How can believers maintain confidence in their relationship with God?

Answered in 1 source

Believers maintain confidence in their relationship with God by focusing on God's promises and the work of Christ.

Confidence in our relationship with God comes from recognizing that it is founded on Christ's righteousness rather than our own. As outlined in 1 John 3:21, when our hearts do not condemn us, our confidence is toward God. This confidence is strengthened when we focus on the truth that we are in Christ, whose perfect sacrifice assures us of our standing before God. Rather than measuring ourselves against our actions, we must remember that it is God's faithfulness that upholds us. This point is re-emphasized in Hebrews 10:19-22 where we see that we are invited to draw near to God with full assurance by the blood of Jesus.
