Can faith alone save us?

Answered in 1 source

While faith is essential for salvation, it is faith in Christ that saves, not the act of faith itself.

In historic Reformed theology, the understanding of faith is that it is a means by which we connect with Christ, who is the true source of salvation. In Mark 5, the woman's faith led her to touch Jesus, but it was not her faith that healed her; it was Christ's power that made her well. This distinction is crucial: salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the object of our faith, rather than through faith itself being a work we perform. The channels of grace are always through Christ, and He is the one who alone is capable of delivering us from sin and giving us eternal life. Therefore, while faith is necessary, it is the person and work of Christ that brings about salvation.
