How are we held responsible for our actions if God is sovereign?

Answered in 1 source

We are responsible for our actions even though God ordains everything, as His sovereignty doesn't negate human accountability.

The belief in God's absolute sovereignty coexists with human responsibility in Scripture. While God is the first cause behind everything, as outlined in Acts 4:27-28, humans are still accountable for their actions and choices. Romans 14:12 indicates that each of us will give an account to God. This means that while God orchestrates every event, He does so in a way that holds us morally responsible for our choices. Therefore, acknowledging God's sovereignty should drive us toward obedience, not excuse disobedience.
