What does the Bible say about God's secrets?

The Bible reveals that God has kept secrets about His kingdom, which are disclosed to His elect through revelation.

According to Scripture, God has a purpose in keeping certain mysteries hidden from the wise and prudent but has chosen to reveal them to others. For example, in Matthew 13:10-17, Jesus explains to His disciples that they are given knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom, while those who are spiritually blind remain in ignorance. This highlights God's sovereignty in revealing His secrets to those He chooses, emphasizing the idea that true understanding of God comes not from human wisdom but from divine revelation.

Matthew 13:10-17, Hebrews 1:1-2

How do we know the doctrine of election is true?

The doctrine of election is grounded in Scripture, where God chooses individuals for salvation according to His sovereign will.

The truth of the doctrine of election can be firmly established through various biblical passages. Ephesians 1:4-5 highlights that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, demonstrating His sovereign will in determining who will be saved. Additionally, Romans 8:28-30 speaks of the golden chain of redemption, where those He foreknew He also predestined. This establishes the teaching that salvation is not based on human effort or merit, but solely on God's gracious choice, firmly embedded in His divine purpose.

Ephesians 1:4-5, Romans 8:28-30

Why is understanding God's revelation important for Christians?

Understanding God's revelation is crucial for Christians as it confirms the truth of salvation and strengthens faith in God's promises.

For believers, grasping the significance of God's revelation means understanding not just the mystery of salvation but also the assurance that comes from God's promises. As noted in 1 Corinthians 2:7-10, God reveals His wisdom to those whom He has chosen. This revelation shapes believers' faith, providing a firm foundation for trust in God's purpose and plan. Furthermore, being aware of the mysteries of the kingdom helps Christians navigate their spiritual walk, assuring them of their inclusion in God's redemptive work and encouraging them to share the gospel confidently with others.

1 Corinthians 2:7-10, Colossians 1:25-27

What is the hope of believers according to the Bible?

The hope of believers is rooted in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal life.

Believers' hope is described in 1 Peter 1:3-5, where it states that God, in His abundant mercy, has given us a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This hope signifies not only assured eternal life but also the inheritance reserved in heaven, which cannot perish or fade. As Christians, this hope cultivates resilience and motivation to live according to His will, knowing they are kept by the power of God through faith until salvation is fully realized at Christ's return. This anticipation shapes the believer's identity and purpose in the present age.

Welcome, friends, to another
broadcast of Morsels for Zion's Poor. One of the hardest things
that we are ever asked to do is to keep a secret. God is not
a man that He should have any difficulty in this regard, however,
as the Scripture indicates that He has kept a secret for many
generations and ages without divulging it. Actually, once
a secret is shared with anyone by the originator of the secret,
it is no longer a mystery except to those who have not been let
in on it. The agnostic says that nothing can really be known about
God. He is right in one sense because no one in and by themselves
can discover the things which we need to know about Him, except
by revelation or the telling of the secret by Him who knows
it. So while God has indeed revealed his whole counsel to some, the
scripture says that he has hid them from the wise and prudent,
that is, those who are satisfied with the knowledge they already
possess. One of the reasons that he said he taught in parables
was so that the mysteries of his kingdom might be revealed
to his own people, yet remain a secret to others, even as the
Lord told his disciples. He answered and said unto them,
Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the
kingdom of heaven, But to them it is not given. For whosoever
hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance.
But whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even
that he hath. Therefore I speak to them in
parables, because they seeing see not, and hearing they hear
not, neither do they understand. So we see the wisdom and power
of God revealed in his ability to make things plain and open
to those who have been given eyes to see and ears to hear,
and yet to keep them hidden from those who will not see nor come
to him for help, as he told the Pharisees, and ye will not come
to me, that ye might have life. God has in the present age, called
the latter days and the scriptures, purpose to unfold the mysteries
of his kingdom to his people, that is the elect, in a way and
with completeness that he never did in times past, that is which
the scriptures refer to as the former times. God who at sundry
times and divers manners spake in times past unto the fathers
by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his
Son. The children of God in the present
time are doubly blessed people, not just to be chosen by Him,
but to live in the age wherein He has unfolded that secret which
He did not fully reveal even to His elect in former times,
that is, before Christ came into the world born of a woman. Unlike
the prophets of old, or even the angels for that matter, we
are not left to wonder about the purpose of God and the manner
in which He would bring redemption for His people. He has let them
in on the secret. In the unfolding of God's purpose
in the preaching of Christ, we can now see clearly that number
one, the living Christ indwelling His children is their sole hope
of glory. It is only by being made a new
creature that any man may enter into the kingdom of heaven. Number
two, there is no difference between Jew and Gentile insofar as the
kingdom of heaven is concerned. No man is accepted by God on
the basis of natural birth or heritage. Number three, God will
ultimately save all of his elect, even gathering his remnant from
among the children of Israel, though they be in apparent darkness
at the present time. The Lord will gather his people
from all nations of the earth, every kindred, tribe, and tongue.
Number four, the gospel which is preached in the power of the
Holy Ghost is more than just words, but it is a power and
a force which cannot be resisted nor overturned. As the Lord spoke
the name of Lazarus and raised him from the dead, so the gospel
is used by him to call his sheep by name. Number five, marriage
is given to men and women to show the love of Christ for his
bride, which is his church. He laid down his life for them,
and they shall never perish. And finally, all of the elect
shall not taste physical death, but all will be transformed into
the likeness of Christ, whether alive or dead, at the last trump. Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy
hath begotten us again to a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled,
and that fadeth not away reserved in heaven for you, who are kept
by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed
in the last time. Have you known the secret of
God, which is clearly revealed in the preaching of Jesus Christ
and Him crucified? There is no other name under
heaven whereby we must be saved. For a free CD containing 15 of
