Right back to John fourteen. The title of this message is
Words of Truth and Peace. Do you remember Wednesday night
when we studied in the book of Esther? And one of the last things written
was there. Let me find it real fast. I want
to quote it to you. You remember when Esther, who
represented Christ, sent letters to the Jews by the hand of Mordecai,
who represents the believer, just an old sinner. She wrote
these letters. Remember, the king told her,
you write whatever you see fit. She sent letters back and it
said she sent words of peace and truth. I love it when the
Lord reaffirms his word to me. When I don't plan these messages. But they come in exact sequence. I did not plan it this way. Not
at all. But that's exactly what the Christ
our Lord here. Sends to us words of truth and
piece, our subject here from John 14. All right, look at verse
25, begin there. Christ said, These things have
I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. While I am
still with you, he said, before I leave you, I have told you
these things. I have told you these things
before I leave. What things? Well, let me remind
you, let's just go back and look at a few things that he said.
All right. Go back to chapter 13. If you
remember. The way we started out this. Theologians call it the pastoral
discourse, or that is the discourse that our Lord. Spoke before the pastoral to
his people, this is a. As we noted, an intimate conversation
between the Lord and his people, his children. And he said many
things to them, to us. Look back there, chapter 13,
verse 34. He says many, many things. We can't go back over everything he said,
but these are some of the highlights. He said, A new commandment I
give unto you. A new commandment I give unto
you, that ye love one another as I have loved you. That ye
also love one another. A new commandment. Love one another.
He's leaving and he leaves them and us with these parting words.
Love one another. That's one of the first things
he said, John. Love one another. Peter said it. He said, I want
to bring this remembrance to your remembrance before I leave.
He said, see that you love one another with a pure heart, fervently. John said it too, didn't he?
Love one another. Why? Why? Why are these parting
words? Because you're going to need
one another. Your family's not going to, they're
going to let you down. Your old friends are going to
cease to be friends. You're going to need one another. Love one
another. Love one another. Fall in love
one another. Provoke one another to love.
This is your family. Your true family. These are the
ones you're going to spend eternity with. Nurture the relationship. You're going to need one another
in this world. And these are the sheep. These are the salt of the earth.
The rest I send you forth as sheep among wolves. Love one another. Spend your
time with one another. Seek out one another. You're not going to find any
peace or help or comfort or companionship with the world. Love one another. This is all the family you've
got. Really. And besides, believers are the
only ones really worth loving. Look at chapter 14. So he says,
love one another. Chapter fourteen verse three
he said now. I go and prepare a place for
you. And I'll come again in my father's
house verse two in my father's house of many mansions or reservations
if it were not so I would have told you that I go to prepare
a place for you you have a reservation and I go to confirm it I go to
put down the payment And it wasn't partial. It was full. I go to put down the full payment
for your reservation. You have a place. John, you have
to pay your own way to Cherokee, don't you? It's pretty. It's going to be
pretty now. You're going to enjoy yourself. But like my pastor
said this morning, you ain't seen nothing yet. And Christ
went. And there's a reservation for
you, John, if you're one of his own. Paid in full. He paid it
off. I go. Verse three, he says, If
I go, I'll come again and receive you unto myself that where I
am there you may be also. I'm coming again, I'm going to
take you back with me. Verse six, he said this, these
things, I am the way, the truth, and the lie. I am the way. You don't have to find the way,
I'm the way. I'm the truth. I'm the truth. You don't have
to know too much. Just me. I'm the life. It's not you living a certain
way. It's because I live, you live
also. These things. Read on. Verse 11. He says down there. Here. Believe me, I'm in the
Father, and the Father in me. For believe me, for the weary
work's sake. The words and the works. Do you
remember that message? I had. I'd like to go back over
those verses again, the words, remember the words I spoke unto
you, we've heard things that other people haven't heard. We've
seen things like that story on Esther Wednesday night. These
things have been hidden from the wise and prudent and gloriously
revealed to us. We're just like those Jews in
the wilderness who saw Shekinah glory in that little brown tent
in the wilderness while hordes of people, worlds of people passed
by and there's nothing to them. We get to go in and see these
things. Words and the works, all that
we've seen him do in our midst. Verse 13, he says this, these
things he says, Whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will
I do. Verse 16. I'll pray the Father and he'll
give you another comforter. There's a comforter coming. A
comforter. Verse twenty-three. If a man
love me he'll keep my words and my Father will love him. We'll
come unto him and make our abode with him. We'll come in and abide
with our people. So these things, these are just
a few things that he said. Verse twenty-five. These things
have I spoken unto you being yet present with you. Now, after
I leave, he says, now verse 26, but the Comforter, which is the
Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, in the name
of Christ, the Spirit of Christ, he shall teach you all things. The Holy Spirit, Christ's Spirit
in his name, Christ's Spirit, he shall teach you all things. What things? Love one another. I am the way
and the truth. I go to prepare. What he said. Read it. He shall teach you all
things. He shall bring all things to
your memory. What I already said to you. Keep repeating himself. That's
what the Holy Spirit does. Repeats him. Repeats him. Why does the Lord keep repeating
things to us? You've heard me tell that story
about that mother who someone said something to that young
mother. She said, why did you tell that?
You told that child. I sat there and counted. You
told that child to do something five times. She said, why did
you do that? She said, because he didn't get
it after the fourth. So what about us who are dull
of hearing? Scripture says. who are in the
flesh, and he knoweth our frame." So he tells us 999 times. Yea,
he tells us the rest of our days. The same thing. John has to keep
confirming to you the same thing. He sure does. Well, he says,
"...the Comforter will come and bring to remembrance what I have
said." Now this is the work of the Holy Spirit. This is the
work of the Holy Spirit. To take the things, well he says
that over in chapter sixteen. Now look over there quickly.
Chapter sixteen. He says in verse thirteen. The
spirit of truth is come, he'll guide you in all truth, whatsoever
he shall not speak of himself, whatsoever he shall hear, that
shall he speak. He'll show you things to come.
He'll come, he'll glorify me, for he shall receive of mine
and show it. unto you. That's what Christ
says back here. He shall teach, bring you to
remember it's all things that I have said. Whatsoever I've
said, whatever I've said, he'll take things of Christ and keep
on showing them to us. Now, he's called, look at verse
17, and we just read it in chapter 16. He's called the spirit of
what? Verse seventeen spirit of what.
Truth. The spirit of truth. Now who
is what is the truth. I said it right the first who
Christ is the truth he already said that. I am the truth so
the Holy Spirit is called the spirit of truth so therefore
what is the Holy Spirit do. He speaks of Christ. He speaks
of Christ, he's Christ's spirit, Christ's spirit. You remember
over there in Romans 8, our pastor, our pastor, he's mine, he's your
assistant pastor. He quoted to us, if any man hath
not the spirit of Christ, he's not here. Spirit of Christ. The Holy Spirit's mission is
to make Christ known to those that don't know him. That is,
those whom God has chosen, those whom God has elected, those whom
God has given to Christ, those who have the blood on them, the
Holy Spirit comes rounding them up. That's what sanctification
is. So an easy way to remember it
is like being lassoed, like a cutting horde, a fellow who cuts cattle. He's got his eye on one cow he's
going to brand it. You ever seen that done? We've
seen a fellow on a horse. Have you seen it, Henry? He lastly
gets his lariat, and he's got one cow in mind. That's what
a good cutting horse does. He cuts that cow out of the herd,
and he finally got him, and then he wrestles it to the ground
and rams it. Well, in this case, Christ is
the owner. The Holy Spirit is riding the high horse, and the
lasso, the cords, are what? He said, I've gone you with the
cords of a man, cords of love, the gospel, cords of the gospel,
and sanctify, cuts us out of the herd with the voice of the
gospel, and brands us Middle C. Owned now by Christ. Christ, what Ed Berry has on
his Bible, and Christ's property of him. He doesn't, well, He
makes Christ known to those that don't know him, and those who
do know him, the Holy Spirit makes him better known. He continues
to make Christ known to people like Vicki. That's what he's
doing now. If indeed he is present and you're one of his, and I
believe you are, he's taking the things of Christ and showing
them unto you, causing you to grow in grace and the knowledge
of what? Christ. This is faith. This is faith. A person. Knowledge, trust, being convinced of a person.
OK? All right. Truth, he said. The
spirit of truth. This is what the Holy Spirit
uses. This is what the Holy Spirit does. Truth. Not signs. Truth. Not wonders. Truth. Not goings-on, you know, wildness,
solidness, soundness. Not make you just, you know,
run and holler and jump and shout, but plant you. Makes you stand. Not make you jump a pew, but
make you sit in one. The saying of the Holy Spirit doesn't make a person act crazy.
You see, they're doing that before the Holy Spirit gets a hold of
them. Right, Rebecca? The Holy Spirit
doesn't make a person act like they're insane. See, that's the
way they were when he found them. Like that Gadarene demoniac,
remember? Cutting himself and rolling among
the tombs. You remember that, Barbara? That's the way you were before
Christ found you. Crazy. If people think you're
crazy now, they should have known you then, right, Barbara? You're
really crazy. You're insane, really, until
you have the mind of Christ, aren't you? A person's insane
until they have the mind of Christ. And that's what the Holy Spirit
does. He makes a person, He gives them the mind of Christ. He makes
them think straight. Makes him think straight. He doesn't make a person speak
incoherently. This is about what, this is the
opinion that religion has of the Holy Spirit, isn't it? That
he makes people act crazy and talk stupid. That he makes people act crazy
and talk stupid. Well that's the way we were before
the Holy Spirit got a hold of us. Do you remember the story
about that fellow who, when Christ came to him, said he had a speech
impediment? You see, we talk stupid before the Holy Spirit
gets a hold of you. Right? We've got a speech problem,
we babble, especially if you're in religion, right? You're just
a vain babbler until the Holy Spirit gets a hold of you and
makes you say something worth hearing. Right? Speech impediment. The speech impediment most people
have by nature has a lot of I in it. Right? That's the speech
impediment. Particularly religion, like I
said. Religion. These babblers and these foolish
talkers. I did them. I told the Lord.
I did them. I said I, I, I, I, I. When the Holy Spirit gets
a hold of a man, he changes it from I to Him. It changes their
talk. The spirit of truth. Truth. He teaches truth to the head. Yes, they know something. Believers
know something. Don't say that you don't. You
know, we quote that verse of Scripture, if any man thinks
he knows anything, he knows nothing, yet is he all. That means that
we don't have any one thing mastered. If any man thinks he knows anything,
he's got it down pat. He doesn't need to study it any
further. He knows nothing yet. He needs
to start over again. But we do know some things, right?
Because if the Holy Spirit comes, he teaches you all things. Look over at 1 Corinthians 2.
1 Corinthians 2. The Holy Spirit teaches. Yes, he gives us some head knowledge. head knowledge. First Corinthians two turn over
there. And and he's he he he teaches some things in the head
but but you know it doesn't stay there. It doesn't stay in the
head it goes to the heart right it goes to the heart. And then
what happens where is it what happens when it after it's in
the heart out of the abundance. Right Vicki. out of the abundance
of the heart is something really in your heart. That's how you
talk. You speak the truth. Now, what
I'm saying is the Holy Spirit teaches truth, teaches in the
head, but more importantly, they love the truth. You with me,
Deborah? Good. I'm not picking on you. You're there. And they love the
truth. That's the difference between
Those that are truly led by the Spirit, like we heard this morning,
and those that aren't. 2 Thessalonians talks about people
who receive not the love of the truth. And these things that
we go over and over again, that the Spirit keeps rehearsing over
and over again, we don't grow tired of them. Things like righteousness. Now I dealt with it in the 10
o'clock hour and then my pastor got up and dealt with it again.
Did you tire of it? Did you think to yourself, why
is he saying that again? We already heard that. No. That's
a good sign, isn't it? He teaches the head, it goes
to the heart, then it comes out of the mouth. We speak things,
words like righteousness, propitiation, covenant mercy, reconciliation. Deep things. Look here at chapter
2, verse 10. God hath revealed them unto us
by his Spirit. The Spirit searcheth all things.
What things? You already said it. Yea, the
deep things of God. Deep things. What deep things? What deep things? You know, religion
is so shallow today. In the shallow. You listen to
these fellows, don't you? How could you sit? How could
somebody sit and listen to these fellows very long? They're not saying anything.
Have you ever heard Billy Graham? Have you listened to Billy Graham
for a very long break? He can't preach a mic. He's not even a good speaker.
He sits there and says nothing. Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You might as well. Seriously, he's a pitiful speaker. Let alone, he doesn't say anything,
nothing of any depth. Deep things. The Spirit searches
the deep things and makes them known unto us. Deep questions
that nobody's asking today, Rick, right? What questions? Can you
think of one? And one question in particular
comes to my mind every time, that I never, ever heard one
preacher in modern religion ask. You know what I'm going to say.
How? Job is the oldest book in the
Bible. And Job says, now I know it's so of a truth. He said,
I know this is so, but I tell you it's a question worth asking.
How can God be just and justify the ungodliness? How can he bring
a clean thing out of an unclean? How can God, who's infinitely
holy and righteous, have anything to do with sinners? All preachers
have to say, God loves you, and Christ died for you, and yada,
yada, yada. Ask this question. How? Why? Dink questions. Weightier matters.
Isn't that what he said to the Pharisees? You've omitted the
weightier matters of the law. Judgment. Preachers aren't talking about
judgment today, are they? Huh? Why, no. Darnell, no they're
not, because God loves everybody. There's not going to be a judgment.
He loves everybody. Wouldn't dare tell people that
God is angry and God hates sin and God's going to judge and
there's a hell. You ever even hear anybody talk about hell
anymore? No. It's out of vogue. There's no judgment. No, if God's all love, there
is no judgment. Right? Judgment. Mercy. Remember when Christ said
this? Listen. Do you remember when
he said this? I will have mercy and not sacrifice. Go learn what that means. Do
you remember that? Go learn what that means. It's not one in a thousand can
tell you. Not one in a thousand has gone and even tried to learn
what that means. What does that mean? Do you know
what that means? Do you know what that means? Do you know what that means? That's the gospel. And I'm not
careful. I'll stay right there the remainder
of the time. Well, go learn what that means. Go learn what that
means. Look at verses 11 and 12 here
in 1 Corinthians 2. It says, What man knoweth the
things of a man, sayeth the Spirit of man which is in him. Even
so, the things of God knoweth no man but the Spirit of God. They've totally left out the
Spirit of God when it comes to teaching. You know, you go to
school or go to a Bible class, you can figure it out. Verse 13, which things also we
speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth. Verse 12, I'm sorry, we have
received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is
of God, that we might know the things that are freely given
to us of God. We have not received the spirit
of the world, all right? Turn back to Romans 8, and I've got
something to add, what was preached this morning. You thought he
covered it all, didn't you? He'd be the first to tell you.
We just skimmed the surface. And again, I love it when things
are affirmed to make, confirmed to make. He started reading these
things and it just, I quoted them Wednesday night. Remember,
we read this Wednesday night. He even quoted John 14 this morning.
You remember that? He didn't know why I was going
to preach on it. Look here at Romans 8. It says in verse 5,
Romans 8, verse 5, They that are after the flesh do mind the
things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit do
the things of the Spirit. What my pastor said was absolutely
so. That they that are after the
flesh do mind the things of the flesh, or the mundane things
of this world, pursuit of this and that and the other, food
and clothing, what we shall eat and drink and all that. But let
me add this to that. They that are after the flesh, they put a great deal of stock
in flesh in religion. Their religion consists of flesh. It's an outward show of the flesh. It all involves an inward feeling
in the flesh. You and I were talking about
that. That religion today is designed to make you what? Feel
good. You haven't got the feeling yet? Or outward signs, fleshly signs
and wonders. It's religion of the flesh. They that are after the flesh,
that's what they think about. That's what they think religion
is all about. Let me give you an illustration.
It'll wake you up. Brother Barnard one time was
preaching a meeting, and some young girl got up. You've seen
them. She was doing this number, Rick.
That's what she was doing. She was doing a number, just
like in Dallas, like Dolly at Dollywood or something. And she
was pretty. She's all painted up, and she
was doing this number. And people were crying. She had
them moving them. After she sat down, he said,
little lady, I mean he said it to her face in front of everybody.
He said, that was nothing but the flesh. And that's all that stuff is. A whole shooting match, a whole
shooting shebang, all religion going on today. Turn it on. Watch
them. Hollywood, Nashville sounds,
Nashville cats. And after they get done with
their little numbers, people clap. Who are they clapping for?
Who do you think? Flesh. Oh, didn't that make you
feel good? That doesn't have nothing to
do with faith. Feelings. Feelings. You see, listen to this very
carefully. How many times have you heard Philippians 3, verse
3? The true circumcision. Worship God in the Spirit. God
does not worship with men's hands. Sit on your hands. Don't show
them. Worship God in the Spirit. Rejoice in Christ Jesus. and
have no confidence in the fresh. Don't trust what you see or what
you feel. Dare not—we sing that song, we
love that hymn, don't we?—I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but holy links on somebody's name. Christ the solid rock I
stand. We quote that, was it you that
mentioned Newton's hymn or Martin Luther? Feelings come and feelings
go. Feelings are so deceiving. But if that's salvation, this
world's got it, don't it? Very little mention of Christ,
very little mention of the gospel, no mention of the gospel, hardly
any mention of Christ. These things, the truth, boy,
they got feelings on them. They come and go, and so do the
people of heaven. But those that are grounded solid
on a firm foundation, they have their feet cemented in a rock. They're not moving. They're not
going anywhere. And neither is their salvation. Why? Because
it's the rock they stand on, not the feelings they have. Well,
and the Holy Spirit teaches God's children the truth as it is in
Christ, and they know the truth, and the truth sets them free.
The truth sets them free. Christ said the truth shall set
you free. Free from what? Free from just what I was talking
about. Free from these dudes that tell
you, if you don't have it, you ain't got it. Well, you tell
them because you know the truth. He said, I don't want it. Free from fellows like, ain't
you heard it? Don't want to hear it. Didn't you see that? Don't trust my eyes. I don't
live by sight. I live by faith. Did you hear
what so-and-so said? Don't care. He's a liar. He's
a liar, liar. But you'd set his pants on fire.
Free from the flesh. Why do I always think of that
stupid little saying? I wish God is going to. He is
going to. We'll set them on fire. Fire
or hell. That's what they're filled with
anyway. Free from the flesh. All the notions of it. Free from
men, not subject to them. Free from superstition and tradition.
You know the truth and it'll set you free. And look back at the text. They
receive, they believe all that Christ said. Did you see that
verse 26? He'll bring all things to your
remembrance, I say. And they believe everything Christ
said. And they say, and they reject
everything anybody else says. It doesn't matter who says it.
Right? That's the way Paul, when Paul
said, though we, I'm an apostle, he said. or an angel from heaven
came down and told you anything but what you perceive, the gospel,
the truth, don't believe him." Just believe what Christ said,
because God is true and every man is a liar. All right, so
those are words of truth. He uses words of truth. And boy,
we didn't skim the surface of the truth, did we? truth of who
God is, what we are, who Christ is, what he's done, truth. My,
my. All that he said and all that
he's done, all that he is. Verse 27, here's this words of
peace. Peace I leave with you. There's a twofold peace here
he talks about. Peace I leave with you, my peace
I give unto you. Two different things he's talking
about, Barbara. Peace I leave with you. Peace
I'm leaving with you. As if it's something that he
went and got and bought or obtained or whatever and came back and
left it here. He leaves something, something
you have and you leave it. Peace I leave with you. What
kind of peace is that? Peace with God that he made by
the blood of his cross. You say Christ hasn't gone to
the cross yet. In the mind of God, he has, hasn't he? Oh, yeah. Otherwise, Abraham wouldn't have
had peace. Abel. David. All those before Christ
died, right? Oh, yeah. Christ as a lamb slain
before the foundation of the world, right? Before there was
a sinner, Christ made peace by the blood of his crop. I leave
it with you. I'm leaving you, he says, with
a full, final, Unconditional pardon, a peace treaty which
was made between me and the Father for you. And I sealed it with my blood.
I'm leaving a peace treaty with you. You just show it and you'll
be granted acceptance. You'll be received. You'll be
accepted. And nobody and nothing can annul it. It's been sealed. and it's been signed. Here's
the second piece. Peace I give unto you. My peace
I give unto you. What's that? What kind of peace
is that? That's inner peace. Peace of
heart and mind. My peace I give unto you. Which
Paul said over in Philippians 4, the peace of God which passeth
understanding shall keep your minds and hearts through Jesus
Christ. The peace of God which passes
understanding. Let me give you an illustration
of the peace of God which passes understanding that Christ had
and that he gives his people. The disciples were on a ship
and the winds were contrary to them and the waves were crashing
and they thought they were going down. What was Christ doing? resting, sleeping. He had peace. Is the ship going
down? No way. What if it did? If it went down, they'd just
go up. I mean, what difference does
it make which way? What happens? It's all going
to be good. You live, you'll—it's Christ. That's the peace Christ. And
that's the peace he gives to his people. And they have it
in. They have it. As much as they
have is according to their faith. According to their faith. Remember
when he told that woman, according to your faith, so be it unto
you. How much peace do you have? How big is your Christ? How much peace do you have? How
much do you believe God's Word? See what I'm saying here? The
amount of peace we have is according to how much we believe God. Now, the first peace has nothing to do with how much we
believe God, because that's what Christ obtained for us, and we're
going to have that regardless. But if we're tossed to and fro
like the disciples, He said, what's the first thing he said
unto them? O ye of little faith. Why are you worried? The Lord's
in the boat. I mean, God's in the back of
the boat. That was the actual case, but
in our case, he's not in the back of anything. We're in his
big hands. O ye of little faith. How big is your God? How big is your God? How much
peace do we have? Peace by believing. Peace by
believing. Peace means calm assurance. That's
what peace means. Calm assurance. What is it based on? Faith. Believing
God. Believing God's word that is
the one I don't have how much do you consult this. You know it's a manly thing to
not consult roadmaps. You know that it. Not you John
you're a liar. In the early I don't know where
Matt is he ever well maybe not. You ain't much of a man. Real men don't read road maps.
Right, Henry? You know where you're at? There's
one, isn't he? A real man. I know where I'm
at. You're lost. No. I know where
I'm at. And it's a human thing not to
consult God's Word. It's just a natural thing. I
know what I'm doing, do you? You're lost. Better consult the
map and the book. The light. Better turn the light
on. I can see. You stump your toe. Huh. It's based on faith. Christ said, this is that which
overcometh the world, even your faith. Doesn't it? Overcome a
world of anxieties and problems and troubles. Well, where does
faith come from? It all comes right back to this,
doesn't it? Everything comes right back our
peace, our light, our joy, our understanding coming right back
to them. And we don't have it. We're not availing ourselves
of them. Peace I leave with you. Peace
I give unto you. This is a book of peace. If you
can't sleep at night. Get out your book of peace and
read Psalm 121. where the Lord never sleeps,
and then you go back to sleep. And he's staying up, Barbara,
controlling things, so you can go back to bed. Do that. Tonight, you wake up all worried
about something, read Psalm 121, okay? I'm serious. Book of Peace. Not as the world
giveth you, he says, not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
What kind of peace does the world get? Talking about that first
peace, they say Christ really didn't obtain it. Don't they,
John? He really didn't save you. He
did all He could do. Now, that's up to you. That's
conditional peace, isn't it? Now, He did what He could do.
Now, He ran it 99 yards, or here's the ball. It won't end. They don't understand the foe. I mean, the whole line facing
me weighs 350 pounds each. I weigh 150. I can't gain a yard. I lose 12. Well, try again. Lose 12 more until I'm backed
up all the way. Right, Stan? Talk about me fighting
Ali this morning, or Evander Holyfield. And I'd wind up, and
that'd be it. Wouldn't it? And it'd be over,
and I wouldn't know what happened. They'd wake me up, and I'd say,
is it time to fight yet? Isn't that right? Christ does
it all. That's the peace that He gives. That's a world give, based on
your behavior. Your salvation is not based on
your behavior, Teresa. Aren't you glad? It's based on
Christ's behavior. Your salvation is not based on
your faithfulness, Polly. Now, if you'll stay faithful,
if you'll keep on keeping on, Polly, you'll keep on. Come on,
Polly, keep on. Keep on what? Peter says we're kept by what? The power of God unto salvation,
ready to be revealed. Sounds like he's got us under
lock and key and kept in safe. That's what it means to be kept.
Safekeeping, lock and key. You read that. He shut us in. Just like Noah. Conditional peace
the world gives is based on feeling spiritual. How spiritual do you
feel all the time? But if this congregation, if
our salvation was based on the amount of spiritual commotion
that we carry on. We're dead. Come on. I've been saying ever
since I've been here, I want one woman to out loud say amen. But we're dead. Let's go home.
Let's quit. Ain't no spirit here. Or is there? Maybe, maybe now where there's
the most quiet is where there's the most spirit. Where people are the most still,
they'd be still. There's ones that know he's God.
And not so quick to utter the sacrifice of fools. They know
God's in the heaven, they're on the earth, and they'd let
their words be few. They know God's not worshiped
in this manner, and they're trying to avoid it as much as they can.
Even though they want to, but I'd still like to hear it one
time. Barbara, come on. Not as a world gift, fleeting
peace too. It's fleeting peace that the
world gives. Saved today, lost tomorrow. Right? People are real intruder now.
I mean this when I say this. Most of the time, I have absolute,
full assurance. I cannot tell you the last time
that I really doubted my salvation. I mean that. But I'm not saying
this to brag on myself, because I ain't nothing but a no-good,
wretched sinner who sins daily, constantly, hourly, moment by
moment. But you see, my salvation, my
assurance is not based on me. It's based on the unchanging
Christ, His unchanging Word, His unchangeable covenant, the
fact that He said, I'm the Lord, I change not. Therefore, you
snake in the grass, you son of Jacob, you cheat, you scoundrel,
you no good, what's your name? Jacob. That's whose God I am. Help me.
