How can Christians guard against being deceived by false teachings?

Answered in 1 source

Christians can guard against false teachings by grounding themselves in Scripture and seeking discernment through prayer (Acts 17:11).

To protect ourselves from being deceived by false teachings, Christians must establish a solid foundation in Scripture and actively seek discernment through prayer. Acts 17:11 commends the Bereans for examining the Scriptures daily to see if what they were taught was true. By immersing ourselves in God's Word, we can recognize the truth and detect deviations that may appear genuine but ultimately lead us away from God. Continuous prayer for wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit also equips us to discern the authenticity of teachings and to identify those that claim to be from Christ but are actually crafted by the devil, who seeks to mislead us as an angel of light.
