Can the natural man understand spiritual things?

Answered in 1 source

No, the natural man cannot understand spiritual things as they are spiritually discerned and he is blinded by sin.

According to 1 Corinthians 2:14, the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God because they are foolishness to him. This means that without the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, a person is incapable of comprehending spiritual truths. The natural inclination of the heart is toward self and away from God, leaving individuals spiritually dead and devoid of insight into divine matters. It is only through regeneration, accomplished by the sovereign grace of God, that a person can be granted the capacity to discern and embrace spiritual realities. Thus, understanding the limitations of the natural man is critical in appreciating the necessity of divine intervention for true understanding and belief.
