third verse. Always kind of anxious to get
to the message. But perhaps if we'd sing one
verse that one should be the only one we say. And when I think. This is God's chief greatness
in the God his son not sparing sent him to die I scarce can
take it in that on the cross my burden. gladly bearing, he
bled and died to take away my sin. My God, how great thou art. Okay, go back with me to Matthew
chapter six. Matthew six. You've heard me
quote my pastor so many times by saying that the scriptures
are full of promises Lest we despair. Promises to keep us
from worrying and fretting. Promises to dispel our unbelief
and to get rid of anxious or troubled thoughts. Promises,
promises, promises. Precious promises, Peter said. Precious promises. And yet scriptures
are full of warnings to warnings that we presume that we don't
fear God as we take these things for granted don't call on God. And the Lord. Gives both in this. Sermon on the Mount to his disciples. Full of warnings to them and
yet and us and full of blessed promises. He warns us, warns
them and us, against worldly cares. That's the general theme
here. And he promises us of our Father,
if God is our Father. He promises us that the Father
will take care of us. All right, look at verse, let's
begin in verse 24. He said, Now no man can serve
two masters, either he will hate the one and love the other, or
else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot
serve God and mammon. Now, here's just the fact of
the matter. Our Lord gives a fact here. One cannot serve two masters. He has one master or the other. It cannot be both. It cannot
be. It's impossible. God is our God,
Christ is our master or something or someone else is. It cannot,
the heart cannot be set on two things. Cannot, it's impossible
for the heart to be set on things above and at the same time things
on the earth. I hope you read the article.
better than I can put it, so I'm going to read it to you.
OK, in case you didn't, this is put best I've ever heard. He says these two masters, what
the orders that they give are diametrically opposed. They're
opposite the two orders. The one that is our God, God's
word commands us to walk by faith. The other. The world, the flesh
says by sight, walk by sight. Only believe what you see. The
one, our Lord and Master, says, Be humble. The other says, Be
proud. Our Lord says, Set your affection
on things above. The world, flesh says, Grab all
the gusto here you can get. The one, our Lord, says, The
things that are unseen, that is, are eternal. The things that
are unseen are eternal. They last. They're the only things
that do. But the world says, no, this is all there is, this
is all, this is it, this is what it's all about. The one, our Lord says, have
your conversation, that is, be thinking about, talking about,
pursuing in heaven, things in heaven. The other says, no, here,
this is it, the earth, the dust. The one, our Lord says, be careful
for nothing, that it don't be overly anxious. About full of
care for anything, the other says, you better take care of
what you got, you better. You better be worrying about
a lot to worry about. The one our Lord says, be content
with such things as you have, the other says. Go for. The one our Lord says, be ready
to distribute. Distribute, the other says, you
better save up. One, our Lord says, look on things
of others. Think about the things of others.
The world, the flesh says, you better look out for yourself.
Our Lord says, seek your happiness in the Creator. The world, the flesh, the devil
says, seek your happiness here in the creature, things that
are made. Is it not plain, he says? That
there's no serving two masters, their orders are totally different.
They tell us to do the opposite. And so our Lord says, if you
love the one, you have to hate the other. If you believe the
one, you have to, you can't believe the other, you can't believe
both. If you cleave to the one, this
is what I believe, this is what I'm going to hold to, this is
what I'm going after, this is where I'm going to stake my claim,
my life and so forth, then you renounce the other. Right, you cannot serve God and
man. And he goes on to say, to serve
mammon, that is, to lay up treasures on earth, is to make these things
present, sensible, that is, what you see with the eyes, feel,
hear, taste, touch, and all that, this worldly thing, to make these
things the great subject of your thoughts and the object of your
affection. But to serve God, lay up treasures in heaven, is
to make things divine, heavenly, things of God, Scripture calls
them, the subject of our thoughts and the great object of our affections.
Set your affections, Scripture says, on things above, where
Christ sits. And so these two things are incompatible,
totally incompatible. Scripture calls a covetous man
an idolater. He doesn't have God, he doesn't
know God. His God is his belligerent. Scripture says, God says the
friendship of the world is enmity with God. God is angry with the
world. God is going to destroy the world. Not a friend to it
at all. And whosoever will be a friend
of the world must be an enemy of God. Commentary on what our Lord you
say that that's better than I. Diametrically you cannot. Cannot serve it's impossible. Over in Psalm 10, you don't have
to turn, but in Psalm 10, verse 4, it talks about the wicked.
Now, the wicked, and the scriptures, talks a great deal about the
wicked. And the wicked aren't necessarily, aren't only people
that are immoral and outwardly perverted and corrupt and violent
and filthy and so forth. But the wicked. Is anybody. Who doesn't love God. Who doesn't know and they love
the Lord Jesus Christ. Scripture says cursed is any
man that love of he that love if not the Lord Jesus Christ
let him be a curse. That person is wicked to the
Lord. And he said even their plowing their hard work out in
the field that plow in their garden and that is Iniquity,
evil in the sight of the Lord. Because they don't acknowledge
God for what they have. Psalm 10, I was going to quote
it. Psalm 10 verse 4 says, God is
not in all their thoughts. The wicked. God is not in all
their thoughts. Meaning that they have a lot
of thoughts. They think about a lot of things.
But God's not one of them. My wife and I last night were
watching something and a person was miraculously, persons were
miraculously healed and so forth of this and that and the other
and God's name was never mentioned. God was not ever mentioned. God
is not in all their thoughts. That's the wicked. They don't
think about God. Think about that, but you know,
the opposite is true of God's people. The opposite is true, God is
in all their thoughts. When through the woods and forest
glade I wander, I see the birds sing sweetly in the tree. From
lofty mountain grandeur I see the brook and feel the gentle
breeze. I then sings my soul, my God. That's what salvation is to make
a human being conscious of his creator. That they might know
this. And loving. And that one and
that God came down here and why. That's salvation. Well. Christ is that this is just the
fact that Christ cannot serve God. Man can't do it's impossible. One loves one and hates the other
or hates one loves the other. It cannot be any other way. God
Christ is a person's first love. The one they desire to be with.
The one they desire to know better than the one they want to spend
eternity with or he's not. It's just waiting. Christ and
the believer are called the husband and wife. Is it Isaiah 54, thy
maker is thy husband? I think that's it. Christ and
his people are called the groom, the bridegroom, and his bride.
Christ and his church, the head and his bride, husband and wife. To be truly married, and I'm
not a novice at marriage, to be truly married A husband and
wife are truly married. They truly love each other, and
how you know it is they love to be with each other. Because they've left everything
and everyone to be with each other. How long? All the time.
Now, being sinners that we are, there are times when we absolutely
get on one another's nerves. You can't stand to be apart for
too long. But you love each other. You're married. Right? You're married. You love each
other and you think of each other. Rarely a day goes by that you
don't think of one another constantly. This is a perfect illustration.
of the believer in Christ. Perfect. Our Lord is the one
who said it. This is a great mystery, Christ
and his church. Someone who's married, people
who are married, they order their life around each other. Don't they? I mean, I never, you men know this well,
when you call me and ask me to do something or whatever, I don't
just say, yeah, I'll be there. And you don't either, do you?
You can sell your money. You don't go anywhere you don't
do anything you can't you don't consider yourself first you don't.
You order your life. You order everything around your
life with them also in mind don't you. You don't do anything without
the other in mind. This is a perfect illustration
of Christ and his church. We are married to another. A true believer is married to
Christ. They don't order worship around their lives. They order their lives around
worship. It is a new nature. It's not second nature. It's
new nature. They love the Lord and they can't
imagine not being with him and being with his people. It's just a fact. You can't serve. Who do they serve? God is their
master. Christ is their master. He is
whom they serve. They are the bride. He is the
husband. They serve him. They love him.
They forsake all others to be with him. That's the way it is.
That's the way it is. It is so or it's not. It is so
or it's not. We do, oh brother, Jack and I
was Maurice Montgomery, he said, We do what we want to do. He
was talking to a person who claimed to be a believer and yet seldom
in the house of worship. And he said to that person that
was making up all sorts of excuses, he said, Well, we do exactly
what we want to do. And that person hung their head
and said, Yeah, Someone who loves someone goes
home because they love them and want to be with them. It's a
fact. You cannot serve God and man. You love the one or hate the
other. There's no middle ground. There's no indifference. You're
madly in love with God, with Christ, the gospel. No one's
not. And I advise anyone who is that
there are doubts. Go home and get in your closet
and settle the matter. Settle the matter. All right. Therefore, verse 25. Therefore,
I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what you shall
eat or what you shall drink, nor yet for your body what you
shall put on. Is not the life more than meat,
the body than raiment? If this is so, to believers,
to lovers of Christ, if he is our life, if he is our Heavenly
Father, if he is our God, if Christ is who he says he is,
and he is, then we should not be filled with anxious thoughts
and worldly cares about such insignificant and trivial things. such as food and rain, but we
should not be taken up with careful. What is careful mean? It says,
or you take no thought. What he means there is careful.
Over in Philippians 4, it says this. He says, be careful for
nothing. The apostle saying what the Lord
said, yet more understandingly, be careful. I'll be full of care. That's what the Lord means we
should take no thought anxious worry. Be careful be full of
care for nothing. Nothing. And everything by prayer
and supplication with Thanksgiving let your request be made known
to God be careful the Lord is not prohibiting prohibiting us
from. Making any sort of plan. A man
would be a fool if he didn't sit down, even intending to build
a building or do whatever, and count the cost and so forth,
make some preparation. The Lord himself taught that.
What he's saying here is, do not be full of care or constant
anxious thoughts. Don't be taken up with always
thinking about things, things. God is truly one's life. Christ
is our life. are not life. Is not the life, he said, verse
25, is not the life. The life. He called it life more
abundant. Animals live, don't they? Animals
have life, don't they? Dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs. Pigs have life, don't they? Pigs,
well, pigs eat and they really live it up, don't they? Do you ever look at a pig and
say, well, that's the life? Our Lord says, the life, life
more abundant. What is the life? Christ said,
I am the life, didn't he? And the person who's in sin
trespasses is what? The life is not the life, talking
to his disciple, is not the life, Christ, the life more than meat? He said this in great derision
of mankind's pursuits. Meat. Meat. Man lives for meat. What happens to meat? You don't
want anything to do with it in just a few minutes. I mean, really, what's it turn
to? Let's be real. Let's be real honest here. Be
real human. What does it turn into? Repulsive. Everything here is. It turns
into that way. not the life more than me. Take
no anxious thought. Be not full of care about these
things. Is not this the life? What we're
doing right now, talking to believers now, I want to address this because
that's who the Lord is talking to. Talking to believers, I say
to anybody who doesn't know God, doesn't know Christ, doesn't
love God or Christ, Be full of anxious care, be full of fear,
be full of worry, be full of it. Just absolutely be scared
to death, because you might die today. And let the young know,
just absolutely take all kinds of thoughts. Don't think about
anything else, because you've got a lot to worry about. But
to God's people, I speak, he speaks. Is not this the life? What we're
doing now, worship, fellowship, the word, is not this the life?
Is not this the life? Do you ever feel, and I know
it's largely dependent on, sometimes anyway, how much liberty I seem
to have, how excited you get, and how much you enjoy the message.
But that's really not it at all. It's all based on the word. have
what God gives you from his Word, but is there not time are there
not times when you feel like after hearing God's Word being
blessed by God's Word being with God's people. It doesn't get
any better than that. Only God's people understand
this. They think this is the best there
is. Nothing compares with it. This is life more abundant. Like
Peter, remember Peter said, let's just stay right here, Lord, let's
just build three tents and just stay right here. Christ said of Mary, Mary, you
know, and her sister Martha, Martha was in the kitchen preparing,
all taken up with things, things that needed to be done. And yet
she was full of care. She was worried about the beans. Well, you know, a person's got
to watch the beans or the burner. But. So what? The Lord was sitting in there,
I mean, the Lord and the master was sitting there talking. Speaking,
God was preaching, teaching. And as a bowl of beans that she
was worried about, that's that puts it in perspective that.
She was all worried about a bowl of beans. That is what Esau was
worried about. Bless her heart. Martha, though,
was one of God's own. He was one of God's own. We get
carried away. We get full of that. But the
Lord said this. This is what I said. Mary was
in there sitting at Martha's feet. I mean, at the Lord's feet. Mary was sitting at the Lord's
feet. And the Lord said of Mary, She hath chosen the best part. We sit at the table together
all the time, don't we? Every one of us sits at the table
together, eating food. The older you get, the more you
enjoy. The thing you enjoy more than
anything is sitting around a table, eating food. Humilistic. Enjoying
a good meal with those that you love. Enjoying conversation.
I'll tell you what's better than that. The best part, right here, we're
at the table. The Lord has prepared us a table
in the midst of our enemies. And it's good food and good fellowship,
the best part. And this is what the Lord promised.
He said, this is what she's chosen. Did she? He said that Mary had chosen
the bet, did she? Where was Mary when the Lord,
where did Mary come from? Yet. Mary, I'm going to give you a
choice. Are you out with your old cronies and all that, or
are the Lords coming to dinner? There is no choice, she said.
I said, I'm going to have to think about it twice. And she
was sitting right there. And the Lord said this, Barbara,
he said, it will not be taken from her. That means ever. Barbara, Mary is right now sitting
at the feet of her master. And he said, Mary, I told you,
I told you, honey. You're going to stay right here
for eternity. While the world fusses over their
means. So he says to us, the disciples,
don't worry about this body, this life, what you shall eat
or what you shall drink. Don't worry about these things.
Read on. It's not the life more than meat,
the body than raiment. Verse 26, Behold, think about,
stop, look at the fowls of the air, birds. They don't sow, they
don't plant a garden. Neither do they read they don't
bring in a great harvest they don't store in barns. They don't miss a meal. They do not miss a meal. Where
do they get their food. You're having your heavenly father
feeds the bird. Feeds the bird. I enjoy feeding the bird. I've
got a bird feeder out here and a bird feeder behind the apartment
we live in now. And you know there are times
when I forget to feed those birds. It runs dry food and I forget
to feed them and I feel so bad. Poor birds are starving to death.
Oh, no, no, no, no. They were eating long before
I ever put that bird feeder out. Long before. I'm not feeding
those birds. No, no, no. My, my. The heavenly Father is feeding
them. You're a heavenly Father. Are you not much better than
they, a bird? Are you not much better than
they? Much better. You know, I'll tell
you what the Word of God says about God's people. The world is not
worthy. Hebrews 11 says of whom the world
is not worth it now, you know. That we ourselves are worth nothing. We're worth nothing, every one
of you love that illustration, we first heard it from Brother
Don Bell. You remember, he gave it right here first time I ever
saw it. He said what we all are. What
we all are by nature is a bunch of zeroes. We're nothing. A man thinks he's something when
he's nothing. How many zeroes can you put down
on paper? You just keep going. They say,
mathematicians say, numbers are without end. They're infinite.
I'm sorry, Stan, but you believe that. You're a nothing. I'm a
nothing. It's not like the world says, you're somebody and I'm
somebody. No. He's nothing. I tell you why
I know that. Because there's a zillion of them just like him.
Just like me. Bunch of nothing. Just keep on
putting zeros. How many do you want to put in
there? What are they worth? What are
they all worth? Lump them all together. Nothing. The great scientific question
is, is if you multiply zero times whatever, is it still zero? Yes. Now, what are they worth? What gave them their worth? One. One. He's worthy, Scripture says. Thou art worthy. Everything about
him is worth whatever. He's so worthy, God gave everything
to him. Lock, stock, and barrel. The Lord is well pleased for
you, alright, if you're in Christ. If you're found in him, though
you're a zero. You're worth what he's worth.
Is that right? He gives you your worth. And
God says, you're the apple of my eye. The hell or nothing is going
to take them out of my head. They're precious to me. Precious. My valuables, my jewels. He calls
them his jewels when he makes up his mind. I love that illustration, don't
you? Are you not worth more? The Lord gives the most insignificant
thing, a sparrow. How many sparrows are there?
Little sparrow, you look out there and that's the most common
bird. There is a little red, little house red or sparrow,
little brown bird. Are you not worth much more than
a sparrow? Who feeds them? And he goes on
to say, which of you, by taking thought, worrying about it, can
add one cubit unto his stature? One cubit. in another place if
you can't do that which is least. Why worry about anything. Greater. And one cubit to his stature. Can't make yourself grow one
in. We can't and we do not provide anything for ourselves let us
not fool ourselves for one moment we do not provide for ourselves
we do not provide for our family. A man is worse than an infidel
if he doesn't provide for his family. We were talking about
this morning about... It's not unbelief, it's loving your
own, want to provide for them and so forth. It's unbelief and
to think that that's what's really going to provide for them. It
is unbelief to think that you have that they're going to take
care of what I lay up for the. Man our Lord said be wise in
the man of unrighteousness be wise to the people of this world
of life but don't serve it and don't think that it's going to
give you your security and happiness. What the Lord. Teach. Does he
not lay up for his own in store? Is not everything in store and
savings for us, kept, preserved in heaven right now? We provide for our own. If it's
there, if it's available, fine. Don't trust it, though. The Lord
doesn't prohibit riches. The Lord doesn't say a rich man
cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. The Lord does not say that. The
Lord does not say riches are evil. The Lord says the love
of money. The Lord says then that trust
in riches, there's a big difference. Trust in riches. How hardly shall
they that trust in riches enter the kingdom of heaven. Because
the disciples were worried when he said that because they were
pretty well off. And they said, well, who can
be saved? The rich can't enter. How sharp hardly show they that
trust in which. That's where they're looking
for their happiness and contentment and security. All right, he says here, don't
take anxious thought. Now, you remember who he's talking
to. Also, he's talking to his disciples who left everything.
They left their homes, their families with one suit of clothes
and one pair of shoes. And they're heading out. Don't
know where they're going. Don't know where the next meal's
coming from. Remember that. And that might be good for us. They are our example. They are
our example. And he's selling them. Don't
worry about the meal tomorrow. They didn't. They didn't grow.
They didn't have a garden and waiting. They didn't have freezers.
They totally depended on the Lord for the next meal. And it
wasn't long after this, Brother Gabe, that they were worried
that the Lord said the people need food. And they said, where
are they going to get? We don't have enough money. How
are we going to. They plum forgotten what he'd said. And it wasn't
just a little time after that, they forgot again. There were
four more thousand that feed, and they said, where are we going
to feed all these? Oh, they forgot, didn't they? They just kept forgetting. Do what you will, you still don't
provide for yourself. You still don't provide for yourself.
God does. God does. So, we can't do that
which is least. Why worry about anything greater?
They talked about food. And he warns, he said, don't
he said, this is what the Gentiles. Verse thirty two, after all these
things to the Gentiles, see, I take you thought verse thirty
one, what we shall eat, what we shall drink or where we all
shall we be clothed? Doesn't that just isn't that
sum up the United States of America? Food and drink and clothing.
That's about it. Every billboard, every magazine,
every advertisement, TV, just inundated with that's it. Food,
clothing, And so forth. And I remind you. How that the disciples, one time
the Lord went long time without eating and they saw that. He
didn't tell them to not eat. But he did. And they said, Lord,
eat, eat something. You remember what he said? He
said, I have meat to eat. But you know not of. You know, not have I have meat
that really satisfies the hunger. I mean, really satisfies the
hunger. I have water that really quenches the soul, the soul,
not just the tongue. Water of this world. You notice
that you men are working outside. Can you get enough water to drink?
Can you get enough water? I've been working out in this
heat myself and and drinking literally gallons of water, literally
gallons of water. and come home and drink some
more and when I'm lying in bed. Right before I go to sleep I'm
still thirsty. Aren't you? It will not satisfy. That's what
the Lord said about this world. Everything in this world it will
not satisfy. Christ said I have water that
satisfies. I am the water of life. Read
on. He said, talked about clothing. And this is the most closed conscious
society since I guess Egypt of old image conscious society. I got to look good. And you know
I don't want to look bad. My wife accuses me of that sometimes.
But you know he says the Gentiles, those that don't know God, that's
all they think about. How am I going to look? The person
is mighty shallow if all they care about is how they look,
isn't it? There is something we need
to be concerned about wearing. There is an article of clothing
we need to be concerned that we're wearing, and God is the
only one that has it. It's a robe, a robe of righteousness. He said in verse thirty shall
not, if God so clothed the grass of the field and Solomon is not
nearly as pretty as one, one lily. Man made clothing, nothing
compares to what God makes, does it? Nothing. Nothing man has
ever made. No picture man has ever painted
ever begins to compare with what God has created. He said if God
clothes these things, he's going to burn up. Shall he not much
more clothed you? And I know he's talking about
Christ's robe of righteousness. Oh, yes, he will. And now, in
verse thirty-three, I wanted to get to this. He says, Seek
ye first, but, you see, I said, but here's a summary of everything
he said. In verse thirty-two, your heavenly
Father knows you have need of these things. He knows you have need. The Lord
is going to provide our needs. But he says, But seek ye first
the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things. He may
have swept his hands on things. We'll be added to that. Seek
ye first. Can I get a few more minutes
on this? Seek ye first, first things first,
the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Christ is the righteousness of
God, is he not? Seek me, he said. If it's me
you seek. Whom seek ye, he said to some
people. He said, sir, we would seek Jesus. Christ, the kingdom of God. Give your thoughts, your heart,
your time, your attention to winning Christ and be found in
him. Paul said this, he said, forget
those things that are behind. I've forgotten those things that
are behind. He said, I press toward the mark for the prize. This is the prize. This is what
I'm after. In fact, David, one thing that I desire. This is
the prize. Press toward the mark for the
prize of the higher calling of God. Where is it? In Christ Jesus. Higher calling. He said, Oh,
that I may win Christ to be found in him. Oh, that I might know
him, the power of his resurrection, be made conformable to his death. Our Lord said, Seek ye first
the kingdom of God and his right, the dominion of the king, God's
will, God's dominion over you on earth as it is in heaven.
And his righteousness, Christ, seek ye first. Seek, what does
it mean to seek? Have you ever sought, really
sought something? To seek something means to keep
looking until you find it. To keep looking, to not stop
looking until you find it. That's what it means to seek
something. A person has never really sought the Lord if he
hadn't found Him. The Lord never seeks anybody
He doesn't find. So to really seek is to find. I'm seeking the Lord's will.
You'll find if you really seek. Don't stop until you're looking.
I've told you several. In many instances, I've been
seeking something I had to have. One time I went fishing. Ron, I don't know if you heard
this. I went fishing with Brother Greg Elmquist down in Florida.
And we were out on the lake. I forget the name of the river.
And he flew down there. So he loaned me a rod and a reel. And we were out there fishing.
And we we rode out there to the spot where he knew some fish
were. Now this is an alligator country. This I mean there we
saw him on the way on the You see the movie Tarzan, you know,
that was like everywhere. And we got to the spot, I said,
I noticed some fish here. I know. I fished it. He handed me his brand new rod
and reel. He just bought it. And that's
a good friend of him. He took an old one. He just bought
it. He saved up his money and bought
this. And let's see. Now we know. How to go it was in it was lying
in the boat I had another brand new. And the first cast I threw
my rod back like that with the lure and hooked that brand new
rod and. It went in that dark alligator
infested river. I looked over at Greg and his
face was just sucking. And mine too. I know I looked
worse than him. I felt worse. Believe me, I felt
worse. And I put my rod down. I said,
I'm going to find it. Oh no, don't get in there. I'm
going to find it. And I went in that alligator,
it didn't matter. Did you read Todd's article on
the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, the person really has
to have Christ, nothing, nobody's going to keep him from. The person
really wants to know the will of God, nothing and no one's
going to stop, they're going to find that. See, I dove in that water and
lo and behold, Greg said, well, you're not going to die alone,
I'll come with you. I feel bad, you know. I feel bad, so we got
in there. Searching and searching, it's
mucky, it's dark. And he finally, he was saying,
let's quit, we're not going to find it, we're not going to find
it. I found it. I felt so much better. I was worried Ronnie wouldn't
take me fishing again. That's what it means to seek.
To seek means you search until you find it. When I looked for
it, it wasn't. You ever said that? Where's my
soul? I looked for it and I couldn't
find it. Man, how many times. It's
right in front of your nose. Oh, there it is. Seek, seek,
ye. Who's he talking to? You. You, Kevin, you. Your name's
right there, seek you, you, you. Elizabeth, you. You, seek you. Not, what's he, you. First, before anybody or anything,
seek Christ before you seek a husband. Seek to know Christ before you
seek a job. Seek to know Christ before you
seek a home, before you seek death first. Know what he said? You seek him first. First things first. And what
did he say? A promise from him who cannot
lie. All this stuff. What that is, he knows what things
you have need of. You need a husband? The woods are full of them. He's going to give you a husband. He's going to give you a job.
He's going to give you a house. Things. All these things. Seek
ye birth. Pearl. Great price. There's only one. He's had by
seeking. Things. And the entity. If Christ is
the bread, Everything else is great. I need bread without gravy. I need bread alone. Stopped at
the farmer's market, bought some bread. This woman makes bread
that I just dearly love. And brought it home when I ate
much of it. Before I could get buttered on,
I was so hungry. Bread. It's a staff of life. Christ
is the bread of life. He said, I'm the bread. I'm satisfied.
I'm the water, I'm the life, I'm the way, I'm the truth, I'm
happiness, I'm joy, I'm everything, I'm all, and in all, seek ye
first. Seek you, you, seek first the kingdom of God, Christ, and
his righteousness. He's faithful. Thanks be to God. Powerful. He can't lie. He can't lie. Well. Last verse he says so take
no thought for tomorrow. But what about tomorrow? That we don't know that we're going
to wake up in the morning, we just don't know. But I mean,
but what? We just don't know. Is the Lord
now again, we don't we're not idiots. We we don't you know. The Lord's word is spiritual
there's a spiritual man we don't take everything absolutely completely
literal like cut your hand off. If you hand the thing you cut
it off and there was a woman actually did that one time a
woman take lit took literally what her hand up and she So the Lord said, don't give
one single thought to tomorrow. Don't don't even think about
it. So some some lazy, no good, worthless husband says, hey,
hey, I don't have to worry about it. I ain't going to work. I
ain't even going to do nothing. The Lord is going to provide
for me. You idiot. You're an utter fool. Our Lord
said, a man's got to work while there's twelve hours in the day.
Provide for his own. So forth. What he's saying is,
don't take anxious thought for something you don't have any
control over. You don't even know there's going to be a tomorrow.
He's saying, don't worry about tomorrow. He's saying, don't
worry about tomorrow. Don't worry about tomorrow. There
may not be a tomorrow. And he goes on to say, for tomorrow
will take thought for the things of itself. You'll be worrying
tomorrow, so don't worry today. Does that make sense? Why worry tonight? You'll be
worried tomorrow. Somebody said this wisely. He
said, sufficient unto that day is the evil thereof. That's what
he's saying. You're going to have so much, you're going to
be full of unbelief and worry tomorrow. Why let it spoil now? Rest now and be content now. Rejoice now in what you have,
where you are. Somebody said there are three troubles that
we worry about. We human beings. Oh, we're smart.
Three troubles that we worry about. We worry about the troubles
we used to have. The troubles we have had. Oh,
you don't know what I went through. Is it over? Yeah, but we'll forget
it. Why bring it up? And this is
a good thing about our sin, our past life. It just bothers us.
We just worry. We fret. Why worry about what
God forgot? Why bring it up again? Why bring
it up again? God says, I don't remember it.
Don't keep bringing it up. That's unbelief, really. Be sorry for it, but don't think,
oh, I'm guilty. Yes, you're guilty. Forget it,
though. Forget those things that are behind. And we're all right. People worry about the troubles
they used to have. Have had. And then they worry
about the troubles they are having. right now and that's human because
we know we don't see this far. Human. They said and then we
don't worry about the troubles we think we're going to have. Man he says sufficient today
is the trouble there. Don't worry about trouble you
don't have yet. Oh you are going to really be
bad. You don't know. You don't know what's going to
happen. Don't worry about it. Now, don't be a fool and not
do what your responsibilities require, but don't worry about
it. To believers, your Heavenly Father
is controlling everything and providing everything. Cast how
much care upon Him. That's what we're talking about. care, our thoughts, our anxiousness. How much do we cast on him, depend
on him? All. Cast in all your care on
him. Why? He careth for you. That doesn't simply mean that
all he feels is your pain. It means he's actually taking
care of you. Don't you take what's not yours
anyway. I don't ever remember when my
daughter was growing up in our household or worrying about one
meal. Ever. When we were going somewhere,
I promised her we were going to the beach or we were going
here. I don't ever remember. She's anxious to get there. And
I don't ever remember her doubting that we would get there. Oh, we'd be gone about 30 minutes,
Debra, and she said, how much longer? I'd hate to say, you
know, it's fourteen hours, but we got there. Every time. What if she said, I don't believe
you, Daddy, I don't believe you, and fretted and fussed and said,
I don't believe you. I'm hungry. What would you do? Make you angry. That's unbelief. She doesn't trust me. She doesn't
think I'm able. All right, all right, get there
yourself. She can't. She can't. And he's faithful. That promise. Seek ye, seek ye first the kingdom
of God and his righteousness. All these the only thing. Okay
the same closing.
