How can God be both a refuge and strength?

Answered in 1 source

God serves as both our refuge and strength, providing a safe place to hide and the power to endure life's challenges (Psalm 46:1).

In the dual role of refuge and strength, God provides believers with both safety and sustenance. As a refuge, He offers shelter from life's storms. We come to Him to find safety from external threats, including our sin and the wrath it deserves. As our strength, God empowers us to face our trials without succumbing to despair. In Christ, when we are weak, His strength is made perfect. Therefore, believers experience a holistic protection that encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. This unity of refuge and strength allows us to navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.
