How can Christians learn to submit to God's will?

Answered in 1 source

Christians can learn to submit to God's will by emulating Jesus’ prayer 'Not as I will, but as You will.'

The example of Christ in Gethsemane teaches us the essential lesson of total submission to God's will. Jesus expressed His desire for the cup to pass from Him but ultimately submitted to the Father's plan, proclaiming, 'Not as I will, but as You will.' This reflects an attitude of humility and trust that should characterize the lives of all believers. Learning this submission involves recognizing our lack of understanding about what is truly good for us. By practicing contentment in all circumstances, and by being able to endure disappointments, we demonstrate growth in grace and an acceptance of God's sovereignty in our lives.
