A pastor friend justified his support of Billy Graham with the fact that Spurgeon had D.L. Moody preach in his pulpit. Two lessons are learned here:

  1. We cannot justify ourselves nor our deeds by the fact that someone else had done, or is doing, the same thing. We ought to learn from the errors of others, not imitate them.
  1. An imitation is always inferior to the original! Spurgeon himself said, “When we imitate a man, we generally imitate his weaknesses, not his strength; for our nature is drawn to the weaker part of the man.”
