How can believers be both responsible citizens and dead to the world?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are called to render to Caesar what is due while ultimately prioritizing their citizenship in God's kingdom (Mark 12:17).

The Christian faith does not call for disengagement from the responsibilities of citizenship; however, it emphasizes the primary allegiance to God's kingdom over earthly interests. In Mark 12:17, Jesus instructs, 'Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.' This not only calls for lawful obedience within society but also reminds believers that their ultimate responsibility is to God. By engaging as responsible citizens while being dead to the world's distractions, Christians can navigate their earthly duties with integrity while keeping their focus on heavenly matters and Christ's mission.
