How can Christians strive to stop sinning?

Answered in 1 source

Christians are encouraged to strive against sin by relying on the Holy Spirit and seeking to honor God.

While Scripture acknowledges that believers will struggle with sin throughout their lives, Christians are still called to aim for holiness. In 1 John 2:1, John states, 'My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not.' This directive comes from a desire for believers to live in accordance with God’s will. The encouragement is to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit who desires to lead us toward righteousness, fostering a genuine longing to obey and please God. Although we may fall, it is the consistent pursuit of holiness and reliance on Christ as our righteousness that shapes our journey, reminding us that we are to continually seek to honor God in all aspects of our lives.
