How are sinners justified according to Reformed theology?

Answered in 1 source

Sinners are justified through faith alone in Christ alone, based on God's grace and the redemptive work of Jesus.

According to Reformed theology, justification is an act of God whereby He declares sinners righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. This momentous event occurs entirely by grace and is not dependent on human merit or works. As Romans 3:24 states, we are justified 'freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.' This means that our justification comes not from what we do but from what Christ has already accomplished on our behalf. Christ's obedience and sacrificial death satisfied God's justice, allowing God to justly declare believers righteous. The essence of this doctrine reminds us that our salvation hinges solely on Christ's work, freeing us from the burden of trying to earn God's favor.
