How can I be considered a friend of God?

Answered in 1 source

To be recognized as a friend of God, one must trust in Jesus Christ and keep His commandments, as outlined in the Scriptures.

The pathway to being a friend of God fundamentally lies in a believer's trust and reliance on Christ for salvation. John 15:14 indicates that Jesus calls His friends those who do what He commands. This relationship is not merely about following rules but about entering a profound covenant of love where believers are transformed and enabled through grace to walk in obedience. Additionally, understanding that Christ dwells in believers serves as a reminder of their new nature; as they abide in Him and reflect His character, they embody the traits of friendship that God cherishes. In essence, placing faith in Jesus and living in harmony with His teachings solidifies one’s status as a friend of God.
