What does the Bible say about praising the Lord?

The Bible commands all nations to praise the Lord for His merciful kindness and enduring truth.

In Psalm 117, we see a clear command to praise the Lord, extending to all nations and peoples. This command underscores God's sovereign authority as the only one worthy of praise. The act of praising isn’t merely a suggestion but a duty rooted in the recognition of God’s mercy and kindness. The psalm encapsulates the essence of how creation itself owes its existence to God, who is the self-existent Yahweh, deserving of our utmost reverence and adoration.

Moreover, while the world may not fully understand this call to praise, it is an essential aspect of the Christian faith. We are reminded that God's merciful kindness, while offered universally through common grace, is especially given to those in Christ. Therefore, our praise is not just an acknowledgment of His attributes but a reflection of our relationship with Him, rooted in His loving kindness and truth.

Psalm 117

How do we know God's merciful kindness is true?

God's merciful kindness is evident through His perpetual love and faithfulness, as seen throughout scripture.

The truth of God’s merciful kindness is substantiated in the scripture, as it speaks of His faithful love toward His people. Psalm 119:88 states, 'quicken me after thy loving kindness,' illustrating that God's kindness is not only merciful but is foundational to our spiritual life and sustenance. Additionally, Jeremiah 31:3 declares, 'I have loved thee with an everlasting love,' which affirms that God’s love does not wane or falter.

In the context of reformed theology, we understand this kindness to be part of God’s covenantal love towards His elect, who experience this kindness in a profound and saving way. By examining biblical narratives and promises throughout scripture, we witness God’s unwavering commitment to His people, reinforcing the trustworthiness of His merciful character. Hence, God’s kindness is not static but active, continuously demonstrated through His providential dealings in our lives.

Psalm 119:88, Jeremiah 31:3

Why is understanding God's truth important for Christians?

Understanding God's truth is vital as it shapes our faith and guides our lives according to His will.

God's truth is foundational for the Christian faith, as it serves as the lens through which we view reality and understand our relationship with Him. Psalm 40:10 reflects the importance of proclaiming God's righteousness and faithfulness, which are anchored in His unchanging truth. Acknowledging God's truth enables believers to navigate a world filled with falsehood and confusion.

In Reformed theology, God's truth is revealed through Scripture and culminated in Christ, who is the embodiment of truth. This understanding not only encourages us to rely on God's faithful promises but also compels us to live in accordance with His will. By comprehending divine truth, Christians can experience profound transformation as we become more aligned with God's purposes for our lives. Ultimately, embracing God's truth fosters a deeper relationship with Him, guiding us towards holiness and assurance in His sovereign plan.

O praise the Lord, all ye nations.
Praise him, all ye peoples. For his merciful kindness is
great to the Lord God. And the truth of the Lord endureth
forever. Praise the Lord. I think there's a message here.
Hopefully, I will relate it to you. Now, I came upon this, and I regret it and it struck me. First of all,
ladies and gentlemen, This is not a request. This is
a command. God does not make this request. As such, this is something the world doesn't know and something
the world will never know. Our God, as God is in the heavens, doesn't make it. God has the right, the power, He is the only one who is worthy
of this praise. Now, me standing up here, I might ask you about it. But this word, praise, means to praise,
to be a fanatic, to be a fanatic, to boast. Their car they got made into
a wagon, like a Conestoga wagon. Why? Because that's where their car is. The song, whoever the song is, This is a self-existent Yahweh,
Jehovah, capital L, capital O, capital R, capital V. And that's
a different word. When you see this capital L in your ORD, it
means Yahweh. Y-W-E-H, Jehovah, the Yahweh. And that's a program. When you press that little button,
it says Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh. The end. But here in this first verse... Gentile nation. Everyone should praise the Lord. There is no exception, because
everything owes us existence. By Him, all things exist. But this word, people, I look at, This is the way it was delineated.
There were Jews and there were not the Jews. Verse two, we have this word
for, which is a conjunction, but it also means this letter there. It says, for, to, merciful. Now here's
one more. Merciful, kind. Now there are many, Right here, the saw must be narrowing
it down. His merciful kindness is possessed by him. It belongs to him. His merciful kindness, though,
is toward... There it goes. And there is the
sun. This whole world enjoys the mercy
of God. There is a mercy towards this
whole world. The rain falls on the just and
the unjust alike. Take a breath. That breath is
good. God gave it to you. And he may not give it to you. That saved Mark Whittaker. He'll elect refugees, whichever. But there is a mercy for this
world. But that does not mean that all
mercies are given to us for this merciful time. Because I believe in this context. Praise ye the Lord, all of the
nations, even the Gentile nations, and praise Him, all ye people
of the congregation. This reward goes to you, Grace,
not to others. Because the word I have said is translated here, merciful kindness, is translated in other
places, loving kindness. And there is something really specific about this loving kindness. It's merciful. Psalm 119, verse 88, it says,
quicken me after thy loving kindness. So shall I keep Jeremiah 31 verse 3 says, The
Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved
thee with an everlasting love. Yea, yea, I will be proselytized
unto thee in righteousness and in judgment. The overwhelming use of this word in the scriptures Damn. Outside of him, there is only
error, and lies, and heresy, and blasphemy. You will hear this at your door. And you don't even have to turn
on the television. You don't have to turn on the radio. All you have to do is go to school. Go to Walmart.
Go to work. That's why I like to spin around. And his truth is what? Is his
truth the truth? I have this really. Oh my god, they're hungry. The New Testament does not deny
the original. The New Testament shows us, shows us the fulfillment There are people who are going
to, when they see Jesus, oh, The law was our schoolmaster's
undoing. But it also says, after that
faith has come, we are no longer undoing. Now, the schoolmaster didn't
die, and the schoolmaster didn't go away. The schoolmaster's still
right here. The Father, the Son, and the
Spirit are one. Our Lord is one Lord. We use the word triune God sometimes,
and it's actually a good word, because what it means is Trinity
and unity. Those are the words. These three
are one, and there are those Yeah, probably. Here's the point. Here's what
the world doesn't know, and here's what the world cannot know. Psalm
40, verse 10. It says, I have not hid thy righteousness
within my heart. I have declared thy faithfulness
and thy salvation. I have not concealed thy loving
kindness and thy faithfulness. and thy truth continually. Merciful
kindness, loving kindness, and the truth. Now that was David, right? We have been given Christ as
our life. We are continuing today because
of his loving heart. We are his workmates. Until his work. Until his work. He continues. God's loving kindness. There
is no loving kindness without His truth. There is no truth. You want to know what the glory
is? You want to know what the phrase
God is? Phrase the Lord. Glory in this,
that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord. Yahweh,
Adonai. Which exercise does God does that? The Word says exercise. The Word is accomplished. May create judgment, righteousness. Maybe that's what's wrong.
