Same faith. And it says, let us lay aside
every weight, hindrance. A lot of things are a hindrance
to the spiritual. They'd be done with it. And the
sin which doth so easily beset us. Each of us have little besetting
sins, but that's not what that's talking about. The sin. The sin
that so easily besets us. What so easily comes over us,
all of us, all believers? Unbelief. Unbelief. We walk by faith, not by sight.
Well, where does faith come from? Why is this so important? By the Word. If we don't hear
the word, if we really don't hear the word, we won't have
salvation. If we don't hear the word at every opportunity and
really hear the word, we need saving out of the little things.
You understand? If we don't, we won't grow strong,
be weak in the faith. Weak in the faith. Every little
thing will just, not big things, but little things Tear us all to pieces. Have faith. Faith cometh by hearing. This
sin that so easily beset us, run. We notice Wednesday night,
it says run with patience. We walk by faith, but here it
says run. Run. And all in this book, it
says today is the day of salvation. Well, I had a more convenient
time. Don't say that. Run. Run with patience. The race set before, look into
Christ. And it goes on to say, consider Him. Verse 3, consider
Him. You know, back earlier in Hebrews, it said,
let's consider the apostle and high priest of our profession,
Christ. And it goes on to tell about
our great high priest, chapters 5 through 10 and more. Our great high priest, consider
him, keep in mind, look to him and all that. But here it says,
looking unto Jesus, doesn't it? It says, consider him who endured
such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be
weary in your own mind. Jesus, the man. Why does it say
that? Talk about the great Lord, starts
in chapter 1, talking about Him who is God. Made a little lower
than the angel for the suffering of death, Jesus. But here it
says, looking unto Jesus. Do you know the answer? It said, consider Him who endured.
How? How did the man, Jesus, live on planet earth? He's the greatest example of
all. We look to him as our substitute. We also look to him as our example.
The greatest example of all, of any man who ever lived, was
Jesus. You know, I hate to say that
name without his title. I really do. The Lord Jesus. But he said, looking unto Jesus.
There's a man who didn't have a roof over his head. Ever. Ever. Didn't own any of that. Ever. What if the stock market, well,
the stock market fails? I won't lose my stock, see, I
don't have any. And everything else will fall, though. That's
how fragile this whole thing is. What if I lose my home? You just read it with me, Mary,
didn't you? What will happen to my children? Same one who's
taking care of them now. But we will go hungry. No, no,
no, we won't. Haven't you read Psalm 37? David
said, I've never seen the righteous forsaken or deceived. Never. Well, what if, what if what?
Just name something. Didn't we read anything that
could happen to somebody happen? What if, what if, what if, what
if what? These all live by faith. God
is faithful, you see. That's what this is all about.
God is faithful. True. And we believe Him. Trust Him. He'll not let you
down. Never has, never will. And they
all died in faith. Where are they now? They're where He said they would
be. Weak faith. Weak faith? He goes on, Nancy,
to say, strengthen the weak hands and the feeble knees. Lift them
up. Weak faith, either strong, bear the infirmities of the weak.
Weak faith? Yeah, but she was in such trouble and trouble and
turmoil and confused. So am I. Huh? Oh, but the world was such a
trial to her. So is to me too. Paul said, who's weak and I'm
not weak? Who's strong? I believe she believed Christ.
Then count on it. She's with Him. He had His Word
on her. You can't lie. Now, is that good
news? And that's what I'm endeavoring to do this morning. Glorify God.
Comfort the sheep. Build you up on this most holy
faith. Come on. I'm exhorting you. So much more
as we see the day approaching. Okay, let's sing a closing hymn,
number 268. I could think of no better than
this. How firm a foundation, ye saints
of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent Word. 268. Let's sing a few verses
of this. 268. I found
