Polycarp (AD 69-155) was an elder of the church at Smyrna. Irenaeus and Tertullian record that Polycarp was a disciple of John, the Apostle. Polycarp is regarded as one of three early post apostolic church leaders, along with Clement of Rome and Ignatius of Antioch.
