If you would, please turn to
John chapter six. John chapter six. I know, that's one of my favorite
chapters in my favorite book in my favorite Bible. It is. Oh, there's all kind of
good stuff in John chapter six. And I'm gonna tell you something,
I'm gonna read, what, about six verses, and there's gonna be
a lot more in it than what I say today. because you can't say
it all. But God willing, I think he's
giving me a message and I'm gonna try and get it out. John chapter
six, I wanna begin reading in verse 35. And Jesus said unto them, I am
the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never
hunger. and he that believeth on me shall
never thirst. But I said unto you that ye also
have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me
shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in no wise
cast out. For I came down from heaven not
to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me. And this is the Father's will
which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me, I should
lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
And this is the will of Him that sent me, that everyone which
seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting life
and I will raise him up at the last day. And I'm gonna stop
right there. I will say this, after Jesus
said this, his audience murmured. Guess what? Maybe somebody's
murmuring at home, you never know. Because? I said it last week, grace scares
some people. And these verses are full of
the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is nothing but what he said.
And it's nothing but grace. Because what I want to show today,
we talk about it, we state it, that the sovereignty of God is
exactly like God. It's absolute. The will of God is just exactly
the same as God. It's absolute. Absolute. And I wanna speak today of the
Father's will. That's what I wanna call this,
the Father's will. I am aware that I have a will,
and you have a will. It's not a free will, but I got
one. I'm not concerned today with
my will. Well, I am sort of concerned about my will, but that's not
either here nor there. What I want to talk about is
the Father's will. The Father's will. Because this
is what Jesus Christ came to do. Who said that? He did. Jesus Christ said it. I'm not gonna make anything up.
I'm not gonna add anything in. I'm not gonna draw any conclusions
out of thin air. All I wanna do is preach what
he said. And that's enough for any man. We've mentioned it in times past
that Jesus Christ came to do the will of the Father. It's
in the scriptures. I got three or four here. John 5 and verse
30 says, I can of mine own self do nothing. As I hear, I judge. And my judgment just Because
I seek not mine own will but the will of the Father Which
hath sent me? In Galatians 1 and 4 Paul wrote
this who gave himself for our sins That he might deliver us
from this present evil world according to the will of God
and our Father. Hebrews 10, verse seven. I like
this one, because it's Paul in the New Testament quoting the
Old Testament. Hebrews 10, well here, Hebrews
10, verse five. Wherefore, when he cometh into
the world, he saith sacrifice and offering, Thou wouldest not,
but a body hast thou prepared me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices
for sin, thou hast had no pleasure, no pleasure. Then said I, lo,
I come. In the volume of the book it
is written of me, what? To do thy will, O God. Now that's Paul quoting Psalms
40. This is nothing new. The Father's
will has always been the Father's will. And here, our Lord Jesus
Christ tells us flat out, in two places, and then before and
after, this is the Father's will. And this is what I came to do. So do you wanna know? That's
my question. Do you wanna know the Father's
will? Does that prick your interest? Do you have an interest in these
things? I wanna know. I do. I'm a little nosy that
way. I like to see things. I like
to learn things. And I love to learn of what my
Jesus Christ, my Jesus Christ has said. I'm not worried about
what anybody else's Jesus Christ has said, I'm worried about this
one right here. You can have any other book you want and say
anything else you want, But this is the only book I got. These
are the only scriptures I have. And this is the word of God.
I came to do the will of my father. Verse 35, he starts off this
passage. This is all the words of Christ.
Starts it off saying, I'm the bread of life. He that cometh
unto me shall never hunger. He that believeth on me shall
never thirst. First of all, there is the bread
of life and there is no other. That's just the way it is. There
is no other bread and there is no other life. Outside, excuse
me, without this life, there's only death. Without the bread
of life, there's only death. He that comes and he that believes
are the same person. the same people. And here's the
point. There's no coming without believing. And there's no believing without
coming. You can't have one without the
other. I mean, it might for just a little bit of time. But you
understand, once you've learned of him, you're gonna come to
him. What's that mean? This bread
of life, the bread of life, satisfies. You understand, once you consume
the bread of life, once Jesus Christ is inside of you, like
those Jews ate the Passover lamb, you understand, you had to eat
it. You didn't just cook it and leave it there and look at it.
You didn't make a plaster cast out of it and coat you up and
make you a golden statue of a lamb, no. You cooked that lamb and
you took it inside yourself. Once Jesus Christ is inside of
you, you will never hunger or thirst for another Christ. for another Christ. I'm not saying
you won't doubt. I'm not saying you won't be depressed.
I'm not saying anything of the kind. But here's the point, you're
gonna know him and you're gonna know no one else will do. Now
whether or not you know him, that's a cause for your doubt.
But here's the thing, I never doubt him. I can doubt myself
all day long. And I have, I try not to. Because
I trust him. The bread of life satisfies the
hungry and thirsty sinner. Sinner. Now isn't that great? Isn't that glorious? Gracious? Yes it is. So what does Jesus Christ say
next? But I said unto you, that ye have also seen me and believe
not. You just went from all the hunger,
you're not gonna hunger, you're not gonna thirst. Well, that's
if you ate the bread of life. That's if you know the bread
of life. There are some that have seen him, but they don't
know he's the bread of life. Even though he said it with his
own mouth. We were talking to Walter on
the phone yesterday, it's like, he made a statement. Never underestimate
the depravity of man. That's what that is. That's what
that is. These Jews had God manifest in
the flesh. I can't get over this. And I'm
not supposed to. Had God manifest in the flesh.
And I'm gonna tell you something else. Not only did they see him,
they heard him. He preached the purest, most
perfect, most beautiful, most truthful gospel that has ever
been preached. And then they take up stones
to stone him. Never underestimate the depravity of man. I mean,
that's possibly the most damning statement that's ever been written.
You've seen me and you don't believe. That's damning. And I mean that
in the biblical sense. Some people might think I'm cussing. They had seen Jesus and didn't
believe him. Because they had seen Jesus and
they had missed the bread of life. They had missed Christ,
even though they saw Jesus. They had missed Christ, even
though they heard Jesus. They had missed Christ, even
though the gospel had been preached to them. I find that amazing. And that's what he follows up.
I'm the bread of life. He that's got me will never hunger
and will never thirst. But you see me and you don't
believe. You understand there's a difference
between the people in verse 35 and the people in verse 36. And
the difference is this, the bread of life. Jesus Christ, our Lord. Because then he explains it,
verse 37. You've seen me, you believe not,
okay? Here, what's he say? All the
Father giveth me. All the Father giveth me shall
come to me. And him that cometh to me I will
in no wise cast out. Now that is another great, gracious,
and glorious statement. Because it starts off with who? The father. The father. Christ was always about his father's
business. That's what he told his mother
when he was 12 years old. And they found him in the temple.
They thought he was with them. He was still in the temple confounding
the doctors. Now it's not medical doctors,
it was doctors of law. Who's, the law of Moses, the
law of God. They'd studied all their lives
and here's a 12 year old boy telling them what's what. Or
who's who. And guess what, they didn't get
it either. Because if they had, they wouldn't
have let him go. They'd have paid Joseph and Mary
to stay there so the kid could. But they didn't know what they
had. They didn't know what they were doing. But guess what? Our Lord Jesus
Christ did. Jesus was 12 years old. He was
about his father's business. What's he here? He's about his
father's business. He says, all the father gives
me shall come to me. Oh, can I say that word now? All that the father gives me?
Election. Bruce Priest on a Friday, did
a real good job. I love that definition of, and
I know it, and I probably have said something to that effect,
but it hit me really hard when he said it. The perfect definition
for election is in Romans 11. He says, I have reserved unto
myself 7,000 that have bowed the knee to Baal. That's it. That's election. I have reserved
unto myself. And you know what? He gave them
to his son. In the Old Testament. He gave
them to his son, but I've reserved 7,000. That's just beautiful. And guess what? Everyone the
father chose, the father gives to the son. He chose them in
the son. They were chosen in him before the foundation of
the world, but then they're given. They're given. And the father gives those people
to his son, Whoever they are, whenever they are, in the Old
Testament, now in the New Testament times, and now, no different. And guess what? They shall come
to the bread of life. They're gonna come to me. You
understand? They're gonna come to me. This
is talking about people. This is talking about his people. And his people come to Him. The Father gives and they shall
come. Now is there any doubt in that
statement? Is there any qualifier in that statement? No, the Father
gives and they shall come. Now where's my part in it? You
ain't got no part. I ain't got no part. He gives,
they come. And yes, it is that simple. And yes, people hate that just
like election. It's amazing how that works. And I'm gonna tell you this,
this includes us. All that the Father gives shall
come to the Son. Every single one. Now, they don't
come to the church They don't come to the preacher. They don't
come to the doctrine. They come to Him. All that the
Father giveth me shall come to me. To who? To God manifest in
the flesh, to the bread of life, to He who is the way, the truth,
and the life. And I will in no wise cast out. You understand, I wrote it right
here. There is eternal security in Jesus Christ. You understand? The Father gives,
they come to the Son, and I will never, ever cast them out. Now, who will he never cast out?
Those that were given to him by the Father. Who will he never
cast out? Those that come to him. I mean, this is not rocket science. This is not difficult. It's in,
well, in my Bible, it's in black and white. If you got a words
in Christ, it's in red and white. But it doesn't matter, it's written
down in English. And this ain't those these thousand
those and the hard stuff and righteousness and justification,
no big terms. This is just flat talking from
the Lord of glory, from Jesus Christ, from our master. I believe him. He will never
cast out one that the father gave to him, not one. He will
never cast out One that has come to him. If they come to him,
you gotta come to him. No other bread of life will do
because there is no other bread of life. I am the bread of life. Then we get to the heart of the
matter here. John six and verse 38 says this, for I came down
from heaven not to do mine own will, but the will of him that
sent me. He came down from heaven. I'm wondering why they didn't
get real upset about that. They're upset about everything else. He came down from heaven. John
says it, the word. was with God from the beginning.
And the word was God. From the beginning. And there
was nothing made that was made without this work. Jesus Christ. I came though, to do the will
of Him that sent me. I didn't come to do my own will.
Now, Walter and I did talk about this a little bit yesterday,
too, and he gave me a really good quote from W.E. Best. I
wrote it down here, and I'll give it to you in a minute, but
just wanna say it flat out from the beginning. There's no difference
between the will of Jesus Christ and the will of the Father. It's
not two different wills. Because, here's the way best
put it, there is a distinction shown here in priority of position,
not in inferiority of nature. It's not that Jesus Christ and
the Father are separated. They're one. They're one. I and
my Father are one. But, Christ said, I came down. He took upon him the form of
a servant. He was made a little lower than
the angels. So in position, he was here and
the Father's here. But in their will, they're right
there together. And it's up here above us. There's a distinction. but it
has nothing to do with Christ, Jesus was not inferior to God.
Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh. This is my beloved
Son in whom I am well pleased. And hear him, hear him, hear
him, what's he say? I came to do my Father's will. There was no, there was no, there
is no, and there never shall be any dissension between the
Father and the Son's will. Jesus Christ willingly did this
and willingly agrees with the Father's will. And the Father's
will is this, not to cast out any that I gave to my son. You
understand? You think you can be saved and
you think you can be lost again? You deal with this. You deal
with him. You don't have to deal with me, because you can't. Because
this is what I want. This is what I need, because
if I can lose myself, I would do it. If it was up to me, I'd
already done it and I wouldn't be here. But it's not up to me. He's never cast me out. Oh, I
love that. I love that. Carries on, and this is the Father's
will. Now as I said, I came to do not
my will, but his. So what is his will? This is
it. You got any questions? Don't worry, Christ has answered
them. This is my Father's will which
hath sent me that of all which he has given me I should lose
nothing. And by that he means absolutely
nothing. But should raise it up again
at the last day. This is the Father's will. All
he gave me, I'll lose nothing. Nothing. Now what's he talking
about? The context, he's talking about
people. That's what he's talking about, folks. He's not talking
about losing your car keys. Jesus Christ did not lose the
keys to the universe. He didn't lose anything. But
here he's talking about people. What, he that hungers, never
thirst. Never hunger, never thirst. He
that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. He's talking
about his people, all that the Father gave me. I love that. I'll say it again. There is eternal security, I'll
say it a different way, in the Father's will. In the Father's
will. See, a lot of people might talk
trash about Jesus, but ain't nobody wanna talk about, oh,
no, God, no, it's God. I can't say nothing against God.
Jesus Christ is God. If you're talking bad about Jesus
Christ, if you're denigrating His work and the Father's will,
you're denigrating the Son. And guess what? That Father up
in heaven thinks mighty highly of His Son. You understand, the Father said,
if you bad mouth Jesus, you're bad mouthing me. Christ said the same thing. He
meant I and my Father are one. This is the will of the Father. All which he hath given me I
should lose nothing. Not one person that the father
has given to the son will ever be lost. And I use that word
on purpose because he said, I shall lose nothing. And I've heard
it, you've heard it. You say, you're lost. You say,
you're lost. Those people aren't reading the
scriptures. And if they're reading them, they're not believing them.
I said it the other day and I'll say it again. Everybody believes the Bible
until you read it to them. And I've started thinking about
saying this. I could make somebody not believe the Bible. How? By reading it to them. I believed the Bible until he
read that. That's what it comes down to. Because you read it
to them and they say, well I don't believe that. Ta, that was my
whole point. I know you don't believe that,
but it's here. The words of our Lord Jesus Christ
has said that he's gonna lose nothing that, well now here's
the point, that the Father gave him. Now a lot of people may say they've
been saved and lost and saved and lost, but basically what
they have actually been is lost and lost and lost and lost. Just
a question of whether or not they was in church. because all the Father gave to
him will never be lost. Never! I will in no wise cast
out. And here's the thing, not only
will he not lose them, I'm gonna raise them up the last day. That's
a better resurrection. That's a better resurrection.
But Hebrew says, We're gonna be raised up to a better resurrection.
And this is the thing, I like this part where he says, I will
raise them up. Some people gonna be raised,
but it ain't gonna be up. Ours is a better resurrection
if the Father has given you to the Son and you have come to
Him. And that's what it says. It's
all the same thing. Verse 40, and this is the will
of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth
on him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up
at the last day. You understand? Jesus liked this
so much, he said it twice. And you know why? To give some
people the chance to deny it twice. To other people, give them a
chance to rejoice in it twice. We get to rejoice in this every
day. I'm looking forward to being raised up. I'm not looking forward
to the dying part necessarily. I do sometimes agree with Kenny
Rogers, the best thing that can happen is you go when you sleep. But oh, this raising up, I want. I want this raising up. I want
this raising up. And he's promised it to me twice.
Here in two verses. It's in other places too. I mean,
it's all over the Bible. But here it is, Jesus Christ.
And you know what, I'm gonna tell you something, when he gets
finished with this, there are those that had seen him and heard
him and still didn't believe him. But thank God it's not me. Thank God it's not me. because
those who come to Christ will be raised up at the last day
because of the Father's will. Ain't that glorious? I'm glad
he came to do the Father's will. This is the will of the Father
who sent me. Everyone, everyone, everyone which sees the Son and believes
on him has everlasting life. Isn't that great? Isn't that
grace? Don't get these people here in
verse 40 confused with these people here in verse 36. Those
who have seen and believe not. What's the difference between
verse 40 and verse 36? Well, you'll find it in the middle.
All that the Father gave to me. What? What's the difference between
those in 36 and verse 40? The Father's will. That's all
I got. That's the difference. Now, our
Lord Jesus Christ came to what? To do, to do the will of the
Father. to do the will of my father,
to do the will of his father. He told us when we pray, we say,
our father, who art in heaven. We get to call him father, and
Jesus is our elder brother. And he's not ashamed to call
us his brethren. Why? Because of the father's
will. The father's will. Because those
in 36, they see, but they don't believe. And because they don't
believe, they don't come. You see, you don't even have
to say they don't come, because they don't believe. But he that
seeth the Son and believeth on him, what? He shall come. And
you know why? Because the Father gave him to
the Son. Oh, they see, they believe, and
they come. and they have everlasting life.
Not that they get everlasting life, they have everlasting life. And I will raise him up at the
last day. That's all it says. You understand? It doesn't say if you continue,
I'll raise you up. It doesn't say if you endure
to the end, I'll raise you up. Although you will continue and
you will endure to the end. But that's not what he's speaking
to here. He's speaking of the Father's will. Now you're continuing
and you're enduring is also because of the Father's will. Because
he will put it in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. And I'm gonna tell you something,
seeing Jesus Christ and believing Jesus Christ is a good pleasure
of the Father. It's a good pleasure of the Son,
and it's the work of the Holy Ghost in you. Yes, you will continue, and yes,
you will endure, because the Son came to do the Father's will. And I'm gonna tell you, some
of that will, the Father's will that the Son is doing, He's doing
it in you. He's doing it in you. I mean,
there are things that God has done for us, there are things
that Christ has done to us, and there is work that they have
done in us. Father, Son, and Spirit. He is,
the Holy Spirit was sent and the Holy Spirit, he's with you
and he shall be in you. What are you talking about? I'm
talking about Christ in you, the hope of glory. What? I'll raise him up at the
last day. Talk about a complete salvation. You gotta hear in six verses. And I saw this, and I wasn't
even looking for it. But I wanna show you something
cool about the Father's will here in these six verses. You look at verse 36, and I've
already said it. You see the total depravity of
man. Ye also have seen me, and believe not. Now, look at verse 37, and you
see unconditional election. All that the Father giveth me. You understand, that's the only
qualifier there. It's got nothing to do with what you do, where
you are, or what you are. All it has to do with is what
the God of all glory has done with you. He's given you to his
son. In verse 38, you can see after
a form, limited atonement or particular redemption. Why? Because I came down from heaven
not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And that was all that he gives
to me is gonna come to me. And of course in verse 37, you
see irresistible grace. because all the Father giveth
me shall come to me. And then you'll see the perseverance
of the saints, most of all, because you'll see that in verse 35,
37, 39, and 40. And I love that. You're gonna
never hunger and you're gonna never thirst if you have the
bread of life. And I will in no wise cast out
any that came to me that were given to me of the Father, In
verse 39, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again
at the last day. In verse 40, he that seeth the
sun and believeth on him may have what everlasting life. You know, if you can lose it,
it didn't last very long. What are our lives? Just a poof.
Vapor in the wind, a flower in the field, Four or five days,
the petals fall off and you have a weed. You understand? The Father's
will here is plain and it's clear and it's preached by His Son. The Father's will is the complete
salvation of His people. From beginning to the last day. And guess what? Everything in
the middle. You understand, there's a lot
of people, they like the beginning, they like the end, but they think
the middle's up to us. No, please God no. I don't want any part of my salvation
to be up to me. And I'm not gonna have my salvation
up to you. Nothing personal, folks. You understand, I know
enough about me to be worried about you. And you don't want your salvation,
any of your salvation to depend upon me. I can guarantee you
that. Salvation from the beginning
to the last day is the Father's will. And that is what our Lord
Jesus Christ came to do, to do. He didn't come so that you could
help him do it. He's not asking for anybody's
help in these six verses. He's telling you what you're
gonna do, but he's the one that says, I'm here to do my Father's
will. Now I'm not come so that you
can do my Father's will. That's the way a lot of people
seem to preach this. Jesus Christ doesn't need anybody's help.
Jesus Christ has never asked for any man's help. Jesus Christ
puts in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. The Father gives us to his Son
and we come to the Son. And he will keep us, he will
raise us up at the last day because the Son came to do the Father's
will, and that's the Father's will. Here's another stubborn
statement. Jesus Christ did and does the
Father's will or not. Or not. And I believe that Jesus
Christ did, is doing, and shall always do his Father's will. Lo, I come in the volume of the
book. It's written to me. I come to
do thy will, O God. And thank God for it. Thank God
for him. Our father, we are thankful again
for this time and this place that you, who do all things well,
sent your son to do your will, to give a people to him, and
he shall lose nothing. He shall lose no one, not one
soul, not one sheep escapes from the good shepherd. Thank you,
Lord. In Christ's name we ask, we pray,
