was with me to the fourth psalm,
to the fourth psalm. We want to remember Jim, and
Jim Fawcett, and Peggy when we pray. Let's read the
fourth psalm together. Hear me when I call, O God of
my righteousness. Thou hast enlarged me when I
was in distress. Have mercy upon me and hear my
prayer. O you sons of men, how long will
you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love vanity
and seek after leasing? But know that the Lord has set
apart him that is godly for himself. The Lord will hear when I call
unto him. Stand in awe and sin not. Commune
with your own heart upon your bed and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness
and put your trust in the Lord. There be many that say, who will
show us any good? Lord, lift up the light of thy
countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my
heart more than in the time that their corn and their wine is
increased. I will both lay me down in peace and sleep for thou,
Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. Our Father, in the blessed name
of the Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior, the Son of your love, the Son
who loved us, and our Father, we indeed are thankful from the
depths of our soul, of our heart of hearts, for this wonderful,
wonderful Savior. This hallelujah, what a Savior. Saving, keeping, helping, loving
all the way to the end. Lord, You indeed a great Savior. Blessed Savior. Precious Savior. A needed Savior. And a wanted
Savior. Those in here tonight, we're
here because we do want You to be our Savior. Need You to be
our Savior. Need you to be our keeper. Need
you to be our strength, our shelter, our shield, our buckler. Need
you, Lord Jesus, to be our all in all, and indeed you are. And Lord, as we approach you,
we approach you on the behalf of those that are so tried, so
afflicted, so burdened. We pray for Jim. Lord, bless
him. God, help him to be strong and
touch his body. Touch his body, Lord, that only
you can do. And our Savior, we pray for Peggy. Thank you for her. Ask you to
continue to strengthen her, uphold her, that she can come worship
with us again. And Lord, we call out our children's
name. I call out my son, Dougie, Lenny,
Dylan, Josh, Brittany, Amy, Paige, Aiden, Riley, Bentley, Casey,
and all those that we love, our family. Lord, I want you to know
their names. I want you to send your spirit
after them and go after them, Lord Jesus, as only you can.
And Lord, help me to preach tonight and help the saints to hear.
Thank you for your abundant blessings given us in Christ before the
world ever began. Amen. Amen. Turn with me back here in the
fourth Psalm and let's look at this together. There it is. I pray it'll be
a blessing to you tonight. There's a David, the Psalms speak to us
whatever condition we're in. And if we knew the meter and
the notes, we could sing these Psalms. But David starts out
by saying, Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness. First thing he recognizes, God
is righteous. God is righteous. God is infinitely
holy and righteous. So when I call on you, I'm calling
on the God who is righteous. I'm not calling on anybody. I'm
not calling on a God that cannot help me or do anything for me.
I recognize that He's righteous. And every how He deals with me,
He got to deal with me according to His nature, according to His
character. Hear me when I call, O God of
my righteousness, and thou hast enlarged me." David here is talking
about things that God did for him in this psalm. And what he
did for David, he does for us. He's the same God. Here's the
same saints. Here's the same prayers. He's
not changed. And look what David said about
this God when he heard him. Here's some words of encouragement
for us. He says, Thou hast enlarged me
when I was in distress. What does that enlarge mean? When he heard him when he called.
And David was in distress. He was in distress. And when
distress is when you are so in such a condition you don't know
what to do. You can't save yourself. You're
in such a state that somebody else has to come to your rescue.
Somebody else has to come and relieve you of your distress.
And when he had called on the God of his righteousness, He
said, You have enlarged me. And that word enlarged me means
set me free. You've set me free. You've enlarged
my borders. You've set me free from this
distress. You've set me free as if I was
in prison. You've opened the doors. You've
let me out. David was at the end of his rope.
David was in distress. I don't know what it was. And
if you've ever been in distress, and you've ever been in this
condition, and you start calling on God, and God begins to loosen
the chains, and God begins to open up the ruin-dust, God begins
to open up, turn on the light, and next thing you know, that
bondage and that distress starts going away, and you're at large!
You're free! You're free! And I know this,
the Lord always, when his people's in distress, always, always sets
them free. And look what he says here. Have
mercy upon me and hear my prayer. And when you look in the margin
where it says mercy, be gracious unto me. Be gracious unto me. I want you to be gracious to
me. And that's what we desperately need, God's grace. to him to
be gracious to us. And he hath made him free. He
said, O Lord, you have enlarged me. You've set me free. You've
made me, my whole life to be free and free of distress. And who set him free? The God
of righteousness set him free. And I'll tell you something about
God, His righteousness, and because He is righteous, He has to deal
with everybody on this earth righteously. Now He's dealt with
us righteously. He's dealt with us on the basis
of His righteousness. That's what the gospel says.
God declares His righteousness that He might be just and justify
Him that believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel. Paul
said, I'm not ashamed of it for the gospel declares the righteousness
of God. The gospel declares how God can
stay righteous. infinitely righteous, righteous
in his nature, righteous in his character, and at the same time
save men on the basis of that righteousness and make them as
righteous as he himself is. How does he do that? He spared not his own son, but
delivered him up for us all. And if God righteously punished
His Son when our sins were laid on Him, and God righteously judged
His Son, So that man who comes to Christ and believes on Christ
and says, Christ is my only hope, Christ is my only plea, Christ
is my only acceptance before God, Christ is, I got to have
Christ or else, then God says, you know what? I'll justify you,
I'll clear you, and I'll declare you righteous. And my own son, in fact, he is
our righteousness. We're righteous by him and him
alone. And oh, look what else he did
to him. Not only did he make him free, but look down in verse
seven, look what he did for David. He does this for us. Thou hast
put gladness in my heart. I was in distress, now you've
put gladness in my heart. Oh my, put gladness in my heart. And you know how he says how
much gladness is in his heart? He says, more than they that
have their corn and wine increased. When the harvest comes and they
start piling the corn into the crib, and they start bringing
all the wine in that they've made, and they're set for the
winter time, and everybody's heart's full of joy, and everything's
good. David said, you put more gladness
in my heart than that. Look with me over in John's gospel
chapter 20. Oh, listen, the harvest, the
harvest ought to have a big harvest. It ought to have lots and lots
of corn, lots and lots of wine. Look in John chapter 20 and verse
19 with me for just a minute. I remember Scott Richardson preached
from this years and years ago, and I believe Bruce mentioned
it in one of his messages. He said, then the same day, That
evening being the first day of the week, that's the Lord's day,
that first day of the week for the Jews was Sunday. When the
doors were shut, when the disciples were assembled for fear of the
Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst and saith unto them,
peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he showed
unto them his hands and his side, then listen to this, then were
the disciples glad when they saw the Lord. That's what'll
make you glad, won't it? Would you rather have the Lord?
for a great big harvest. Would you rather have the Lord
and all the wine, the best wine that they could make? Oh, that's
why David said, you put this gladness in my heart. Harvest
will make some people glad, wine will make some people glad, but
you, you put this gladness in my heart. And oh, beloved, and
he put this gladness in his heart by his grace. put it in there
by His power. That's something we can't produce,
you see. That's what Simon Peter says,
Though we see Him not now, yet believing, rejoice with joy unspeakable
and full of glory. And when Paul stood before Agrippa,
and oh, they had all these accusations about him. You know what? He
stood up and he said, I am happy. I am so glad that I can answer
for myself. Then beloved God in His sovereign
grace and His wondrous mercy, He's the one that puts gladness
in our hearts. And it's wonderful to be glad.
It's wonderful to rejoice in the Lord. And then look what
else He did for David. Not only did He make him free
and put gladness in his heart, look in verse 8. He made him
safe, made him secure. I'LL BOTH LAY ME DOWN IN PEACE
AND SLEEP." NOW HE SAID, START OUT PRAYING, LORD, I WAS IN DISTRESS
AND YOU ENLARGED ME WHEN I WAS IN DISTRESS. AND HE SAID, I'LL
BOTH LAY ME DOWN IN PEACE AND I'LL SLEEP. I'LL LAY DOWN IN
PEACE. PEACE WITH GOD, PEACE IN MY MIND,
PEACE WITH MY ENEMIES, PEACE WITH MY SOUL AND I'LL SLEEP. I WILL SLEEP AND NOTHING WILL
WAKE ME UP, NOTHING WILL BOTHER ME." AND HE SAYS, FOR THY LORD
ONLY MAKES ME TO DWELL IN SAFETY. YOU ARE THE ONE THAT MAKES ME
TO DWELL IN SAFETY. HE CAN LAY DOWN AND SLEEP AND
SLEEP IN PEACE AND NOTHING WOULD DISTURB HIM. AND OH, LOOK OVER
HERE IN DEUTERONOMY 33 AND VERSE 12 WITH ME JUST A MINUTE. OH,
GOD MAKES US SAFE. I REMEMBER YEARS AGO, You know,
you fellows do what you want to do about it. But a man offered me a gun. And
he offered me a place. He got one of these books, you
know, you had a place cut out in and you'd carry that. It was
a pistol. And you could carry it in a book
in your car, you know, and it had a little pistol just lay
in that book and looked like a book. And you'd open it up
and you'd reach in there and get a gun out. He said, now I'll give you that.
If you'll carry that in your car to protect you and your wife,
and if you're ever in a motel, somebody tries to break in, you'll
have some protection. I said, if the Lord don't keep
me, a gun ain't gonna do me no good. And I believe that to this
day. I know a lot, I know preachers,
I know preachers that carry .357s with them in their car, right
beside them when they get in their car. And they know how
to use them, wouldn't be afraid to use them. But I'm not gonna
do that. You know why? Because the Lord
maketh me lay down in peace and safety. And if He chooses me
to go by some idiot, that's just the way I'll go. I can't help
it. You know, I can't help it. That's
the way God made me. If the Lord, listen, They went
after, you know how many people, they hunted Wycliffe down for
years like a partridge and never did get him. They hunted Martin
Luther down and the Pope said the first day, we're going to
kill this man and he died an old man. And you know how many
people went after David. They had Saul and all his army
went after David. They'd throw javelins at him,
never did hit him. And they go, well, we got him
in his, we got him fixed up now. He'll never get out of here.
No, David just slipped right through. Oh, listen, Lord takes care of
his people. And that's what David's saying
here, said, I'm going to lay me down in peace. Wherever I'm
at, whether it's in Mexico, whether it's in California, whether it's
in Canada, or whether it's in Nashville, Tennessee, or in my
bed at home, I'm gonna lay down in peace and go sleep. Huh? And I'm gonna sleep. The only thing that'll take my
sleep from me, and we'll get over that in a minute, But the
Lord makes us lay down, because the Lord keepeth me in safety. But look what he said here in
verse 12 of Deuteronomy 33. He says, The beloved of the Lord,
and of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell
in safety by him, and the Lord shall cover him all the day long,
and he shall dwell. between his shoulders. In other
words, God said, he's going to dwell right here, between his
shoulders. He's going to dwell right here. That's where he's
going to dwell. And he that dwelt under the shadow
of the Almighty, he shall dwell in safety. God hideth under his
wings. Oh, listen, nothing's going to
disturb him. He's free, he's glad, he's safe.
And all of the Lord's people are. And I tell you, look what
else He said about Him in verse 3. He is one of God's elect. He is one of God's chosen. Here
is Psalm 4 and verse 3. But know that the Lord has set
Him apart. Know that the Lord has set Him
apart that is godly for Himself. God set us apart. God Himself
said, this is mine, I'm going to set Him aside. And you know
here it says, if He set Him apart for Himself, you know that? The Lord set Him apart that is
godly, listen to this, for Himself. For Him to be mine, to belong
to me. He is mine, I set Him apart for
myself. I'll be their God, they shall
be my people." Now, He doesn't set them apart because they are
godly. They become godly when He sets
them apart. Because He sets them apart, and
the Scriptures tells us, and they don't contradict one another,
that He hath sanctified us through the belief of the truth and the
Spirit. And so, He don't set us apart
because we're godly. We become godly after He sets
us apart. You cannot be in God and not
be righteous. And set apart for himself. And
oh, to be set apart for God. God said he's mine. Set apart
for himself. And love having predestinated
us under the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself. Then
look what else he said here about David. Or some things. He gives
some warnings against unbelievers. Look what he said here in verse
2. Oh, this is This is where we're
at now. Oh, you sons of men, how long
will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love vanity
and seek after leasing? You know, these sons of men,
he said, how long, oh, you sons of men? They are guilty of three
sins in this one verse here. Unbelieving sons of men. It's
as if our Lord Jesus Christ Himself says, Oh you sons of men, how
long will you do this? How long will you act this way?
As if Christ was in the temple speaking to the unbelievers,
speaking to the religious, speaking to those men and women. Look what I said, how long will
you turn my glory into shame? And oh my, take the glory of
God, the glory of Christ, the glory of His Word, the glory
of His salvation, the glory of His grace, and instead of saying
that is glorious, turn that over here into shame. And that's what
He's talking about. I'll show you two things about
it. Look over in 1st Romans chapter 1. You know, that's what our
Lord Jesus Christ, or in Exodus, He says there about the Lord
Jesus. You know God that he himself said this is my glory That I'll
have mercy upon whom I'll have mercy show me your glory And
that's what old Moses won't seize glory and when I Lord Jesus Christ
was on the Mount of Transfiguration they beheld his glory as the
glistening of White like the sun, they saw the glory of Moses,
saw the glory of Elijah. And they said, you're going to
turn my glory, how long will you turn my glory into shame?
And look what he said here, this is where we're at. Look in verse
22, professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. Oh, how many people today profess
themselves to be wise. They got the best educations,
they're professors, they're academics, they're big shots in the government,
big shots in religion. And even the Pope put it out
that evolution and climate change is the things that we have to
face now. Professing themselves to be wise,
they just prove that they're fools. How do you know they're
fools? They changed the glory of the
incorruptible God into an image. What did he look like when they
made him? They made him like the corruptible man. Man in his
free will, man in his power, man in his rights, man in his
abilities, man in his gifts, man in his wealth, man in his
glory. Come and hear what so-and-so's
got to say. Give them tens of thousands of
dollars to stand up and lie to you. And they made them like
birds, four-footed beasts, creeping things. Wherefore God also gave
them up to uncleanness through the lust of their own hearts
to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. who change, listen to this, who
change the truth of God into a lie. Change God's truth into
a lie. Take the truth of God and turn
it into a lie. They take light, when we say
it's light, they say that, your light is dark, darkness does.
They'll say, oh, this is so sweet to us. They say, oh, that's so
bitter. GOD IS HATED AND DESPISED AND REJECTED IN HIS OWN WORLD
AND THEY TURNED THE TRUTH OF GOD INTO A LIE. AND THEY WORSHIPED AND SERVED
THE CREATURE. DO YOU KNOW THAT THEY HAD THIS
BIG GAY PARADE IN NEW YORK CITY AND A LATE YEAR OLD BOY His mother
dressed him up in a little old tutu and fixed him up, and he's
eight years old now, and he walked and marched with them. Proud,
she is proud of him. Glad for him and say, and if
God don't like it or nobody else don't like it, and one of them
had up a big sign and said, hell, it'd be a wonderful place to
be. Change the truth of God into
a lie. Change the truth of sovereign
grace into man's rights and free will. Change the glory of God
and made it down and brought it down to where men and women
say, oh, if your God's like that, I don't want nothing to do with
him. I didn't want nothing to do with him either until he willed
me to do something. And if God don't will a man to
do something, he ain't gonna do anything but sin, sin, and
sin, and going to hell, hating God with a passion. And oh, look what else he goes
on to say. And worshiped and served the creature more than
the Creator. Oh, we want to, oh, the creature.
You know, our Lord said it like this. He said, if you love your
father, your mother, your brother, sister more than me, Don't even
bother. Don't even bother. He said, you're
not worthy of me. He said, go on, you'd be like Lot's wife.
Go on, save your life. Go on, save your life. Live in
Sodom. Have your heart in Sodom. Go on, save your life, and you'll
end up losing it like she did. But if you lose your life, count
your life to be absolutely nothing in everything you ever did, but
nothing, then your life will be saved. And that's where this generation
is. They will save their life, save their rights, save their
power, save their opinions, save their glory. And the thing is
to say to heck with God, to heck with Christians, to heck with
this whole thing of religion. I don't want no part of it. Well,
and they won't have no part of it. Let me show you something
else in Hebrews chapter 10. You know, they're talking about
changing the glory of God into a lie. Look in Hebrews chapter
10 with me just a moment. And oh my, how long will you
turn my glory, in fact, men glory in that which should be their
shame. which they ought to be ashamed of, Brad. People used
to be ashamed of it. What men and women used to be
ashamed of, now they glory in it. Men and women used to hide
their... I remember when I was a young
man and when I was a young boy, I said a man would not use bad
language around people he didn't know. If he did, somebody would
call him down. They wouldn't allow it. And there was no, I mean, there's
morality in that, but there was none of this here cussing and
now that people don't even bother getting married, just live together. But oh my, but look what he said
here, Hebrews chapter 10 and verse 28. He that despised Moses'
law died without mercy under two or three witnesses." Now,
oh my, you despised what Moses had to say. You said, oh, I don't
want what Moses had to say. I want another God. I want to
worship another way. I want to go after a strange
God. I don't want to do what God said. I'm going to go over
here and worship this stone. I'm going to go over here and
worship the sun. I'm going to worship the moon. I'm going to worship
a tree. And he says, but oh, how much
sore punishment! Suppose ye he shall be thought
worthy, now listen to this, who hath trodden underfoot the Son
of God. Take the blood of Christ, take
the crucifixion of Christ, take the death of Christ, the glory
of the Son of God, Christ in His glory, Christ in His blood,
and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith He has
sanctified an unholy thing. You know what that unholy means?
Count it as nothing but common. It's no different than anybody
else's. There's nothing to it. That's
what He's saying here. and then hath done despite unto
the Spirit of grace." In spite of the Spirit of grace and what
God would have done, they trampled, they just counted common, they
counted as nothing, as nothing worth anything. And oh, he said, how long will
you turn my glory into shame? You know what they told our Lord
Jesus Christ? They said, He has a devil, He's
a winebibber, He's a blasphemer. And those men who said that,
Been in hell all this time. Look what else they said about
these men. How long will you turn my glory into shame? Verse
2 of Psalm 4. How long will you love vanity?
Love vanity. You know what vanity is? Vanity
means something that's absolutely empty, has no character, has
no value, has no substance to it at all. Vanity means that
it's empty, wanting, nothing. It has no character, no strength,
no substance to it. And that's why the preacher says,
vanity of vanities, all is vanity, says the preacher. And all love
vanity is love that which is worthless that will not satisfy
you. And I do want you to see this
over here in Philippians chapter 2 with me. Just a minute. I don't
mean to wear these things out, but I want to see this here in
Philippians 2 and verse 3. Loving vanity. People love vanity. And when it's all said and done,
what is it going to be? What's it going to be? They go out here and glory in
things that just is empty, useless. Glory, vanity. Look what he said
here in Philippians 2 and verse 3. Let nothing be done through
strife or vainglory. Whatever you do, don't do it
through strife. And I tell you, if you start
glorying in anything you do, any accomplish you made, He said,
here, it's vain, it's empty, it's useless, it's nothing. That's
why David said, not unto us, not unto us, O Lord, but unto
thy name be glory for thy truth and thy mercy's sake. And all,
listen, all, nothing be done through vain glory. Uselessness,
vainglory. And then back over here another
thing that these fellas do. How long will you turn my glory
into shame? How long will you love vanity?
Love things that are just empty, worthless, nothing. And how long
will you seek after leasing? That word leasing means lying. That's what it means. How long
will you seek after lying? How long will you be a liar?
How long will you go after lies? How long will you seek lies?
And our Lord, you know, some of them said we're Abraham's
seed. He said if you were Abraham's children, you'd do the works
of Abraham. But I know you, you're of your father the devil. He's
a liar and a murderer from the beginning and you're of your
father the devil. And you're a liar like he is.
And I tell you, lying to oneself is where it starts. A person
lying to themself is where lying really starts. When a man starts
lying to himself and saying things about himself and trusting in
things about himself, he's really lying then. Huh? And I tell you, where there is
truth, where there is truth, And you go and after a lie and
seek out a lie instead of the truth, what an awful, awful sin
that is. To have truth and say, I'd rather
have the lie. To have truth and say, lie about
it. And oh, and then look at what
he says to us, me and you. Look in verse four. Stand in awe. Psalm 44, stand
in awe. Stand in awe. And sin not. Stand in awe and
sin not. Stand in awe of God. David started out the God of
my right. Stand in awe of God. That's why it says be still and
know that I am God. Let your words be few for God
is in the heavens and you're on the earth. Don't offer the
sacrifice of fools. And oh, stand in awe of God,
stand in awe of His Word, stand in awe of His Word, stand in
awe of His salvation. Oh, what a salvation! What did you do to become a sinner?
What did you do to become a sinner? You was born one. You didn't
do nothing to become a sinner. And you know you'll be saved
and have the righteousness of Christ and you don't do nothing
to get it. And that's why He's standing
off His salvation. The salvation that's by the grace
of God through His blessed Son standing off grace. Grace. Sovereign grace, free
grace, omnipotent grace, saving grace, keeping grace, eternal
grace. Stand in awe of the grace of
God. Stand in awe of the Son of God. Stand in awe of His sinlessness.
Stand in awe of His mercy. Stand in awe of His righteousness.
Stand in awe of His blessed person and His merit. He was of such
value to God himself that he could bear the sins of a multitude
that no man could bear and no man could number. And yet beloved,
he has such value that God accepted his sacrifice for every sin of
all of his elect from Adam to the last soul that ever be born. Standing off him. Stand in awe
of His mercy. Oh, stand in awe of the death
of the Son of God. He's dying there not for Himself. He's dying there not for something
He did. He's dying our death. Suffering
our death. Stand in awe. And stand in awe
of this, of your weakness and your inability. Stand in awe
of your weakness and your inability. Now, look in Psalm 33. Look in
Psalm 33, just a minute. Stand in awe. Stand in awe. Psalm 33 and verse
8, listen to this. Let all the earth fear the Lord. Let all the inhabitants of the
world stand in awe of Him. Stand with your mouth engaved
in awe. For He spake, and it was done. He commanded,
and it stood fast. Standing in awe of God and all
He's got to do is just say, and it's done. And He commanded,
say, you stand fast. I was outside last night, and
I said, Shirley, come out here. You've got to see this moon.
You've got to see this moon. And you look up there at that
moon. That moon was absolutely beautiful last night. It was
gorgeous. And it hung there, gorgeous.
I said, and we just stood there in awe of that moon for the longest
time. Talked about it. How God sets that thing on its
course every night. And then in the morning, you
know, the sun will come up. It'll go away on its course.
Why? God spake and it was done. He
said, you do this and don't you never stop. And I'll tell you something else.
I don't know where it's at right now, but He said also He commanded
salvation for us. All right, and then look back
over here in Psalm 33 with me just again, four with me, Psalm
four. Not only stand in awe and sin
not, when you stand in awe of God, oh my, and then commune
with your own heart. Verse four, commune with your
own heart upon your bed and be still. Commune with your heart. What does he mean commune with
your heart upon the bed? When you lay in bed at night,
You commune with your heart. Look and think, is my heart for
the Lord? Is my heart, is Christ the hope of glory? Meditate on
your heart. That heart that needs Christ.
That heart that God put in there. That heart that's deceitful above
all things and deathly. Commune with it. Commune with
its motives. Commune with its desires. Commune
with your heart. And oh, beloved, and I tell you
what, you know when some of our greatest battles are fought?
Laying on our beds at night. There has been some real, real
battles fought. I know some of you fought some
of the hardest battles you ever fought at night in your bed.
Ain't you? There have been some horrible
battles fought at night in your bed. Lots of thinking. Lots of struggling. Lots of seeking. Lots of worry. Lots of fretting. Lots of tears. And what are we doing? Communing
with our hearts on our bed. And what did God say? He said,
Now you just be still. And that's what will bring us
to that. No matter, when we fight that battle, then the Lord says,
Be still. Then we know it's over. It's
done. Then we can sleep. Then we can rest. Lie in quietness. And then look what he said here
in verse 5. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness
and put your trust in the Lord. Oh, how in the world can we offer
the sacrifices of righteousness? Well, first of all, we must be
made righteous. We must be made righteous. And
what's the only righteousness that we can offer? What's the
only sacrifice of righteousness which we can offer to the Lord?
Well, look with me in Hebrews 13. I'll show you. I'll show
you. Here's the sacrifices we make.
Hebrews 13. And you know, one of the writers
says we offer the sacrifices of our lips, the calves of our
lips to sacrifice the calves of our lips. But look what the
Lord said, we only offer up Christ our righteousness. That's the
only righteousness we can offer up is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. And look what he said here in
verse 13 of Hebrews, excuse me, verse 12. Wherefore Jesus, also
that he might sanctify the people, with his own blood, he suffered
outside the gate of Jerusalem. He went outside the gate. They
took him out there to his cross. So let us go forth there unto
him without the camp, without the people and all that, by ourselves,
bearing his reproach. For here we have no continuing
city, but we seek one to come. So by Him, while we're left here,
by Him, by Him, by the Lord Jesus Christ, let us offer the sacrifice
of praise to God continually. That is the fruit of our lips,
giving thanks to His name. And oh, and here's a sacrifice,
but to do good and to communicate, forget not. To do good to people,
to good to those around you, and to communicate. That word
communicate means to share, it means to give, not to talk, but
to give of your substance, to give of what you got. And look
what he says here. For with such sacrifices, God
is well pleased. Oh, beloved. Then he says, trust
in the Lord. And this is my last thing and
I'm done. Trust in the Lord. Back over here in verse five.
Trust, put your trust in the Lord. What did he say there in
Psalms 12 in chapter 2 and verse 12? He says this right down in
the last part of the verse. Blessed are all they that put
their trust in Him. Paul said it this way, I know
who, who I have believed. Psalm 62 and verse 8 and I'm
through, I'm through. Look at this, Psalm 62 and 8
talking about put your trust in the Lord. Oh, there's nothing
like trusting the Lord. No matter what comes, what goes,
what He calls us on to go through, we can trust in the Lord. We can trust Him. I can't trust
myself, but I can trust Him. You know, I don't trust me very much,
but I trust Him. But look what He said here in
Psalm 62 in verse 8. Trust in Him at all times, ye
people. Pour out your hearts before Him.
God is a refuge for us. Trust Him at all times. Oh, trust
Him when things are good? No. When things are bad? Yeah. Things are up when things are
down, whether it's night, whether it's day, when it's raining,
when it's shining, when you got good health or whether you're
laying in a hospital bed, flatter your back. Trust Him at all times. And then pour out your heart
to Him. And He said, He'll be your refuge. Oh, what a refuge, what a refuge. Oh, our blessed, blessed, blessed,
blessed Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, Lord, I do stand
in awe of you and your grace and your power and your pity.
Stand in awe of the wondrous work you undertook for a poor,
poor sinner like myself, one that has nothing, absolutely
nothing to offer, nothing to give, and yet you give me this
salvation. Keep me day in and day out. Bless
me abundantly. Give me the desires of my heart.
Upheld me all these years. Oh Lord, indeed, you're worthy
to be trust, and we do stand in awe. And God bless these dear
saints as they go home, go to their jobs, go to their, back
to their old homes, go back to their old troubles, go back to
the things that they're bothered about. God bless and strengthen
and encourage. And again for Jim and Peggy,
Lord, be merciful, be gracious, be kind, and be healing to your
glory and their good. We bless you in Christ's name.
Amen. Amen. Well, I tell you what,
I didn't think I'd take such a long time, but I did. It took
too long. But I appreciate you. God willing, I'll see you Sunday
morning, Lord willing. Good night and God bless you.
