Christians shine as lights in the world by holding forth the word of life and living in accordance with God's truth.
Christians are called to shine as lights in a dark world by holding forth the word of life, as stated in Philippians 2:16. This involves proclaiming the gospel and living in a way that reflects Christ's character. Jesus emphasized in Matthew 5:14 that His followers are the light of the world, meant to illuminate the truth of God’s grace. In order to carry this light effectively, believers must be rooted in the truth of Scripture, allowing it to shape their actions and attitudes. By doing good works that glorify the Father, Christians demonstrate the reality of the gospel to those around them. In a perverse generation, the light they reflect must draw attention to the sovereign saving grace of God and lead others to Him.
