Notes

Track seven, and it is a duet, two voices in the same pew sharing the same quiet ache. Preacher Bingo is the lightest-sounding song on the album and one of the saddest underneath, because the joke is real. You sit down with your Bible, hoping for a spark, something cutting, something true, and instead the bingo card in your mind starts filling in. That church down the street again. Another man who ain't saved at all. I'm just a preacher too. Same beats, same refrain.

I have sat in that pew. The song is not mocking preaching - it is grieving a particular kind of sermon, the kind where the Gospel feels forgotten underneath the fight. A scoreboard of other people's failures is not the Good News. It is fast talk, loud shots, but no grace in the frame. And a hungry soul can sit under that for years and slowly starve.

But notice the song refuses to curdle into cynicism, and that matters to me. By the last chorus the singer is laying down my card. He stops keeping score on the preacher, because that scorekeeping is the same disease, just pointed the other way. The closing line is the prayer the whole song was reaching for - still praying for the Sunday where the Gospel sings once more. Not a complaint. A hope. The bingo card goes in the trash and the heart keeps waiting for Christ to be preached.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Bible in my hand as I drop into the pew,
Hoping for a spark, something cutting, something true.
But he leads with that church down the street again,
And the bingo card in my mind starts filling in.
Another tale of someone he says “ain’t saved at all,”
I tick another square, yeah, I’ve heard this roll call.

[Pre-Chorus]
I’m not here to track his patterns,
I’m just craving Christ to shine…

[Chorus]
Preacher Bingo - same beats, same refrain,
Fast talk, loud shots, but no grace in the frame.
Man, I came for something more,
Just give me Christ, give me hope,
That’s what my heart is burning for.

[Verse 2]
He reminds us once again he’s “just a preacher, too,”
Like a catchphrase stuck on loop he never wants to lose.
Then a story ’bout a stranger who “ain’t walking right,”
But the Gospel feels forgotten underneath the fight.
I’m sifting through the noise for a word that sets me free,
But it’s bingo chips and echoes staring back at me.

[Pre-Chorus]
I don’t need another warning,
I need mercy breaking through!

[Chorus]
Preacher Bingo - same script, same score,
Same church down the street, same lines as before.
Yeah, I’m reaching past the noise,
Just give me Christ, give me peace,
Hope that lifts and restores.

[Bridge]
I’m not chasing perfect sermons,
Just a glimpse of life and light.
Let the grace you claim to cherish
Break the dark and make things right.
Let the message point to Jesus,
Not the failings we rehearse.
Let the Good News echo louder
Than the warnings in the verse.

[Chorus]
Preacher Bingo - but I’m laying down my card,
Looking past the shadows for the Savior in my heart.
Preacher Bingo - maybe someday he’ll see,
The Gospel’s not a scoreboard -
It’s the truth that sets us free.

[Chorus]
Preacher Bingo - but I’m laying down my card,
Looking past the shadows for the Savior in my heart.
Maybe someday he’ll see,
The Gospel’s not a scoreboard -
It’s the truth that sets us free.

[Outro]
Bible in my hand as I head out through the door,
Still praying for the Sunday
Where the Gospel sings once more.
