How can one attain the righteousness that delivers from death?

Answered in 1 source

Attaining righteousness requires looking to Christ in faith, turning from self-reliance to His merit.

To attain the righteousness that saves, one must look to Christ alone in faith. This means turning away from all forms of self-reliance and trusting entirely in His perfect obedience and sacrifice. As stated in Romans 10:9-10, confession and belief in Jesus as Lord leads to salvation. This righteousness is granted to those who trust in Him—His merit outweighs all the sin and failure we carry. The act of looking signifies faith; it's where we recognize our inability and rely on His ability to save and deliver us from death.
